First week: germination went faster than expected, so didn't have grow lights ready in time. All a bit unsure about watering schedule and nutes, so keeping watering very low and localized around the stem.
Could use comments and advice 😎
- Growth is coming along, but slowly.
- Still problems with old leaves, hoping the new ones will come in better (is it nutrient problems?)
- Preparing a little DIY carbon filter
- Humidity "problems". might be from building the box out of wood, which absorbs some moisture.
So this week have been a roller coaster.
Early in the week I accidentally knocked over the pot, and the entire plant fell out and got covered in dirt.
Managed to brush her off and replant, but she collapsed very quickly and I thought I was screwed.
But around 1-2 hours after, she had recovered fully. 😅
Spotted what could be early signs of Nitrogen deficiency 😕
Haven't been a lot of growth this week. I'm afraid the little incident, and the very low soil pH, have my growth stunted a lot.
So decided to make a new pot, with the same strain, and fix the pH before planting (with CalMag).
So I'm adding a 2. diary for that in a bit, and will be able to follow the influence (somewhat) this has.
So it seems like she pulled through. she's not the biggest, but she's mine :)
The first set of leaves still looks a little yellow, but the new growth looks great!
Bought some new lights, Roleadro 300W LED (dimmable), just waiting for the delivery! :D
- Added a bowl of water near the intake fan, helped raise the average humidity to 37%
- Reworked my DIY active carbon filter, changed the 12V pc fan for a bathroom humidity ventilator. Hope this helps on smells 😅
- New lights are raising temperature a bit, maybe too much. Hoping new ventilator helps a bit (can also keep window opened more now, it's getting warmer!) 😎
- Buds are growing, but seeing some new growth in the bottom of the main stem. Not sure if it should be pruned, any advice here?
- Added my old CFL for some ekstra light on the lower buds :)
Oh, and did some research on the strain, to troubleshoot, and found out it was rated "Veteran (Medium/Advanced)".
Great choice for first grow 😅
Noticed a hell of a lot of drooping this morning, and during the day on the cam.
So hurried home and found the pot really, really light. She's getting hungry!
Mixed a quick batch of nutes and gave her 500ml, wish i could get more to stick in the soil but the pot is way too small, still wondering if a transplant might be so bad?
Anyway, also added a fan today, circulation fan, and within 30 minutes she was reaching for the light.
More than ever before really, so had to move the light up and have realized that my grow room is way to short.
If I get a decent growing plant in there it will be with 20cm of my LED's before veg is over.
So guess im going tent shopping (maybe gorilla 2 x 2.5?). Anyway, she's budding up nicely, hope to see maybe 5-10g?
Help! 😓
She looked so good just a day ago, what's going on?
- Update: Did some extensive googling, and think it might be a Nitrogen Tox problem. Checked the NPK of my nutes, and Biobizz grow seems like it could be the sinner here. With the ratios I have been feeding my NPK would have been around 28-26-18.
So next watering will be with pure H20 and a lot more run off than normally, will see if I can avoid a full flush.
Not sure if there's a lack of calmag as well though :/
Been waiting for my Cal-Mag to arrive all weekend, finally got it today monday. So will do the first feed with it today.
The leaves symptoms are still getting more visible, also the leaf stems are quite red. But not sure if this is a strain thing?
Buds are there, but filling slowly and no real trichomes visible yet.
But still early in flowering :)
No idea how much this will net dry, but thinking 1-3g maybe?
Again not sure if I should continue with Biobizz Grow nutes, as their schedule has it added all the way until flush.
But maybe this is a N sensitive strain, and I shouldn't.
Anyway, germinating my next grow.
Make sure to give it a follow and comments :)
She's getting closer! 😎
According the the breeder it should be around 10 weeks from seed to harvest.
So got at least one more week before changing to pure water.
Considering it's my first grow, and it's in (roughly) a 2liter pot, I think she came out alright.
Oh, and I'm going for a more euphoric high with this. So should I flush early?
So..so close, she's starting to swell up nice and the trichomes are getting a lot more cloudy.
Don't have a microscope, but can zoom enough on the original pictures to see them individually and the ones on the leaves haven't turned amber at all yet.
