Purplematic popped and was in dome for first two weeks to increase humidity. No action from WW in the first week so I pulled it out and replaced with another seed. It popped one week behind my purplematic. This is my first grow and I probably shouldn't have planted two strains in one reservoir. We'll see! Using GH Flora series

Do we typically consider week 1 to be after the seed has popped or the day it was planted? This is my first grow and I'm trying to log this diary back when I started the grow.

I considered it the day that the first 'true' leaves started developing. For me that was: Germination "week": 3 days...Week 1 starting on day 4 after putting seeds in moist soil.

Purplematic started flowering this week and showing pistils. The white widow has been showing signs of calcium deficiency with brown spots on leaves. I have been targeting a PH of 6 and calibrating a garbage vivosun pH tester constantly with little success. I do 3 step calibration with temperature control and it still reads over a full digit off when comparing to solution test. Giving up on the pH pen tester and just using solution seems to help the deficiency.

Great production on the Purple this week. The white widow has been slower and keeps showing signs of calcium or magnesium deficiencies. The widow seems to be extremely sensitive compared to the purple. Currently flowering with just 112 watts of mixed LEDs but I'm going to add a mars ts 600 when it arrives next week. I set my feed reminder for every 7 days but I keep losing control of PH at around 4-5 days after last feed. Seems to happen consistently when PPM gets under 300.

I added the Mars TS600 this week to try and boost flower production. So in total, I now have the 100W mars, 40W aerogarden lamp, and 2x 36W bulbs for a total of 212W input. Not sure if this is overkill or counterproductive for a grow of this size but I'm watching for ill effects. I had to turn up my exhaust fan to pull the additional heat out of the tent to keep things under 78F. The white widow is still struggling with the same deficiencies. Looks like calmag. I'll get a close up of those leaves next check-in. I am also still experiencing a loss of PH control around day 5 after feeding. PPM drops and so does PH and water levels so maybe I'm just under feeding? The only thing that corrects it is flushing the res adding fresh water and nutes, and a bit of ph up usually.

I'm losing PH control 4-5 days after feed. PPM drops to 200-300 and PH drops under 5. I flush the res and add new solution every 5 days because this is what works to stabilize ph. It can hold ph for 4 days before I lose it again. You think I'm under feeding?

I would think best way to figure out would be the following: Check your volume, ppm and pH measure every 24 hours. You will see how much ppm & water the plants are going through every day and what the related pH change is. If you have a very high base pH of your water supply and have to add lots of pH- to get to where you need to be after adding nutes, once the ppm has depleted you may experience a yoyo effect. Along that line (from the other side) that if you fill up a 5L res to say 500ppm (as an example) and overnight your res loses 1L but the ppm is now 750ppm you need to dilute to bring it back as your nutes are effectively more concentrated due to the drop in your res and it is almost certain this would cause a pH swing too. I would suggest diluting first to fill the res and then ppming to where you need to be, wait 5-10 mins to let it circulate and then pH it - you may find that you can plot a bit of a course over a week, figure out roughly how much water and how much ppm is used per day and make micro adjustments every so often for topping up res and adding nutes and pH - rather than trying to hold out for a week at a time. Like rasta said below - air quality on your bubblers can effect pH too.

It was kinda a shit show trying to figure out my deficiency on the WW. So much conflicting info out there but I've been trying to monitor water uptake, PPM and ph like a hawk. Instead of holding out a week at a time between nutes and flush I have been adding smaller nutrient doses when I top off throughout the week. This seems to help my ph control but I think I am approaching nutrient burn as my tips are yellowing and a few leaves are starting tacoing slightly. This surprises me as my ppm is well below the 700-1000 commonly suggested for flowering. The purple has been strong and near flawless but the widow is sensitive af. I think I might harvest the purple soon to create some extra space for my widow to finish strong.

I will need to harvest the purple much sooner than the widow. Two questions: 1) Can I dry the purple in my tent that the widow is still growing in, meaning it will not be drying in the dark? 2) Can I flush the purple with fresh water for a week or more without hurting the widow?

You could build a drying box out of cardboard to dry inside tent and keep it dark. If they both share the same resovor, you will be flushing both. No the fresh water won't hurt but you won't be feeding nutrients either.

I harvested the purplematic last week. Defoliated leaves with calmag defecit and reduced micro and increased bloom nutes. I also raised my lights a few more inches from around 18" to 24" since some leaves looked like they were getting burnt tips.

Sorry, another "when to harvest question". Think I'm close? Seems like the trichomes are getting milky but there are also some that look clear?

For the highest possible THC concentration( milky trics ) It looks like its 1-2 days(mostly milky with a few clear and a few amber). For a good balance of Head high and Relaxing high I would say you have 3-4 days(mostly milky with no clear and several amber). and for a couch lock mellow high you have 4-6 days( Alot of milkey with 10% amber). Its best to harvest right before lights on. If you cant do it right before your lights on time then extend the dark period up to a max of 24h. Happy Growing

Growing was a breeze. I think I took her a bit early but I was trying to free up space in my setup. The flowers were a bit airy but I think that was me not knowing how to prune/train well. I also introduced a more powerful light late in flowering.

Pretty uneventful week 10. These photos are from a couple days ago. I gave her a last feed to see if her flowers can get any more dense. Triches are starting to turn amber and I've been flushing the past 24 hours and will likely harvest tonight. She stayed super short and bushy so for my next grow I'm going to try and stretch them a bit more to get more light through the canopy.

Was fairly easy grow. I could have trained her a little better to reduce under growth so she could focus on her main colas. I had consistent signs of calmag deficiency no matter what I tried so that was my only bummer.
