Germination
7 of 7 seeds germinated using different methods for each including paper towel and directly in soil. I used Fox Farms soil, Happy Frog and Ocean Forest mix for 2 of the seeds and just happy frog for the rest. Light was set @ 30% dim @ 19" height (which later realized that was a bit too close). Temps- H78 L70 RH- 65-70 No nutrients Spray reverse osmosis water when top of soil becomes dry. (Twice a day)

All 7 seeds have made it to second week. 1 plant has some light spotting on first and second set of leaves. Continuing to feed reverse osmosis water with silica and recharge (small amounts). Silica helps the water's buffering capabilities so I am able to bring ph to 6.5-6.7 with very small amounts of ph down. Most run/off is coming in at low 6's with water going in at high 6's.

Most important to note from this week: Even a small dose of cal mag to plants 3 and 6 slightly stunted growth. There seems to be a lot of nutrients in this soil which might be why the added cal mag slowed growth and showed very dark leaves (too much nitrogen from the cal mag). I am using RO water so thought that cal mag would help but didn't. PH in correct range along with recharge and silica really calls for no nuts in this soil! Transplanted to 1 gallon pot with Ocean Forest soil on days 16 and 17. Still only using recharge and silica w/ no extra nutrients. I did add 2ml of cal mag to the plant with light spotting which seemed to help slightly by day 20. All ph ranges are right at about 6.5. I found that watering at 6.7 with a low ppm water brings me to a good ph range for this soil. No signs of deficiency so no extra nutrients for now. Average relative humidity slightly lowered to 60%. I'm paying attention to light distance and power closely to keep ppfm in 300-400 range. 2 plants did not make it. I believe due to overwatering. 5 white widows left I performed LST on Day 21. Plants are short and bushy so I felt no need to top. LST combined with scrog is the plan.

Is it normal for white widow to grow short and bushy and would LST combined with SCROG be a good solution for training the plant?

Youre doing fine! let that baby go for at least 16 weeks, I would let that baby roll 17. you will see that bigg growth week 15-17. i was messing around with fox farm for a while untill I watched an episode of the future cannabis project. They basically described the problems facing all plant growth nowadays. https://youtu.be/i8WRgBPgCjo it was illuminating. "The science of living soil systems."

Short and bushy can be genetics or environment—- hard to say—- with those plants that don’t go as planned—- I just let them be themself! No training

I do LST to some extent on everything grown indoors. I like it better than sea of green and using a net. I use fabric pots and melt holes around the top of the pot as tie down locations. With LST tied to the pot I can take the plant out of the tent or turn it around for better access. Using a net is convenient but I don't like how it blocks access.

Day 22 for 3 plants and day 23 for 2 others. This is the second day since LST was performed. Since these are short and bushy, fan leaves are covering new bud sites so I do my best to move them out of the way. Lowering light slowly to see how much they can handle. Currently at 23" above canopy and @ 75% power and have yet to see any stress from the light. I have yet to add cal mag or any other nutrients other than silica and recharge and although I have read that cal mag will be needed soon, I'll wait for any signs of deficiency first. Fast forward a few days to day 25...the light was too much. The plants are not growing vertically (short and bushy) and showing a slight stress. I'll add a photo. I backed off to 60 percent dim at 24 inches for now. I also think this is causing some calcium deficiency (photo). I took off the LST. I dont think it was a good idea because they are so short. I will keep this part of the grow updated just in case anybody scrolls past and has the same issue and can learn from my mistake 😉. Topped.

Raised room temp from 78 to 83. IR thermometer registers leaf surface temp 3 degrees lower than ambient room temp. Raised humidity from 60 to 65. Raised power of light so average ppfd across canopy is at 550 instead of 350. Transplant and scrog on the list of things to do in the next week.

Added strawberry fields soil to bottom 3rd of new transplanted pot hoping that will help during flowering. Plants are short and bushy. Backed off light slightly to 25 inches at 68 % power. PPFD low 400's across canopy. Still pretty unsure on light distance and intensity.

At 35 days after sprout, all white widows are 7 to 8 inches in height. Should they be a bit taller for their age?

I think they look great. Much better looking then how my current Zkittlez looked when she was that age. They look happy and healthy. Just give them some time and they will reward you at the end 🌱

Wondering if I should up the nuts? Tried lowering the light to 13 inches and got some light burn. 15 to 16 inches seems to be the sweet spot. Feeding in Ph @ 6.8.
