I lost a seedling and with my current Black Strap looking beautiful I decided to soak another one. I soaked for 24, paper towel 24 and put in dirt on 11/7. The soil is Pro Mix HP amended with worm castings and Natures Living Soil. Rice hulls for drainage.
11/8 we have life! BS2 is above dirt.
11/8 here we go. For now she’s in the corner of my 4x4 under an extra light at 25%. When her big sister comes down or she get established I’ll move her over to her permanent place. For now I’ll mist and water in Recharge when needed.
11/13 d6 removed humidity dome raised light. Spraying top of soil a little daily
11/15 last day of week one. Lights at 75%. Misting top of soil.
11/17. Week 2. Just misting the top and letting those roots grow
11/21 looking great. Gave her a shot of tea tonight.
11/23 last day of this week. She looks a little odd but growing great.
Hello doc don't worry it arrives often that the first leaves can be a little twisted . it is not a problem. This will disappear when the others leaves will grow. Then i see in your diary that you have too much nitrogen in your soil or with your feeding so careful. Try to give less nitrogen because your plant got already a dark green . Otherwise you are doing a good job. Good idea to use mychorise. 👍. Good luck. Bye
11/25 🦃 realized the crazy looking leaf was stuck to the top of the plant. Hopefully no stunting or mutant plant because I’m old and can’t see. Haha
11/26 rebounding quickly from my mess up and lack of attention.
11/27 looking great now. Growing out wonderful
11/29 everything is going well. Due to the early stuck leaves I believe this will be an oddly shaped plant. I look forward to training her.
11/30. Decided to get creative with training. After previous issues her spacing is crazy so why not.
12/2. Not a lot to report. I soaked the pot tonight. I am concerned it’s stunted from the leave problem early on but we shall see. Updates to come.
12/4. A little training today. Used wire to tie her down and open things up.
12/5. Getting aggressive with training. She’s responding well so far.
12/7. A week coming to an end. I’m training the hell out of this plant. This may be called main lining? It’s fun and hopefully the yield is awesome.
12/9. New week. Flowering is beginning slowly but not quite. She’s going to be a short one I think so I’m having fun training her and seeing what happens. I will feed a tea tomorrow and continue to train. Updates throughout the week.
12/12. Starting to show sex. I continue to train. Very cool the way she’s responding
12/14. I continue to push the 3 tops down and leave behind new stems/bud sites. This trial seems to be working amazingly! Watering and air flow at the base may be an issue but I’ll cross that bridge if needed.
12/16. Flowering is beginning. I may stop training now and let her grow vertically. Watering when dry but so far she’s not very thirsty at all. I think I’ll prepare a tea to get her jump started to stretch.
12/23. Shuffling lights around and she’s landed in the grow bed for now between 2 Mars lights. I top dressed and watered lightly last night. I hope to see stretch really soon.
12/25. Funny little plant. My expectations are going down quickly. The last one I grew I got 100g. This one may be a 30g plant. I think the leaf sticking in the beginning caused something to stunt.
12/30. New week. Not a lot going on. Extremely small plant she’s going to be all bud. I guess I trained to hard or the leaf trouble at the beginning stunted this one. Oh well it’ll be good bud.
1/4. The stump is changing color and getting frosty.
1/8. She is changing colors and getting frosty. Waiting another week to ten days to harvest.
1/12. Moved her over to the 4x4 under the new light to finish up. Not a lot of changes happening. Waiting for pistols to turn and trichomes to show a touch of amber.
1/17. She’s about finished. I’ll chop any day. Hoping for a little more density.
1/23. Coming down tomorrow. I moved her to a dark room for the day. Very disappointing grow that I’m glad is about over.
This plant stunted early because a few leaves got stuck. The yield is bad but this is my favorite strain to smoke so I’ll have a little to last until the next one.
This was a pretty boring grow really. Early stunting lead to dwarf plant. It was already a water only type grow 😴 Black Strap is an amazing strain to grow and enjoy. I already have another seedling.
Hey friend would it be alright for me to offer some pointers for next round ? Just quickly looking at your later weeks of flower your temp gap between lights on and lights off is still nice and tight. This is generally a good thing in veg and early flower. We want that gap tight between lights on and lights off if we expose the plants to temp swings of more than 10 degrees less while the plants are still growing vertically we will make them stretch a lot. But once your plants have finished their vertical growth by weeks 4 to 6 of flower autoflowers you gotta watch for it by eye. But at this point we want to then open up that temp gap wider beyond more than 10 degrees less with lights off and a bit more each week.
At this stage instead of stretching it will send a signal to the plants to put extra energy into the budding process and resin production.
Also through a lot of experience, c02 or not buds grown at temps all the way through flower over 80 will be big, but very airy and prone to fox tail. If our rooms are too cold our buds will be very dense and caked but we lose a lot of size. The best of both worlds seems to be around 77 lights on after weeks 2 to 4 of flower and widening your temp gap as they progress.
If you do not have them already get yourself a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 62 max and a PAR meter. These items will help you read your plants better and grow to their needs. Also study VPD vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis.
