4/21/22 - The two 5gals needed to be watered today, will again refer to them left to right as A, B, C. A - 1600ml B - 400ml C - 1600ml ph was 6.3, measured the runoff at 6.1 on A and 6.3 on C, so we should be good to bump ph back up to 6.5 moving forward. A was clearly in need of water, was drooping pretty badly. After watering and coming back to measure runoff it was visibly improved already. I'm seeing some crispy leaf tips on both 5gals, I believe that's an overload on nitrogen. Hoping they do okay after today's feeding, I plan to cut the Big Bloom in half next week, but will do some more reading on if I should skip that entirely moving forward. I think you're supposed to cut out nitrogen feeding entirely in late-flower so the plant can focus on buds, but the nitrogen deficiency from earlier needed to be addressed imo! Honestly was pretty surprised and pleased when I checked on them and they seemed to be responding well to the Epsom salts and nitrogen. The crisp tips are a cause for concern but will just continue to monitor. My biggest worry now is the fact that both 5gals have lost a significant amount of foliage; virtually all of the big fan leaves are gone now. Will do some reading up on that as well. They're all very light green too, again not entirely sure if that's supposed to happen in flowering. I've seen some pics of the same strain looking a lush dark green during flowering, so I don't think so... Lastly, seeing some of the stigmas turning amber, that's cool. Can also see the trichomes when zooming on the pics. Nice. 4/23/22 - Just a quick water on the 3gal, starting to droop so gave it a clean 800ml. Other two are fine and still moist. 4/26/22 - Did some watering, should have watered the 3gal yesterday, its in quite bad shape--worst I've seen for it. The stems are bent over and the leaves look very sickly, it hopefully just needs a boost from this water and it will spring back. That being said, it's still in pre-flower and at this point I don't know if it will ever move out of that stage, poor thing is just stunted. I'll keep at it of course but I plan to use the tent for drying out anything I'm able to harvest from the other two, so I may need to relocate it or compost it after a bit. Watered as follows: A - 1200ml B - 800ml C - 1200ml Straight water with a ph of about 6.3. Based on some comments I got earlier it may be time to just flush with straight water from here on out, we may be in the final weeks. If I do feed them at all I'll probably do strictly budding nutrients, but honestly it sounds like I should just do water at this point. All new leaf growth is looking good, still light green but not sickly yellow. I've trimmed those off so just have some smaller leaves growing in. Otherwise the two 5gals are looking pretty good, I can definitely see the benefits of LST and will for sure do that on the next grow. - Quick update a few hours later, little 3gal has perked back up, standing straight and leaves looking much better :) Just needed some water the poor girl

Help diagnosing: I believe it's a Magnesium and Nitrogen deficiency. Symptoms include a yellowing of leaves that's starting from the bottom of the plant and working upwards with brown spots, leaves are curling a bit now as well. Top leaves are a light green instead of deep green.

You will want to pick up a TDS pen to measure your EC of the feeding solution. If the EC is to high it affects the plant in a negative way. Autos are especially sensitive to this as well. growdiaries.com/journal/what-is-electric-conductivity-ec-and-total-dissolved-solids-tds good little read explaining the EC, some GD articles are bad this one is descent. https://www.autoflower.net/forums/threads/med-man-method-feeding-chart-ppm-ec.47856/ Good reference point for most auto growers. Still need to monitor the plant and look for signs of excess or deficient signs. It only works on total concentration not what its concentrated with. eg the ratios of grow + bloom + boosters/supplements Once you have this tool it will help you grow better. It is almost always a needed tool when using liquid nutrients unless you have used a product line for years and know what it does off by heart. Good Luck!

Trying to get a sense of when to start the harvest, I've read like 30-40% amber but also just when all the trichomes are cloudy, could use some assistance. Thank you! Grow diary week 11 has more pics for reference.

Yoo! I saved that picture and zoomed in. Not seeing much clear trikes and very few amber. Its up to you now. Experiment with it. If you want a larger level of body stone (higher CBN) which not many folks like because it makes you pass out cold sleepy instead of stimulating the mind then wait for more amber. Wait for that golden hue on the bud. Otherwise if you want peak thc potency just look for max clear trikes. I like to wait until its noticeable in an iphone picture that 15-20% of the trikes are amber.

Don't seem to be seeing amber trichomes yet, best practice to just stay the course until I can see some and then harvest? Majority of the pistils are orange and trichomes all seem to be pretty cloudy. Just looking to the community for some advice, don't want to harvest too early!

Not all strains produce amber trichomes. If your 100% cloudy and all the pistils have browned then it's ready. If not continue until they are. I harvested an auto northern lights about a week ago and that went 94 days before I chopped but would have benefitted another week really.

@Tropicannibis_Todd, appreciate it, thanks! I took a look at your NL and wow, very impressive. I'm afraid mine are stunted a bit so I'm just adjusting the environment and tweaking what I can. Treating this as a learning experience and will try to improve as time goes on. Take care.

Hey there nice looking little ladies! One bit of advice if it is okay, Cannabis plants love heat and humidity. The buds HATE it, Your temps are a little on the low side we generally want 79-84 MAX and no more than 9 degrees less with lights off. Too much of a swing in temperature will cause them too stretch we want to keep it at no more than 9 degrees less. We can utilize humidity to speed our plants along as well in veg for much more vigorous growth. To have a better understanding of how humidity plays a role in growing your plants check out this article on VPD, Vapor pressure deficit. This is the one I use to help new growers learn about it and use the chart they provide here on this article as well. https://cerescann.com/importance-of-measuring-vpd/ If you have not done so yet get yourself a thermal laser temp gun like the fluke 64 MAX and a PAR meter to better help read your plants needs and grow to them. This equipment will also help us dial in our plant top temps and set our lights to their optimal distance from the plants. We want to put our lights on pullys like the sun grip light pullys to adjust them better. If you ever have any questions please feel free to follow my profile & DM me anytime! If you would like to see how these methods impact plant growth very importantly early on check out our USA rep LegacyMarketFarmUSA and follow him as well!

@@rividium, Good question! I will find out when I begin my tent tutorial series, I am a retired legacy market commercial grower now making a company of my own. We are starting out with a tutorial series aimed at tent growers so this will be a learning experience for me using a tent for the first time!
rividium
rividiumcommented3 years ago
@LegacyMarketFarm, I have not tried that yet but will give it a shot. My light is LED so it doesn't get too hot but it definitely bumps the temperature up a few degrees. I struggle to break that 73F barrier regardless. Do you think its easier to heat or cool a tent? Depending on which I can move the tent upstairs into a warmer area, just concerned about it getting too hot in that case.

If you need advise with your yellow leave it may be the water quality , allowing the water you use to distille properly and minimize the nutrients + worm castings are amazing to mix in and also use on top soil, hope this helps you a bit , but try removing a few old decaying lower yellow leaves and see how the plant responds- check out my purple urkle if you got time dude , ☮️

rividiumcommented3 years ago
@CroNiCGman, Hey thanks man, that definitely could be causing some issues. I've mostly been using tap water and letting sit for about 24 hours before using. I just used filtered water today, so maybe I'll be able to notice any improvements from that. I'll jump in there and snip the dying leaves in just a bit, been trying to stay on top of that. I checked out your purple urkle and wow looks absolutely amazing. That's what I'm trying to go for; the deep healthy green leaves during the flowering stage. Once I hit that after about 4 weeks I started to get the yellowing issue. Appreciate your comment, thanks!
