Super excited to finally start a new grow, and even more excited to make a proper journal! Let's hope these little babies germinate within the next couple of days! :) Cherry Grapefruit is from Kera Seeds, and the two autos were free gifts from seed-city. I have grown 2 photos at a time in my small tent but I'm trying to fit these two autos in. We shall see how this turns out, and I welcome any suggestions along the way! UPDATE (09 APR 2021): As captioned, 3 of the 4 seeds have germinated successfully. Unfortunately, the cherry grapefruit from KeraSeeds hasn't risen to the occasion. It's only been a couple days so I still have hope for her. Going to be setting up my tent over the weekend and getting the 3-gallon pots ready for transplant. UPDATE (10 APR 2021): Finally got the grow space ready to go for my baby seedlings. Seemed to go a lot smoother this time since I have a lot more experience. Super excited to transplant into 3 gallon pots tomorrow evening! I'm REALLY hoping the Cherry Grapefruit comes alive. No signs yet. UPDATE (11 APR 2021): Transplanted 3 out of 4 seeds into 3-gallon Vivosun fabric pots. I did open up the root cube on the cherry grapefruit and noticed the seed split and a tiny tap root is showing. Either it died and has been sitting there or it just finally broke through, but the tap root looks nice and healthy so I'm leaving it for another day or two. Honestly, I'm not sure how my tiny tent will even handle 3 plants so I won't be terribly upset if she doesn't survive. Either way, 3 pots are finally under lights and I'm looking forward to next week's updates.

Fox farm usually runs hot so I wouldn't add nutrients until week 4-6, which autos at that time is usually going into bud cycle.

I've always gone from root cube directly to 3-gallon pots. I can't compare the difference with transplanting from solo cups because I don't have any experience. Have any of you found a significant advantage to adding an extra transplant? I figure 3-gallon pots aren't THAT big.

Hi mate, the less stress you put on a plant the better. I pop the seeds then go directly to 3 gal autopot. Roots don't like the light so the less you expose them the better. Hope this helps. Good luck

I'm researching intake fans and/or opening lower ducts to pull air in. I never worried about intake in the past, I just made sure my fan up top was sucking air out of the tent to create negative pressure. Thoughts on intake fans or having the back flap of the tent open? Thanks!

No real need for an intake if your outtake is powerful enough. Keep the vents on the tent open when lights are on. Close them on lights off to avoid any light leaks .

UPDATE (13 APR 2021): Finally going into VEG and all 3 plants are looking nice and healthy. I've left the Cherry Grapefruit in the tent and its developed a decently long tap root but it still hasn't broke the surface of the root cube. At this point she's so far behind the others I think I'm better off just letting her go, but I was really looking forward to having a fruity, indica-dominant strain. UPDATE (15 APR 2021): Girls are looking nice and healthy for the most part. My environment is too dry so the leaves are curling slightly. I closed up most of the intake flap and I'm hoping that helps because I've never had this issue, and that's the only thing I've changed. GOOD NEWS: I decided not to give up on the Cherry Grapefruit and she's now thriving. I've already potted her and I'll be posting updated pics at the beginning of week 2 :) It will be interesting to see how my tent handles 4 plants but at least I'll know if I can handle it moving forward. Happy Growing!

My Cherry Grapefruit has developed a decently sized tap root but it's taking her FOREVER to break through the root cube. Do you guy's think I should give up on her? She's already a week behind my other 3 plants and I'm already limited by a pretty small grow space. Thanks!

Yeah sounds like it could just be a bad phenotype. I’ve scrapped seedlings that were just not growing as well as her siblings. Especially if they are all growing under the same conditions

Filtered Water (BRITA) VS. Tap Water? Which do you use/prefer? I've always use filtered water for my girls but I'm worried it might be overkill. These filters aren't cheap and sometimes I have to sit and wait forever if the pitcher isn't already filled up. Thanks for the help!

It totally depends on your water. My water is from a well and provides all the calcium and magnesium and some other micronutrients my plants need so I do NOT filter.

UPDATE (18 APR 2021): Closing the ventilation flap has definitely helped raise the humidity and the girls seem to be growing faster now. Some of the leaves have minor nutrient burn so I wouldn't recommend starting seedlings in FFOF, but I imagine they'll be just fine. I just watered them before their 18-hour light cycle. I'm pretty stoked about saving the Cherry Grapefruit, and she's looking super healthy. I welcome any advice from my fellow growers, and happy 4/20!

