I started the week out with defoliating quite a bit but left all leafs that do not block any bud sites untouched. Been watering every other day with around 3-4 liters for each. I feed every time. Been lollipopping. Now i am waiting for the results to show. I threw out my clones at the end of the week but have 2 other running at a friends place. My coco plants are much bigger than the soil plants due to under feeding in soil.

I have a 2.5x2.5x6 (70x70x160cm) tent. I am growing the RQS Sour Diesel. Currently using mars pro 2 epistar 80 and will upgrade to a bigger light as well. For how long should i Veg the plant for? Or how tall should i grow it before switching to flower? Thanks!

Hi bro, you may want to wait until week 5-6 before switching your light to flowering mode. You can look at other diaries with the same strain, here on GD, this will give you an idea about how tall this plant can grow. @Sisona_Darchia's plant for example : 125cm in 9 weeks. Anyway we'll be around to help you! Good luck with these babies!

I have a question about one of my plants. It did not grow that many trichomes whiles the other grew a lot. I fed them and trained both of them the same. What could it be? And at the same time i dont see my bud swelling up too much. i use mars epistar 80. Is that maybe too weak ?

your plants have different stages of flowering. one got only white hair, the other one still have brown. i think the same is it with the trichomes. everything she needs is time. i think you have at least 3weeks+ to go... its not unusual that the plants develop very different. thats mother nature. sty patient and happy growing

Great FIMing! They look like they recovered quickly. Keep training those branches outward so you have a nice canopy.

PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, Thanks. Yea #2 needed a few days. The FIM cut was really bad! #1 on the other hand recovered super quickly. And its growing huge but the nodes are a little too tight on both plants. Should i cut of some fan leafs to train branches easier ?

Looking good! She looks pretty close now. When do you think you will start to flush? You used a lot of nutes throughout your grow. You might need a bit longer. If you are 2 weeks from harvest, I'd start my flush now.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, but it did not produce much hair. Guess thats a bad thing. But still smokeable sellable?
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@PureMedicin, I'm sure that you have trichomes on that one plant. All of your photos show milkyish trichomes. You can see them as the shiny, frosty images on the buds. They appear all over the sugar leaves and buds. Through the loupe they will look like little mushrooms with a stem and little bulb at the top.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Thanks :) I Started 1st flush today for coco plants. Been flushing my auto and soil sour d for almost a week now. And yes i only flushed mid grow once. So i guess there is a lot of nutes in the coco. Was thinking about flushing 10-14 days So to start flush today is ideal yes :) to bad one of the plants didnt really produce any trichomes but it smells amasing, can i still smoke those buds ?
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 156 years ago
She is looking great! Nice close ups of the buds themselves. Not close enough to get a good look at the trichomes, but they look clear>milky on my monitor. I'd say she has a good 3 weeks left to go. You said yourself that the trichomes are not fully developed. I wouldn't use the pistils as a gauge for this grow. Sometimes it gives you a good idea, but its nothing to use by itself. I see a lot of immature calyx on your buds. Those will fatten up in the next few weeks. Also, when you stop giving nutes, the plant will start to fatten up as it cannibalizes itself. I am a little conerned that you might be getting a little foxtailing on your buds. They are really close to the light, and the tops of the buds are starting to show some stress it appears. I know you are at the top of your tent, so you might have to just let it go. I already saw that you tied down one of the taller bud stalks.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Alright, thank you so much :)
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@PureMedicin, Flushing times depend on grow medium, and type/quantity of nutrients used. If you assume that you have 3 weeks prior to harvest, start flushing with about 1-2 weeks left depending on how much you feed her. With your grow, I would start flushing at 2 weeks. That way if she finishes sooner, your plants will be well flushed and you herb won't have a chemical smell and taste.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Thank you :) One of the plants #2 is looking very nice and frosty but the other one is what i suspected as foxtailing. I think it has been from the heat stress but as soon as i saw i bend it down. going abit better and added more airflow. Bad airflow and too close to the light has coursed it. I cant raise the light anymore than it is now so i have to nurse it as best as i can. They will get their last nute feed on friday and then i was thinking to start flush from next monday or tuesday. Not sure how many days i should flush ?
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 166 years ago
Honestly, your buds look great! The pistils are turning orange and curling back into the bud. The buds and sugar leaves are frosted with milky trichomes. I'd say flush it, cut it, cure it, and smoke it.๐Ÿ˜Ž

I love that screen! Everyone looks very healthy and green. Your screen is a bit too low. Once you flip them to flower, they are going to stretch and probably double in height. That screen will help train them outwards, but you would need another one that is higher to make your canopy. I would train those top stalks, and really work on getting all of your budsites at the same level. You can continue training throughout your stretch, but a lot more gently. Everything looks great! Keep up with your plan.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, Why thank you ! Yes i raised my screen abit and started training the top stalks by bending the top growth down. But it corrects itself within 1-2 hours. Will look into some supercrop to see if i can super crop the top growth now! Thanks for all the tips it is really helpful and i appriciate it alot :)

Nice work on your SCROG screen. It looks metal, but you said if was for plants, so I'm guessing its plastic. Keep training your bud sites on the screen to spread them out. Wait until you see this screen filled with buds!!! It's going to blow your mind.

