Hello. This is the beginning of Sleepy Joe.
That soak water looks awful I said to myself. But it has 2 cups of filtered water with 4 drops of 29% Hydrogen Peroxide. On my bamboo stir stick I dipped it into the cloning cell twice and stirred in. While stirring I added a pinch of Cinnamon and mixed a minute more. This is all to stop (I can't remember the name) the fungus that attacks the new seedling and stops it when it first pops. It sticks out it's new white rootlet and stops growing. You go Ahhh!!! you know the feeling. It's either a old seed or this fungus has set in and stopped growth.
So I soaked them for 26 hours (I forgot to check them before supper) and then put them on the paper towel in a clean plastic food container. I like to have holes in the top so the seeds can feel some water movement in evaporation. I put a folded paper towel down first and then a 2 times folded paper towel on that. Close the towels and pour the same soak water on top of that. In the pictures I showed how much water should be at the corner of the tipped container. You want the seed to get a good amount of air above the water line but be surrounded by the wet paper towel.
From here I closed the lid and put the container on the shelf I put in the clone/seedling cupboard. It doesn't need light so I put a rag on top and a straw to leave the air holes open for air movement.
The lights are on 18/6 and I think the seeds feel that and get use to the cycle.
I checked after 24 hours and found they had all popped. So I got the peat pellets soaking over night. The next morning I made up the pots. I like long thin peat pellets so I roll them until I get them longer and thinner. Put 2 holes or more in the bottom of the pot. You need drainage, more holes is better. Make sure to cut a hole in the bottom of the peat pellet netting so the root can grow straight down and not get to curled up too soon. The plant can grow stunted or not grow very well if the root can't get out of the netting around the peat pellet.
When putting the seedlings in the peat don't go much deeper than your finger nail. But this can lead to tall seedlings but I don't mind. I have made up seedling holders out of copper. But if you don't want tall seedlings you have to wait till the roots have a longer rootlet up to 1/2 inch then put them soil but you have to be extra careful not to hurt the white root.
Push a bit of peat around the seedling but don't push down. Use the water to take out any air bubbles that might be around the seedling. Don't spray so hard you move the seedling in the soil. Water around the peat pellet until you have water coming out the bottom. After 3 days give a bit of water just to keep the peat damp.
Place the pots where the seedling can feel the routine of lights coming on and off. Of heating up and cooling down of the soil. If you don't see anything coming up after 4 or 5 days I dig down carefully to see what is going on. Sometimes the root get going in the wrong direction. Or it runs out of energy and needs some light on the base of the root. A couple of times I've had to pull the seedling right out and get the shell off and place the root tip back in the soil and put a 1/2 shell over it. This gives the seedling a bit of light to make some energy from photosynthesis. Some times it works some times it doesn't. You need to be really careful when taking off the shell too.
I don't give any food till the first set of true leaves come out. and then only 1/2 strength.
And that's where we are today. Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of veg.
The plants all have their first leaves out so I can start with low doses of food. I also use Miracle Grow shake and feed in veg. It has all sorts of micro and macro and organic nutrient's in it.
In our local Under Ground paper I saw these adds and articles and thought you might enjoy them.

Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of veg.
I had some one say on my Nova OG diary that Anesia Seeds ripped him off of the money he sent and deleted his account and are ignoring his emails. Maybe think twice about ordering from their web site and get their stuff from a known seed bank. I get my seeds from Sensible Seeds. I got 32 free seeds with my 31 seed order. Good seed bank. Check them out.
The seeds are growing well this week and will be going in the tent where Sweet Zenzation is in now in a few weeks.
Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of veg.
Plant are growing well. I've had a bad outbreak of fungus gnats in the grow room right next to this clone/seedling cupboard. So I have been spraying Raid in here to knock down the gnats.
Funny I can go for years with no problems and then something changes that I don't notice like a little fly gets in and lays eggs.
All you can do is your best and then carry on.
Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of veg. The strain description is at the start of this diary if you want to read it.
I got the plants into the tent and repotted them in 15 liter pots. I started training as well with a topping. I use sulphur on most plant cuts and breaks. You can see it in some pictures. In a few weeks when I look at some leaves that I had got some sulphur on and my first thought is, is that powdery mildew. Gets me almost every time, still.😏
The plants are still to young to do a decent rub test on them. You know, you rub the top stem and top fan leaf stems and then put your fingers together and see if they are sticky and then smell them for a good hint of what the plant will smell/taste like when it's done. You don't get much smell before week 8.
Another tip: if you take a small clean rag and put some vodka on it you can clean your fingers of the resin and then put the rag up to your nose and take a couple of breaths to clean you smell pallet. Discard that small rag and use a clean one for the next plant. You can go through a large amount of seedlings and just pick out the best, meaning the most sticky and the most smelly and toss the rest with confidence that you got the best of the lot. When I was young we used this trick to get the best seedlings for our deep woods grow.

Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of veg. Go to the beginning of the diary if you want to read the breeders strain description.
The plant are looking good. They have gotten over their topping and repotting stress and are speeding into heavy veg stage now.
Lots of new growth and stock stretching to fit their new pot now.
I'll let them grow for now and will think about starting training next week.
I was in the tent watering and I stood up to go get some more water and when I returned to water some more there was a good sized spider right where my feet had been. I guess it had ran there before I stood up and I squished it when I stood up. I felt bad to have a good pest eater in the tent and I killed it accidentally. 😞 I think spiders are very smart and can see very well but they have no sense of danger sometimes. Like I'm cutting a large piece of plywood on my table saw and the spider is traveling over the wood right at the spinning saw blade. I mean can't you see it and know not to go there?? Stupid spiders! It was called a Wolf Spider and the big ones, you can hear them running across the basement floor sometimes. I like that they are patrolling the basement and eating the small wood eating bugs that I don't want in my house.😁

Hello. This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of veg.
The plant are looking good and are growing well.
Nice wide dark green leaves and a sort of lemony fruity smell on the fingers with the rub test.
Last week I talked about a spider I accidently stepped on. I went to water this week and saw a even bigger spider in the tent this week. It was a female Wolf Spider. The males have longer legs and their bodies are smaller. Good luck hunting my spider friend.
Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 7 and the beginning of week 8 of flowering.
I got around to do some training on the plants. When I topped them I left 6 or 8 branches on the bottom of the stock to train with. I pulled each branch down and held them in place with copper wire. I like copper because it doesn't rust. Plant #1 Split at the top and I put sulphur on it and it will heal up just fine. Plant #3, I thought I had softened up the branch with my fingers before pulling in over but it pulled away and was holding on by 1/2. Again I put some sulphur on the break and I see the leaves look fine today, they have turned towards the light and the branch will heal.
So I'll wait a couple of weeks now for the plants to heal and start growing up and I still have to take cuttings to make clones with.
We shall see then. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of veg.
I think this is the last week of veg and I will turn over to flowering next week.
I still have to do some more training and take clones of this strain. I usually take 3 clones of each plant.
Tried to put a deflector on the humidifier to direct the warm air up and not blowing on the plant.
OK That's all for now.

