Pics are from day #7, not sure what is going on with the plant on the left; it has been leaning slightly for the past 36 hours. From looking at it, it doesn’t really appear to be dampening so idk.
One of my plants is a bit smaller than the other, I think it was due to the light being too close and the foil I originally had right below the leaves (it burnt the tips of two of the leaves) and the fact that it was placed in the net pot a few days after the first one. Right after I raised the light to 28 inches and added their first feed of nutrients, both plants began growing much faster than the previous week.
The stunted plant took off this week, and is actually looking a lot more healthy and vibrant than the other plant due to the other one having buildups on the roots that led to a cal/mag/nitrogen deficiency and had to be rinsed off. It stunted the growth and affected the leaves badly, but I think I fixed the issue because the new root growth looks good, and the symptoms haven’t continued much on the new leaf growth. The sick plant was trained before it started showing symptoms, and I removed the wires as soon as I noticed it was sick. The healthier looking plant was lightly trained and seems to be taking to it very well. I’m not trying to do extensive training with these, but just enough to open up more areas to some light. The silica I started adding this week has been working well also, and the stems went from being quite thin to being thicker than a pencil in less than a week with it added.
Went to Nashville this week and left the plants to do their thing. They grew like 3x larger by the time I was back 4 days later. Defoliated some key areas after these pics were taken. Preflowering and starting to smell nice 🤝
They have nearly doubled in size over the past week, and have me considering purchasing a larger tent because they are pressed up to each wall and each other. I think this is the first true week of flowering for the plant on the left as I am seeing pistils popping up all over it, but the plant on the right seems to be a week behind it, which I expected since it had a difficult time early on. Both seem to be extremely healthy, happy, and are taking in a large amount of water and nutes and need to be topped up on them every couple days as a result. Hoping that they don’t grow vertically much more (I can’t raise my light anymore, and they are separated by ~20in right now) but I’m guessing they will probably be stretching more :/ Definitely time to buy a new tent 🏕️
These things are starting to get out of hand, I can barely access the reservoirs to swap water and nutes so I have just been topping them up as needed. Next grow I am definitely getting a bigger tent, and installing drainage pipes at the bottom of each bucket. They are doing great, just very claustrophobic currently lol.
Trimmed up the bottoms of the plants after the pics were taken, just forgot to take more. Buds are really starting to pop up everywhere. Currently in NY, and my girlfriend is watching the ladies for a week, so I will try to get her to send me some updated pics. These are from ~5 days ago, and there has been substantial bud bulling since then. They are drinking nutes and water like crazy and get topped off on both every single day lol.
Started flushing one of the plants, which is more ripe than the other. Going to do an experiment and see if flushing in a dwc setup is even worth it. One will be flushed and the other won’t. Harvesting both when they are at about 20-25% amber trichomes, so the one being flushed has about 5-7 days left and the other has ~2 weeks before chop day.
Pulled the first plant with all cloudy trichomes, and it smokes like a strong sativa. 2.5 oz of really nice nugs, 2 oz of larf, and 1 oz of trim. Second plant was pulled with about 30% amber trichomes. Still smokes like a sativa, just a bit more mellow than the first plant. I got 3 ounces of nice, really dense multicolored nugs, 2.5 ounces of larf, and 1.5 ounces of trim and shake. So, between both of the plants I came out with 5.5 ounces of buds total, 4.5 ounces of larf, and 2.5 ounces of trim. Smells like funky oranges and smoke tastes like some cake 🔥
