Week Summary: I went for a water change as it had been 18 days.
The Phosphorus deficiency progressed a bit but has been resolved mostly although I feel the factors leading up to it were caused by nitrogen toxicity and natural fade and expected nitrogen deficiency in late flower is also appearing on leaves. The LED cooked some of the leaves on MQ3 as they are dry and brittle. I've since raised the LED and inch and dialed it back the intensity a little and the leaves haven't taco'd since. I was busy with work, so my regiment wasn't as tight as it should have been. The PH has been dropping all week and hasn't started to come back up yet - signaling a possible root issue. Either Something was off about the water change. I didn't expect much growth, but the plants stalled on drinking and eating a majority of the week since water change. Just waiting for them to ripen at this point.
---------------------------------------
May 22 (Day 69)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 80F-84F (Day) / 73F-75F (Night)
Rh: 52% (Day) / 48% (Night)
Water Temp: 71F-73F
PH: 5.7/5.8/5.6/5.2
PPM: 760/920
Leaf Temp: 80F
Temps in the tent is warm today even with the AC running 24/7.
Given the plants had a few rough days, and 18 days since last water change, I opt for a water change.
Water change: 10gal/40L
Mixed RO water and following nutrients in Flexitank before draining RDWC system.
80ml rhino
80ml sensi bloom A+B
Total PPM 790
Added 6ml of Orca
Added 10ml Z9
Mixed RO water and ph’d to 5.5. Added to 250 ml spray bottle and added 1/2ml of Orca.
Sprayed beneficial PH'd solution directly on roots of both plants.
Roots look good, smell fresh. Only nutrient stain discoloration from what I can tell.
Still undecided if the spotting progressing which started on 14th, is excess Nitrogen locking potassium leading to Phosphorus issue. Decided to go back to just base nutrients to see if it spreads or halts. I can always add more. I suspect too much p/k deficiency because Sensi Bloom part one should have enough nitrogen. I may have added too much nitrogen by adding grow and bloom together during the last phase of stretch/transition.

May 23 (Day 70)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 78F-81F (Day) / 71F - 74F (Night)
Rh: 52% (Day) / 48% (Night)
Water Temp: 71F-74F
PH: 5.2/5.1
PPM: 790/920
Leaf Temp: NA
Cooler temps outside today - tent and water much cooler today.
PPM has been rising quite a bit on its own - will start diluting over the next several days with plain RO.
Added 2L of plain RO water to reduce the PPM.
Every time I perform a water change, the ph drops and then settles and begins to stabilize then starts to go upwards - Suspected due to the ecosystem within the root system and if the plant is leaching nutrients. I’m not paying attention to ph because of the ph perfect tech but I just want to note that it just bottoms out for a few days, then begins to drift upwards.
I found my water quality to stay and smell fresh, as I only changed water twice in 38 days. The plants seem to thrive, drink and eat.. until I perform a water change then stall for a few days in regards to both eating and drinking.
---------------------------------------
May 24 (Day 71)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 78F-81F (Day) / 69F (Night)
Rh: 52% (Day) / 48% (Night)
Water Temp: 68F-71F
PH: 5.0
PPM: 920/1020/920
Leaf Temp: NA
PPM Rising again - roots are definitely leaching nutrients.
Added 4L of plain water.
Added 5ml Orca mixed well in 1L water.
---------------------------------------
May 25 (Day 72)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 78F-80F (Day) / 70F (Night)
Rh: 50% (Day) / 48% (Night)
Water Temp: 69F-70F
PH: 5.0/4.9
PPM: 920/1030/890/810
Leaf Temp: NA
PPM keeps rising - I'm just adding water now until it balances.
Handling stems and gently repositing buds daily now for better air flow. Just moving branches around that are sitting against other buds.
