2/28 (2100-2330): fussing with the tent while the seeds sat on the paper towels. Scuffed them up a little first with a sandpaper tube and a light shake. Humidifier from CVS was totally ineffective, could barely break 35% RH at 20C - should have expected this. New one on the way. Also, apologies to my American countrymen for the celsius - can't figure out how to switch my temp thing so this is how we're rolling. After I got the tent ready for seedlings, I shut off the light and moved the tupperware with seeds in with the heater. Still trying to balance heat and fan, but I think it's a nice sprouting environment in the tub all the same. 3/1 (0630): pretty warm and dry in the tent, 28.7C at 19%RH, but the tub has a nice greenhouse effect going. Turned down the heater, turned up the exhaust. Paper towels had dried a bit, so I re-moistened. No taproots yet but the seeds are noticeably darker. (Taking care not to handle seeds, just move the towels.) 3/1 (0840): tent stable at 25.0C and 20%RH 3/1 (1130): tent stable btwn 23-25C/~20% and towel damp. 3/1 (1510): Peeked at the babies and one has a teeny weeny taproot tip sticking out, one is cracked open, one is still solid. Going to do my best to keep my nose out of the grow tent until much later tonight. 3/2 (0730): My patience was rewarded with a trio of taproot tadpoles. Gonna let them chug along thru the day while I wait for Amazon to drop off the last of my essentials (humidifier, pH adjust, etc). Planning to pop these lil ladies in some soil tonight. 3/2 (1000): lol jk, taproots continued to grow so I fired up the grow light and plopped em in some dirt. Here we go!! 🌱🌱🌱 3/3 (0810): I'm an idiot, y'all. Ruined a seed last night because I got impatient and started messing with the soil. Plus I think my soil was way too moist when I transplanted the seeds yesterday. So, when I found the ill-fated seed, it hadn't grown any more taproot and appeared dark and waterlogged. Not realizing it was the seed, I damaged the thing and the rest is history. Restarted another one in a glass of water, will transfer to paper towel this afternoon, shouldn't be a huge problem since it'll only be about 48hrs difference. Saying prayers for the two planted seeds, no sign of sprouts yet. In other news, the rest of my growing gear came from Amazon and I'm fairly impressed with the humidifier. Can get the tent to ~75F/90%RH with ease, so I've been working on balancing tent inputs to create a stable environment. Also, found the C/F switch on my hygrometer so we're back to cowboy measurements. Yeehaw. Overall, I'm realizing that there's a lot of moving parts that go into creating a happy grow tent. It's tough to balance without any living plants to tell me if they're happy, so I feel like I'm flying on instruments until the seeds pop. Focus for the rest of the week is patience: I think I'm going to cause more harm than good if I keep poking around in the tent. Need to learn how to let it be. 3/3 (1815): seed that was soaking had started to crack so I moved it to some soil. Back in with the other two. 3/3 (2030): spotted some green!! Phew 3/4 (0630): we got sprouts!! Had to help some helmets come off, think I should plant deeper next round. 3/5 (1230): afraid these babies might be a tad over-watered. Cotyledons are super droopy and dark green. Running the tent hot and dry to try and get them to perk up. ~80F/30%RH 3/6 (0000): poked holes in cups and they dried out nicely so restored the environment to 73-78F/70%RH. Leaves haven’t perked up all the way but I’m gonna be patient. Had to replace the cheap Amazon humidifier. Seeds came in from Attitude so I popped a Hindu Kush and a 710 Stilton freebie in some water to soak. Ended up with a good variety of seeds, I like this for the future. Plan is to let the CPs veg for longer and keep the two newbies short, then flower all at the same time. Hope I have enough space lol 3/6 (1650): Serrated leaves are starting to grow nicely and have been praying up all day - happy ladies!! New seeds still soaking. Have my light set to switch to 18/6 tonight (have been running 24hrs until now) on the basis of some stuff I read saying even seedlings don't need constant light. 3/6 (2330): Moved seeds from water to paper towels. 3/7(0930): Six bells and all quiet. Lil ladies seem happy after their night in the dark. 3/7 (2200): Hindu Kush and 710 Stilton had sprouted tails, so I planted them. Learned my lesson from last time and didn't wet the soil nearly as much.

