Hi all. Here I have 2 gorilla cookies by fast buds (on the left) and 2 back to the future #2 from tastebudzseeds (on the right). The diary will be for the 2 gorilla cookies on the left but you might see the odd pictures of the BTTF#2’s on the right.
I’m using a basic 80x80x160cm
(2.7ft X 2.7ft X 5.4ft),with a Mars hydro ts1000 150W LED lamp and a 4inch EC extraction fan hooked up to a rhino hobby 4inch filter with phonic trap ducting either end. The EC fan combined with phonic trap ducting really helps to keep the noise to a minimum which is an issue for me.
Also I have a basic clip on fan powered by usb from Amazon which is also quite quiet. Over all, a basic but sufficient setup for my current needs 🙂
The carbon filter and extraction fan are suspended from the top of the tent along with the light, and the clip on fan will be blowing horizontally across the canopy while the intake duct is directed to the bottom of the tent allowing cool air to mix into the warm air as it gets drawn to the top and then out through the carbon filter.
I’m using 12 Ltr fabric pots (3gal) with light mix and perlite. As light mix already has about 20-30% perlite I added around another 20ish% perlite to make the mix nice and airy allowing for better drainage and letting the root zone to breath easier.
The seeds were put into a cup of water to soak at around 22C (room temp) overnight and then planted straight into the soil the very next morning. The soil was pre watered with 24C water treated with eco thrive neutralise and with 2ml/L of biobizz root juice added to it (ph’d to 6.2). The environment stayed around 25C and about 65-70% relative humidity. I achieved this by dialling down the extraction to a low speed and using an economic 80w tubular heater on the floor in the tent.
2 days after plugging the seeds straight into the soil after a 12 hour soak, they have sprouted 🍻👌!
Thanks for checking out my diary!
I hope you come back to visit again 😎🍻 STAY LIT 🔥 (fat spliff emoji)
Hi all.
Week 2 is behind us and these ladies have started to stretch a bit too much for my liking haha!
They’ve benefited from a bit of extra support at the moment so I’ve lowered the height of the light a bit and turned the intensity up a little bit to stop this spaghetti like stem growth haha.
I introduced biobizz fish mix into the feeding solution this week at a rate of 0.5ml/L along with 2ml/L of root juice. I adjust the temp of the solution to around 22C (Approx 70F) by adding boiled water (from the cold tap, boiled in the kettle) to the solution and then add the eco thrive neutralise before adding the root juice, fish mix and organic ph adjuster to 6.2.
They are getting about 200ml of solution at a time at the moment.
Poured close to the stem and not too wide.
I will water only when the top inch of the soil dries out. (Approximately)
Thanks for checking out my diary, and I hope you visit again soon.
🔥Stay lit and keep on growing 🔥
Hi all. This week sadly one of the BTTF#2’s has been pulled out due to it being stunted somehow and having a ridiculously thin stem and ridiculously compact growth.. So I decided to get it out before it gets drowned out by the over growth. Save nutrients and effort etc..
Bad news done, onto the good news.
The ladies have responded well to being topped and gently pinned and they are growing healthy and strong with nice wide green leaves and decent stem thickness’s.
The rate of fish mix has been increased to 1ml/L up from 0.5ml/L and the root juice has stayed at 2mlL.
The dose of eco thrive neutralise will stay the same throughout veg/flower/flush, right up to harvest.
I also added biobizz cal/mag at a rate of 0.3/L this week.
Again, ph at 6.2.
Thanks for checking out my diary as always, and I hope you visit again ✌️
🔥stay lit and keep growing!🔥
Not much to say here really.
Fish mix is up to 2ml/L from 1ml/L.
Everything else is the same as last week.
They’re starting to fill out with leaves now.
Another week and they’ll be stretching ready for flower I think.
Thanks for stopping by and hope you come back to check out the progress. Until next time 🔥
Hey all.
Everything is the same as last week.
Healthy growth, a bit of stretching, and the same feed solution.
Eagerly waiting to see some pistils now so we can crack on into the flowering stage.
Thanks for stopping by ✌️
Until next time! 🔥👽
There’s been a lot of growth this week, including some of the first pistils on both gorilla cookies. Feeling good today 🙂
I changed the light schedule to 20/4 from 18/6 this week as well as swapping the fish mix for biobizz grow. I’m using it at the same rate as the fish mix (2ml/L) while also introducing a little bit of biobizz bloom (0.5ml/L) to the solution.
The root juice and cal mag have stayed at the same dosage as last week but I’ll be cutting out the root juice completely and increasing the cal mag in increments from next week.
Thanks for stopping by 👌🍻👽
Hope you pop in again! 🍀stay lit 🔥!
This week has been good, apart from the ridiculously leggy stretch both gorilla cookies have been through.. I’ll probably need to find a way to increase the height of the lamp somehow.. 🤔
Lots of little budlets are starting to form now so I decided to give it a mild defoliation to expose more bud sites. This is supposed to be done just before switching to flower but I kinda forgot.. Better late than never I say.
The feed has had a few changes as well including more biobizz products and changes to dosage all of which you can see in the nutrients section above🙂
Thanks for stopping by and hope you pop in again sometime. Peace ✌️
This week both gorilla cookie plants have grown taller again and are covered in little bud sites. I think they’re maxed out for height now 🤞
I had to reposition the ventilation to make way to put the light higher. I’m not sure how yet but I think I can get it higher if I have to.
I didn’t really anticipate how tall these would get. If there’s a next time with this strain I will probably only grow 2 in the tent at a time and bend them under the net properly.. or use smaller pots and grow 4 again!
As for the feed, only slight adjustments have been made to dosage which you can see in the nutrient section above.
I’ll be cutting out the biobizz grow from next week and increasing the bloom nutrients hopefully if everything continues to go smoothly.