Drained 25% of system and added plain RO water for a ppm of 810
---------------------------------------
May 26 (Day 73)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 77F-79F (Day) / 71F (Night)
Rh: 48% (Day) / 46% (Night)
Water Temp: 69F-72F
PH: 5.0/5.3/4.9
PPM: 830/710/780
Leaf Temp: NA
PPM went up overnight to 830 - not as drastic as before.
Drained system a little more and added more RO to try and find a balance.
Added 6ml orca in 1L water after refill (morning) - Final PPM 720
Raised lights an inch.
PPM raised to 780 by end of day.
New bottle of orca arrived in mail!
Added 8 ml of orca in 1.5L water - end of day - Total PPM 760
Inspecting flowers every other day - No signs of nanners or PM.
---------------------------------------
May 27 (Day 74)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 75F-77F (Day) / 68F (Night)
Rh: 48% (Day) / 46% (Night)
Water Temp: 66F-69F
PH: 5.0/4.8
PPM: 830/710
Leaf Temp: NA
PPM stayed at 760 overnight. Back on track!
Added 10ml of Z9 in 1L RO water.
Temps dropped outside. AC Infinity fans are on constantly on ‘8’ setting. Ambient tent temps are 75f today. Next few days should be cool outside letting me bring the temps down a bit in the tent.
— Roots are leaching out nutrients is my best hypothesis. Spotting was likely nitrogen toxicity + some burn from the last water change May 12, when I blended the grow - should have reduced grow blend because the AN sensi bloom does have a decent amount of nitrogen. Not to mention a possible combination of a Phosphorus deficiency along with a bit of nutrient burn and the added natural late-flower expected nitrogen deficiency and fade in late flower and a bit of light/heat stress. Quite the combo.
Last week was tough for these girls and the water change seemed to stall them. On one hand, I regret the water change and should have just continued with a PK booster (overdrive) because they were doing great. I don’t think this was a case of recent nutrient lockout or PH issue because they were drinking and eating plenty before this past water change. But something was definitely off.
---------------------------------------
May 28 (Day 75)
---------------------------------------
Tent: 75F-77F (Day) / 68F (Night)
Rh: 48% (Day) / 44% (Night)
Water Temp: 66F-69F
PH: 4.5/4.7/4.5
PPM: 690/670/690
Leaf Temp: NA
Water down almost 4L in morning - PPM stayed the same.
Added 4L of plain RO water - brought PPM down to 670.
Some defoliation for air flow.
PPM stayed at 670 all day.
5ml Orca in 500ml RO water
Added 2L more of plain RO water at end of day.
Added 10ml of Sensi Bloom A+B in 1L RO water - mixed well. - brought PPM up to 690.
@DreamIT, Thanks for commenting and following my grow. I can't say I'll be this detailed in future diaries, but details are the goal of this diary. Cheers mate!
@MrHightimes, Thanks for the positive props man. I had your MQ diary bookmarked and you did a phenomenal job on that one.
So far this strain is not flinching at anything I throw at them. Still a long way to go, but so far I'm happy with the growth and progress. Happy growing! Cheers!
The amount of effort you put into documenting this grow is definitely not lost on me, and congrats on the amazing results!!! Also, really diggin the breakdown format you had for your harvest entry. Looking forward to your next 🤙
@MyWeedAccount, Thanks so much for the kind words man! It was a lot of time to document and post it, so I'm unsure when I'll post another diary as detailed as this one.
I'm hoping to start up the next run in September! I'll surely be following your grows and your unique cooler DWC system. Have fun with your grow!
woah those look sooo gorgggg! nice grow man, do you by any chance have any extra night owl seeds? if so do you think i could get just one. Im from virginia and we just legalized weed in july and i really wanna start growing😍
@jeffhardi, Thanks so much for the kind comment. Congrats on the legalization in VA! I am in Canada but follow @myweedaccount for Night Owl/Mephisto diaries - He's located in VA and may be able to offer some suggestions. Night Owl won't be doing any drops until later this year, but you may be able to find some stock at seed banks in the US. Also, check out Mephisto and Roc Bud for solid auto genetics.