I think my seedlings are over-watered, making them droopy and dark green. I moistened the soil prior to planting but haven’t watered since. Want to try and get the cotyledons to perk up a little. How can I do this?

They are going to die off and drop off soon enough anyways so dont worry about em. You can see the soil is still quite damp, so its likely the roots are not getting as much oxygen as they need, So unless u want to start poking pin holes in the cup to allow more air in, all you can do is wait for the soil to dry out on its own over the next few days and the plant will start growing when the oxygen levels around the roots go back up. The more perlite I seem to add to my seedling mix the better they seem to do, im up to about 50% perlite and 50% fine potting soil these days. U can also sorta gently squeeze the cup sides lightly to break up the soil a bit and allow some air in, but do it gently so u get small cracks in the soil surface, air doesnt need much space and u dont want to damage the roots, so softly is enough. And yeah, its what i do for mine when I over water em and the soil compacts a bit like that. Thats why i use more perlite in the mix now for their first container.

3/8 (0745): CP weedlings look super happy. Can see the next node starting to develop between the fan leaves! HK and 710 germinating away. 3/8 (1600): Horticultural charcoal was delivered yesterday so I did a little top dress on the seedlings. Gave a light watering too. 3/9 (0730): Second node is coming in quick! Seeds still germinating but expecting to see green tonight or tomorrow AM. 3/9 (2230): CP growing strong, expect the second set of leaves by EOD tomorrow. HK and 710 broke soil over the course of the evening and will be upright by tomorrow morning! Learned from some key mistakes: didn’t water as much, planted the seed deeper so the shell would come off. Feeling good!! 3/10 (1200): HK and 710 seedlings are making their way up today! Had to help the 710 out of the inner seed coating, which was holding the cotyledons together. Both seedlings are open and getting sunlight, everyone's very happy. Both CPs are growing their second node quickly. 3/10 (2245): watered CPs. PH 6.4 going in and 7.1 coming out. Have been misting the HK/710 as needed. 3/12 (0900): watered/misted all. PH. 6.2 going in and 6.4 coming out. Much better. CPs are filling out their 3-bangers and have the start of growth for the fives. Ordered some smart plugs yesterday in the hopes of automating environment control a little.

3/14 (0900): All’s well in the garden! CPs grew their 3-point leaves over the past 48ish hours, 5-points are coming in even more quickly. Expect I’ll need to transplant them by the end of this week. HK and 710 are happy lil weedlings, can probably go another week or two in the cups. Overall, things are running super smoothly. Can’t wait to get the automated enviro setup! 3/14 (1200): Starting to increase lighting up to full veg strength. Previously ~270umol, increased to 330umol for CP seedlings. HK/710 are off to the side under 270umol lighting. 3/16 (1330): on the advice of a very wise grower, I’ve been focusing more on maintaining the right VPD in the tent and I think it’s helping to speed growth along nicely. Avg VPD is .75, hard to get it much lower without making it sapping heat from the tent. Turned down exhaust fan a bit to try and stabilize things. Also, watered today. 3/16 (2200): Increasing the light a few days ago was definitely the wrong move. Leaves have started curling inward more throughout the day and I know it's not because they're dry. Now that I think of it, some of the random light spots on the leaves do kinda look like light burn. Additionally I've been concerned with how closely the new nodes are stacking, it's looking a little overcrowded. VPD has been hanging around .7 so I know it's not that slowing down growth. Raised the light to 20in above "canopy" and dialed back output to 230umol. Going to start low and see if I can't get them to stretch a little. Fingers crossed. 3/17 (0830): Happy St. Paddy's Day!! Lights were on when I woke up and, maybe I'm still baked from last night, but the plants seem happier with less light. Was doing some reading on Photone's website about DLI, realized I'd been giving the ladies nearly 23mol/m2/day whereas their demand at this stage is only 16mol/m2/day. Something tells me my light has been a bit too strong since day 1, so I'm making a mental note for next time. Photone has great DLI calculator that allows you to determine cannabis's light need by week. I think less light from the start will help to get that super speedy Week 1-2 growth I see from a lot of pros. Uploading a few pics this morning so we can do a comparison later today. 3/17 (1900): atmosphere and lighting changes have gone a long way towards getting these ladies moving again. Top growth continues and lower nodes are starting to sprout. Love seeing happy plants!! 3/18 (1050): Well, it's Day 14 since sprout for the CP gals and they're growing away nicely. Top growth continues, lower nodes continue, all is well. HK and 710 are happy as well, true leaves developing nicely with 3-pointers on the way. Only concern is some wind burn on the outside of one CP, just on a few leaves in particular. Set up a wind break for the fan, hopefully that helps. 3/18 (2030): Was looking at my plants this evening (as I often do) and happened to notice (when I dropped one of the cups - oops - only lost some soil off the top) that there were roots poking out the holes in the cups! So I decided it was time to transplant the CP gals. Had been worried that it was too early given the upper growth, but I was pleased to see the roots starting to circle at the bottom of the cup. AFAIK that means it's time! Had a slight mishap with one of the girls (same one I dropped) and a little soil fell off the top again as I was putting her in the new pot. She was a little unstable but I shored her up and she doesn't even need a prop! Didn't hear any roots ripping so I think its all good. Of course, made sure to coat the hole with some Dynomyco. Heard that stuff works crazy good. Gave a light watering of PH 6.5ish just to get the new soil settled (cups were still fairly damp when I transplanted) - about 2 cups per plant. Adjusted the lights up but still at about 16 DLI (babies are on the side at 12). Pray for the candyland peyote, yall!! These will be final homes. 3/19 (0945): Everyone's looking happy in the tent. Update pics tonight since I want to give them time to grow, but I think the transplant was successful. Growth continues on lower nodes and tops, leaves are praying up. Happy happy.