Hello. This is the end of week 9 of veg and week 1 of flowering.
After being pulled down 2 weeks ago the plants have healed and have started turning their tops up. About 4 days before now, I went in and tied up the branches so the 2 opposite branches are being pulled towards each other and they are being held down by copper along the pot edge. So there is a cross of string across the center of the plant. Sometimes this is enough to hold them up to the end and sometimes it isn't and I'll break out the tomato cages.
Everyone gets a good drink tonight and I'll put some silicate in the pot for stronger branches for the stretch that is coming up in the next 3 weeks.
I just finished the Nova OG a few weeks ago and that is crossed with Obama Kush for this Sleepy Joe and I can smell the difference already.
This strain is supposed to have a taste and smell of fresh strawberries and lemon juice. Yum - can't wait.
In about 2 1/2 weeks I give the plants a final trimming and LST.
Have fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of flowering.
Everything is going well in here. I see some of the ties I made a few weeks ago are loose now with some slack in the middle.
Gave everybody 1.5 gallons of water last night with only a small amount of overflow in the trays. I'll wait till I can hardly feel any moisture before I give food next time.
I see the branches are setting themselves up for bud development. I can see some white stigmas in some of the closer photos.
I'll leave them alone this week and I'll go in the next and do my last trimming and LST then.
Thanks Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week2 and the beginning of week 3 of flowering
Things were quite this week. Just feed them once.
I can see the stretch happening now. There are some tall branches pushing up in the back of the tent, plants #2 and #5.
I an see the buds sites developing now with more flowering action going on.
Most of the time my clone making is in the 90% to 95% percent range. But every once and awhile most of the clones fail. I don't know what I do wrong to those clippings, and it happened again. I'll have to retake clones of these plants this week when I do the final trim/prune. Although I'm very experienced I still make mistakes.😏 Oh Well.
Have Fun. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of flowering.
Looks like plant #2 has problems. It is the fastest stretching since flowering and closest to the lights. I don't know? It gets the same food and water as the rest of the plants and they seem to be doing fine. I don't care for finicky plants and this one might go. I'll watch it this week and decide later.
As you can see on some of the close up shots that the resin is starting to kick in. Most of the plants have slippery resin.
I can smell more of a musky/hindu kush type of smell than the strawberries and lemon juice that the breeders description said. Still a few weeks to go before harvest and sometimes the smell changes.
I took more clones and they seem to be doing better than the ones before.
Till then. Chuck.

Hello. this is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of flowering.
Everything is going well this week in this tent. The buds are getting bigger and the resin is kicking in now.
I just finished the Nova OG last diary and these plants smell more like the Obama Kush than the Nova. Smelly but not overly stinky. I can smell the strawberries and lemon on plant #3.
Still getting some brown leaves. Must have mess up on the food schedule some how.

Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of flowering.
I gave a little extra food to see if that was the cause of the brown leaves and I think that was what happened. Somehow they got just water for a few times in a row and were just hungry.
This strain description says 8 to 9 weeks of flowering but I like to grow everything to 10 weeks, so still another month to go.
Plant are looking good. The plants are producing resin now. You can see it in every close up shot.
That's all for now. Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 6 and the beginning of week 7 of flowering.
The weather sure isn't behaving like summer. Heavy rains, cloudy and wind has been the weather this last week.
Good thing these plants are inside, eh.
Some of the branches are starting to lean. I'll keep an eye on them. If they lean too much I'll put in a tomato cage to tie them to. We'll see.
Except for some browning leaves (which was probably my fault) Everything is going good here.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 7 and the beginning of week 8 of flowering.
This basement bedroom is finally heating up after a long winter and a cold long spring. With the light and the dehumidifier in the tent these plant are having some heat issues. I meant to go out the window with my exhaust fan but it turned -8*c and it never happened and I got comfortable with what I had and it was working up to now. I'm going to have to finish the exhaust this week. So I think I'll start the flush now and go for 2 weeks. and harvest after 9 weeks because of the heat that is coming.
I attended a conference in Victoria B.C. the last couple of days. They offered a Grow at home workshop for $80 can. on the Wednesday. These pictures were from Tuesday when I went down for the expo and exhibitor's tables and booths. This is some of the free stuff that was offered.
I showed the program for you to read. They are having another one in September 12-14 in Niagara Falls.
That's it for now. Chuck.
Hello This is the end of week 8 and the beginning of week 9 of flowering.
This is the second week of flushing. Sure getting a lot of yellow leaves. It shows that all the food in the pots are used up and the plant is drawing from the leaves to keep the flowers going as long as possible. Some of these buds are smelling a little sour, But Plant #3 is smelling sweet, like sweet fruit. Yum.
O.K. Back next week with some final pics before a couple of days of dark and then harvest.
Thanks for looking in. Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of Sleepy Joe. Let grow to 9 weeks of flowering.
I'll be harvesting after a couple of days of dark for these plants.
I like to cure my buds in paper bags for 7 to 10 days, and then they're done and can be put into jars and I don't have to burp them daily for 6 months and you get great taste too.. The ethaline that leaks from the drying buds cancels the bitterness of the coprophil and traps the terpenes. Example: if you put a ripe banana in a paper bag with some green tomato's and close the bag and leave for 5 to 7 days you get ripe tomato's. The trapped ethaline from the banana helped to ripen the tomato's faster. Please don't put a banana in with your buds, but I think you get the point. Please try a bag and compare the results with the other method you cure with. Remember to hang to hang the bag so you don't get mold. and only put about 3 inches of buds in each bag. Check the bags after 7 days but you might have to rehang if the buds are dense and not fully dried yet.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the harvest report for Sleepy Joe by Anesia Seeds.
5 out of 5 seeds sprouted.
The plant grew well with no problems but the one I made.
I forgot to give food for a few times in a row so the plant started to eat itself (fan leaves turning yellow early) earlier than it should have. Oh well, I made a mistake.
The plants produced well. But probably could have done better had it not been for my mistake and the fungus gnats.
Only one plant smelled of strawberries or lemon juice. the rest smelled sweet and sour with a funky, dank kush pallet.
These plants aren't quite as strong as I would have liked. The strongest plant, #3 has about 22% THC. with high CBD that help make you sleepy after a while. They all taste good.
Yes I would recommend this strain to a friend that needs help with his sleeping. And it has a bit of couch lock too.
A nice strain. Glad I tried it.
Chuck.
Hello.
I've finished, cured and put away the Sleepy Joe.
It didn't have the strength I was hoping for but it is still nice to smoke. It gets you couch locked and sleepy so before bed stuff.

