The plant is looking great! Very bushy with many tops. A rather flat canopy. Still need to do some more training to flatten things out a little more.

Any opinions on these funky looking / corkscrewing new top leaves? It seems to be a recurring theme in my two grows. https://www.growweedeasy.com/zinc-deficiency-cannabis Is it zinc? Thanks everyone

How's your room.on fans and exhaust lines? I know having air flowing nicely around the buds are important, but if a fan is blowing to strong or pointed at the plant it can cause almost a wind burn, which can twist and warp leaves but can make them look like a deficiency or toxicity. I see you're using LEDs and that they're less that 10in. Away, light/heat burn can not only cause the twisted growth but it can also discolor new growth as well. I hope you find a good fix. Happy growing

😧 I discovered & killed some spider mites on the plant (about 4 or 5). A small number of affected leaves with white spots (no webbing) were removed. Sprayed some methylated spirit + soap water on the bottom part of the plant below buds. Any tips for bugs this late in flower?

Hi @BillMonroe! Well, since your plants are already in the flowering stage, you can't use neem oil and should avoid spraying any chemicals. However, spider mites really hate water, so if you think that mold won't be an issue (good airflow + low relative humidity) you can spray clear water when the light turns off and/or when the lights turns on. Another thing they hate is wind, so I'd recommend to use a tiny fan and create a continuous breeze onto the apical summits. These two tricks won't solve the issue for good since all the mites are not going to die, but it should prevent them from multiplying and ruining your crop. You will need a good cleaning session with a vacuum cleaner and neem oil + soap after your harvest. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Predatory bugs, like ladybugs would probably be best in my opinion. Good luck! 👍

@BillMonroe, I've had 2 battles with those s.o.b.s. I had 1 outdoor in flower and I sprayed it with a hard mist setting on my spray nozzle for the garden hose and sprayed them all off. Read it somewhere and didnt think it would work but I never saw another for the last 10-14 days(nights were real cold too). I also used water/alcohol solution and sprayed the indoor plants effected. Couldnt beat em on 1, appears I did on the other. I removed all the effected area since I had just switched to 12/12 that day and sprayed thoroughly with alcohol. I used straight 91% isopropyl cuz I had used 50% for weeks on my 1 in flower with little progress. 91% worked but I scorched it real bad. It almost looked like the alcohol got in the leaves thru the mite bites and fried them. I'd try 75% alcohol next time and not drench the leaves. Sorry for writing a novel but if it leads to 1 mite being killed it's worth it. My #1 enemy on earth currently lol.

@BillMonroe, I think you’re on the right path. Best of luck!

@DudeGrowsWeed, thanks, this seems like the best approach so late in flower. I haven't come across anything that can be safely sprayed at this stage. I ordered some predatory mites that suit my environment. Today I did not find a single living thing after looking for half an hour, but I know the pests love to hide. I'll treat the room with the methylated spirit solution and set out some hunter mites after the weekend to try and cull any remaining or coming populations

Looking great, 1-2 more weeks til harvest?

BillMonroe
@BeefWellingtons,thanks :) No idea when it will be ready! The breeder says 55 days so it might be 2-3 weeks... time will tell!

Your older lower leaves are going to start shriveling, discoloring and wilting that they call off. Just something that happens to the lower older leaves.

@Kirr38, Good point, I probably should not call that a deficiency 😊

The thing is if you detect 4 or 5 of those lil foggers you will have more. I recommend you to clean up your whole grow envoirment after that grow, its nice described in the article..... ok you did that all before i wrote it... well done...

Yeah, that sounds about right, 2 weeks for more growth, then 1 week for flush.

I'm glad to hear your twisted growth issue is resolved! This must came from a slight heat stress. Happy growing 👊

Hi @BillMonroe! Hard to say with the pictures you provided but in this situation I would try 2 things : 1) increase the distance between the light and the canopy, these new growth might be under light stress. 2) reinforce the airflow with a small rotating fan, these new growths might be searching for air. Hope this helps, keep us up-to-date and happy growing! 👊

The plants are looking very good. How do you like those grow pots? Do you think they make much difference? ✌️🌱💚

@Experimentgreen, I added some pics of the roots on this one. Entire pot filled with branching webs of thin stringy roots and some bigger ones. I had to pull the soil apart with force. I manually pruned the taproot of this plant at the bottom of the jiffy. It grew all the roots out of the sides of the jiffy
BillMonroe
BillMonroe
@Experimentgreen, Look at these roots, on the left is regular pot with drainage holes, on the right is 1 liter airpot: https://growdiaries.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.com/static/post/photo/7325/545030_pineapple-chunk-critical-xxl.jpg (3 week transplant) Much better roots in airpot and better plant growth. Packing the sides tightly with soil before adding it in the middle of the pot will prevent the water running out from the top holes. The pots have a learning curve but are very worth it After transplantation the roots from the regular container just started growing out from the soil as some of it was traveling upward due to the circling. The airpot already had roots coming out horizontally at just a few millimeters under the surface. i think the fabric pots are great too. What I like about airpot is that the bottom is lifted up off the ground... excellent air pruning at the bottom. when you see waves of root tips there you know the plant is creating lots of nice side branching roots
BillMonroe
BillMonroe
@Experimentgreen,Yep I will take some pictures of the roots :) I'm quite interested too... I tried 2 stages of root pruning, first in the jiffy (manually pruned the taproot), then in 1L airpots. The execution is a little lacking but I am inspired by this youtube video - Root System Basics by RootBuilder. Their method is to allow a plant to develop lots of root sin a 4x4 inch area before transplanting. Some growers have put it to practice. Your plants are looking absolutely immense and I can't wait to see them in flower (I'm sure you can't either)! I think such a large volume of soil allows the plant to grow much more freely like it would in ideal circumstances in nature.

@Mrs_Larimar, thanks, I certainly hope so! Like you said there will be more somewhere... hopefully the predatory mites are able to find all the eggs.
