I decided to take a couple of clones from my Chemdawg plants which are currently in week 8 of veg. I'm using my Clone King 36 aeroponic cloner. I've used this cloner with great success in the past, pretty much 100% or at least close, but I've only used it exclusively with one strain, Green Dragon OG. I'm going to clone these Chemdawg plants the same way and see what kind of results i get. One immediate difference, the Green Dragon OG was a very leggy plant, she loved to grow tall. My clones would be on the taller side as a result, the nodes were very far apart. The Chemdawg is the opposite, very squat and bushy. I didn't want to take any of the upper nice tops, so I grabbed some from the bottom branches, which I usually do, but the result is very short clones. First and foremost, never let the temp of the water get above 83 degrees F. When necessary, I use sealed frozen bottles of drinking water and drop them into the Clone King to bring the temp down. I usually only have to do this in the hot summer months.
I used tap water for the Clone King, and ph'd it to 5.5 I usually aim between 5.5 and 5.8. One thing that is very critical, as soon as you make the 45 degree diagonal cut submerge the cut end in a container of water for 10 minutes minimum. This prevents air bubbles from entering the cut stem and killing the clone. Another thing I do once I pull the cutting from the water is to submerge it in a shot glass filled with Clonex rooting gel for 10 minutes. As soon as the cutting goes into the cloner the Clonex will obviously wash off, but with experimenting I've found that it does produce more roots by using it. I have an airstone in my Clone king also for extra oxygenation of the water. After the clones are in the Clone King, I give them a spray of Clonex Mist Root Promoter, I will also mist them again in the morning, and that should be sufficient. I have a 24 watt T5 light 12" from the tops of the clones. With traditional clone domes with rockwool or rootcube setups, wilting is always a problem. Constant misting is usually required at first, etc. I've never experienced that since I switched to aeroponics. Never had one wilt. Hope I didn't just jinx myself 😐😕😁
Day 2 - All is very well. Despite the sudden weather change here, high heat and low humidity, the girls are doing fine. Full steam ahead!
Day 3 - The girls seem very happy, they're standing up and perky just like I like em 😉
Day 4 - All is well. I expect to start seeing some root bumps soon 🙏
Day 5 - Just playin the waiting game. Clones look happy.
Day 6 - The girls look very happy considering they have no roots. I'm starting to see signs of eminent rootage. 😉
Day 7 - OK, now we're getting root nubbies on all 4 of the girls. There will be roots shooting out in a couple of days! 😁
Day 8 - Nubbies are increasing in size and quantity. Actual roots should be really popping out by tomorrow I'm hoping. All in all, this is going exactly as I was expecting. 😃
I swapped out the water in the Clone King tonight with fresh tap water, ph'd to 5.65 I also lowered the light a few inches closer, now at 9 inches from tops of clones.
I had them higher earlier to discourage veg growth so they could focus on developing roots. Now that roots are forming, I'm reintroducing the brighter light to now
encourage veg growth.
Day 9 - Continued growth along the stem, all is well
Day 10 - Looking good
Day 11 - Everything is going according to plan 😁
Day 12 - All 4 girls are really popping out roots now, shouldn't be much longer before they're in soil. Can't wait! 😜
Day 13 - Roots growing quickly now 😁
Day 14 - The clones could be moved to soil at this point, but I'm not in a rush so I'll wait another day or 2. Hoping to see some fishboning from the roots. 😎
Day 1 - Transplanted Betty and Wilma clones to soil and moved into the tent. After digging the hole for the roots, I sprinkled a generous amount of Great White Granular into the hole. As I caved in dirt back into the hole I added more of the GWG beneficial bacteria little by little. It really helps in root development. I already had another chemdawg in the tent that was grown from seed so now there is 5 plants total. For a day or 2 I'm keeping the new clones at 28" from the light. It will be interesting to see a side by side comparison with the chemdawg clones to their sister chemdawg grown from seed. Pebbles? 😳
Day 2 - Clones are looking happy, no sign whatsoever of any shock from transplanting. 😎 Moved the light to 24"
Day 3 - Clones are growing, gained about 1/2" in height since yesterday. They're still very small, the tallest is 3 1/2"
Day 4 - The ladies are all looking nice!
Day 5 - Looking good.
