Nothing too exciting so far, germinated the seed in wet paper towels, planted in FFOF with ~25% perlite once the taproot popped out, and she poked through the soil a few days later. She germinated quicker than I expected and the tent wasn’t ready yet so she sat out in a window and got a little leggy looking for more light. Looking forward to this run, we’re gonna get real fruity this round, she’s sharing a tent with a couple of Tastebudz Critical Banana Smoothie autos.
Not much to say so far. She started off a bit leggy but she’s toughened up and straightened herself up. Already a decent amount of growth between days so I think she’s ready to explode soon. I’ll let her get a few more nodes and start with the LST towards the end of next week. So far so good!
She’s really starting to go now, I started tying her down a couple of days ago and adjusted them again today so she’s looking a little rough but even just a couple of hours later she’s starting to rebound. She’s still pretty compact but hopefully within a few days I’ll start to see another top taking over. She’s really doing great so far.
Nothing too exciting this week, we’re moving right along and the training is going well. She has a couple of main tops now that should produce some nice buds hopefully. I hit her with some recharge last Friday and she responded well so I think I’m going to keep using it sporadically throughout the grow. Seeing some signs of deficiencies in the lower leaves, specifically some rust colored spots so I gave her a small dose of some bloom nutrients in case it’s potassium and I’m going to foliar spray with an epsom salt solution in case it’s magnesium. I can’t imagine the FFOF soil is depleted yet so maybe it’s just an imbalance in the root zone. I’ve gotten these spots on every grow I’ve done and haven’t quite figured out the cause, I’ve never done a foliar spray and I’ve never used recharge so maybe one of those will help keep it under control. I’ve also tried to use better watering habits this time around, so I think that’ll help as well. I think the issue in my last grow was feeding too heavy and too frequently so I’m taking it much easier this time.
Pretty good week, she started popping pistils all over the place. She started showing some signs of calcium deficiency so I gave her a light foliar feed with some cal mag and started adding cal mag to all the watering. I also gave some recharge on Monday and a light dose of tiger bloom today.
There were a few blips, I noticed a couple of days ago that the leaf margins were starting to point up again. This happened last round so I’ve been less aggressive with the lights and haven’t been overwatering as bad as I did last grow but I noticed my timer was set to 20-4 instead of 18-6 so I switched them over so we’ll see if that helps. The scrog net will be here in a couple of days so that should be up for next week’s post, which will probably be week 1 of flower.
Pretty good week so far, got the scrog net installed so she’s all trellised and bushing out. She’s stretching and has pistils all over the place so I’m calling this week one of flower. She was showing some signs of calcium deficiency so I did a foliar spray with some calcium and have been watering in cal mag with every watering and the signs don’t seem to be spreading to too many other leaves so I’m hoping that’s starting to get under control. I’m also seeing some red stems so I’m going to up the bloom nutrients next feeding. All in all this grow is going alright.
I included a shot of the whole tent that she’s sharing with a critical banana smoothie auto. Now that it’s starting to cool off outside I’m going to get the attic tent back in action, so get ready for a couple of new diaries in the next few weeks while these plants start flowering.
Not too bad this week, still seeing spots on the leaves and some purpling stems so I’ve upped the cal mag and tiger bloom. I watered with runoff late last week and the EC of the runoff was pretty high so I did another plain water watering in between feedings and I think that kind of exacerbated the deficiencies because she had more spots a couple of days later. I think she’s done stretching and she’s starting to really focus energy on the flowers now. Hoping I can slow the progression in whatever deficiencies she’s going through causing the spots and we can cruise through flower with a normal feeding schedule.
Deficiency city up in this bitch. One of these days I’ll figure out the feeding schedule, I think I kind of overcorrected this round — I overfed and burnt the hell out of the last round, this time I’m pretty sure I went too little too late.
Despite the spots on the leaves she seems to be doing well, she’s still perky and the tops are already plumping up. If I grow this strain again and get the feeding right I think she could be a pretty big yielder. Not that this round is a lost cause by any means, but I think she’s gonna take a bit of a hit. I’ve been upping the nutrients the last couple of feedings, I’m nervous I might’ve gone a bit too heavy on the epsom salt tonight but I’m hoping she takes it well though, I think she needs it.
Rough week for the sweet mango girl, big time progression in the brown spots. I think I misdiagnosed it as phosphorus so I got some beastie bloomz. I watered with beastie bloomz and forgot to pH balance it so it was super acidic, like 5.4 pH. The next night she had gotten significantly worse. Her leaves started yellowing pretty bad and there were more dark spots on the leaves along the veins. I found some calcium deficiency photos that looked exactly like what she has going on and it would make sense that she got worse after watering with such a low pH because that almost certainly locked out calcium from being taken up. I flushed the medium with higher pH water then finished off with a balanced nutrient solution so hopefully that resolves it, but I’m definitely going to be taking a hit in yield and quality. Just hoping she holds on long enough to finish out. I think she probably only has a few more weeks anyway. While she’s still loaded with white pistils the trichomes are already going cloudy. Hoping the beastie bloomz helps the buds bulk up a bit and make them more dense, but only time will tell. Between the two plants in the tent this was the one I was least excited about so I’m hoping catching this one will help keep the other one healthier.
Not a bad week, I think the progression of the deficiencies has slowed. I got the medium pH up a bit and that seems to have helped. The leaves are looking a bit rough but the flowers are still looking okay. I think I’ll be chopping her in about a week and a half or so, the top buds are looking like they’re getting close, just need to give the lower buds a bit more time.
Well, the same issue I’ve dealt with for the last couple of grows is in full swing again here. It seems to have come a bit later this grow which is something I guess. I found some pictures online of calcium deficiency that looked just like this so maybe that’s it. The other plant she’s sharing a tent with is doing great though, kind of the opposite if anything since she has some tip burn. Idk, she’s about ready to harvest though, I expect to have her chopped by this time next week.
I’ve only smoked a little test nug so this could change a bit once they’ve had a proper cure but I like it. It’s definitely fruity smelling, and it’s a tasty sweet smoke. The effects were a bit different than I anticipated, it was super cerebral for the first 15 minutes or so then shifted to a relaxing body high. I was hoping it would make me drowsy or sedated and would make for a good bed time strain but this was more of a relaxing after work smoke.
All in all this wasn’t a bad run. It made it pretty far before showing leaf damage from the deficiency or environment issue that’s plagued my last few runs. I really think it was calcium from a low medium pH but I never really got to confirm that. I think it could’ve been a heavier yielder if I had gotten ahead of the nutrient issues and done a bit more defoliation. The lower buds really suffered from not getting enough light. Depending on how I like the smoke I might give this strain another shot in the future.
Hey! Happy growing my friend! I hope you do well and get some good results! I will come by sometime to see your progress! Keep on growing!

@Zeolite, good luck on your grow! She seems to be a heavier feeder than the critical banana smoothie plant she’s sharing a tent with. I started in FFOF soil and started getting some spots on the leaves around when she started popping pistils (~week 3/4) that I think are indicating a calcium deficiency but I have some purpling stems as well so I upped the cal mag and started adding tiger bloom. Other than that she’s doing great!