UPDATE (25 APR 2021): The girls are really coming along, very nice and healthy without anymore signs of nutrient burn on the new growth. I've increased their water intake and they've paid me back with a nice acceleration in growth. I just gave them water and setup my GORPO Session 4 to record my first ever time-lapse video. Unfortunately, the final product was only 9 seconds and it didn't really show much plant movement. I will tweak the settings and adjust the aggregation period to <15 seconds so I can record a longer video next week. I also wasn't sure how to upload the video so instead I posted a thumbnail contained in the short clip. Happy growing everybody and I appreciate all the advice! NOTE: I have not yet started giving the plants any additional nutrients besides filtered tap water. I am looking into trying Humboldt's Secret A&B formula. I used Fox Farms in the past but I want to try something else, what do you guy's recommend? Thanks! 🙏 UPDATE (28 APR 2021): Just watered the girls and added their first batch of nutrients. I realized I had some left over Big Bloom and I still have a huge bottle of Cal-Mag so I won't have to purchase any nutrients until they start to flower. I'll probably just finish out the grow using a small bottle of tiger bloom and try a new batch of nutrients on the next grow. I'm excited to post new pictures this Sunday to start off week 4! Happy Growing!!! 💪

Hey, I’m using Biobizz and it’s pretty decent. It’s an affordable choice, plus organic grow doesn’t need flush. Also the risk of a toxicity is more eliminated. I’m using though some bud stimulants from Advanced Nutes and they do what they say! Hope you choose the one it fits you. Cheers 🌸😊

UPDATE (02 MAY 2021): The autos are showing first signs of flower and I think they've been responding excellently to the LST training. I've only been giving the girls water every 3rd day, and I moved the lights up about 8-12 inches. I'm super impressed with the growth so far! As far as the photos are concerned, the cherry grapefruit is only 1 or 2 nodes behind the white widow. Once they both have over 5 nodes I'll top them down to the 3rd to begin main-lining. As always I welcome any advice and happy growing everybody! 😁 Quick UPDATE (04 MAY 2021): I'm about to take a trip out to Lake Tahoe so I just wanted to give a few updates real quick. I added a humidifier to up the humidity, and I've switched from Velcro to wire plant ties for LST for easier manipulation. HUGE MISTAKE: Using the Velcro to LST the auto jack I accidentally made it too tight around the end of the plant and completely cutoff it's supply of air/water/light. The leaves turned black and I was forced to top her because of it. I'll provide pics in a few days but I'm really hoping she's going to survive and/or doesn't provide a weak a$$ yield. 😓 UPDATE (05 MAY 2021): Just got back from Tahoe and it was absolutely beautiful! I'll post a pic I took from just outside of King's Beach. As far as the girls are concerned, the Cherry Grapefruit was jealous of her White Widow sister and decided to try and catch up in growth. Her fan leaves are already larger and extending past the edges of the fabric pot. Speaking of White Widow, I finally topped her tonight and removed all the lower growth below the 3rd node. I will tie down the growth tips in a couple of days when they grow out more. I'm continuing to LST the autos and I think the Auto Jack is going to recover from the incidental topping. The Auto Purple Kush is growing fantastically and I'm super excited to see more flowering. Besides that, I just watered them again last night and gave them another shot of nutrients with a small splash of tiger bloom.

The growth tips on my plants are super lime green compared to the rest of the leaves. Is this a problem? I'm growing in FFOF and I've given very little CalMag and P-T-K so far.

Morning Mate, IDK... looking like fresh exposed shoots. Via the pics I do not think that you have a problem, green of the fan leaves is maybe a bit dark but nothing to worry I'd say. Good Luck for the rest of the way!

Update (10 May 2020): My apologies, I wasn't able to update the diary yesterday so I'm a day late. I also wasn't able to water the girls for an extra day so they were SUPER thirsty. I just gave them about 2.5 liters of water each and they were very thankful. I'll provide updates for each plant. White Widow: The 4 shoots I left after topping are growing fast. They doubled in length so I tied them down using soft plant ties and bamboo sticks. Cherry Grapefruit: Just topped her today and I'll give here a few days before I tie down her shoots just like her older sister. Purple Kush Auto: This girl has responded amazingly to the LST and I upped the notch by tying the rest of her down. Auto Jack: Ehhhhhh.... I'm a little concerned about this poor baby. She hasn't been recovering that well since the incidental topping and she's actually been having super strange growth since then. New shoots are growing out of leaf stems and it's looking like a crazy jungle near the split. I'm gonna let her ride without doing anymore LST because I think it's slowing down her growth honestly. I'm positioning her directly under the light to give her some extra energy this week and we'll see how she continues to recover.