Day 7 - Girls are rooting into the soil nicely
Day 8 - Clones seem to be doing fine, and some inner branches are just starting to grow. Tallest is 5" and the smallest is 3 1/2"
Day 9 - Still haven't watered the clones since I put them in soil, I like to let the soil get pretty dry before I water them for the first time so that the roots will have to grow and search for more moisture. Healthy roots provides healthy plants! They're getting pretty close though to getting a thorough drench. maybe tomorrow night. 😀
Day 10 - Watered the girls with tap water ph'd to 6.5 Nice and dark green healthy plants
Day 11 - Looking good. B1 and W2 are 6" and W1 and B2 are 5 1/2" 😍
Day 12 - 😀
Day 13 - All 4 clones are 7" These girls are happy, gonna move them to their new bigger containers sooner than later 😁
Day 14 - Watered the girls tonight with tap water ph'd to 6.45
Day 15 - Girls are looking good after last nights watering, now 8"
Day 16 - Forgot to add, after I watered 2 nights ago I checked the ph of the runoff water in the trays. I checked each girl individually and they all fell within a range of 6.39 to 6.48. 😃
Day 17 - Transplanted each of the clones into 5 gallon pots. Lined the prepared hole with Great White Beneficial Bacteria, transplanted the plants, and topped it off with tap water ph'd to 6.45 🙏 So far they look happy. They are all at or near 9"
Day 18 - The girls are looking very happy in their new spacious 5 gallon pots.
Day 19 - Ranging from 9 to 10+" each 😎
No sign of shock whatsoever. 😁
Day 20 - Almost 12" tall now, I'll be topping soon
Day 21 - Topping both Wilma's tonight
Day 22 - Ready to top the 2 Bettys
Day 23 - Topped the Bettys. Watered all 4 with tap water ph'd to 6.5
Day 24 - These girls are leggy being clones, their seed mothers were much more compact and dense. But they are growing nicely, all 4 are within 1/2 inch in height from each other, 12 1/2 to 13".
Day 25 - New growth everyday! Today they all at 13 - 14"
Day 26 - Looking good
Day 27 - Defoliated just a few leaves last night
Day 28 - A little light burn on B2
Day 29 - Ugghhh, signs of lockout on some of the clones. I'm guessing I got a bad batch of soil last time, as the SFV OG used the same stuff. Gonna water and and add some calmag and measure the runoff
Day 30 - No change
Day 31 - Girls are up to around 16" and very leggy with little growth inside. Lst'd the girls and defoliated a bit to get some light down inside. I'll top the heck out of them in a day or two to let the inside start to catch up and also to increase the outside tops.
Day 32 - They took nicely to the LST
Day 33 - Want to hit them with some calmag, just waiting till they need water. I'm almost certain I got a bad batch of soil which would explain the problems with 2 different grows that used the same soil.
Day 34 - Watered tonight. Gave the 2 Wilma's 1 tsp calmag and 2 tsp Grow Big per gallon, and the Betty's 1/2 tsp calmag and 2 tsp Grow Big. I hadn't yet fed them before and hoping this will help with their issues.
Day 35 - My yellow girls are hanging in there. Hoping they turn around and start greening up. Friggin bad batch of fox farms ocean forest. Bought it from a different store than my usual source, won't be going back there. The SFV and these chemdawg clones both yellowed up after transplanting into this soil. Also, a buddy I set up with 2 chemdawg seedlings is having the same problem. I'm using city tap water and he's using well water so it's not the water. We ph every watering to 6.5
Day 36 - The problem the girls are having from the soil issues seems to have slowed down after the calmag and Grow Big dousing. Hoping to see some greener new growth soon. 🙏
Day 37 - I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see that the girls have greened back up quite a bit. 😎
Day 38 - They're continuing to green up.
Day 39 - Topped the upper 3-4 tops on each plant, hoping to let the lower branches catch up a bit plus bush her up a bit too.
Day 40 - Watered tonight with tap mixed with 1 1/3 tsp Grow Big and 3/4 tsp calmag, ph'd to 6.56
Day 41 - Gonna defoliate a little tonight. The girls are up to 18 1/2"
Day 42 - Defoliated the Wilmas last night (Ones on the right). Gonna defoliate the Bettys tonight
Day 43 - Defoliated the Bettys last night (Ones on the left) Still a lot of yellowing in the fresh tops? 😐
Day 44 - No change
Day 45 - They're starting to get thirsty, maybe need to water tomorrow
Day 46 - Watered the girls today with tap ph'd to 6.6
Day 47 - Getting a little crowded in there, the girls will be moving to the 4x4' tent this weekend after their moms are harvested. That sounds kind of harsh. 😝
Day 48 - Moving these girls Saturday, they need more space
Day 49 - Probably have to water tomorrow
Day 50 - Still ok on water
Day 51 - Watered with tap with 2 tsp Grow Big and 1/2 tsp cal mag per gallon to help with the stretch as she will be flowering soon.
