Hey bud, welcome to my Growdiary for my third grow featuring Stracciatella by T.H.Seeds.
My favourite smoke ever was Do-Si-Do grown by a local coffeeshop, so when this strain popped up as a limited edition on Zamnesia, I knew I had to pick up a pack for myself, as Stracciatella is a cross between Dosidos and Strawbanana cream. T.H.Seeds describes its taste as creamy with chocolate sprinkles, that sounds fancy, the flowers also look beautiful, and I would love to see some color in my garden.
My germination method is pretty standard, I drop the seed into a glass of luke warm water placed inside a propagator on top of a seed mat, I leave it overnight but usually this step only takes a few hours untill the seed is fully saturated with water, starting the germination process.
then I'll drop the seed in a seed pellet and cover it by squeezing the top shut.
This time it took 26 hours before the seed surfaced, and another 24 hours later until I had a healthy little sapling, my fastest germination yet. I am looking for a mother in these 7 seeds, It's probably not going to be this little fella, but who knows, she sure is off to a great start.
This will be a hydroponic grow, using a Bubble bucket built from a food safe 5 gallon mayonnaise container that I got from an industrial kitchen, and a Netpot from Alien RDWC, a system I would love to be able to afford one day. I'll show pictures of the bucket, and the rest of my setup
in week 1.
28/05/2021 is what I will consider day 0, the germination process took a little less than 50 hours this time around. I also made a little oopsie and forgot about humidity, the tent was 38% RH at the time of transplanting, this is not good, our little sprout was used to 100% humidity inside of her warm little dome, I likely shocked and stunted her. The plant spend a full day under these low humidity conditions and will bounce back and hopefully resume vigorous growth.
I'll be running Plagron nutrients, they're a local company and have a great reputation for use with marijuana, Ill use their schedule as a guideline for feeding. The reason I have already filled the bucket and transplanted is because this is my very first DWC run, I want to see how pH rises in my setup before roots hit the solution, there's plenty of oxygen bubbling up through the clay pellets so our plant should be fine, nature will figure it out, or won't and we'll walk away with a lesson learned, I'm not scared to make mistakes when it comes to this hobby, I respect and learn from every mistake I make, half the fun is trying new stuff and seeing how the plants react.
I'll be using the same grow setup from my other diaries, a Mars Hydro tent and light, both have served me well and I feel like I finally have an idea how to use the TS1000 without light burning my plants, we shall see if that holds true in the future.
The bucket is a food safe mayonnaise bucket from an industrial kitchen, the pump is a small pond pump, should be enough for our little 5 gallon bucket, I have tied both airstones together under the net pot, The net pot is from an alien RDWC system, its nice and soft plastic, if you are in the market for a crazy expensive RDWC system, check out Alien, if the rest of their system is as good a quality as their net pots, sheesh.
I dont have a chiller and summer is around the corner, so we will be battling water temperature, that will be interesting for sure!
Thank you for checking out week 0. I'm sure next week's update will include some actual plant growth, it's always a bit slow to start, got to give the little thing the time to get established.
Enjoy the rest of your week and keep growing!
@Canna96, Using a Samsung Galaxy s20. it has a wide angle lens for close ups, I oddly prefer it to a jewellers loupe or a Microscope for checking trichomes :)
Great job taming that female so far!!!
Nice canopy coverage.. she is looking really healthy aswell :D
Seems like she took some time to transition to flower, the buds are a bit underdeveloped for week 4 of flower, I am surprised she already has resin coverage, looking like she might turn out special :D
Good luck with the rest of the grow m8!
@BelgianBudtender,
Nice!
Good that she is not showing hermie signs... I had that too often in my past year of DWC grows with heavy defoliations...
In DWC with green sensation I used to put around 1/3 of the dosage, not more than 1/2, and I would give it starting around day 21 of flower -> basically when they are done stretching. I guess in DWC the dosage also depends on how much small air bubbles you pump in the water, the more air the more nutrients they can take up I think, anyway if you passed the first 3 weeks of flower and don't notice much stretch I would definitely add green sensation and if you want to be careful just start at low dosage e.g. 0.2ml/L
@Slurpy_Terpy, Yup I noticed that, too. I did have some slip ups in the first or second week of flower, I wonder if that caused the delayed flowering, or if its just the strain its a 9 week finisher, not a lot of diaries out there to compare to. I'm keeping a vigilant eye for any bananas or hermies, but so far I seem to have dodged that bullet.
that or I should've started adding PK sooner, either way, I'm running 1 Ml/l of Plagron Green sensation now in week 5 so she'll have plenty, The plant has also been completely stripped of the overgrown and shaded foliage so there's little other places aside from buds for her to focus her energy on now :P
Hi! Looking good but really cannot see buds very well, maybe you can take some pics after light off with flash? Always looks so much betrer and trichomes are more visible...
Even when leds on with a flash gives better pics too.
Anyway all the best fellow Gardener!
Hello there! Thank you for sharing your time lapse video, I love to watch those!
That is when you truly see in fact those are not only leafs but wings too!
Yes the heat can stunt them... if you have the chance to move your grow to a better cooler place I would do it especially with hydro water might be too warm, do you use hydrogen peroxide in your system? You can use some ozone too and rinse those tubing, it helps getting rid of gunk, and a weaker solution passed through to roots also helps keeping them white and fresh...
All the best for this week!
