Time for a fresh start. Changed my starting soil mix to feature more rock dust, myco and added some mushroom compost to the mix. Seed popped after a few days and has been growing happily since. I can't drop my light too much as I have a lot of veggies growing in there now, so there might be some stretching to start out.
The plan this time is to try and grow nice fat stem/stalk/trunk, keep the top count lower and see how fat I can get the buds. Growing 3 other strains along side this one.
Continues to grow like a beast, and the stalk is thickening up. Started introducing nutrients very slowly so as not to overwhelm.
Next week will likely be the first regular feeding and a move to her 3gallon pot.
Transplanted to their forever pots at the start of the week and added white clover as cover crop.
Soil contains:
Gaia Green 4/4/4
Gaia Green Alfalfa Meal
Gaia Green Insect Frass
Gaia Green Basalt Rock Dust
Gaia Green Glacial Rock Dust
Bacterial innoculent
Various mycos
Kelp Meal
Dug deep enough to transplant, dusted each root ball and hole with various mycos and some Basalt Rock Dust. Going for a higher silica level to get some fatter stems and branches. Nice short and squat so far. She is looking a bit hungry so I might give her some liquid nutes as a buffer.
I think she's really showing her sativa DNA, tall and lanky =/ Hopefully I can get her to fatten up in the next few weeks before flower with some extra silicates. Main lined to 16 tops, she got some crazy roots, and hopefully I keep seeing more of that layer peeling.
Not too thrilled with the Cake thus far with it's long, gangling and very uneven nodes. I can only hope it ends up doing more in flower, but so far this pheno would not be considered a keeper. I also have a Blueberry and a Papaya I'm not doing diaries on, but those are looking much nicer.
Much taller than the Cream Caramel, but she's starting to fill out at least. Node spacing not the greatest, but gave her a trim and will put her into flower starting today, so she got her primary feeding:
2 cups Promix
1 cup Worm Castings
1/2 cup Mushroom compost
1/8 cup Bokashi
1/4 cup Six Row Malted Barley (grinded)
and the nutrients listed in the journal.
Also found a mild thrip problem so I had to give the plants a soap spray every 3 days. No movement on the leaves today, but I may spray them again midweek before they start showing pistils.
Not much for feeding this week, accept for the Rezin and some blood meal since she's not as dark green as I would like. Nodes are looking okay so I'm leaving it at current light distance to keep them closer together.
Did a large trim and another spray for thrips. Microbe populations are also looking good.
Added supplemental CO2
Some really nice bud growth this week, nodes aren't too bad and go all the way down. Trimmed off the lower buds and branches that won't reach the height I want by the end of stretch, along with some of the center leaves that might block the light. The oils/resin have just started to appear, and trichomes should start forming by the end of the week.
Pretty happy with the bud growth and overall health of the plant. She was looking a bit hungry for Nitro so I added some Bokashi. Trichomes have started to appear and I'm looking forward to some bulk in the coming week.
The Cake has started fading about 1 to 2 leaves a day, it has plenty left so it can drain away all it wants. Getting some suprisingly nice cola growth and has already surpassed my earlier expectations. Louder 'classic' weed smell but not quite distinct enough to made a judgement. Fed the essentials.
Very happy with bud growth this week and had to tie some twine around her to keep the branches from falling over. Gave her the weeklies plus 1 cup worm castings, 2 Tbsp Power Bloom, 1/4 cup Bokashi since she looks hungry and shows no signs of being overfed.
This girls is hungry and thirsty as fuck; always drying out and fading hard before my other plants. Shows no signs of stopping though as the colas keep getting longer, and I can't wait to see how fat those get in the coming weeks. Trichomes are looking good and she smells like pungent frosting with a hint of vanilla. I had to stake her up though since, as predicted weeks ago, she's buckling under her own weight.
Fattened up a tad, but still budding upwards. Fed her some sugars and acids to help finish, but this may end up being her last week. Still smelling like frosting=)
Nothing but de-chlorinated water this week while she finishes. Going through a lot of her leaves, smelling even stronger than last week, and still fattening. She'll likely make it another week.
As mentioned, the smell was an amazing vanilla frosting with notes of pine. Early growth was very lanky and thin, and almost dashed my hopes of seeing a strong plant with this pheno. She faded nicely and had almost no leaves left by harvest, so trim was easy. Was the tallest plant in the tent, but also produced the fattest buds and I was far from disappointed with the end product. Just hope I get a beefier pheno next time=)