So I'm guessing the 10 week estimate from Vision is going to fit perfectly.
Just gave a feed today, and she's dry pretty steadily every other day.
So thinking 1-2 more feeds and then switch to water only, since I'm looking for an active high and don't want to much CBN in there. 😎
Have any of you other growers experienced allergy symptoms with just female plants?
Can't say it with certainty, but just had her out for a photo shoot and could feel my nose starting to itch 😞
Getting very, very close now!
Been checking her daily, with a cheap little 5€ magnifying glass.
Started a flush a bit soon so added a few nutes to this watering, but might just let her dry out now and then check if she's done.
Im looking for
Will update on the smoke later, she's still mellowing out in some brown paper bags for now 😎
But damnit if she doesn't smell good!
The strain is a short one, so great for smaller grow rooms. But she does have a little bit of a smell to her during flowering, so growing stealth would require a carbon filter. 😉
It's hard to talk about the grow, since it was my first and I made some early beginner mistakes.
But getting 100g, wet, from a first grow is pretty decent I'd say. 😏
Ps: will update this after drying and curing, so I can give a smoke report, and update weight to dry.
First grow, had my worries and lots of fun with it. Second plant already growing well (different strain). Started her out on a low 85watt CFL bulb and upgraded to a 200w LED Roleadro light. Got a lot of good feedback, which helped me out of some trouble with CalMag and nutrient lockout issue (which might have stunted her early on).
Thanks for the help GD 😎
Oh, got a bit of trims and very small buds leftover.
Put them in the freezer for now, might make some cannabutter when my next grow is harvested 😁0
The problem you have is the size of the pots, a good flush once every 2-3 weeks is also a good thing , some of the leaves will naturally fade and go yellow as the plant pulls more nutrients from the soil , what is the ph ? 6 might be a little low 6.5 is perfect 👍
@BigDaddyK, I did the mistake of not checking my soils pH before starting. So was only when I had problems that I noticed the run off was below 5, even with 8 pH water. But a big dose of Dolomite seemed to work :) They do, but for some reason their nute schedule have the Grow added all the way through the flowering as well, see the picture for week 6. But I'll try removing it from the feeds, and do the next with a shot of Cal-Mag. Can't wait until I get there and get some gorgeous ones growing, but so far I'm liking the challenge as well 😎
@aRecreationalist, I would never go low in soil , I think to myself what would nature do ? I use canna nutrients so there are separate bottles for veg and flower, I'd imagine biobizz do a grow and a bloom - it's very easy once you get the environment correct 👍
@BigDaddyK, I only have the drop tester, but it shows as the deepest blue color when testing straight from the source. I used a fair bit of pH down on this grow, but have switched over to no regulation on my new grow (since biobizz doesn't do well with it). And thank you :)
Hi, i see that you want to top your plant, i wouldn't suggest doing that though since autoflowers only grow for 6 weeks which means they don't have a lot of time to recover from it
I have had this a few times - deformed and or discoloured leaves , I thought it was either a root issue or feeding nutrients too early - but it is possible to just carry on , I would wait until there Are more nodes before I topped 👍🌱
@BigDaddyK, just bumping message to see if you can give a little diagnostic tip. She looked fine just a day ago, and now it looks like I might have some def 😓
@Eurus,Thanks man, was very surprised she had this much in her with all my screwing around. Just checked your diary out as well, and it's some good, and frosty, looking bud you got growing mate. Looking forward to see your harvest shots 😎
I'm no expert, but I would have to say that it's a pH issue. Flush and water with pH water at 6.3-6.7 is what I would do. I wouldn't top it until problem is fixed. Don't want to cause the baby anymore stress. Best of luck bro!
@DesertBoy760, Using Biobizz Speedgrow LightMix with perlite mixed in. I'm heading out tomorrow to buy a new pot, current doesn't have bottom drains. But will attempt to fix without a flush, and just water with a high end ph solution (7) and test drain ph. If it isn't leveled out after 2 waterings I'll flush. Hopefully this will stress her a little less.
Not sure if I should add a low nute mix (1mL/L) though, any opinions? :)
@aRecreationalist, If i'm not mistaken, The reason you put in water phed at 8 and run off is coming out at 5 is because your soil might be trying to buffer itself to its desired level. What soil are you using?
