Hello everyone and welcome back to my page and my NEWEST grow. I am so excited to get this grow started as I am working off two previously grow knowledge and grows that had great success including my last one which I am still enjoying today.
I am working with two FANTASTIC sounding strains from two heralded breeders. I have two Strawberry Bananas from Big Head Seeds and two Blue Gelato 41s from Barney’s Farm. Both expecting to be juicy delicious and highly potent I am so excited. Let’s get started!
Week of 7/24-7/30
7/24 - I dropped the seeds into shot glasses
7/25 - seeds sank which means they’re ready to move on to paper towel. One or two already look like they’re growing a tap root and cracking!
7/27 - three seeds are cracked with good looking taps, I placed those into solos with basic potting soil and placed on window sill. one BG41 hasn’t budged at all. Place another seed in the towel as a back up.
7/29- all three had sprouted out of soil, the new seed cracked and put out a tail so I put that into the cup
7/30 - put all four under the grow light and into the grow tent, let’s go! I noticed the fourth one came out, so we now have all four up and going!
Really looking forward to this grow and using LST techniques. I want to try to minimize the time spent on this one and make it more streamlined. I need to stay on top of watering and keep up the great work with PH and nutrients last run.
Week 7/31 - 8/6
Not much to report here, having heat issues so I bought a small AC fan that I hope will help reduce temps. Humidity is low but may be RH to temp. Some curling leaves may be associated with the high heat but new growth looks healthy.
8/1 watered with regular tap water
8/4 watered with 6.1 PH
Week of 8/7-8/13
Another week gone by, the ladies have been withstanding high heat in my grow area so I added a small ac fan which helps a little. Outside temps are going to cool over next weeks so hoping that impacts plants. By time done flowering it will be Oct/Nov so will be cold just in time. Thinking about transplanting this round, I’m thinking just put them in their final 5 gallon pots now instead of smaller then transplanting around flower. I’d rather truck right through and avoid issues in multiple transplants. Will transplant on Sunday. They’ve been in regular potting soil and are maybe getting hungry.
8/8 watered with 6.2 PH
8/11 watered with 6.2 PH
Week of 8/14-8/20
8/14 light watering with 6.3PH
8/15 transplanted into final 5 gallon pots. Decided not to do a second transplant and just go straight into the final pot. Using fox farm ocean forest. Used mychorazae on the roots before transplanting.
8/16 noticed before that one BG was yellowing at bottom and figured they were hungry. Hoping new nutrient rich soil will help but also wanted to soak them into the new pots. Tent is still hot and will be for next 3-4 weeks. Watered 2 gallons with 4 ml cal mag (rec 6-10), 8ml grow big (20-30), 10 ml big bloom food (120ml), 15 ml sticky sweet (rec 10-30), at 6.3 PH
8/18, watered 2 gallons at 6.5PH
Ladies are taking off in veg and loving their new pots. The two Blue Gelatos (on the left) are about double the height of the two Strawberry Bananas (on the right). Tent is still hot but not seeing any heat stress, got a couple fans going. Will start light stress training. Thinking of not topping this grow and just seeing if I can do enough LST to make up for that.
Week of 8/21-8/27
Great week of growth! All the girls are getting bigger. The Blue Gelatos are taking off in size and branches and the Strawberry Bananas are still pretty stocky and smaller. It must be the genetics! Doing a decent amount of LST and leaf tucking to develop more tips. The BGs are super easy to train given their size. I did crack the stem of one doing too hard of a LST but it seems to be OK. The SBs are a bit more tricky, one is smaller and I only have one tie down but they’re both showing more tops so it will take some time. I’m thinking another two weeks of veg at this point.
8/21 watered 2 gallons at 6.4 PH
8/22 LST
8/23 watered watered 2 gallons with 6ml cal mag (6-10), 10ml grow big (20-30) at 6.5PH
8/24 LST
8/25 watered 2 gallons at 6.45PH
Next two weeks I’ll be upping the nutes and continuing LST, maybe some defoliation to create my canopy. Editors note: the sprout in the solo is my newest diary and not part of this diary.
Week of 8/28-9/3
Great week of veg, all four are getting larger and developing about 12+ tops each due to LST. There is still a size disparity between the Blue Gelatos and the Strawberry Bananas with the BGs being larger but the SBs are catching up. Very bushy and stout and BGs have more space in nodes and larger. No issues other than hot in tent. Temps are going down outside which helps but temps are still 80-85. I’m going to increase water amount since I’ve been noticing that there is no runoff after 2.5 gallons and they’re getting dry. I’m thinking flip to flower after this week coming week. Last week or two of veg!
8/28 Watered 2 gallons w 6 ml cal mag (6-10), 15 ml grow big (20-30), 15 sticky sweet (10-30), 6.5 PH
8/30 watered 2.5 gallons of 6.3 PH water
9/1 2.5 gallons, 6 ml calmag, 20 ml grow big, 6.4 ph
9/3 watered 2.5 gallons 6.4 PH
Week of 9/4-9/10
This was a weird week! I actually went out of town from 9/7-9/11 and watering was a huge need while I was gone. Came back plants are still healthy and strong. The BG41s were most wilted and the SBs looked great and have grown quite a bit. I am flipping to flower next week!
