@simps, I grew up in Iowa (looks like you are in a surrounding state), and that ditch weed is thick everywhere in the midwest. Gonna be hard to pinpoint without trespassing. Wonder if that could be the culprit? Either way if you get seeds toss them. You'll end up with a half ass plant and waste money on it. Edit: I confirmed, yes ditch weed can pollinate your plants! I'd try to locate the grove and machete it to prevent it from screwing you next year. They like to grow on the edge of wood lines in my experience and even in ditches hence where it gets its name.