That was happening to me too. So i went out and bought a ph digital meter and ph down "my tap water comes out at 7". As soon as i got home 'late at night' i flushed the fuck out of it WITH WATER AT A PH LEVEL OF 6.3. Let it drain then feed it with its necessary nutrients, checked run off and was at 6.4. That worked for me,
And remember to check you ph AFTER you add nutrients. Never BEFORE!!!!!
@aRecreationalist, aah damn that sounds sweet and sour man, at least you got a little taste man.
I can't wait to see the buds poke out their hairy heads and let me smell the terp.
@Indianbud, had a little sneak smoke and she is very potent (my tolerance is also low, haven't smoked in a long time). Sadly I got called out on a work trip and had to leave the buds in the paperbag for a little too long. Hoping a Boveda pack can help re-hydrate it for the curing (now around 50%, aiming for 60-65%)
How come ? I thought the light spectrum of CFL bulbs was better.
The reason I ask is because I'm trying to grow for the first time and I'm using a 15w 6500k CFL bulb I'm so confused man. I don't whether to go LED of CFL. I guess it's just first time jitters but what would you recommend from experience anyway ?
@Indianbud, oh man. I don't have much experience. But what are you expecting to be able to harvest, will it be a fully indoor grow or just supplemental light for nights, and what is your budget? 😌
Well, I've been doing a lot of my own research and seeing a lot of DIYs to get the lighting and watering in place. Thing is, I'm a doctor in internship stage in India and I try to keep the medicine as natural as I can, which is another reason why I'm trying grow my own and hopefully it'll be my topic of research in future years. That being said, it's still frowned upon in India and I'm trying to change that thought in my own way. My monthly budget is of about 2K and that's also stretching it really thin.
I provide sunlight whenever possible and keep the CFL light as a supplement for night.
Also, I've realized that what I have is a sativa strains and since they're not hybrids or indicas, I'm going to have a longer flowering period so I'd say that I'm looking to harvest around September or October.
I tried to get feminised seeds from one of the seed companies as well as sensei pH perfect supplements cause the water quality sucks too and the right grow lights but it's all out of budget man.
That's the reason I haven't started a diary cause I can't even fill.up half the boxes that they have here. This is like an all personal grow but I love marijuana so fucking much, it changed my life for the positive man. So I really really want to do this, purely for the love of weed and I'm hoping this grow will allow me to gather some money and help me set up my next grow, which will hopefully be with hybrid or feminised seeds and with the right supplements.
I thought of starting crowd funding, but turns out that most people would rather smoke it in secret than be associated with it in any way, so I'm all on my own bruv :p.
Also this is my 4th try with seeds I picked out of previous scores, so I'm hoping this finally works out.
@Indianbud, I'd say keep growing as best you can now then. Slowly research and plan your next purchase, figure out what you need first and what will help you most. Without a stable strong light source, like HID or LED, you won't need that much nutrients at first. Aim for some excellent soil, smart pots or air pots. Not sure about the water in India, maybe there's something to find via google, but you might have to use something else than tap water. There's a lot of reading material on both CFL and LED, and would definitely recommend reading up (especially on LED since there's a lot of difference on the spectrum and wattage). But you should start a diary, will be easier to get some guidance on the grows and will help you improve 😎
Also there's a lot of good auto strains, with shorter seed < weed periods and less strict light requirements. Worth trying out if you can get a hand on some seeds 😊
Thanks a lot for the advice bruv. I keep updating myself and reading as much as I can about the light sources and nutrients and keep following the diaries. These really are a great help so I'm definitely going to start my own.
I think I get some really helpful tips from this entire forum, plus I'm kind of excited to share my set up of my own grow room with only the equipment I have. It's a little intimidating to have so many growers cultivating marijuana at such a professional level but I think what I have I kind of eccentric and if it works, I would definitely want to share this with others and even inspire them to grow just to have the pure of joy of being self dependant.
Also, I just found out that my friends got some sick seeds from Amsterdam and I'm going to get my hands on those ASAP. Apparently they're great white shark and chem dawg so I can't wait man. Those strains are perfect for an indoor grow.
