The eldest has left home, there’s an empty room….we had a few weeks of who was going to have the room and the use it was for, we both had strong arguments and it all came down to a coin toss……..
LETS MAKE SOME LITTLE GREEN BABIES!!!
Being an absolute beginner at growing during these weeks I’ve done research, read up on criteria, the ins and outs, I don’t claim to know absolutely enough, but enough to start germination last night (Aug 3) and hope that by the end of this little experience/experiment, that I would of gained a lot that helps toward a adventure where I know what my cannabis strains are and not just “weed” as my research and endless hours of reading should help my knowledge of growing and just a better understanding of cannabis in general. Getting the actual benefits of growing your own cannabis is just a bonus in itself, no more just stuffing the buds in a pipe or in a joint but also the extras of being able to do more with the plant itself, growing the different strains, the strains flowering differently, giving off different colours/smells, that’s something I’m looking forward to, you know what I mean…my wife says I waffle too much, I think she forgets at times that we do prefer sativa during the days😂…Anyway……
Tent:
doesn’t matter it’s sh*t…I fcuked up and will be replacing on the next grow 😏🙈😂
Light: Viparspectra V600
seemed like a reasonable choice, guess we’ll find out, the best thing is I can daisy chain if I like the light and decide to invest more in the future.
Soil: 70% Biobizz light mix
30% Perlite
Nutrients: Biobizz
I was torn between between the canna and Biobizz products if I’m honest, so I just went with a basic indoor pack from Biobizz, I feel I may need to add more from their product range but I’m not bothered about that.
So here we go, feel free to comment, give tips, help if you see anything that I don’t, as I will be updating regularly…thanks 🙂🤘🏴
3rd Aug Started germination in damp paper towels checked every 12 hours moistened if necessary, ran 48 hour tent setup, ran into high humidity issues during 6hr darkness, alarm was driving me crazy 🤯, finally solved by opening extra vent and no light leaks…looking good 👍
5th Aug tap roots around 3/4 cm after 48 hours, hope this is long enough, soil is moist, seeds went in, lightly covered, sprayed with a mister, on with some cut up plastic bottle tops for extra humidity around the grow area and fingers crossed 🤞
8th Aug woke up this morning with signs of life, both these ladies had broken surface sometime over the past 24 hours, both with cotyledons and just about spouting their first leafs, I guess germination is over so that ends this chapter! 😊🤘🏴
These LED lights come with veg and bloom switches, obviously I’ll be using veg for veg stage, but is it worth using bloom only during flower or using full spectrum with both switches on?
Struggled with high temps 30.9 (which I read isn’t ideal) for the first 4 days because I switched my lights to full spec, that got corrected after switching back to veg only. I don’t have any intake or extraction set up yet, as that was planned for week 3 when I was originally going to flip to full spec, so I couldn’t deal with the temperature issue without doing a tent overhaul, I couldn’t see any heat stress on the plants but I wasn’t prepared to take a chance to run full spec when the room is not the best for being naturally ventilated. The plants haven’t cared about the light switch and seem to be thriving for being 6 days old (I’m early this week and the wife will be left to tend the plants for the next 2 days 🙈).
Plants were fed bottled water only with a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon
Photos are in order with each plant
A good week 🤘😊🏴
Lights just went out at the end of week 2 and it’s been a really progressive week I guess, I noticed during this growth week that plant 2 has noticeable deficiencies on some leaves which I can only put down to heat/light burn…I’m assuming this happened last week when I tried running my lights on full spec and the temps got crazy in the tent, installation of the fan isn’t due until next weekend and I’m looking forward to having it finally installed in my shit tent for now 😂🙈
Plants have had their first full week of nutritional water feeds, going on the recommendations by fastbuds by using a quarter of the nutrient feeding guidelines supplied by in my case Biobizz, plants have lapped it up and loved it, minus the heat/light burn on some leaves there are no other deficiencies of any kind, and these girls are of a lushish Welsh green and have bushed out instead of stretched, I love how you can see the fat sativa leaves on both these plants compared to the long skinny leaves on the Indica plant I have growing along side them 😍
Plants have been given 250ml nutrient feed every other day around the root (the above measurements were used in every feed not as weekly total), with 125ml ph water in between.