3/21 (1930): Well well well, folks, we've made it to the official start of week 3. Plants doubled their height over the last week and added a bunch of new leaves. I think I was over-lighting the Candyland Peyote gals because the 5-point leaves only came out with 4 or 3. Lights are less intense now, in the range of 200umol and things seem much happier. Growth has exploded in the lower nodes over the past few days and, even though top growth has slowed a little, I'm taking that as a sign that these plants are healthy and doing their thing. Hell, thinking I might even top them in a few days if they get to 5 nodes. Already thinking in advance that I may top at the 4th node just so the plant isn't relying only on light-stunted leaves. HK and 710 seedlings are doing great, already working on their second set of true leaves. They've gotten much less light through the process, so they don't look as ragged as CP, but I also think the genetics are just better. CP is super super hybridized while Hindu Kush is basically a landrace and I believe 710 Cheese is based on some fairly based genetics as well. Makes sense that the super hybrid might be a little more unstable/sensitive. Just fun things to think about while I breathe CO2 on my plants lol. 3/22 (1000): It had been about 4 days since watering (since transplant, really) and the pots were feeling light, so I knew I had to water. Out of curiosity I had been thinking about starting a light run of nutes just to see what the effect would be. Did some reading about TDS for early veg and realized that the runoff I was getting with plain water was already way out of the park (like 1900ppm). Probably due to FFOF being so hot (and the soil being very fresh). Did a couple flushes try and bring it down but could only get to like 1300ppm. Good enough I suppose, hope I didn't drown the gals in the process. Running things a little more hot and dry in the tent today so they're forced to drink thru the roots more. 3/22 (1640): Candyland gals are just fine after this morning's flush! No point to this update except I'm burning one before I get ready for class and had some thoughts. (1) Really interesting how the fabric pots contribute to the tent's humidity when they're wet. I've had the humidifier turned off all day and the tent is stable at 75%RH no problem. (2) Nature is so fucking genius sometimes!! I've been a little worried because it felt like top growth had stalled on the Candyland gals, but I've been watching the lower nodes grow out a lot over the past few days and realizing that the plants are creating more photoreceptors to pick up the light they're missing. No need to grow on top when you can get more energy by growing wide!! Peeked in from the top and saw how the new node leaves were filling out the gaps - absolutely genius. (3) I think my favorite moment of growing so far was poking my head in the tent and realizing that the Candyland gals are starting to smell like weed!! The scent isn't pungent yet but when I get a good whiff it smells a little gassy and almost a little fruity. Maybe it's wishful thinking (I love fruit/gas terp profiles) but I would be so stoked if that's how the final plant came out. End of the day, I'm feeling more and more confident about the grow and feel like I'm settling into the process. 3/23 (1000): All seems generally well, one of the CP ladies is getting genuinely big and prob ready for a topping in a day or two. I'm a little more concerned with the other CP because it hasn't made any progress on top for the past few days. Dropped the lights even further (down to ~130umol) to see if we can't make the environment a little happier. 710 is absolutely killing the game, looks super happy. HK is a little behind but still seems okay. 3/24 (0930): The one smaller CP still looks bleachy and hasn't grown anything on top in days. Also I've been struggling with enviro control (what's new) but have a theory that I'm going to try. Bearing in mind that all lights create a micro-climate under them, and also that my LED fixture has turned out to be way more powerful than expected, I'm raising the lights up to maybe 3ft above the plants. PAR is dialed in around 130umol still but I think having the lights farther away will reduce the funky climate that's been forming on top of the plants. I can see how the environment I had before, with the lights so close up to the plants, was fairly constraining and not conducive to growth. All part of the learning process, I suppose. 3/25 (0930): Still very little top growth from the one CP (the other is living her best life) but the lower nodes were booming! Prob 1.5-2cm long at node 2. That's nice but that's really not what I want - those nodes are gonna come off anyway once I top/mainline. Especially if lower growth is inhibiting top growth (which in turn is delaying topping), there's no sense in letting it continue. So I took off nodes 1 and 2, leaving 3-5, and buried the stem (with some dynomyco) as high as it could go with the goal of getting some more root growth down there. My logic is: no lower nodes to grow, so the plant directs its growth hormones up the stem. Maybe? We'll see. I just want the 6th node to develop a little more on each so I can snip the stem comfortably without hitting the nodes. 3/25 (1530): Plants grew enough throughout the day that I was able to top! Used the top from the bushier CP to try and make a clone... even if it's small when I flip them all to flower, it's extra nug right? Thinking I'll give them a few days to recover before I start taking off more lower nodes, but I don't want them to waste too much more time growing them. 3/26 (0930): Everyone looks happy after yesterday's trim. Starting to increase light intensity little by little, currently at DLI 16. I could probably push the light harder but I'm still kinda shook after scorching them early on. Gonna go low and slow. 3/26 (1100): Really trying to direct growth up the stem so I trimmed another node off the bottom for each CP. Started LST for the bigger Candygal but the other one is still kinda narrow, so I'll let her grow out some more.

