Weekly Summary: Great recovery, great growth, and plants starting their stretch. Plants are drinking, eating, and transpiring. Plants seem to like the 5.4 ph range. It may seem low, but again, the PH perfect tech used by Advanced is a mere safety net allowing the plant to uptake between ph 4 to 8 as if it were a ph of 5.6. Since MQ3 didnt kick its first pistil until mid week, I'll set next week as flowering. --------------------------------------- April 17 (Day 34) --------------------------------------- Tent: 77-80F (Day) / 68-70F (Night) Rh: 69% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.3/5.2 PPM: 560/540 Leaf Temp: 78f PH dropped to 5.2. PPM dropped from 560 to 540 throughout day. Adjusted tethers on MQ3 topped plant. Removed the rubberband support on split stalk on MQ3 Large knuckles forming on MQ3 Added 10ml of Orca beneficials in 500ml RO. Added 10ml of Z9 in 500ML RO. Peeked at roots due to ph drop. Roots look great. I’ve seen a few people mention waterfall needing to be diverted because it soaks the air roots. I noticed the air roots climbing outside of net pot basket, so I added a screens to the waterfall bulkhead to disrupt the waterfall until the 3/4” NTP tee fittings I ordered arrive at local store. --------------------------------------- April 18 (Day 35) --------------------------------------- Tent: 77-80F (Day) / 68-70F (Night) Rh: 67% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.2/5.2 PPM: 540/500 Leaf Temp: 78f PH steady at 5.2 PPM dropped from 530 to 500. Replenished water level with 100% RO water Both plants are indeed drinking and eating. Did some light defoliation to both plants. I’m going to say the issue was likely nitrogen toxicity from pushing the ppms too hard along with my ph fluctuation on the water change. Plants are Back on track. MQ4 has a bunch of pre-flower pistils. I keep LSTING and defoliating and come back 8 hours later and its all filled in again. I couldnt imagine LSTing a bunch of plants. MQ3 popped its first pistil today. Added tethers to other side of MQ3. --------------------------------------- April 19 (Day 36) --------------------------------------- Tent: 76-79F (Day) / 68-70F (Night) Rh: 65% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.2/5.3 PPM: 500/480 Leaf Temp: 78f PPM dropped to 470. Stellar growth going on with both plants. MQ3 training is a bit challenging but she’s almost healed from the split stalk, I haven’t seen but maybe one or two days on slow growth last week. A bit concerned about next water change. the ph will be riding 5.8 when changed due to ph perfect. Could cause ph issue again. May flush at 5.6 for a few hours. Light defoliation. Added 15ml A+B Added 8ml Z9 Added 20ml orca LED light is about 20” from top of plants. PPM brought back up to 540 PH went to 5.3 near end of day. --------------------------------------- April 20 (Day 37) --------------------------------------- Tent: 76-79F (Day) / 68-70F (Night) Rh: 64% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.3/5.4 PPM: 500/480 Leaf Temp: 78f Its looking like this might be day one of stretch! Both plants are noticeably growing in every direction. Topped off water level with 4L of RO water. Otherwise, I let them grow today. This is their day. PH went up to 5.4 today, with the help of the top off I suspect. --------------------------------------- April 21 (Day 38) --------------------------------------- Tent: 75-79F (Day) / 68-71F (Night) Rh: 62% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.4/5.7 PPM: 480/430 Leaf Temp: 78f Morning: Added 10ml of Orca - not sure if I’ll have time to do water change. Definitely stretching - both plants noticeably taller today. Found time for water change if i do it today, wont have much spare time on weekend. I thought I was going to have to scrub the system but it looks pretty clean as is. Even cleaner than a few days ago. May just do a quick clean next water change, maybe switch out the air stones before I can’t get to them any longer. Roots are much larger, mostly white, smell like fresh spring greens. Root colour shifts to off white above the waterline. Still have that dark brown stain in roots n MQ3 but its not growing in size. I think its just poorly distributed nutrients. If I end up scrubbing system I’ll try and flush that spot out. I probably didn’t have to change the water after seeing the system emptied. Nutrient Solution: 100ml rhino skin silca - mixed well and let run via waterfall in flexitank for 1 hour. Mixed well again by hand. 130ml Sensi A + B Grow 10ml b52 15ml calmag Added 15ml Orca Added 10ml Z9 Pt 1 + Pt 2 Final system values: PPM: 670 PH: 5.7 Water Temp: 67f --------------------------------------- April 22 (Day 39) --------------------------------------- Tent: 75-79F (Day) / 68-71F (Night) Rh: 62% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 66F-69F PH: 5.7/5.4 PPM: 670/650 Leaf Temp: 78f PH dropped to 5.4 First time they were transpiring at 68% while humidifier was set to 62% during daylight hours - will try and find a balance between dehumidifier and heater for temp. Contemplating add CMH for better foot print . At this point, If i’m going to add heat, it might as well be light. Removed rubber bands on MQ3 and replaced with soft ties. Still hate 3m command clips on these buckets. Some light defoliation on MQ4 to let some more bud sites get some light. Tightened down top of MQ4 so its lower than canopy while they stretch. Raised light a couple of inches to accommodate growth.; 20” from canopy now. --------------------------------------- April 23 (Day 40) --------------------------------------- Tent: 75-79F (Day) / 68-71F (Night) Rh: 62% (Day) / 48% (Night) Water Temp: 67F-71F PH: 5.4/5.4 PPM: 650/630 Leaf Temp: 78f PH held at 5.4 all day. PPM dropped from 650 to 630. Let them grow and stretch - checked for any moisture on leaves that are laying on each other. Added 15ml of Orca in 500ml of RO water - mid afternoon.

@MrHightimes, Thanks for the positive props man. I had your MQ diary bookmarked and you did a phenomenal job on that one. So far this strain is not flinching at anything I throw at them. Still a long way to go, but so far I'm happy with the growth and progress. Happy growing! Cheers!

@MyWeedAccount, Thanks so much for the kind words man! It was a lot of time to document and post it, so I'm unsure when I'll post another diary as detailed as this one. I'm hoping to start up the next run in September! I'll surely be following your grows and your unique cooler DWC system. Have fun with your grow!

woah those look sooo gorgggg! nice grow man, do you by any chance have any extra night owl seeds? if so do you think i could get just one. Im from virginia and we just legalized weed in july and i really wanna start growing😍

steadfast_growercommented3 years ago
@jeffhardi, Thanks so much for the kind comment. Congrats on the legalization in VA! I am in Canada but follow @myweedaccount for Night Owl/Mephisto diaries - He's located in VA and may be able to offer some suggestions. Night Owl won't be doing any drops until later this year, but you may be able to find some stock at seed banks in the US. Also, check out Mephisto and Roc Bud for solid auto genetics.
