Hello again and welcome to my first ever DWC and first ever photo period run.
Barney's farm blue gelato 41!
So far so good 2/3 seeds popped and I'm underway. I have little knowledge to what I'm doing so I'm hoping I don't drown these. Any dwc info tips, water levels etc would be greatly appreciated. I plant to veg these for 6 weeks then flip IF things go as planned but that may change. I have space restrictions so that's the reason for quick flip.
Stay tuned as these girls grow! 🙏
Very well after another week I was able to get a handle on the pH and water temps. Stay tuned for more info
4 gallons inside of each bucket
pH between 5.5-6.5 an entire 7 day week long. No noticeable loss in water level.
Amazing weeks insane growth. I'm so satisfied with my first ever hydro dwc. Stabilized the water pH, temps and I think this is dialed in. I know anything can happen and mistakes can be made but if I keep up with this grow I have a feeling this will be EPIC! so excited for this strain! Stay tuned. Roots for days!!!!!!
What else is there to say other than...WOW!
I am truly impressed not only with the 3x faster growth rate/root development but also with myself as I am only on my 3rd grow. Introducing hydroponics with alot less research done as I had done prior for soil growing. The plants are pretty healthy and I believe I have the auto pots setup perfectly now as far as solution temp/airflow/ppm/pH.
* My issues have gone away with pH since beginning to use general hydroponics flora series nutrients and aerating my tap water for 1 day. I still see a rise in pH within 24 hours but the pH stabilizes for the remainder of the week at that same pH.
**pH after nutrients yesterday was 7.4 required alot of pH down for 3.4-4 gallons of water. Go it to 5.5- 5.6 in both buckets.
The pH rose to 6.1-6.2 within 24 hours but as previous weeks it should maintain 6.2 all week.
***to resolve I purchased a 6w air pump to run air stones in each water bucket to help aerate the water. Upping the time to 2 days of aeration and bubbling with air pump. This should remove most minerals/deposits/chlorine from the tap water for a fresher start.
****Will be flipping to 12/12 within 1 1/2 weeks due to height restrictions.
*****Currently on 24 hours of light still on day 27 (10/6) and will be cutting to 20 hours this evening.
I'm updating late, I will update twice today to catch up.. things are going better than expected. Moved light schedule to 20 hours from 24.
Stay tuned later today for a 2nd update to catch up on the grow. Thank you!
WOW!!! I left for 9 days. Had helpers stop every 3 days while gone. Unreal how much they grew this week! I'm blown away and IMMEDIATELY flipped the light schedule to 12/12 on October 18th! Praying I can maintain my height restriction but I'm so very impressed with my first DWC. Absolutely amazing roots and grown. Very happy looking plants with very little signs of issues around. Also, very consistent to each other.
*To remind, 1 was topped 3+ times the other was fimmed successfully and maybe topped once but I don't even remember. Been very busy outside of the grow room.
Stay tuned for stretch and I will be updating on schedule from here for my own data log. Time to bust the heater out soon! Thanks for following.
I am speechless these ladies have been doing so well
Flipped to 12/12 on 10-19
Showed sex (females !) 10-27
Today 10-29 (day 50 from seed) Calling Day 1 of flower stage!
**10-29- wow these ladies are still stretching. I raised my exhaust to allow my lights to raise a bit higher as I continue to max out my height! These ladies according to the site are set to stretch for a while yet. It's been over a week since flip and they have grown around 5-6 inches so far.
Lights are set to 70-75% at the moment.
2-SF 1000s doing very well.
10-28 evening I did a 2nd and likely final round of defoliation. There was no light exposure coming through the canopy so opening it up has lit the branches up with plenty of light to kick major ass in flower! Very excited about this DWC grow! Stay tuned!
*Day 57 from seed. The final week of pre flower has ended and the plant is officially on a roll in full flower mode. Still stretching though!!! She is developing nicely and the plant is extremely healthy. The minor issue I had over a week ago with a few leaves bleaching seems to have been corrected with adding additional calmag. pH has been very stable and temps of solution very reasonable. So adding the extra was what stopped the spread of bleaching. I left the bleached leaves and they did not get any worse nor did it spread. So very thankful to my grow community and for google info provided that allowed me to determine a fix.
**Update, lights set to nearly 80% now to assist in slowing the final stretch of these girls. I'm still scared to turn it up as I'm now 8 Inches away from my lights !!! Maxed out. I may move my exhaust to raise my lights. I'm nervous and want a clean finish without burn or issues.
