Hey again everybody! We're up and running with the new rdwc system and ready to set sail o n our maiden voyage. For taking clones I decided to try 4 methods; rockwool, bubbleponic, directly into promix and finally rapid rooter then into coco to be washed out later. All cuts were dipped in clonex and then transfer directly to their homes. The bubbleponic was a flop. 0/3, I will transition it into an aeroponic for the next attempt. The rockwool was 4/4 though kinda slow but I attribute this to me not letting them dry out enough. The rapid rooter was 1/2 but the 1 was very fast. Its already filled the solo cup with roots. Lastly and probably most surprisingly was the directly into promix, 4/4 rooted though slightly slower than the rapid rooter method still provided 100% success rate. Ill be continuing with the gh flora series with additional additives and because we're heading into summer here and I dont have a chiller I've decided to run a sterile res with h202, no bennies :S but I think its the best choice for summer. Ill try to keep Temps down with frozen water bottles as I dont have access to hydroguard at the moment but as soon as I can cross that border I'll be loading up lol. So this is going to be very fun and exciting for my first time, I have four 5 gallon buckets connected to a 27g res. 2" pvc for return, 3/4 tube for inflow pushed by an 800gph pump. Aeration with be controlled by a 1300gph ecoplus air pump and some air discs from my local aquarium shop. We've got our 6" net pots read for the Gelato clones and well be filling with hydroton.
Quick question guys, I've been searching youtube for some diaries and tips and tricks for hydro and have been rather unsatisfied with the content I've found. Would anybody be Interested in a YouTube grow series where I can track the grow in close detail sharing my blunders and successes? I'd have to purchase a lot of equipment for recording and sound because there's enough poor quality cell phone recordings on there to go around. Let me know what you guys think! Happy growing!
Hey growmies I'm really delving into the youtube scene trying to establish myself. I'm fully relying on you guys for this. This is a learning experience for me and hopefully for u guys too. Alright guys we're in business now. Over the week I slowly raised the PPM from 200 to 350 and added in our rapid start. We've got nice white happy roots well into the water and we're starting to truly veg just now. I am however starting to struggle with my rez temps. They hit 82F yesterday, so I'm just cycling frozen water bottles into my rez until the large ice packs come in this weekend. They looked a bit sad yesterday I'm not gonna lie but we got our temps back under control for now and we're full steam ahead.

I have some big plans for this channel in the future (including better quality recording equipment). I plan on having a synthetic vs organic grow off with a buddy. Following my sweet seeds contest grow, and testing out a bunch of new genetics my friend is working on. Hope to see you there
Quick update this week. The nutes were pumped up to 480 ppm, I'm still not 100% on how I want to feed this girls because there's conflicting feed charts out the and some seem too little and some seem like way too much. the official one from GH says like 10ml/g of grow in week 2 and that seem pretty absurd to me? Does DWC really feed that much more heavily than coco??? Always everything looks really good I got them topped late in the week, and continue the never ending battle with fighting rez temps. If anyone has any suggestion for a good way aside from ice packs to keep these temps I'm all ears. Okay dwc might have won this round. Keeping our temps down has been a struggle since day 1, I've been changing ice packs every 4-6 hours to keep things in the low 70s. I've even bought a bar fridge to put my air pump in and picked up some insulation for the buckets but it may all be for not. I noticed everything stopped growing after my res change this week so I checked the roots. Brown and burned to shit. I realized I double dosed the h202 one day by smoking too much and adding stuff to my nutrient cocktail. When I ran my hand down the roots 80% of them just fell off. I've remedied my h202 methods and remain hopeful that the new roots will stay white and happy. Will they survive? Stay tuned
Hey guys, things are starting to turn around this week. The fight against root rot continues with daily hydrogen peroxide root cleanings of 1 part 3% 2 parts water. I've got my dr maryjane on the way, another 4 days and we can really get after this problem long term. Dr maryjane is a Canadian available alternative to hydroguard, it has the same species of bacteria and its pretty cheep to boot. We're finally seeing a little growth which is nice so we were able to start LST. Rez temps sitting between 68-70f so things are on the up and up. Also I've insulated my buckets and slapped my air pump in a mini fridge to cool the air going into the water. Hopefully we can fully recover by next week. Happy growing!

Hey guys! I think my battle with root rot is finally over, these girls were on life support for a couple weeks but we pulled them through. I emptied and thoroughly cleaned the rez and I added Microbial Mass and DR Maryjane (the canadian alternative to hydroguard) and it worked AMAZING. Roots exploded in the 7 days since I cut the h202 and added the bennies. The Dr.Maryjane is extremely cheap too, $50 bought me like 30 years worth lol. There are however still some darker spots in the roots but I'm going to give the doctor a little more time to work on the roots and I'm almost certain they'll get cleaned up very soon. Now we got some more training in to fill up the canopy a bit and things are looking really god so we're looking at flipping mid next week. This pheno has a huge stretch so I need to get ahead of it lol. Happy growing guys
Root rot. aint got nothing on me. Dr. Maryjane leaned out the back of my SUV and *brap brap* no more root rot. Seriously thought we got through it and not only are the girls recovered they're bloody thriving! The 4 of them are drinking 2 gallons a day and the root system is massive. The only thing keeping them from getting out of control is the scrog net that I slapped in there. I'm hoping they slow down and start focusing on making buds real soon but I hoped the same with their mother and last week I found this kid in my garage named jack trying to climb her talking some nonsense about golden eggs. We're one week into flower and it they're anything like momma bear these buds are going to be something to look forward to! Happy growing guys!

I knew these sassy ladies were gonna stretch hard on me... here we go again another tent full, lights zip tied to the top bar and a hell of a lot of defoliation to do in a tight space... go me.. The good thing is they look nice and healthy, started to get some tip burn on day 11 of flower so I changed out my rez and here we are sailing down the lazy hydroponic river.

The preflower stretch these Gelato go through is absolutely ridiculous. Once again my light its zip tied to the top of the tent and I'm kneeling on the other side praying they just stop growing. Starting to see the budsites filling up which is a good sign and we got some burned tips during the week so at res change we lowered fro. 850ppm to 680ppm. I hit them with a lollipop and final defoliation to get that air flowing and expose more bud sites. That's all folks, happy growing

I'm not going to write a novella for this week but these shits simply wont stop growing. I'm just shoving them down under the second scrog net so they don't start popping through the roof of my tent. I think my chances of having big colas are gone, the way I've had to stuff them down I'll be looking at a bunch of golf ball buds. ah well maybe I should try some autos, cant really fuck up the veg times on those :)

Honestly I give up, these things just dont stop growing. I'm just gonna let them grow until I either have a healthy stack of dried buds or my tent explodes from the internal pressure. Nothing else that can be done it is what it is. Fingers crossed!

Sorry I kinds fell behind on this and every other friggin diary. Circumstances beyond my control made me unavailable but the the grow must go on. What can I say, the bud smoke great but the potential I lost on these hurts a bit. I knew these things stretch like mofos and I still over veged, I didn't try the 24h of darkness method and basically walked myself right into another over populated tent. Bitches were 1 inch from the light towards the end and I bent and weaved until there was nowhere else to bed and weave. Lesson learned.... probably
