11/26 - Starting off 2 Sour Kush and 2 Critical Purple. They soaked for 18 hours and then moved to paper towel method. They tapped overnight! Planting today and hoping for a healthy and quick grow.
11/30 - 1 Critical Purple and 1 Sour Kush died. I started soaking 1 Gelato and 1 Revolver to take their place. Estimating about a weeks difference in harvest between 1st and second set of seeds. Bad luck 😔
12/4 - Not a bunch to say here. No nutes, because Ocean Forest carries enough for 3 to 4 weeks. 1 Critical Purple died before sprouting as well as 1 Sour Kush. Bad luck to start things off, but replaced them with Revolver and Gelato. Gelato hasn't sprouted as of today but it did germinate before planting. Now I've got 4 strains!!! Happy days are coming!
12/14 - The plants are growing nicely. I have some kind of deficiency or burn on Sour Kush. Added calmag in case it's calcium. More than likely, Ocean Forest is too hot for autoflowers.
12/20 - All 4 ladies are looking healthy, bushy and green! Looks like I've been fighting pH issues since my first grow and didn't know it. Now feeding/watering at 6.5 - 7.0. Was at 6.2 for my first 2 grows and they paid for it! Topped CP and SK 3 days ago.
12/26 - Merry day after Christmas! 1 month in and looking good! Sour Kush is once again having pH issues. All others doing well. Entered pre flowering on revolver and Critical Purple.
1/6 - All 4 have entered preflower. Revolver is living up to its fast reputation and has the most developed bud sites, by far! Ph was my entire problem with all of my grows. I was not checking runoff regularly and it was costing me.
1/9 - Things are going much better since the ph has gotten adjusted. Buds are really starting to form nicely. Looking forward to much more growth and a strong harvest!
1/16 - Flowering is moving fast! I hate dealing with pH issues! I just can't figure out how to keep the balance. I keep feeding at 6.5 after flushing to balance at 6.5 and runoff just keeps dropping. Revolver is still the absolute Queen of my grow!
1/23 - Flowering continues, not much else to say. I wish they would hurry up!!! Flushing Revolver for the rest of the grow, less than 2 weeks left. Flush the others and resumed feeding. TDS was way too high and was toxic to the plants.
Please explain seed banks term "flowering time". Would that be time from sprout to harvest, pre-flower to harvest, or flowering to harvest? I believe I read that pre-flowering takes 2 weeks till it enters true flower, please let me know if this is correct. Thanks!
completely ignore those estimates, as others have stated.
Bud density, pistil coloration and trichome coloration are the three factors you want to use. You need a 30-60x magnification to resolve the trichomes properly. maybe, some fancy phone can zoom in enough now? otherwise a cheap little currency checker or jeweler's loupe is good enough.
Each factor can vary a bit per plant, so it's as much an art as a science without lab equipment.. .and even then personal preference comes into play too. what does that mean? take every suggestion as a ballpark. Almost certainly have to test out a range of ripeness to know what you like best.
When you harvest a tad early, you lose some mass, but the quality will be fine. testing potency in a lab reveals this to be true in regard to thc/thca. Since we don't have it all mapped out, what we feel may be slightly different? some say 'speedier' from early and 'sedative' with more ripening (aka more amber).
2/2 - Happy Groundhog Day! My plants thankfully are not going to take 6 more weeks! CP, Gel, and SK are all continuing on the feed schedule. Revolver is still being flushed. I did start about 2 weeks early on the flush and that will hurt the yield. But, it should make the buds tasty and eliminate all hay flavor/smell.
2/7 - Still going! Continuing to flush Revolver. The leaves are yellowing while buds are fattening up and smelling much stronger. Gelato, Sour Kush, and Critical Purple are all showing lots of pistols and buds are getting much fatter.
Flushing the plants on a 2 week schedule has seemed to improve the health and growth. Working with 3 gallon pots and using salt based ferts, the salt builds up quick. Also, learned that i was harvesting way too early. I thought flowering time meant sprout to harvest. Instead, I found out that the clock starts when flowering begins, about 4 weeks into the grow. So my last 2 harvests were way premature, up to 4 weeks early. I shudder to think of how much weight I didn't get and the missed quality of fully mature buds. You live and you learn! 2/12 - Flowering is continuing. Revolver should harvest within days. The flush has worked great. Sour Kush and Gelato are done feeding and will flush until harvest. Critical Purple still has a month to go, so feeding will continue.
2/13 - Revolver has been a delight to grow! Harvesting was so much fun and the aroma was strong and very pungent. The drying closet is already reeking! I'm glad I took a chance on this free seed.
2/18 - Gelato and Sour Kush have been cutoff from nutrients. They are getting flushed from now until harvest, which should be in yge next 2-3 weeks. Critical Purple is continuing the feeding schedule for two more weeks then flushing.
2/19 - Flushing out remaining salts and nutes in Sour Kush and Gelato. Tricomes on both are milky and abundant. A few amber ones here and there on sugar leaves, mostly near where leaf damage existed.
Critical Purple is getting very impressive in bud size and density. Excited to see what I can get out this plant. Harvest will be mid to late March, unless she tells me differently 🤣😂🤣
2/28- Gelato is in a dark closet cutoff from light and water for 3 days and then harvesting. Sour Kush is closer now, with all sugar leaves yellowing. White pistols are still abundant. Critical Purple is covered in new growth on the buds, so many white hairs. Still almost a month to go on her. Revolver is almost 2 weeks into curing and is starting to smell great!
3/2- So stinky, so very very stinky! I mean seriously, damn it's stinky. Orange hair all the hell over her. Hand grenade size, dense buds. Can't wait for dry and cure to be done!
3/6 - Flowering continues for SK and CP. Both have been cutoff from nutrients and flushed thoroughly. SK will be next to harvest and I will put her in the dark for 72 hours before harvest. Gelato is on day 4 of drying and has lost 65% of its wet weight. RH has stayed at 60% and mid 60's for Temps. No direct air flow on buds. Moisture meter is still showing 30% moisture in buds and they are noticeably wet and smell of hay. So I know they aren't done, plus no crispness on the outside of the buds. Might make it to 7 days, but losing lots of weight along the way. I think the soil might not have dried out before harvest, making the buds heavier at that point. We will see.
3/12 - Harvested Sour Kush and wet trimmed. Buds were a bit loose from being in the dark a little long. Got 12 oz. wet and should get about 4 oz. dried.
3/14 - This is the last week of flowering for Critical Purple. It has already had its last watering and will be going in the dark tomorrow morning for 72 hours. Harvest on 3/18.
3/17 - Critical Purple is finally done! 15.2 oz. wet sitting in the drying room now. Expecting about 5 oz. after drying. Buds are very dense compared to last grow and so many more terps this time!