Day 52 - They're in their new digs in the 4x4
Day 53 - So far the girls seem happy in the bigger tent
Day 54 - The girls are measuring from 19 1/2 - 22"
Day 55 - Going to flower tomorrow
Day 56 - They're starting to yellow a bit. 😐
Day 57 - Watered the front 2 today with tap ph'd to 6.5
Day 58 - No change
Day 59 - Need to defoliate soon
Day 60 - Gave the 4 girls a pretty decent defoliation tonight
Day 61 - Looking good

Day 71 - Girls got watered tonight with tap ph'd to 6.5
Day 72 - The girls are looking happy! 😎
Day 73 - The flowers are continuing to bulk up a bit and spread all over
Day 74 - Everything is coming along nicely
Day 75 - Smell is increasing
Day 76 - Girls are chugging along
Day 77 - I'm partaking in some of the chemdawg right now from these clones moms and cranking some tunes. Really nice buzz from this chemdawg, nice job ILGM! 💪
Day 78 - The girls got watered today with tap mixed with 1.5 tsp Tiger Bloom per gallon and then ph'd to 6.5
Day 79 - Girls are soaking up the light
Day 80 - Buds are looking nice!
Day 81 - It is a pretty fragrant strain
Day 82 - Hoping the buds start bulking up a bit
Day 83 - All is well
Day 84 - These girls look like they are starting to thicken up. They still have 4 weeks or so to go. 😀
Day 85 - Out of nowhere 3 of 4 are yellowing quickly and a few spots that look like a calmag or ph type issue. I only water with a ph of 6.5 so I know it's not ph. Gave the girls a dose of Sensi Cal-Mag Xtra at 1.5 tsp per gallon and will keep a close eye. Hopefully I can nip it in the bud. 🙏🙏🙏
Day 86 - Nothing has spread, keeping watch.
Day 87 - The girls seem to be improving, full steam ahead!
Day 88 - Nothing new, holding steady
Day 89 - Ok, the girls have almost completely greened back up, thank you Sensi Calmag Xtra! Pheewww
Day 90 - Buds are getting bigger and frostier 😎
Day 91 - Very nice smells in the tent!
Day 92 - There's a decent amount of buds, but not like their mothers had. At least not yet.
Day 93 - The girls just wanna bask in the warmth
Day 94 - Finally starting to get a little bulkier
Day 95 - Really smelling nice in there
Day 96 - The girls got watered last night with 1/2 tsp Sensi Cal Mag Xtra per gallon of de-chlorinated tap, ph'd to 6.57
Day 97 - All is looking as it should 😎
Day 98 - I love those days when you look at the garden and just go "Whoa they seem a lot bigger than yesterday" 😁
Day 99 - 2+ weeks to go I would guess, everything is progressing nicely.
Day 100 - The buds are all pretty small compared to the mother plants, might get the same yield out of these 4 as I got out of the two mothers. But it's been a fun grow from clone to flower, just a week or two to go 😉
Day 101 - I do have to say, when I open the tent the smell is really nice 😁
Day 102 - I'm thinking about harvesting next weekend. 🙏
Day 103 - So far these clones have done ok
Day 104 - Watered the girls with de-chlorinated tap ph'd to 6.5
Day 105 - Going to harvest these lovely ladies this coming weekend and move the Expert Seeds grow into this bigger tent.
Day 106 - I'm planning on harvesting them this weekend, I may even start tomorrow night. This has been a fun grow, seems like so long ago when I took the clones. 😀
I'm loving the chemdawg!!! This is an easy to grow strain which frosts up nicely and has a great flavor and buzz. Not quite couch lock but very stoney. I would recommend this strain to anyone from novice to experience
Phewww, went on a 7 hour trim session last night with my neighbor and grow buddy helping out. We got them trimmed up and hanging. I have a humidifier in the room keeping it around 50% at the moment. Boy does it smell good in there. 😁
Thank you for this very informative diary! For someone which is learning the ropes like me this is very precious information.
Wish you luck with the growth! 😄🙏🙌