3/28 (0845): New week, who dis? Lol. Things seem happy in the tent. Gave all the ladies a watering today and the big girls got their first feeding! Super light doses since I know the soil is prob still packing some heat. Big girls seem to be adapting well to the LST and topping, nodes are starting to grow in quickly and the stem is turning a nice deep purple and green color. These ladies are gonna be colorful, I can tell. The smaller girls seem to be moving a little big more slowly but they look healthy so I'm not changing anything. 3/30 (1330): Been an interesting couple of days, y'all. The 710 seedling started looking real sad with some yellowing leaves at the bottom. Watered, but that didn't help. Moved it a warmer part of the tent, got it better light and some more airflow. Hope that helps. My one Candyland is looking awesome, really coming along nicely, but the other plants...not so much. Guess I'll chalk it up to a learning experience, take em all to flower if I can, try and do better next time around. Due to my own personal time constraints, I'm gonna have to flip them all at the same time. So if a few are smaller than the others, well, such is life. If I can get a QP or a half out of this round, I'll be happy. 4/2 (0800): Sheesh yall, the crisis has been ongoing. Ok, crisis is overstating it. 710 seedling continued to decline, started growing pistils, so I decided to cut the cup open and peek in on the roots. To my surprise, despite the substantial top growth, the roots never grew down into the cup. My theory is too much drainage, so the lower soil couldn't retain moisture. Did an emergency transplant to a 3gal and some strategic defoliation maybe 2 days ago. She's looking much better now, I think she'll pull out of it. Again, due to time I won't really be able to fully veg her. I've got maybe 25 more days of veg before I'm gonna have to flip to flower. I'm gonna do what I can do now and do it better the next time. The one big Candyland continues to thrive, has taken well to LST, got a couple nodes on her branches and I'm thinking about doing another round of topping since I have a few weeks and feel confident she'll flower well. I think the other Candyland got seriously light stunted as a seedling (my fault) and so is struggling to process more adult levels of light without taco leaves. She's growing a lot slower and, again, I'm just gonna have to take them all to flower and see what happens. Next time will be better!! That's the motto. Somewhat related note: got some KILLER seeds from Pandora's Grove by supporting a grow podcast's patreon ("Smoking With"). The strain is called "Zorak" and it's alleged to have a gas/chocolate/dark cherry terp profile. Saving those babies until I'm a little more competent. (See? It's all about the long game. I've got the rest of my life to grow dankies [especially with weed about to be legal federally? could it be true????]). Note: topped the big Candyland gal again at some point this week. Can't remember when. 3/31 maybe.

