Oct 19th I selected the Largest seed provided by OLD SCHOOL BREEDERS ASSOCIATION; www.oldschoolba.com, of the high THC Black Willie strain, from “Reeferman Genetics”
The famous Willie Nelson strain, has been bred back into the Rare landrace black Vietnamese strain, for further improvements and gains.
With a couple of batches in progress, and both Tents in Flower right now…, BW is going to get a short-ride, and its going to be 12/12 lighting the week after Germination.
Its kind of a patchwork grow, but I really do want to see how this Bud will present itself
- Cannot find a single strain review, time to set something in motion. First of many BW’s is the wish. Will keep you posted…
Cheers Gang, here we go... DESCRIPTION of BLACK WILLIE
(Vietnam Black x Willie Nelson) Willie Nelson won the High Times Cannabis Cup in 2005 for Best Sativa. Willie Nelson is a cross that involved Vietnamese Black. A very exotic and rare Sativa lineage. When Willie Nelson is crossed back to the Vietnamese Black all the desirable traits of the original cross are retained. However, with a higher more amplified sense of euphoria, a signature quality of the original Willie Nelson.
While this strain can be classified as an “Exotic Sativa”, it’s easier to grow than most plants in this class and offers respectable yields in a reasonable amount of time. A plus with stretchy and longer flowering Sativas such as this, is that little if any, time is required for vegetative growth once plants are established. Lots of space for the limbs and roots are recommended for maximum results. Staking or trellising may be required to support dense colas at maturity on longer limbs. When mature, towers of large resin coated calyxes protrude from the elongated buds with minimal foliage.
Buds glow due to their thick resin carpeting. Yes, by the way it’s true, Willie Nelson really is Willie’s favorite strain. You almost sure to see some Willie phenos in a regular pack, but you can also select for something even a little more exotic with this one! A really, up, up, up kind of variety-little or no ceiling to the buzz; the more you smoke, the more intense it gets. While not an ideal candidate for Sea Of Green applications, Black Willie is highly adaptable to Screen Of Green (ScROG)/trellised applications.
Recommended for patients with glaucoma, migraines, depression or just feeling good with no slowing you down. Breeders Notes: Black Willie THC strain is a sativa dominate variety (The Legendary Willie Nelson x Vietnam black)
The Black Willie high THC phenotype is a real knock-out ✊ contender. It has the the defined Genetics of the Willie Nelson. Crossed back to the single male survivor of the Vietnam Black. This male was a sole survivor of 10 seeds. That were sent back to us from Florida. A die hard Reeferman Genetics fan. Who had saved 10 seeds he had purchased many years back sent the seeds back without protection. We thank him for getting them back in any condition. But unfortunately This caused most all but 3 seeds to be crushed. Of the 3, one made it to be mature.
This was an astounding male that showed of glistening trichomes at the end of its bloom cycle. We luckily used this male to create the BLACK WILLY THC strain. Many users can tell you this strain is a winner. This strain is the only strain to “HOLD BOTH A THC CUP AND CBD CANNABIS CUP”.
A 8-10 week flower time with a tremendous yield and spicy earthy taste. Makes you see why this strain won both cups hands down. From a Jamaican Island healing helpful THC and CBD effect of the CBD strain version. To a well developed Oldschoolba uplifting and cancer fighting CBD-THC high. There is no doubt why IT has been awarded a full spectrum of cups!
The Yield may vary due to growing conditions: med – heavy
Flower time : 8-10 weeks or the End of October. “Thc black willie” 15 -21% thc on average with the high thc version
Thats where it starts…
Oct 23rd
-no tail yet… 2nd B.W. seed dropped in water to help cover my ass
** 26th, after stalling for 2 days with only a cracked Shell, BW has extended the Tail and we are off and running. Planted in Soil this Morning
( this is the one that dies )
27th a.m.
- the B.W. insurance-seed that was moistened “just in case…” did a great job and pushed out a 1” tail overnite; my kinda seed. So it was also planted in a cup this morning !!
- both Watered and the Human is a bit relieved
28th
- Noticed at Lites-out, that the cover-my-ass seed, seems to have done just that ha. Put in water a full 3 days after the other one, it has broken ground first !!
29th
- both B.W. seeds have broken ground.
- 2 cups of water in a circle around the Original… and a moistening for the Solo cup.
** fyi, the idea of this Circle watering, is to establish a column of water within the pot. It helps get roots down to the bottom of the growing media. Good starting info, gets you one month-in and then you can take it where you wish.
Oct 30th
- as it turns out, the original seed shrivelled up over nite and is done! So seed no2 rules and will be transplanted in a couple days to the 26L pot.
Oct 31st
- BW #2 was moistened… and transferred to a bigger pot.
Nov 1st
- BW looks strong this morning and will start a watering sched tomorrow pm. Its had water thrown at it in a cup and was transferred real early. Give it a moment to catch her breath.
- foliar mist applied to help feed the plant, while the roots take hold
Nov 2
- Last day of Germ, shit gets real pretty soon m’aam
- fed 2 cups of water
Can anybody help me ID what is happening to these Fan leaves, at the top of my Black Willie.
Leaf temp is 1c cooler than the room. Leaf 22c, room 23c, rh%55, lite distance 45cm.
The leaf is showing that its folding like a canoe. Always thought that was signs of “ “too hot”.
@sailormoonflowers, Thanks for looking I really appreciate your words.
Cool Place thats for sure and I still get help from all directions as well.
Heres to our Success
When leafs curl inwards like that it is to shut down photosynthesis. We refer to it as tacoing, Too much PAR on the plants is the exact cause of that. Using a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 62 max and a PAR meter will help you achieve the most optimal position for your lights in relation to the plants.
@Green_Knight, Thanks for that information. Greatly appreciated. There was no obvious Stoppage of any growing or degradation of conditions, but I was nervous. Baby steps and research, people like yourself help keep my Plants together.
Thanks for stepping in
@LegacyMarketFarm,
My Kwazulu (s) are very pronounced in orienting their fan leaves in a "v" configuration when offered copious light.
Given that they collectively orient themselves toward the light source, my experience is that the plant is maximizing it's light exposure.
This is what I suspect most people including myself would call "praying".
On the flip side I have other plants that will curl leaves down and inwards along both the lateral & longitudinal axis simultaneously, under the same exact lighting conditions as the Kwazulu.
Needless to say, if the plant is otherwise healthy and thriving, I would not start making any dramatic change.
Dialling back the light intensity seems to be a safe first step, toward narrowing the possibilities.
@LegacyMarketFarm, that is the exact problem I was facing. BUT, I was monitoring the leaf temp vs the room, and the leaf temp was 2 degrees C cooler. I was also running a pretty cool room. Lights had been dimmed. Certainly a unique scenario with this Strain. Which was also a tad further away from the light, than the pine tar… lets call her sensitive, for the future.
Cheers bro
