its about time to start getting ready for that time of year. I plan on growing a gift for my parents. on for a white elephant gift. for a group of friends. and a gift for me.
for my parents i am growing Fuel D.og from seedsman seeds. chemdawg is one of my dads favorite strains and mom sure doesn't mind it. but its been really hard to find around here. so when i saw this from their 420 sale. Mixing chemdawg with fuel og. sounds like a solid option to grow for them.
for the white elephant gift i wanted to go something lighter since we aren't sure who will get it so sour diesel should be great and it came free with my order from seedsman.
the gift for me i got one that im hoping will be the most beautiful to watch grow. the one, the only Granddaddy Purple. I cant wait to see what colors it shows.
Oh, and to fill out the tent a free white widow sounds like fun.
I started by getting a shot glass of water for each seed and soaking for 24 hours. The next day the seeds were placed in a paper towel until the tap root is visible. By the next morning the tap roots were out so I placed the seeds into soil blocks to sprout in. all seeds sprouted. over the next few days the seedlings got a bit leggy so I lowered the lights. Finally on the last day of the week the tap root shot out of the bottom of all the soil cubes so I placed them low in their new pots to give them more space but also burry down the long stalk. the pots are filled with happy frog soil mixed with Mychorrhizal inoculant.
not too much to update this week. kept them in their clear dome to keep humidity high until they outgrew them . i will most likely transplant them to their full 5 gal pot soon.
well it has been a rough week.
I started the week by finding out i have overwatered and the plants weren't looking great. made the decision to keep them and see it through. they have healed well though and are bouncing back nicely after allowing the soil to dry out.
but just as the plants are starting to look better i wake up on the day i post this to see my grow light has died. any recommendations on what to get to replace it? right now i have my spare burple light on it but want a little more power.
well here we go this week.
mostly standard until Wednesday when the new light arrived. I got a Mars Hydro TS 600. should cover my needs and is much brighter then what I had. With the lights here I decided to swap the plants to 5 gallon fabric pots. The first 3 went pretty standard but when I swapped the GDP its dirt and root ball just kinda collapsed in my hand. As a result the plant was having trouble staying up right so i stuck in a wire to help hold it up until the roots rebound. a few days later and its looking much better with some signs of strong growth.
finally a week with nothing really going wrong. GDP has made a great recovery this week and is now standing on its own.
plants have jumped up a third in height so i started topping this week
nice easy week. defoliated the lower fan leaves. they keep growing and looking better and better. the Fuel D.og by seedsman is showing an interesting mutation growing fan leaves with 9 points. I just thought it was cool.
starting to get some crisping at the point of the leaves not sure if its a deficiency or burn yet though. id guess deficiency based on it hasn't had any feedings yet.
sorry im late this week. i have started feeding the girls some fox farm brand food to take care of the deficiency i noticed last week and will continue feeding. also did some HST to bend the top of the plant over a bit to open up more light for the rest of the plan. all the plants did well except sour diesel. its whole top section snapped off. luckily we are still in veg and it has recovered nicely. i also did some lollipopping on the plants for more light penetration.
the plants seem to have bounced back nicely once they were given the nutes they wanted and are growing great. not much else to report this week but tomorrow thee plants will sleep in for the first time as we start flower.
we are half way there!
the stretch is continuing nicely and flowers are starting to appear. another great week for the plants. really shooting up in height. took them off their veg food and switched over to tiger bloom for the remainder of feedings.
