First Grow: 'Orla' Orange Bud (Auto)

Nov 3 (day 64): Start of week 10. Thanks to Amazon next day delivery, I now have a handheld pocket microscope device which was recommended on a few sites. It has a built in LED light and is longer than the jewellers loupe, so at least you don't need to get quite as close! Still suffer from the shaky hand and fan issues as you have to stay super still to get a good position and view of the bud. Saw some trichomes however which are all clear as expected 😃 Lots more amber pistils though which is beginning to make me worry again...😰 Nov 4 (day 65): Something is badly wrong with her sister Wanda. Lots of yellowing patchy leaves that fall off as soon as you touch them and some other green leaves warping into weird shapes! As always, Orla is fairing much better than her sister. I noticed the same with Ophelia and Wendy - Ophelia the other Orange Bud, is so much hardier than her sister Wendy the White Widow. Perhaps its the strain and White Widows are just fussier?! Fed with 2L of water and week 6 of the nute schedule, microbes and Calmag. Stress Level: 10/10 😖 Nov 5 (day 66): I must have jinxed her by saying she hardy 😫 She has yellow edging around a couple of leaves which look typical of nute burn. I've read so many articles that say its REALLY difficult to get nute burn with organic growing, so I don't understand what's going on. She hadn't been fed in 4 days up to yesterday though. Also, I know it can take a few days (and sometimes weeks apparently) to show up issues when growing organically, so I don't think it would be from yesterdays feed. Maybe its a Calmag issue like Wendy had? I did cut the Calmag out for a few weeks on the advice of BioBizz. Confusion Level: 8/10 Nov 6 (day 67): She looks ok again today apart from the few yellow edged leaves. Lets hope she is on the mend! Thirsty AGAIN...I even checked with the moisture probe and she is dry all over the pot. Fed with 2L of water and week 7 of the nute schedule. Nov 7 (day 68): Still looking ok but not perky enough for my liking. She does have a load of new white pistils though, so I am now glad I didn't freak out too much over her amber ones. Nov 8 (day 69): Whoa - who has been pigging out on the nutes!? Where did that cola come from?! It has literally fattened up overnight and is looking very budlike now. Guess she is doing better than I thought. Nov 9 (day 70): End of week 10. I started a 'flush lite' on her sister Ophelia yesterday and I noticed she's looking good today and has a number of leaves praying upwards. Makes me wonder if the 2 litres I've been feeding them wasn't enough and if I should have watered until run off each time. Its really difficult with airpots though as unless you water really slowly, it all comes out of the side holes. So you have to water in the middle of the pot and very slowly. If I feed all 4 plants in the same period, it takes 30-40 minutes. Another aspect is that I have tried different ways of watering before. If I water too quickly or with the watering can shower head, a lot of water comes out of the sides of the pot. This is good in the long run as the plants won't get waterlogged, but all the excess water on the floor of the greenhouse spikes the humidity levels by at least 10%! As I don't want bud rot, I don't want that excess water causing issues. I also tried taking the plants out of the greenhouse and watering them there, so any excess water isn't inside the greenhouse. Issue with that is that its now getting really cold outside. 5 degrees or so in the evenings when I am finished with work. I think I may have caused cold shock to one of the plants (see Wanda's diary), so have knocked that on the head. I bought a huge tray to capture excess water from the flush and this worked well. Ahem - until I couldn't lift the tray full of water out of the greenhouse without spilling it all over myself and the floor that is. Humidity spiked 10% FFS. The joys of greenhouse growing eh 😰 I decided to give it a try and gave her 5L of water tonight rather than a feed and will see how she looks tomorrow. I also decided to give her a little trim, so I cut away a couple of old fan leaves and also a lot of new growth on the stem. I felt it would be best to trim them off and allow all her energy to focus on the existing buds. A stressful week but she is looking good despite it all! NOTE: Nutrient amount is the total amount of nutes given during the week.