For me as a first time grower I can record this as a good week 🤘🙂🏴
What did I learn this week…
1: Don’t excessively spray water on plants when tent is around 27/28c
2: I need to humidify my tent a little better
3: How to LST a main stem and leaf tuck
Yeah kinda busy/learning experience at the moment, the plants are healthy from what I can see, I do have some light burn from overspray but that’s my own doing and a mistake I’ve learned from. 1 girl is bushing out, 1 girl is slow but when she has her little spouts you can see the heart she has, they’ve both had the same regiment and both had some LST on the main-stem on day 18, everyday since has been leaf tucking, undecided as yet wether to scrog or grow these ladies out.
Plants have been given 250ml nutrient feed every other day around the root (the above measurements were used in every feed not as weekly total), with 180ml ph water in between.
Minus my mistake the plants are healthy, have no deficiencies and I can record another good week 🤘🙂🏴
Ok another week done, and some issues I’ve had to deal with, with plant 2, I’m assuming they’re stunting issues with the weird growth on the flower sites and the lack of growing on stems, this I only noticed at the start of the week when I did a bit of defoliation on light blocking fan leaves, so I just decided to leave this plant this week and let her do her thing, on a positive she decided yesterday to show signs of life so she’s on the right track and I’m glad I left her so her thing. Plant 1 on the other hand is loving life, the growth after her defoliation was amazing and for someone who only knows what they’re doing by reading and looking at videos and photos I’m really happy with the way she’s going and I have nothing else to say on her.
It’s been a 50/50 week 1 plant is going strong 1 is I guess stunted or just slow 😔
Plants have been given 500ml nutrient feed every other day around the root (the above measurements were used in every feed not as weekly total), with 500ml ph water in between.
Another week passed 🤘🙂🏴
Plant 1 is growing strong and bushy and looks to have entered into pre-flower stage.
Plant 2 is just doing whatever she likes and still has the weird growth sites 🤷♂️
Plants have been given nutrient feed every other day around the root dependant on the plant and the stage it is in!!! (the above measurements were used in every feed not as weekly total, again dependant on the plant itself and the stage it is in), with ph water in between.
There are no deficiencies that I can see 😊
Another week passed 🤘🙂🏴
Plant 1 is growing strong and is in flower mode, I have no complaints with this girl, just some light defoliation here and there is all that’s needed with this beaut. The feed regime seems to be going well so I’ll be sticking with what I have written down for the rest of this cycle. She’s a lovely girl aye and starting to smell
Plant 2…🤔 this girl has had the same treatment up to last week as plant 1, this plant is still in veg and has freaky (cluster bomb looking) flower sites..these can be seen in the last 5 photos of this week….I have no idea what this is so will be shortly looking for advice. Again this week I’ve just let this girl try to do her thing, I’ve only fed her and haven’t messed with her in any way.

Another week passed 🤘🙂🏴
Plant 1 is growing strong and is in flower mode, I have no complaints with this girl, the stigmas on her flower sites are lovely and clear hope to see them grow/stretch out over the coming week, the increasing production of trichomes and terpenes…I love that haze smell she’s only been fed this week.
Plant 2 (AKA “The Weirdo”)…Again this week I’ve just let this plant try to do its thing, it did enter pre flower and is still throwing clusterbomb flower sites, I’ve only fed it and haven’t messed with it in any way up to this morning when I did do some light defoliation on the lower branches.

Added a Viparspectra xs1500 into the tent this week which sent the temps rocketing so finally had to break out my decent fan as I’ve been managing with a exhaust fan that only runs 80cfm at the best but it’s been doing the job. Also had to invest in a oscillation fan as mine packed up, so went with one of those secret jardin ones that mount on the frame poles…that was a sweet investment.
Plants loved all this and well fattened out under the new light, can tell we’re starting to close in on the final few weeks as the leaves are starting to go autumnal. Plant 1 should be in full ripening stage next week with Plant 2 looking like she’s lagging a week behind, which is how they went into pre-flower.

Another week passed 🤘🙂🏴
Both plants are packing weight on, both are healthy, both are in a new home 🙂
Plant 1 has had some light defoliation that’s about it nothing else needs to be said
Plant 2 the Weirdo she’s a little surprising and getting her fat flowers on show and proud of it, those weird cluster bomb pre flowers that weren’t opening…I’m so glad we have photos to look back on cause she’s just packing the weight on
Plants have been fed 1000ml nutrient water every other day around roots with 1000ml ph water between.
Fantastic week for these 2 girls 🤘😊🏴
10 weeks down, lights went out…plants seem to be in exactly the same phase as stigma growth is pretty much on par with one another. Will start flushing from the next feed and being a sativa try and keep an eye on those trichomes.
