•100% germination rate
•Day 1( D1) marked by commencement of germination process.
Environment:
💡2 x 24W CFL (24/0)
🌰2 x Coco Jiffy Pellets → 1 x jiffy pot
🌡️T: 22-28°C || RH: ~60-70%
Germination timeline:
D1 (22 April): 2 seeds → paper towel
D3 (+48H): sprouting observed ✓
D4 (+72H): taproot ready for pellets ✓
★ transplant both sprouts→coco jiffy pellets
(D5) 🌱's emerge from top of jiffy pellets over the day. Irrigation with warm tap water 0.1EC.
(D6) 🌱 #1 - root has grown through side of pellet. Transplant to seedling stage Jiffy Pot. Coco saturated prior to transplant.
💧Fertigation initiated at 0.4 EC | 6.2 pH
💡 24/0 schedule until end of W2. (sunlight when possible).
D7 (28 April) - 🌱 #1 Fertigation @ 0.4EC/6.2pH
🌱 #2 root still not visible. Irrigation with warm tap water (0.1EC base).
D8 (April 29) - 🌱№² lagging, expect to transplant tomorrow. Fertigation sprout #1 0.4EC | pH6.1
D9 - 🌱№² root emerging slightly from bottom of pellet. Transplant to saturated coco jiffy pot. Fertigation 0.4 EC | pH 6.2.
🌱№¹ notably broader and sturdier. Appears to be tolerating current conditions well.
D10 (📅 1st March) - No news is good news. Fertigation @ 0.5EC| 6.2pH.
D11 - 🌱№¹ still the ⭐. 🌱№² dwarfed by her sisterling. Fertigation @ 0.5EC | 6.2pH
D12 - 🌱№¹ visible roots emerging through bottom of pot. Expect 2-3 more days before root system has colonized the media and seedling has grown 3 true sets of leaves/nodes.
❌ Issues (mistakes and concerns):
⛔🌡️Accidentally left a small heater running overnight - coco bone dry in both seedling pots.
⛔💧Forgot to pH water prior to Fertigation. Likely 6.5-6.7. Watered again @ 0.4EC|6pH immediately and + 12 hrs with significant run-off to counter any salt buildup from the dry wet cycle.
🔎⚠️ 🌱№² slight leaning noticed over last few days. Initially dismissed the sign as a natural lean towards the light source. Noted a small bend in the base of the stem at the coco. Seedling bent to side of pot when watering overnight forcing intervention. Temporarily displaced coco on top to find part of the stem underneath. Theory for the cause of this incident is the seed was planted too deep into the jiffy pellets after germination (I did mentally note this at the time however given I am still learning I decided to leave them a bit deeper than previous attempts to see if the seedlings are stronger for having to push further to break free. Lesson learned.
Rectified leaning stem by pushing down on the pellet area against the lean. This immediately erected the stem and allowed me to fortify the stems adjusted position with extra coco from the sides of the pot. media.
📇 As is tradition in GooeysGarden, I have formally named both plants:
🌱№¹ Mary-Kate
🌱№² Ashley
[D15](📅6 May)
💧 Fertigation at 0.4 EC.
❌💧 Should have increased EC by now, also need to increase Fertigation to 2× daily ... Consistently!
[D16]
🔍🌱drooping noticable, potentially signalling a desire for more root space.
💧Fertigation at 0.7 EC | pH 6.0 [× 2]
[D17]
Roots emerging in abundance from base of seedling pots.
🆙🌱 transplant →2 x 4L fabric pots
💦Saturated media of new pots immediately prior @0.7 EC | 6pH
•Plants moved to new grow space
🔆2× T5HO 24W + 3×24WCFLs.
💨 Oscillating Fan across canopy
🔍📝 Plants still droopy after transplant. Had them in the sun for hours today and did not notice any change (ruling out insufficient lighting as a cause).
[D18]
🧠🌱Droopy leaves theory #3
•initial Fertigation strength of 0.4EC was not adjusted until yesterday (0.4→0.7EC). Will continue to raise EC towards 1 and reassess.
💧 Fertigation at 0.9EC| 6pH (6am)(650ml/500ml). Run-off
🗒️ changed nutrient preparation process: •Added full strength nutrients to 5L of water givnng 1.9EC →seperated & dilluted 1L of full strength solution with 1L of water →lowered pH of dilluted solution to 6pH.

