Germination

Greendiary Just followed Crop Kings instructions and dropped the seeds in water. Once they sunk when tapped, I transferred them to a wet paper towel. The Lambs Bread was the last to sink and the last to crack open but turned out to be twins!

Greendiary Lambs Bread twins sprouted and I separated by them within the first day or so of sprouting. I didn't take any pictures but basically used a toothpick and gently pushed back soil until I could see the tap root all the way down. Then I gently separated the sprouts (they were already twisted and don't look like they would have grown well together) and put the smaller in its own pot. Everything else went smoothly. I used ziplock bags with a small hole in the corner as little humidity domes after germination and until sprout but removed them once they were above ground. My water pH is high, testing around 8. Will probably need to figure that out in coming weeks

Greendiary Everything is growing smoothly. About halfway through the week I set up a bucket to adjust pH. Just using pH down and letting sit. The plants seem to be responding well. I noticed that two of the sprouts were laying over. I think I had kept the light turned down too low. Over the second half of the week I slowly turned the dimmer up from 50% to 100% while increasing the distance to about 24". In addition to adjusting the light I added an inch or so of soil to help support the stems. It seems to have worked out well so far

Does anyone have any input on these leaves color and shape? There are 2 of these plants and this is the only one doing it. I have seen a few gnats around this plant in particular but not sure if that is the issue?

Hello fellow grower, judging by the pictures and the leaves on your plant You're either running into a deficiency or your plants are getting locked out from nutrients due incorrect pH range in your soil. Nats are very common in horticulture and don't cause major issues unless the numbers get out of control. When I start seeing gnats I use yellow sticky pads in each of my pots to reduce the population of gnats. If the population still climbs and gets out of control you can look into beneficial nematodes for your grow. Myself and others have had very good success using beneficial nematodes to control gnats. But to me this issue like I said looks more like a deficiency or pH issue. To make sure it's not the pH issue either use a pH soil meter to check the soil or simply water with a pH of 6.5 and measure the pH of the runoff ( water that comes out of the pot ). If it's out of the range of 5.8 to 7.0 then that will be your issue. If the runoff of your pH is within range then you may want to look in to feeding your plants with some high quality nutrients. Hope this helps! 👍

Watered at 6.5 pH and runoff was at 5.5. I am going to start watering at a higher pH today and continue measuring runoff. Should I stop feeding at this time? I have been feeding 1/2 dosage of Fox farms trio with every watering last 2 weeks. Is there likely soil build up to flush?

Water, water, feed, water, water, feed is the most useful schedule, that way the plant uses everything you added before you add any more nutrients. Yes, feeding each and every irrigation can lead to nutrient salts building up to toxic levels, no need to flush, just start with the water, water, feed routine. I would suggest going to 18/6, 4 hours of "sleep" may not be quite enough for a healthy metabolism. You won't be missing out on anything by going to 18/6, in fact, results may even be better from a plant that is getting sufficient "sleep". I would also be adding a cal/mag supplement and a soluble blend of trace elements (available at nearly every garden centre) to boost her health. Hope this helps, Organoman.

Greendiary Some are definitely looking more developed that others. The OG Kush buds look dense! I'm not sure how much longer to expect they will all take to finish?

How long have they been flowering? To me it seems both need at least 2-3 more weeks. There are a lot of white pistils still growing. The plants will swell the most the last few weeks, Hang in there!!

Greendiary Had an emergency outside the grow tent that impacts my grow environment. Found mold under the stairs on the opposite side of the basement and freaked out. I closed off and sealed up the closet under the stairs and decided to harvest and dry immediately so I can get the bud out of here and then deal with the mold issue. I'm keeping fans and dehumidifier running nonstop and hoping the buds don't get moldy. Temps are around 67° and Rh is tent is hovering at 70, thinking about running a small space heater to try to accelerate drying. Any input appreciated!

Nice plants friend! Why do you use containers under smart pot? I use smart pot too but I never used containers Sweet hugs from us ❤️❤️❤️ If you want to support us take a look to our diary and please leave a comment! @CHILLING_RACOONS, I put containers under the pots because I was worried water would drain through into the floor of the tent making a muddy mess but I haven't ever seen water drain all the way out. I see people say they water til runoff but I've never felt confident dumping that much water on them! How much would you be watering autos at this stage?
CHILLING_RACOONS
CHILLING_RACOONS commented4y ago
@Greendiary, I don't have nothing under the smart pot because I need water goes off the pot. In your situation I would water about 1.5Lt a day, smart pot need more water than "classic" pots
Greendiary
Greendiary commented4y ago
@CHILLING_RACOONS, Ok make sense, I'm giving them 6 cups a day which is pretty close to 1.5 L but I haven't seen runoff.
CHILLING_RACOONS
CHILLING_RACOONS commented4y ago
@Greendiary, maybe you should give more water to see the runoff once a week. It prevents nutrient lockout
MarijuanaMiyagi
MarijuanaMiyagi commented4y ago
@Greendiary, so for my 5 gallon pots I use anywhere from 10 - 12 liters to get about 1 liter or so of runoff everytime I water it. Lift it heavy doesn't need water. Lift it a few days later and if its light and dry water it the same way again at 6.5 ph.

MarijuanaMiyagi commented4y ago
@CHILLING_RACOONS, i use risers made for fabric pots to keep airflow coming from all sides to keep air pruning roots and avoid that rootbound bother. Plastic like 2 bucks a piece for 14" diameter.
CHILLING_RACOONS
CHILLING_RACOONS commented4y ago
@MarijuanaMiyagi, yeah use risers is the best solution!

6.5 ph seems to be the sweet spot for soil. I am not sure if it's the way the light is coming off on your plant or if it is a little bit hungry. Remember after the soil is depleted you're feeding every watering. Autos I stay at 1/2 dose for each warering with about 10 % run off to keep salts from building up(if using say Advanced nutrients, etc) Keep water out in a room plants love water at right temp and EC. Looks good. My biggest piece of advice is embrace error because it's gonna happen and learn from your mistakes, patience is paramount in learning. They are a very resilient plants but autos have limitations and mistakes really can hurt you if they get stunted check out my runt in my log. Autos also veg for anywhere from 3-5 weeks before truly entering the flowering stage so despite seeing pistils still keep up with veg nutes for a week or two and last veg feed add in a bit of bloom and less micro/grow. Hen feed following that just calmag and bloom will get ya a nice harvest. 👍 Enjoy the hobby its alot of fun.

@MarijuanaMiyagi, Thank you so much for all the great advice! I have been keeping water out overnight before watering but I have started feeding half dosage of Fox farms trio with every watering. The plants seem to be responding well

MarijuanaMiyagi commented4y ago
@Greendiary, no problem it is a pay it forward kind of thing. All my knowledge came from others who took the time to help me out and now I do the same for the very same reason. What I thought I knew about growing prior to growing in a tent was almost laughable. 😳 I was clueless as one could be. Now it's a cake walk. I never have issues unless a mishap happens which invariably always will 😉 difference is how quickly and effectively I can respond to them. You will always learn something new of you're willing in this hobby. Cheers Growseph!