These ladies, if I'm able to harness this setup, are looking to be absolutely phenomenal. Very mature, happy healthy girls ready to stock on massive cola's and be able to support the weight. Very happy.
Praying these ladies stay safe 🙏 thank you and stay tuned!
Today 11/12 is day 64 from seed, day 14 of flower! Another week down. The plants have slowed stretching but STILL are growing. 1 plant is 4 inches form my light and the other is 5-6 inches. I'm maxed out and refuse to remove the carbon filter.(even with it removed I will not gain more than a few Inches) I'm only running around 70watts per.light right now (75-78% power setting on the switch) to keep from hurting the plant. I will not be turning this up anytime soon. I'll just keep an eye.
**Unreal how well these girls have done. Fabulous and a learning experience. I will absolutely be flipping my hydro pots a few weeks earlier in the future to avoid this risk of maxing out my height! Wow is hydroponics amazing. So fast! Still learning daily! It's been a blessing to be involved with. Thank you for following and stay tuned!
HELP! Haha wow idk what's going to happen but I'm out of space. I can't move my filter out and even if I did I'd gain little.
Plant in the right is 3-4 inches away plant on left has a too that is 1 inch away from direct center nearly ! So far, so good though! I'm at 80% light power now.
I notice little to nothing showing light burn. I do have some bleach dots again effecting 2 branches but only 5 total leaves counted all large fan leaves with a few dots. Before I had a similar bleaching but it stopped. I actually think it's not from the lights. I'll be keeping a close eye on everything especially for Hermie's incase the close lighting may cause any. I do have alot of air passing across each plants top layer of the canopy removing heat. 50% power on my inline filter with terrabloom 16inch filter. Plants air gaining stink! Alot of trichome production and hoping for things to stay happy.
Please feel free to add input on this situation. Thank you.
Stay tuned and pray for these girls 🙏
What can I say other than these girls are just being amazing to me. Absolutely no issues at all. These are really stacking on some size and trichomes. The smell is increasing daily. These two seem to develop slightly different. I believe I'll have 2 pheno types in the end. Slight differences in bud development and growth. One drinks faster than the other as well. If I had it guess now which I'd prefer again without a smoke report I would say growth from the one on the left is the best. Very nice compact looking buds frosted like crazy already. The other bigger, bulkier buds but still really producing now and aren't as coated yet. potentially will have two separate harvest days for these two which I hope isn't the case. Things can change over the next several weeks.
After this week I'll begin to slowly lower the ppm. I'm not sure why last week my ppm was so low but I may have only mixed my nutes for 3 gallons instead of 4 gallons of water and I had 4 gallons so I'm thinking that's why last week was so low compared to this weeks and the week prior.
Praying they continue to do great with no heat/light stress issues. They seem to be very happy right now at officially 80% power as I have slightly increased it the other day .
Stay tuned!
I really can't believe my eyes. A truly remarkable, dispensary like grow for 1 of these two. Appears to be the perfect pheno. To bad I have no experience cloning or I would grab this one up! The other is great too. Fatter buds but less trichomes and fox taily but it is fat, high yielding and smells amazing still too.
I may have to harvest the top buds together when the time comes and then allow the lowers to progress some but then again how would I give them dark before harvest? So I guess I'll end up having to chop all together and anything not useful will just be washed or tossed. A few more weeks to go and these girls should be ready. A few more nutrients runs before a full week or more of just straight water to flush these. Stay tuned as I try to hang onto these girls for a great finish if all goes as planned!
Things are really finishing nicely.
1- plant has suffered several broken branches from heavy buds! If fixed several, chopped several and tied the rest to the ceiling of the tent.
1 of two phenos is absolutely breathtaking. The other is fabulous too with a different bud structure. Alot of growth and the buds are super fat. I'm hoping these finish safely. I'm feeling like 2-3 weeks left for either of the two. Still some time left to mature the trichomes. Much less ppm used going into this week. 600 ish for each. Stay tuned for an update these ladies.
Ps light power set to 80% now which is still only around 75 watts. Perfect for each apparently at this close! 🙏
Another really good week. Had no issues.
#1- absolutely amazing pheno, super thick, super sticky, super super stanky wow!!! Picture perfect buds IMO! Alot of milky in he middle half of the branches but still some clear. A few weeks to go on schedule! Thickest buds I have ever felt.