Beware of ANESIA guys—-i’m in EU, bought imperium x & blackberry moonrocks directly from them and received nothing! Stopped communication & ran away with my money! They even deleted my profile on their account which I made to buy the seeds. I’ve all emails showing that i’m telling the truth.
@GODSGIFT_2005_JM, Hello. Sorry to here of your problems. This is the first I've heard about them being dicks. I like to buy my seeds from a good seed bank. I usually us Sensible Seeds and was not pleased with OA Seeds but I eventually got my seeds. Last time I ordered from Sensible Seeds I got the 31 seeds I payed for and I got 32 free seeds with the order. The free seeds I got were -12 Buford OG reg by Rare Dankness and 20- 11 Roses fem by Delicious Seeds. I've heard lately about Expert seeds doing the same to a couple of people. seedfinder.eu has a page you can complain that a lot of people see. I think it's on the -seed police- page Good Luck. Chuck.
@Growkemon, Hello. Yes, The strain I found that is a bit more couch-lock than this one, is, Mt Blanc by T.H.Seeds. If I smoke it in the morning, I'm fighting to stay awake by 1 pm. It's got a nice head high to start with but soon it's,... like... I don't want to do anything but watch TV or go to sleep. The buds weren't as tight as some strains but it tasted good. Nice fresh taste. A good place to go to do research is seedfinder.eu Find search and type in couch-lock and check the "in description" box too. You should find lots that say that in their description. Once you've searched, the ones with the green arrows on the right are the best. Hope that helps. Chuck.
@@Teh_Saccade, I got some new lights and I'm still learning how t use them for what I need. I used fluorescents for clones and seedlings for about 25 years. It's been hard to find the 3 foot grow lights and the ballasts were 25 years old so I got the TS 600 Mars Hydro for the cupboard. But it doesn't have a dimmer. It's a small light so I hung it up as high as I could just under 3 feet. Once cloned, the plants love the light but it's too intense for the little cuttings with the plastic cover on them. I wonder if it intensified the light. The cuttings seem burnt. So this is the 4th try and I hung some white plastic just below the light to try to reflect some of the intenseness of the light. So far the clippings aren't drooping as fast as the last couple of times and seem happier. I think that was the problem - fingers crossed. Chuck.