Updates (17 May 2021): No major changes this week and no real exciting updates to share. I DID order some new bloom and terpene enhancing nutrients from TPS. Besides that, I topped both the White Widow and the Cherry Grapefruit again this afternoon, so they're both setup to have 8 main colas each at this point. I may top them one more time before switching to flower depending on my space limitations. The autos are both doing great, especially the Purple Kush. She's showing tons of calyxes and hairs are popping up all over the place. On the other hand, the "auto" jack is barely showing signs of flower and I'm not sure how to compare the two. I've never grown autos before so hopefully someone can provide some insight! Thanks for reading and happy growing! 🙏

Update (24 May 2021): I've upgraded my nutrient regiment to include TPS bloom and signal along with Magic Roots by Blue Planet Nutrients. I'm hoping this helps the girls absorb nutrients better and it's supposed to help them weather harsher conditions. Speaking of harsh conditions, I decided to run a humidifier into my tent to raise the humidity obviously. I was sitting around 30% and the girls were really struggling to uptake nutrients and grow optimally. Now that the VPD is locked in better I'm already seeing faster growth. I'm a little worried about the humidifier blowing too much mist and causing mold though, so I'd appreciate some comments regarding my solution. Below I'll provide individual updates for each plant: Purple Kush Auto: Wow! The TPS has really helped her buds fatten and the smell is absolutely incredible! It has an extremely sweet, berry smell, but I'm not seeing any purple yet. Auto Jack: This girl has EXPLODED! She had quite a stretch for an auto but I'm seeing more and more pistils everyday. I realized this is a sativa dominant plant and it's just taking much longer for her to develop flowers. White Widow: For some reason this girl's growth has really slowed down. I'm assuming it's due to all the topping and LST, but I'm sure she'll recover fine and start growing again soon. Cherry Grapefruit: This girl is growing super fast! I fimmed a couple shoots just to see how she responds and I've never used that technique. I am noticing some discoloration in the leaves. They are turning dark green and copper. I hope I didn't overfeed with nutrients, but I just added some Root Magic so I'm hoping that will help stabilize her nutrient intake. Thanks for reading and I always appreciate advice! Happy Growing 🙌

Update (01 June 2021): No major changes this week. I'm watering each plant separately to increase the tent humidity and that's allowed me to stop using the added humidifier. Plant updates below: Purple Kush Auto: Her buds are really starting to swell, and the smell on this girl is incredible. A rich berry/grape smell, however, I'm still not seeing any purple. I think my temps are just too high. Auto Jack: This girl is CHUGGING water like crazy! She is in full flower mode and the pistils are popping out everywhere! I can't wait to see how these buds take shape. White Widow: Growth is picking up after multiple toppings and some extra defoliation. Switching to flower next week! Cherry Grapefruit: Nothing has changed with this bad girl. She is still growing SUPER fast! Sorry for the delayed updates, I spent the week in Yosemite Valley and I'll post some pics next week! Thanks, and happy growing! 😊

Update (17 June 2021): Hello everyone, sorry for the late post I've been super busy and the light schedule has made it hard for me to snap pics of the girls. As you can see, the plants have been growing and starting to bud. I'll update each plant one by one below: Auto Purple Kush: This girl is pretty much done growing and ready for harvest. I'm sad to say I definitely over trained her with the LST. I'm thinking of chopping her either Tuesday or Wednesday of next week! She still smells like sweet grapes :) Auto Jack: Holy crikey! This girl is still growing tall but flowering super slowly. White Widow: Nothing exciting about this girl. I'm hoping she stretches a lot more in the next couple weeks. She does have a super cool set of tops from FIMing that I'll make sure to point out next week! Cherry Grapefruit: OMG I still can't believe I almost threw this plant away. She is thriving and growing super fast. She's already showing tons of pistils and I can't wait to see how her buds develop. Thanks for reading and happy growing! 🙏