9/4 - LST
9/5 - 5 gallons, 20 ml calmag (15-25), 50 ml grow big (50-75), 6.4-6.5 PH, but only gave them about 4 gallons
9/7 - last minute watering 5 gallons around 6.4PH
Week of 9/11-9/17
First week of flower wrapped up. These girls are getting large and filling up the tent. They are drinking more and more but I think I’ve got them stabilized around 4-5 gallons. Still having heat problems from outside and now the dehumidifier I’ve got, it’s putting out a lot of hot air now, which I don’t remember from before. Switched out PH pen, noticed my yellow old one had some black residue near bulb and I cleaned it off but fired up my apera pen and my yellow is off by 0.2 PH so I wonder how long that was off lol! Oh well not much if it’s been like that.
9/11 - watered 4 gallons around 6.4ph, first day of flower
9/12 - slight defoliation, noticed some dead lowers
9/13 - watered 5 gallons, 4ml gal calmag, 10ml grow big, 10ml tiger bloom, 10.2 ml food, 6.2PH
9/16 - plants were looking droopy so I’m thinking 2-3 days max between watering snow and will likely tighten up as they flower. gave 5 gallons of 6.2-6.3ph water. Had issues with yellow ph pen, fired up the apera. Seeing some lower leaves wilt, wondering if having PH issues or under watering causing this. Plants are huge
No sex or flowers yet but need to get temps down and humidity down. Onto next week!
Week of 9/18-9/24
Wow what a week of growth as the girls are all taking off in flower during this stretch. Makes me look back at my first grow on here and shudder! Lol
Canopy is a little uneven the Blue Gelato 41s have bushed out and are HUGE in such a good way but they are about 4-5 inches taller than the Strawberry Bananas. The entire tent is full and is a little difficult working in the dehumidifier. All are showing female sex which is good as they were feminized seeds but nice to confirm. One note for future grows is to keep the two closet dehumidifiers on the ground, not ceiling of tent. I’m really excited to see the flowers and buds develop over the next 7 weeks!
9/18 5 gallons with 4ml/gal calmag (3-5), 12ml/gal tiger bloom (10-15), 10ml/gal grow big, 6.2 PH
9/20 watered 4.5 gallons at 6.2 PH
9/23 droopy today, need to water every other day, 4.5 gallons at 6.2 ph
On to the next week! Only problems right now is battle between high tent temps and humidity. My dehumidifier is putting out a lot of heat which it didn’t used to, making me think it’s dirty or defective but it still collects water. So I’m struggling between keeping it on and getting high temps to adjusting light. Need to take a look at it and fix it or consider replacement. I’ve seen one or two fungus gnats which I kilt. I have a yellow trap up just to see if it’s widespread.
Week of 9/25-10/1
Another week of flower gone by. Ladies are looking great! They’ve really filled out the tent big time. Virtually no space now in the canopy haha. Really wild. All four are huge bushes and getting good flowering sites. Still early so nothing special in photos yet.
9/25 cleaned up lower leaves, 5 gallons, with 4ml cal mag (3-5), 12ml tiger bloom (10-15), at 6.3 ph
9/28 5 gal, 6.4 ph
10/1 plants got droopy by noon, 5 gallons with 4ml cal mag, 10ml tiger bloom, 12ml of big bloom at 6.2ph
Let’s keep this going! Issues at the moment, still have some heat issues in tent and with my dehumidifier but plants are doing great.
Week of 10/2-10/8
Another good week of flowering. Buds are starting to develop more and stretching seems to be over. Very jungly! Did start to notice some possibly deficiencies and issues with one strawberry banana. Seems like low PH at roots.
10/2 - cleaned up lower leaves
10/3 - watered 5 gallons at 6.3ph, noticed some possible cal deficiency/low PH at roots issues so going to put a higher PH moving forward
10/5 - 5 gallons with 5ml calmag/gallon at 6.6ph, run off was around 5.3
10/7 - 5 gallons, watered with 6.8-6.9 ph water, tested the runoff was 5.4
So far so good however, having a couple issues. Deficiency from possibly low PH and having to lower the lights because of heat. Can’t believe it’s so hot in October. Looking forward to buds stacking and get more smelly!
Week of 10/9-10/15
Wow what a week. Not gonna lie this was the most difficult week of this grow. The deficiencies I spotted last week got worse. Buds are still stacking and stinky. But several leaves showed deficiencies all week and it was tough to watch after such a great start.
10/10 - watered with 5ml cal mag, 2ml tiger bloom, 10ml big bloom, I forget the PH here
10/12 - 5 gallons with 1/2 tsp recharge per gallon, at 6.9PH, runoff was around 5.6, some leaves are showing serious deficiency now. Considering bottom feeding high PH. Got a serious ac unit. Seems to help but does heat up surrounding area.