#2-still very fox taily on top the middle and lowers have finished properly with little fox tail. Spindle shaped buds. Still pretty sticky, a sweeter less potent stink but very strong still. Pretty impressed with this as well but not the pheno I would look for. Milky trichomes with some clear still. Couple more weeks to go also on schedule I'm guessing.
*Backed off nutrients for one last hit and next week I will remove nutrients and go water only until they finish if trichomes have matured more by then.
Stay tuned, so close. Praying they finish great!
This has been an eventful but great week.
I finished the last week with a few things that I will note.
Plant on the right, less favored pheno I found a few bananas packed together. They were barely sticking out. Maybe immature? I cut a chunk of bud off and removed them from the room. They smooched together and did not have pollen dust. I can't really rotate the plant so I can only inspect some of it. Hopefully no other area have any. I havent seen any pollen around and I can't find seeds from pieces picked. Praying I'm good. Had more smaller branches pack on mass and fall. Cut a few more and fixed a few more.
*Pheno that's absolutely amazing just keeps blowing my mind. About 2 feed below the lowest bud site I left is some lingering spots where buds have formed. These buds I cannot believe it are Rock hard like the tops and still sticky, stinky and good trichomes.
The top buds have a ton of Amber, the mid to lowers have tons of milky, alil Amber. Very little clear left.
**iv begun to flush on Wednesday night with water only in the pot. Ppm says 160 which is my average for my tap water.
***Light deprivation set. Turned light to 70% power. In two days I swear I notice a difference in resin. Also did plenty of trimming and cutting to encourage resin production.
****The smell is absolutely unreal.bsuper skunky blueberry from the great pheno. Skunky, with a very slight citrus on the less favored pheno. Both really sticky plants, smelly plants. I will be cutting the less favored sooner than. Later to be safe but trying to finish the flush. They may even go down together if possible.
Really excited about this finish.
Stay tuned
As if January 7th, these have officially both been chopped.
#2 chopped 1/2/22 found some bananas in one branch only. The buds are extremely thick. I am shocked. Very good smelling and so far drying for almost 1 week. Looks like I'll be able to make it maybe even the whole 2 weeks of drying. Either way very pleased. Not the bud formation I'd like but this is def fire.
#1 chopped 1/7/22 and absolutely insane. Best bud structure iv ever had. Covered from end to end with extremely sticky, stinky resin that smells unbelievable. Super skunky with lots of blue berry like scent. Pungent as hell. These two stannnkkk.
Very very tough on the carbon filters haha. I'm expecting an outstanding yield now that it's hanging to dry.
I will surely update with dried weight results and really good pics if finished product. This is top shelf. Stay tuned !
Shorter update now, bigger update during smoke report coming soon...
This was my first DWC and because I'm still new with growing in general, I have quickly made the decision that DWC hydroponics is for me! The speed and ease of the entire process is un matched in soil. Adjustments can be made in the fly. No salt build up to worry about. It's also a cleaner process with no "dirt" to worry about.
There is still an understanding and details that need met. Aeration of tap water is a must as well as using synthetic nutrients meant for hydroponics. pH is effected by several things and will constantly fluctuate. Temperature is important to keep under 75 or IMO under 73 degrees. Removing your water pump from the grow tent is an easy way to lesson the temp of the air into the water.
Changing the water every 7 days is critical especially if you cannot always guarantee pH is within 5.5-6.5..briefly being out of range is not very harmful so replacing the entire pot with a fresh mix of nutrients once a week and only topping with fresh aerated water on the days in between. Allow the water to get at least to the bottom half of the root ball before each watering. This will promote root growth during this time with no damage as the water is always spitting moisture and the area above the water is very humid and moist keeping the roots wet all over.
Quick final note. Dwc grows fast, be prepared to drill your buckets so you have a place to tie to for lst or plan scrog nets. Either a drain system is needed or a fluid transfer pump to empty the pots as eventually there size make it hard to remove the plant just to dump the bucket for a refill so planning ahead for this is a must. I pop my lid, slide it over and stick a fluid transfer pump in to remove and refill the pots. Absolutely thrilled with hydro and the bud is the most dank I have ever smelled. Wow super skunky blueberry smell. Sorry for the fingers on the buds in some pictures. 😀Stay tuned for full update.