D22 [Thurs May 13]
D25 - Mary Kate is showing her strength, growing vigorously overnight into the T5s above. Have adjusted the light higher to rectify. She is growing her 6th node now and therefore am planning to top tomorrow! Unsure if I will mainline from there but looking likely.
🌱 Will clone the topped apical (if I remember..) as she's done nothing but impress so far. Wish I could say the same for her sister... Kids huh.
Ashely has not shown the vigour of her sister and would like to see her healthier before snipping off her head.
D25 (🗓️Mon 17 May) - 🎩The Toppening
✂️🌱Have topped Mary-Kate to the third node, will tidy up the growth below tomorrow. Make sure she's okay with the snip before I delete the growth below.
Both plants now a similar height, really highlights Ashley's sluggish attitude. Still undecided how I'll play her into flower, maybe some simple LST as she's not setting up to be a grower.
D34 (🗓️Wed May 26)
🎩The Toppening (Part 2 - Ashely)
➰ The LST has been almost ignored by Ashley as she continues to bend for the stars (or sun). Topped the top apical tip today (as she now has 3 inches taller than her sister) - Always reminding myself an even canopy is a good canopy!
🌱🔎⚠️ Mary-Kate
Stem is damaged between 2nd→3rd node. Grey/brown colouring suggests a pathogen however the isolated nature of the grey area + a noticable point of weakness/bending in the foundation of the stem xylem indicates external damage to the area. Theorising a CFL has fallen onto the plant and remained pressed against the plant, burning the stems foundation to a pilable state.
✂️ removed first 2 nodes of growth from each branch. Older growth was exhibiting the most deficient symptoms and did not look like it would recover well. I have no need to flip to flower at any specific time so I will continue to let her grow back the now missing foliage.
D43 - 📆June 4
Droopiness and strong signs of nutrient deficiencies are telling me she's not able to uptake what she needs from the coco.
💧 Flushed @ 0.8 EC - 8L
🗓️Week 8🗓️
📑 Notes:
🌱She's getting a bit too tall already, finding it difficult to place her comfortably in the tent with the others. if she wasn't showing symptoms of sickness again I'd consider flipping to flower.
⛔Also restricted by space as I do not have a dedicated photoperiod flower tent as the rest of the garden is stocked with autoflowers. Fair to say I did not think this through when I planted her first!
Day 54 [📆 Tues June 15]
Starting to show signs of deficiency again, I have been slack with the Fertigation consistency so it's likely a byproduct of skewed pH and high EC.
💧5L Flushed @ 0.8EC + 5.9→6.0 pH
🌊 run-off noted @ 0.8EC +/- 0
EC in and out were perfectly aligned immediately following the 5L Fertigation at half strength.
🗒️⚡EC spikes due to inconsistent fertigation frequency are typically more stubborn rectify - the swift alignment of the run-off and input EC (Both @ 0.8 after 5L) has forced me to reconsider the root cause of my plants cries for help.
📍🖊️ I have been slack with the care of my pH pen, often leaving it sitting for hours in freshly prepared plant food, floating away from the potential of hydrogen. To add insult, I have a resistance to calibrating the pen, and will do only when it feels pressing.
🚫🖊️Lack of calibration awareness was likely the cause of the first deficiency cascade, the pen was in dire need of a calibrate during the nutrient issues and I did not even think to think of it. When calibrating the pen, it was clear some of the previous pH🔻/🔺 adjustments would have contributed to a lockout in the rhizome.
D54 📆Wed June 16📆
Have been inconsistently trying to get her into darkness for at least 4 hours a night as I think the constant 24/0 cycle is increasing human error in line with a fussier hungrier plant. The multiple lockouts I have experienced so far are not solely the cause of the round the clock lighting however the snowball this creates:
1/drying out the media and;
2/ increasing nutrient needs for the plant
has outweighed any perceivable benefit for keeping this photoperiod in a 24/0 veg cycle.
Will reduce the wet dry cycle and increase Fertigation frequency to stabilize.
Full strength CaliMagic foliar spray.

💧Fertigation @ 0.9EC
→ 1L @ AM
→ 1L@ MIDDAY
💧1.2 EC
→1L @ 12AM (after her 4-6 hours of alone time in the darkness)
D56 (📆Thursday 17 June 📆)
⛲Will commence with pre flush strength nutrients again in an attempt to get her leaves looking vivacious asap.
