Well, here we go with my second grow of the Original Amnesia Haze Auto from Fastbuds. The seed was part of the December 2020 diary of the month prize package and you can see my first try of this strain here: https://growdiaries.com/diaries/100096-grow-journal-by-growpotkin
I used the paper towel method and it took about four days for the seed to be ready to plant. It took a few days (probably 2.5) to show any signs of life, but then it's made good progress.
For this second attempt I've added Dynomyco to the mix and I'm planting in 20L of soil instead of 5L. I'm hoping this doesn't slow it down too much: I'd really like to get this one done in under 12 weeks. Anyway! My tent is a bit short for big sativas, so I'll probably FIM and scrog since I've had big success with that before (even if it slows things down a bit). My first run I didn't do anything really, just a little very light LST and defoliation but nothing else. So I'm changing a lot of variables here but we'll see how it goes. I've also wet the soil with 150mL of water with Root Juice diluted at 1mL per L.
Super pumped for this second run. Wish me luck!
It broke through the surface after only about 12 hours in the soil. Not super fast to this point, but am happy with no problems! Am feeding a tiny bit of root juice every third watering.
Pretty pumped to see four stalks emerging! Decided to top this week since it’s going well. It was a little slower to see vertical growth but am putting that down to the pot size and Dynomyco. Excited to see this one get bigger.
Wow! You go away for a week and what a growth. Very pleased with my topping and am now LSTing. Might scrog if it’s slow to flower, but otherwise will just stick to LST. Starting to smell a little already!
Another good week. It started flowering at the beginning of the week and is going strong. It’s much thirstier this week, but it’s also really warm at the minute. I’ve alternated flowering and growth nutes; trying really hard not to accidentally overdo it this time. Some very light speckling on a leaf and am starting to see purple stems on a few fan leaves, so added in a little more bio grow and calmag today.
It’s been super hot this week, but we’ve finally got a bit of rain and so temps have dropped. This one seems to like the heat and high humidity though! Trichromes popped up about 6 days ago and they’re already looking much more developed. Really impressed with the speed of this one (so far). Still light on nutes—using about half of what the feeding schedule suggests, but it seems happy. Some purple stems slowly spreading, but nothing dramatic so far.
I don’t want to jinx things, but so far really happy with how this one is going. Definitely my smoothest grow to date. I think the trick is cutting the Biobizz feeding schedule in half when growing in Allmix.
The buds are fattening up well and am excited for future growth. Won’t be getting a vast number of nugs but looks like they might be big ones. Smell is moderate to strong at this point, so I doubt this would work for a stealth grow. But really pleased with the speed and ease of growing.
Another good week! Buds getting big—excited to see all this growth. Some amber trichromes but clearly plenty of growth left (and mostly still clear trichs anyway). Cutting my nutes has definitely helped big time. I also finally figured out that my perennial bug problem is fungus flies. Sticky paper and neem oil has solved the problem right away and I think a lot of my previous nute issues might have been down to those bugs. Anyway, all good now!
Another good week. No sign of the fungus flies, which I’m really glad about. A few very small rust spots on a few leaves, so added a little Algamic in addition to the calmag. Probably another week or two to go.
Okay, so the yield clearly says I shouldn’t have topped. This strain grows too fast for that. But otherwise I really like growing this one. It’s super fast, low maintenance, and tastes great. My recommendation is to cut the feeding schedule in half especially if you’re using a hot soil mix. It’s a smelly one so bear that in mind if it’s an issue. But this one was so low maintenance I barely did anything at all once I topped. I only removed a few leaves! But definitely will just do light LST next time. Other than that, I'd say this strain did really well with our recent heat wave. Temps in the day got up to 30-31 degrees in the tent, but this plant never had any problems at all. Fast and easy, what more could you want?
But yeah, I really like this one! Thanks Fastbuds for the good genetics and the free seeds. Will definitely grow again!