10/13 - next day, bottom water 1/8 gallon of non ph’d water. Noticing deficiencies getting worse, I think there’s lockout or just low soil PH
10/14 - watered 5 gallons with 5ml gal of calmag, and 10ml gal of tiger bloom, at 6.5 ph, runoff was 5.7-5.8 getting better
So the new AC is helping a bit, can’t believe it’s been so hot in mid October. Weather says this is the last week of it. Deficiency is getting worse. I am thinking I should have flushed the moment I spotted it and that my other watering were too low PH around 6.1-6.3. Should’ve been higher around 6.5-7.0 since the soil takes it down a bit. Tent is definitely full!
Week of 10/16-10/22
Another week of flower gone by. I’ve fixed the heat issues with the new AC unit. Cost a pretty penny but worth it. It has built in dehu and heat so will be useful. Buds are stacking, deficiencies got worse this week. Had to clip a bunch of rusted leaves and thinking it’s impacting yield. Still thinking the issue was too low PH and/or not enough nutes.
10/16 watered about 4 gallons with 6.8ph with 5ml gal calmag, mostly bottom fed
10/17 two branches on the front Blue Gelato toppled over. This plant is having branch problems into flowering. I thought it was weak light but now it may be weight. having to string up additional branches.
10/18 watered 4.5 gallons, 5ml gal calmag, 10 ml tiger bloom at 6.4ph
10/20 watered 4.5 gallons at 6.9 ph, runoff was around 5.7-5.8, tried flushing with 7.4 water and still coming low
10/22 5 gallons with 4ml gal calmag, 10 ml gal of tiger bloom, 10ml sticky sweet
Still working on raising PH and feeding. Having some humidity issues but mostly keep between 45-55RH. Buds are STINKY even with constant carbon filter. Hoping the deficiencies are fixed moving forward, final 3-4 weeks!
Week of 10/23-10/29
Week 7 of flower is in the books. Seems like plants are recovering and doing better. Buds are stacking and getting heavier. Heat and humidity is under control. The smells are strong. Stinks up the grow room having the tent open for just a little. Difficult to differentiate smells but getting berries, skunk, and floral. So excited for the next two weeks.
10/25 4.5 gallons with 5ml calmag, 15 ml tiger bloom and 1/2 tsp recharge 6.6ph, runoff around 5.8-5.9
10/28 4.5-5 gallons with 4ml cal mag, 10ml tiger bloom and 10ml sticky sweet per gal, at 6.4ph, had to string up the other BG41
10/29 decided to use a trellis net and cut the strings, seems to help a lot with the BG41s who are falling over, buds are getting heavier and frostier
Both plants breeders say about 63-70 days which means it could be two weeks, or three weeks for harvest. I’m thinking of flushing from now on, maybe one last feeding. Smells look great, glad the heat and humid issues are taken care of. PH issues seem to subside but hate to see that mid to late flower. Buds look great though. Onto the final two weeks!
Week of 10/30-11/5
Another great week of flower. All girls are STACKING and buds are getting thick. The stank is strong. No real issues at this point, still some low PH runoff but not worried at this point as they’re nearing the end.
10/30 watered 6.6 PH, run off around 5.7
10/31 happy Halloween!
11/1 watered with 5ml cal mag, 12 ml tiger bloom, 10ml sticky sweet, forgot to PH, so gave half of 5.6ph water with 6.6ph water. So annoying. Completely forgot to PH. Wonder if that happened earlier in grow.
11/3 still wet soil, noticed possible naner on back Blue Gelato, plucked and didn’t see any others
11/4 watered with 6.7 ph water
Overall a decent week, made a mistake with the watering that one day but quickly corrected so not worried. Probably just water from here on out. Microscope showing mostly cloudy trichomes. Onto the possibly last week of flower!
Week of 11/6-11/12
Another great week of flowering. Temps and humidity under control, just watering these girlies. Close up trichs are all cloudy and 25% amber so I am thinking harvest in the next day or two.
11/7 watered with 6.5 ph water, trichomes are about 90% cloudy, no amber yet
11/10, watering about every three days, watered 4.5 gallons at 6.5 ph, noticed some possible naners on the other blue gelato, both have now shown at least one set of bright line green long naners that I’ve picked off
11/11 all girls look ready, all cloudy and amber is spreading
11/12, watered only a half gallon at 6.4ph
I messed up the air flow and humidity and encountered a lot of bud rot. Was only able to save about 3-4 ounces. Buds are fruity.
Lesson learned from this grow. Increase airflow on buds during flower. Need alot of air flow and use oscillating fans.
Same with the straw-bananas, I encountered a lot of bud rot as a result of my failure to have any air flow on the Budd. Didn’t realize at the time. Was only able to use about 3 ounces. Lesson learned on this one. I am not discouraged but I need new fans.
Good luck with your grow I hope you get the best taste of buds and healthy plants! Take care and stay lit! I will drop by sometimes to check on your process! Say hello if you ever visit my page!