This week went as expected, plants started to hit run-off on watering so this tells me it’s the right time to start flushing as flowers are pretty much packed out for the height they are, the colours and smells coming off plant 2 are just amazing and what I would of wanted after her slow start. Other then this it was another good week 😊🤘🏴
Just flushing this week, so 1100ml ph’d water every day except on Thursday when they had a dry day and a few leaves cut due to RH peaking above 55% which isn’t ideal as I keep reading that I should be looking for around 40%, I don’t mind hitting mid/high 40s but that was a bit too high. RH returned to around 45-48 so was happy with this…
Plant 1 is really leafy big and bulbous and she sweats a lot, she smells beautiful and has stayed green, her trichomes are around 60/40 cloudy to clear, so just keeping an eye on those I think maybe another full week on this girl
Plant 2 is really on her own, she’s grown up so much, really proud of how she’s turning out after how she was weirdly starting to flower in cluster-bombshell that weren’t really opening, her colours are really nice, she’s proper autumnal, her flowers are really dense and packed full of trichomes that are around 70/30 cloudy to clear and she smells even better then plant 1 that had no issues.
The ViparSpectra XS1500 combined with the Spider-Farmer intelligent fan and 60x60x140 tent is working in perfect harmony and love how I finally have things dialled in on the space that I need for upcoming ventures.
Another good week by here 🌱🤘😊🏴
I am an absolute beginner at growing, I did nothing but read and read before I set off on this journey, I wanted to grow my favourite strain, I knew it was going to be risky, there was a probability of fuck ups, everything was brand new to me, but at the end of the day this was my experience and regardless of how things turned out I would of been happy with any successful harvest so my goal was to 1) take any learning experiences away from this no matter how little and if they work then apply next time 2) try to make 1 ounce per plant of smokeable cannabis 3) learn from my mistakes with hindsight because I can look back and see what I could of done differently (with hindsight) but not at the time as I may think I could be doing things right. I took a chance on planting both these seeds but you only live once.
Germination went in damp paper towel in my closet for 3half days I think…got lightly sprayed every 12 hours
Veg
Tent 3x3
Light ViparSpectra V600
Plant 1 veg 5 weeks I believe and 6 weeks on plant 2, both had LST on week 3 (mistake made here) I pulled both these girls too far down, looking back I also made rookie mistakes on over defoliation during this period. My feeding schedule was absolutely bang on, not once did I experience nutrient burn during this period.
Flower
Tent Spider-Farmer 2x2x5
Light ViparSpectra XS1500
So when I moved these girls into this setup they really came into their own and took on their own personalities, I stopped defoliating so much and was only taking off lower leaves and unwanted flowering sites, in hindsight maybe this was a mistake also but seeing as my next rotation will not be until the new year and I’ll have more time to reflect and see how other people grow, now that I have this site as a great source of knowledge. Flowering went well I stuck to the feeding schedule I pre made, I did start to notice some nutrient burn on the fan leaf tips around week 10 but I wasn’t too worried at that stage. So I noticed quite early on in flower that both these plants were going to be different I think looking back I may have stressed out plant 2 a little too much and this showed as she started to throw out clustered looking flower sites that weren’t opening right compared to plant 1 which you can see around weeks 4-8, but when they did go into full flower mode, fuck did they go like the wind and the last few weeks went like a breeze.
Plant 1 stayed of a short medium height, fat and green all the way through with a 10 day flush, her flowers are really long, dense and leafy, the raw smell she was putting out was kinda floral/citrus.
Plant 2 stayed short to medium height, she went autumnal and put out some real nice colours on her flowers, she had a 10 day flush, her flowers are dense and compact, she put out the same floral/citrus smell.
I’ve been off work for quite a while due to health issues and have recently gone back, having the Spider-Farmer intelligent fan really helped keep everything in spec when I haven’t been able to…so that’s quite a tidy bit of kit, I’m super impressed with this and so glad I have this going forward. 2 Amnesia Haze plants that look totally different and smell lovely just the same. What I did do different on this harvest to my other was I did put these in the dark for 48hrs before harvest as I read this was good for them 🤷♂️
Harvest day 27 Oct 21
Plant 1 wet 9.04oz
Harvested based on trichomes that were around 80/15/5 cloudy/clear/red
Plant 2 wet 8.36oz
Harvested based on trichomes that were around 80/10/10 cloudy/clear/red
To be continued