4/5 (0900): Honestly, y'all, last week was tough. Dealt with issues on a number of fronts, including root issues with the seedlings and heat stress in one of the CP girls. New growth was taco'd up all over. Thought it was light stress at first but after turning the lights down a ways she just got lankier and the leaves didn't flatten out. Tried changing temp next and that seemed to do the trick. Running things a little cooler in the tent now and she's responding well. Transplanted Hindu Kush to a 3gal pot because, idk, it just seemed like she needed it. Her growth had slowed down and she still doesn't have bud sites developing. Figured some more space and better aeration would help her get going. Both CPs have been mainlined - the lankier one today - and seem to be growing strong. Seedlings likely wont be too big at flip time, but I think CP will go into flower nicely. Oh! And the CPs have started showing pre-flowers. They're girls! Well, they should be since they're fem seeds! Loll.

4/11 (1115): It's been an interesting few days... topping and mainlining continues on the big Candyland, she currently has 8 tops and I might go for 16 if she keeps up the growth. Accidentally snapped the other CP yesterday, so she's down to one top but still surviving. Looks kinda like a Dr. Seuss plant lol. Will have to think about how to stabilize her for flower. The 710 Stilton seedling has recovered well enough and is putting out new nodes. Hindu Kush looks permanently stunted, gonna take her into flower but more just for the hell of it. I'll be surprised if we get even a pinner's worth of usable bud off her. Will need to analyze what went wrong for the next run. All in all, I'm excited about the big gal because I can tell she's gonna be a real winner. A proof of concept, as it were. Stay blessed, growmies - I continue to be humbled by this experience. Looking to flip to flower on or around 4/25. Interested to see what the next two weeks bring. 4/13 (1030): Watered the scraggly CP, trimmed and trained the other. Looks like 710 might actually be an auto because I think theres some resin formation on the leaves that happened overnight.... makes sense because I think 710 Stilton comes in both photo and auto. I bet someone at the seed bank mixed them up when they put my order together. Such is the risk of freebies I suppose. I'm gonna run in thru flower with the rest of my photos and see what happens. They say 12/12 isn't the best for yield in autos but I don't really have a choice at this point lol.

Looking good friend congratulations on a solid start to your first grow! Would you be alright with me offering you some generalized advice? You are doing a lot right in this one I want to make sure you know why so you keep up the good work! Cannabis plants love heat and humidity. It is the buds that hate it, In veg we can exploit this for much more vigorous faster growth. Generally, our seedling stage & young plant life stage are very slow, When our plants are small our roots are small as well. We speed this phase up with some humidity in the air for our leafs to do some foliar intake from. generally, in veg & early flower we want our temperature range to be 79-84 MAX with lights on & no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. It is important we keep our temperature gaps tight in veg & early flower if we allow for too much swing in temp more than 10 degrees less with lights off our plants stretch a lot which we do not want. For the first few weeks humidity up to 75% is great. If you haven't done so yet check out vapor pressure deficit and how it relates to growing cannabis. All growers should get used to using a VPD chart and logging their numbers daily. This is the best article & VPD chart to go off of. https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ Also, make sure to grab yourself a PAR meter & thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 64 MAX to better read your plant's needs and grow to them. These will also help you dial your lights in to optimal distance safely. Keep up the great work friend! I'd love your opinion on my 2 diaries, I have 1 completed a 200 light 7,000 plant diary & am just finishing off a flashback greenhouse grow I did last summer. I am currently producing a tutorial series for youtube for all growers to utilize. If that interests you hop over to my youtube and subscribe it is linked off my grow diaries profile. Happy growing friend!