💧 Fertigation: 1.4 EC | 6.0 pH @ 9AM
2l?
D61 (🗓️ Tues June 22)
🌿Continue to veg as I organise a new tent and light for my crowded 3x3. Given the others are all autos I will have to manually light dep her for the first few weeks while the 60 day autos finish up and leave me a full tent to play with just the photo.
D63
✂️Heavy defoliation!
🏥Hopefully can recover from her many ailments before flowering really kicks into gear
D66 --> Flowering D1(🗓️ Sat June 26🗓️)
I feel like I've stripped her down more than is appropriate - first time with such bare stems going into flower.
Flowering D7 (🗓️2nd July🗓️)
🥃House and Garden Drip Clean started at 0.1ml/L
❇️W² la Stretch 🚦
✴️D⁸ ___📆July 3📆___
mindful of any significant stretching as she's already 2ft/60cm tall!
D74(📆July 5📆)
➰Tied down some her the taller branches to even the canopy. Tried to tuck the branches in Esther than out to conserve growing space.
✂️Will remove some of the side shoots soon as I'm trying to keep her braches as clean as possible... hoping for some big boppa single buds on most main branches if I remove most side shoots. Experiment mostly!
💮W³
❇️D¹⁵ 📆Sat July¹⁰
🔆→🌑 She's been under manual light dep. since switch as the rest of the garden is chockers with auto flo's.
Touch wood but she appears to be gliding through the stretch stage of flowering with little fuss. Her lack of any actual foliage from the waist down might mean she's just got nothing to complain about !
🌱📏
Amanda Bynes is still loitering behind the 2ft tall wall - some simple LST to tie most of the leading branch heads down as Amanda Bynes transitioned. Given there weren't too many leaders it wasn't difficult to fold a few branches back on themselves or tuck back and in. I did the tuck method because given her width already I'm hesitant to allow her to explore her breath any further.
🌾Can assume that most of the "stretch" has been essentially absorbed by the curved over and under bad boy branches tied to each other/themselves... Hopefully allowing the benders time level out an even canopy.
⚖️ She's entering Big Bertha territory, with a wingspan of at least her height... if not more (2ft that is...)
D¹⁹ (📆 Wed July 14)
💧☘️ Near nightly foliar with full strength CaliMagic @ 🔆 OFF as she still looks a bit off colour (however much healthier than any past stage)
⚡EC 1.2 - 1.3
➕ H&G Drip Clean @ 0.1ml (full strength)
•Being careful not to overfeed her during the stretch as she hasn't been a healthy girl all her life and I would prefer to creep up rather than hit her hard too quickly. Also not seeing any visible signs of a need for anything stronger.
✂️📝Assume the heavy Defoliation pre flip has made her less hungry with less foliage to feed.
D²⁰ 📆Thurs July¹⁵
📏Her end of W³ weigh in puts her at 2ft tall and 3ft wide. Biggest plant I've grown, however she's currently sharing a 3x3 with two autos starting W¹².
🎪 All things going well the autos will be done sooner rather than later allowing Amanda Bynes to really stretch her legs with the 3x3 to herself.

D22 July 17
All sailing smoothly. Not too much stretch since the initial burst which I am very thankful for. White pistils starting to pop up exponentially.
No regrets in stripping most of her lower and mid growth/foilage before flip, she has become very easy to manage and seems to be helping her stay pest resistant.
D28 July 23
She has only put on another 5-10cm/3" and will likely stop reaching higher now shes 4 weeks into flower.
PK 13/14 to be introduced next week - 1/4 strength
8 week flowering guide by Ethos so hopefully half way there!
❇️ D²⁹ | 📆July ²⁴
🎋at least 8 strong branches comprising her magestic canopy.
as an experiment, I left only one branch with a full length of bud sites, the rest were stripped of everything below the top third.
•🌾curious to see if the branch with laddered bud sites impacts the growth of the top cola.
•⚡Assuming less energy to just the top floral cluster's will result in a less dense top but hopefully we see an overall higher yielding branch training type.

🌞she's been enjoying the sunshine recently and I've left her outside fór a few days in a row, more than once....and she seems content out in the backyard!
🔥Current temperatures are nearing 20°C during the day with cloudless sunshine.
❄️ my main concern is the dips towards 13/15°C at night as I've read multiple times they can't function effectively below 15°C.
📈So far, if that's the case she shrugging it off lightly.