The solution is still being temp adjusted with boiling water as my tap water is currently 7C which is lovely to drink for me but not the plants hah. I’m still adjusting the ph to 6.2 and will continue to do so unless I run into any problems.
The eco tube heater I’m using which only cost £25 on Amazon is doing a great job of keeping the root zone warm while evenly distributing heat from its tube shaped surface. No complaints there! It’s also water proof and has a thermostat 💪😏
Worth checking out.
Phew that’s it for now, happy growing and stay lit 🔥 🔥🔥😶🌫️
The plants seem to be filling out a bit. I lightly defoliated again to help with ventilation and humidity.
The buds are starting to get bigger for sure but both gorilla cookies are completely different in appearance and smell from each other. Different phenos maybe? Or could it be a packaging mistake on behalf of fast buds? Who knows!
Anyway, I noticed some brown spots on a couple of leaves.. so first thing I did was check the PH of run off.
It was 5.8! Which is not ideal.. because a ph that doesn’t land between 6.0-7.0 when growing in soil will cause nutrient lockout.
I’ve concluded that the plants took in less nitrogen after defoliation, leaving some behind in the soil. Which in turn lowered the ph in the soil. Or I gave them too much! Whatever never mind!
Solution: flush with plain water at 22C ph’d to 6.5. (Soaked soil to run off, waited 15mins, then poured same amount of water through again)
One thing I am quite impressed with about these plants is how well they are taking being so close to the light. Very resilient indeed.
That’s all for now, peace ✌️
They’re doing great. Flowers are starting to take shape and there hasn’t been any new spots since flushing.
I’ve increased the nutrients, boosters etc which can be seen in the nutrient section above. PH is landing on 6.6 after adding everything so I haven’t bothered adding any ph up/down this week.
The foliage is getting a bit thicker now, which is a bit of a problem at this stage. The humidity has been high and the light isn’t reaching far into the canopy.. I don’t want to shock the plants at this point either so I’m a bit stuck! My solution right now has been to just crank up the extraction fan and it seems to be ok now.
🤓
The smell! Wow.. Also, these ladies are starting to put on some weight. Strangely though, the back to the future #2 from tastebudzseeds hardly has any smell whatsoever!!
Most of the remaining top fan leaves on one of these ladies have started fading sooner than the rest. I think it’s down to how close it is to the light and the intensity of light that’s hitting those parts of the plant. I’m just gonna let them do they’re thing as it’s nearing to flush time soon anyway.
That is all for this week. Thank you for stopping by! ✌️🔥
They just been doing they’re thing.
I’m quite happy with the progress.
I’m going to flush them next week and feed them ph’d (6.5) plain water for the next week or two.
Thanks for stopping by ✌️
I took a bit of a risk and I gave them a heavy ish defoliation to try and get more light to lower parts and increase ventilation. I also repositioned the plants and added supports to some of the weaker branches.
I flushed them and am now giving plain ph’d water until harvest. (6.5-6.7)
I might add some microbial life approximately 10 days before harvest as they don’t contain any nutrients and should help to break down any remaining nutrients left in the soil. Apparently they also make your plants more productive as well so that’s a bonus.
I’m well aware that the back to the future #2 by tastebudzseeds is behind in terms of flower but at this stage I’m inclined to harvest altogether as I’ll be using the grow tent as a drying tent after chopping.
Pretty much 70-80% of the pistils on both gorilla cookies have turned amber and a lot of trichomes are either cloudy or turning cloudy.
This being my first auto grow I feel like I’ve learned a little bit about how they grow and can take that onto my next grow.
As they say;
you are never done learning.
That’s all for this week ✌️
Good week.
GC2 is pretty much ready to harvest, with a few clear trichomes still remaining she should be ideal by next week. She faded out much quicker than GC1 and doesn’t have a lot of functioning leaves left so I’ve redirected the light more towards GC1 for the rest of the cycle.
GC1 is fattening up nice and oh my days she has covered herself in beautiful frost and has started to fade out from top down. I’m hoping to see her lose her healthy green colour by next week ready for harvest.
As you can also see, BTTF#2 from tastebudzseeds had made half decent progress too (front left of tent) but this diary is not about that so we won’t go into any detail.
I fed with conditioned water (conditioned with ecothrive neutralise)
And mixed in 5g/10L of instant microbe tea (ecothrive biosys). And as always the solution was ph adjusted and in this case I adjusted to 6.8.
Just one or two more plain conditioned and ph’d waterings and they’ll be having the chop
What can I say, I stunted them a bit but over all I managed to scrape a decent harvest out of these girls. I will definitely grow autos again but maybe next time I won’t stress them so much because waiting all that extra time kinda made me wish I grew photos!
They grew a lot taller than I expected too it kinda caught me off guard I had to keep putting the light higher haha.
Both gorilla cookies from FastBuds are pretty nice but the buds look, smell and taste different so I’m not sure which is a better representation of the strain. The high is great with both as well as taste and smell!
The back to the future from tastebudzseeds was lacking in bud and harvested the least of all plants despite having a shorter flower time. However the smoke is nice and has a lovely aroma and taste as well as an all body relaxing high.
The harvest:
Gorilla cookies 1:
59g dry
Gorilla cookies 2:
82g dry
Back to the future #2: 31g dry
Larf:
25g Larf
Total dry: 197g
(about 6oz of bud and 1oz of larf)
The plants were chopped and hung to dry for 7 days before being trimmed and put in jars to cure. I’m also using boveda humidity packs for this cure as they are quite highly praised and worth the extra pennies from what I can see.
All of my comments are based on what it’s like before curing btw so I can only imagine I’ll be in for a treat when it’s properly finished.
I’ll update with bud shots when the cure is finished.
✌️✌️