@Quexos, Cool. Heard of a few using honey. It is some old egyptian method i read. I made a few cuts on the site of the stem and then dipped in honey and just stuck them in some rockwool. Keeping them moist and and hot. 85-90% humidity and 90 degrees fahrenheit. Its Sour D so it likes it hot. 81-82 fahrenheit are the sweet spot for my plants as far as i have observed.
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@PureMedicin, I haven't worked with clones, but the friends I've talked to who grow a lot of clones say its pretty easy. I've never heard of using honey solution. I've only heard of clonex. You certainly took some healthy plants to take clones. This has been a very sturdy grow, good for clones.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, It should work. I also cut a few clones from the bottom yesterday have them running in the a dome and placed next to my window. They doing fine so far 24 hours later. Dipped them in honey solution (honey and water) now waiting for new growth. If it will ever come :D they get around 14 hours of daylight hope it works

what light do you add, lamp power? ะžn the coconut ground, the vega passes very slowly for the first 3 weeks. and then shoot))) and for the future, buy something for the roots. (stimulants, mycorrhizas or aerated compost tea (AKH))

Nice Week! Those girls have really stretched out! Now its time to fill in all of that stalk with long fat buds. Are you thinking of doing anything more with flowering nutes? Also, you might need some support for some of those long stalks. You could probably tie some cordage to the tent supports so you can attach the stalks to the string.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, That was my plan. I know that sour d are hungry on N but i will just keep a low profile on this grow as you say and then just keep it under control for now. Already learned a great lot from this grow! Think i will add some honey when its time and then take it from there :) next grow will be more advanced im sure!
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@PureMedicin, I went nuts on flowering nutes on my last grow. Advanced Nutrients is a very easy to use, forgiving line. I liked the results of my last grow. Curing took a lot longer I think. However, I don't know if all the added nutes were that worth it. I'm going to have to complete a few hands off grows and gauge the difference. I would say, go with your plan. If you want to only add honey as an additive, then go with it. Next grow you can research a strain that likes heavy nutes and go for it. There are a lot of seeds out there!
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Yes not bad thanks :) I was going to add some honey around week 14-15. and then flush last 2 weeks. Or i was thinking about buying some bud candy. Im not sure i will look into it soon. what are your suggentions on this? Yes that was my exact idea to tie them to the upper tent support if they get too heavy.

Nice LST! Depending on how fast she is growing, you can keep edging her tops outwards daily. My LST wire was anchored in the soil, so I would just move it farther along the stalk each day. I'm going to do the same method on my next grow. Keep it up! She is looking really healthy.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, I really apprieciate ur help. Ok i will follow ur advice on that LST work. Will try remove some more leafs as well But already removed 4-6 on each plant. Can i continue without stunning?
Quexos
Quexoscommented7 years ago
@PureMedicin, I flipped my last grow at 5 weeks, but it was because I had trained all the branches. You can stay in veg for longer if you want. My idea was that if all the budsites were at the same height, I would get better flower development. On the other hand, if this is your first grow, you want to get it finished! I would work your LST magic for another weekish so you get a lot of nice budsites. You will still be able to do LST once she is in flowering mode. You just have to be more careful so you don't shock the plant. Remember to keep defoliating old fan leaves. They take up sunlight, nutrients, and space.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, Thanks man ! Yea it was my plan to keep edging them outwards but i dont want to long of a veg so i might train them for a week and then flip... Any ideas or input on that? Cheers mate
Quexos
Quexoscommentedweek 47 years ago
I wouldn't worry about the tight nodes during veg. My current grow started out the same way. I topped her at the 3rd node. (I lucked out and did a FIM). Then I trained the branches with coated, bendable wire. I spread my girl out like a compass. I tried to make each branch grow horizontal until the top was even with the end of my smart sack. She never got over 7" during veg. It made it difficult to do LST, but it was worth it in the end. I did minor defoliation during all of veg and the beginning of flower. I gave my plant regular haircuts, but I never shaved her! Different growers have different opinions on defoliating. You will figure out your own routine, and that one will be perfect.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, Thank you! i will try it out :) :)
Quexos
Quexoscommented7 years ago
@PureMedicin, LST when the plants are thirsty. The branches are more pliable. If you bend a branch too much, don't worry. Support it and it will usually come back stronger.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented7 years ago
@Quexos, I did the same thing. Was going for a top ended out fimming :D Thanks for the info it really helps me know what to do. Yes i will them alone for a bit and defoliate before flower. Still dont understand plants so i dont want to mess with them more than i already have. a fews days more and the branches should be good for some solid lst :) Cheers

Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@PureMedicin, My last grow took about 3-4 weeks to cure. It has a real nice citrusy aroma. The buds are pretty dense as well. I like smoking it. Its perfect to roll up a phatty and watch a movie with my wife. I have no idea about THC. I'm still buying herb from the local dispensaries. It gives me ideas for future grows. Right now I'm liking Pineapple Express and Gorilla Glue for future grows. I'll never know what I grew. What I harvested and what I had been buying locally were two completely different things! My current grow is on GD. It has about 3 weeks to go. I'll hit it up with some late flowering nutes this week, then switch to flush for the last 2 weeks.

Everything looks great! They still have some bulking left to do, but everything looks exactly the way it should. Did you know your Flora Grow and Micro have nitrogren as their main ingredient? At this stage of the grow you could probably just go with the MicroBloom. Your plant will pull all nitrogen it needs from the leaves.
PureMedicin
PureMedicincommented6 years ago
@Quexos, Ty dude. Yes they should hopefully fatten up a bit more. I know all the flora products have some nitrogen in it i think. But Flora gro is most rich on N it should be. Yes i stopped adding Flora gro now and only adding Micro/bloom. Plus bud candy and some big bud from Advanced nutrients.

I like your technique as well but fimming is the way to go in my opinion! My Blueberry auto were transplanted into soil as well.
