Week 2: Light Struggles, First Adjustments & the Patience Test Update: 14.03.25 Good morning, grow fam! Week 2 of my photoperiod journey is running – a mix of challenges and small wins. Here’s a look at the early days of my Blueberry and Durban Poison seedlings. Current Observations: Light Deficiency & Stretching Stems The first days post-germination were intense: The seedlings developed extremely long, thin stems (check the photos!), a clear sign of insufficient light. Since I’m intentionally avoiding extra lighting to save resources, I had to improvise: - Tray Rotation: I rotate the seedling tray multiple times a day to ensure even exposure to the weak March sunlight. - DIY Support: For the most stretched seedlings, a bent wire acts as a crutch to prevent them from collapsing. Interestingly, the tomato and cucumber plants in the same tray show no issues – their stems stay compact. Seems like veggies are better adapted to low-light conditions than cannabis! Nutrients & Alfa Boost: An Experiment Even though my Biobizz Lightmix should provide enough nutrients for the first weeks, I tested a sample of Alfa Boost (freebie from the grow shop) during watering. The product claims to boost roots and stress resistance – perfect for my light-stressed babies. So far, no negative reactions, but no explosive growth either. Slow Growth – No Cause for Concern The plants are growing just millimeters per day, but that’s okay. My focus is on building sturdy, resilient plants, not speed. Once days get longer and sunnier, growth should pick up. They’ll stay indoors until mid-May anyway – plenty of time to bulk up. Next Steps & Tweaks - Transplanting in 1–2 Weeks: Once the first true leaf pairs emerge, they’ll move to small pots with my Biobizz All-Mix blend. - First Topping Soon: Once the plants hit 4–5 nodes, I’ll top them to encourage bushier growth. Week 2 Takeaway: Patience is key! Even in suboptimal conditions, I trust Dutch Passion’s resilient genetics. Fingers crossed for greener progress next week. Getting tall. I have light wind blowing on it to strengthen the stem because it will be going outside. I think I'll need to start training it early.

Day 29 - Topped both ladies at the fifth node and removed any growth below. Growth exploded since transplant and first dose of nutrients. Day 30 - Watered both ladies with around 100ml of water. They recovered from the topping and look as healthy as can be. Very happy with progress. Day 32 - Misted both ladies. Day 33 - Watered both ladies with around 250ml each. Increased dosage slightly from last feed to see how they take it. Day 35 - Misted both ladies to keep them hydrated. Maria is doing well, showing vigorous growth. Planning to top her again next week and remove any growth below the topped nodes. Juanita has fallen behind, new growth points seem to be growing sideways. Keeping an eye on her progress, hopefully she turns out ok. Not planning to top her again until normal growth resumes, do not want to stress her out.

Just gave about 5 litres of pure water. Had some fun watching the different species of my beneficial insects. Other than that, just had to do some lawn mowing because the cover crop frenzied :)

Strong bud growth this week. Stable temps and humidity. The green gelato is a strong grower but slightly behind the others in terms of bud development.

I already imagine it with a lot of summer sun ... 100% recommended ... I will grow one of them again ....

Today is day 91, looking healthy, looking nice, looking like there will be decent weight of them, no issues at all, missed a week as I've been busy but going to up there bloom, topmax and heaven by an extra mil this coming week,.. all looks brill, roll on next week

ABxRKO is about 42.5" tall, and has been top dressed with about 3tsp of grow dots to give it a phosphorus boost in flower HBSS is about 26.5" tall and has been top dressed with about 2tsp grow dots as I believe it is fighting a phosphorus deficiency. She is giving all the smells, a bright red starburst like fruity smell with a stark citrus note.

Wow......... She grew an EXTRA 46CM this week........ I think she likes the new blue/daylight bulb. But it probably coincides with her peak flowering stretch tbh.