@LegacyMarketFarm thank you so freakin much for all the sage advice. I made a note for myself to drop temps a little at night during flower. The candyland peyote is a particularly purple strain so I definitely want to bring that out before harvest. Btw, my wifi hygrometer came in and, lucky me, it shows VPD in the tent too. Makes balancing environment a lot easier. Plants look happier already! Thanks again sensei 🙏🙏

@twistandcrawl, In veg & early flower no not needed, The tighter the gaps in temps through these stages the more stacked our plants grow without unwanted stretch. Past weeks 4-6 of flower when our plants finish their vertical growth or when we see our autoflowers finish their vertical growth during their flower cycle, This does become important if we want to draw more desired traits out of our plants. You have to remember, Whether we are growing these plants to make seed or not, They do not know any different. These plants want to insure their reproduction happens and to do that, There are certain genetic instinctual responses programed into this plant to sense the ending of the season and do exactly what I just said. We can stimulate this in our indoor rooms by slowly beginning to widen the temp gaps to beyond 10 degrees less with lights off once our vertical growth has completed, Our plants are now focused on producing flower clusters to make seeds in and get covered in resin to allow pollen to stick to them better. If we stimulate these responses by simulating the ending of the season in our rooms we get a much nicer finished product. Our buds will be tighter and bigger and much more potent, The widening gap in temperature simulates the colder nights as the season ends, We can also use light deprivation in the last 2 weeks to simulate cloud cover and colder feed temps in the last week before pull down. I hope that helps you understand why this is important friend :)

@twistandcrawl, man thank you brother 🙏. I appreciate that....u know how in your own head u can get over your plants when there's noone but you around, can't show ppl to get opinions (except in here and EVERYONE'S an expert and their way is the only right way lol) so u stress over stuff that's probably not even a big deal....it's just cuz we care about our babies so much and want them to flourish is all....it still sucks when u can't get something to turn out the way they should....your mainline is A THOUSAND times cleaner than mine.

Don't trip on that light colored top growth bro, u gotta think that's the freshest part of your plant, it will darken up as time passes. Just remember if you have your light low turn your brightness way down. If you have it higher turn it up a bit so your plants don't stretch so much in early veg. All in on bro she looks beautiful you're doing great man. I can't wait till you're harvest to see how she turns out... There's only two strains that I don't have that I really want, all three for real including fruity pebbles OG but the true candyland from granddaddy purple genetics and I believe it's called Grandpa Larry or something and it's like a mix of candyland and Larry OG and granddaddy purple or something. Sounds amazing. My favorite strains are true can assess GDP and Kushman cut Strawberry Cough (which I don't know why it's called that Kyle Cushman didn't even breed it, I'm guessing it's because he was the only person in America you could get true clones from hence the"Kushman's CUT" idk though so don't quote me.) Another thing that I recently learned, especially if you use my Mykos, fill those Solo cups up to the base of your first node and that stem will grow roots the whole length of the stem. That is a proven fact and helps exponentially in growth. Keep on keeping on you going to be smoking loud in no time.

@twistandcrawl, yeah I actually just came across that filling up the pot with soil thing up to the bottom node. When dude pulled the plan up after he cut it down you could see it all the way up to stand bro I was like holy

@FullTankGardens thanks dude tbh I think I might top that part anyway... like tonight lol. Just want it to stretch a little more so I can cut the stem without hitting the nodes. Tbh my biggest problem this run has been too much light too early. Lights currently at 30" and 25%. Ladies are plenty thicc but I want them a little taller too. Also I took your advice and hit the stems with more dynomyco and soil. And yeah I'm pretty sure the Kushman cut is like, his pheno of that particular strain. Or cuts from his mother plant. Psyched for my Pandora's Grove seeds to come in, gonna save em until I'm a better grower lolol

Looking great bro nice transplant job too, I need to transplant my Barney's Farm mimosa x orange punch sometime this weekend at least by Monday if I get lazy LOL. They both had a real good tap Roots circling at the bottom that's good. Also if you're open for a tip during transplanting, VERY VERY LIGHTLY, massage the root ball working it loose a little bit so the roots are kind of loosened up and set it down in there so as soon as they're comfortable and moist again the next time they start drying out they'll really start reaching out and searching for moisture so they'll really get out into that new soil and you're set. All in all you're doing great man good job.
