You might be wondering about the towel around #3... they actually ALL have towels around them which I've soaked in water and keep wet constantly. The reason for this is that they are all in a tent with another lady I'm about to harvest (Tangerine Dream)... Since I need to keep the humidity down for my flowering lady, the soaked towels are to keep the humidity as high as possible around these little fledglings... Works a treat!

Little ladies are doing just fine. Can't measure the humidity around them as they're still co-habitating with a plant in flower but I keep the humidity around them individually with wet towels and they seem to be very happy... no issues!

#1 is going to be a monster.. #3's color is starting to improve and she's growing rapidly so I'm not worried about her at all. I'm excited about this strain and can't wait til harvest (omg, I'm laughing at myself already... it's only been 2 weeks since they popped and I already want to get to harvest!) Having trouble getting the humidity up to where I want it but I'm working that out now....

3 seeds, 3 different growths! #1 is going to be a monster... #2 has decided lime green is her favorite color... #3 is just a bit of a runt but defintely going to try to keep up! I had a problem with some lockout and ended up flushing all three this week. I fed #2 after the flush just because her color is so strange... we'll see if she can green up but she's not showing any weakness in the growth arena! I'm looking forward to this journey with all three.

I absolutely love growing autoflowers... and when they manage to achieve some consistency, EVERYBODY will be growing them. Right now, the consistency is just plain not there... but it's actually something I rather treasure about them - each plant tells me something different and I get to learn how to read them. At this point, they're all on a different water/feed schedule as well because there's no consistency in how fast they are ready for the next water/feed. As I tell everyone who will listen, each seed needs to be treated the way IT tells you it needs to be treated. Take this grow for example - all 3 seeds are from the same seed bank but all three are different - #1 is unbelievable at 14" just 4 weeks into the grow, #2 is a wimpy 9" but still putting up a strong performance and keeping right up with #1 as far as flowering goes... and then there's my lime green lady, #3... she comes in at 12.5" and has yet to get into full flower - but she's going to be a powerhouse, too as she has TONS of bud sites. I'm really loving this!

They're stretching beautifully now and the buds are developing really nicely. #3 persists in being lime green but she seems mighty healthy despite that horrid color and nothing I do greens her up so I've just accepted her as she is... Having to do some LST on them to spread them out and get the lower buds more light - I'm also concerned that if they stretch much more (which I think they will), they'll be getting too damn close to the lights - so, LST to the rescue! I have to say, from the shape of the leaves, this looks to be sativa dominant and my experience with Tangerine Dream has me more than concerned about potential height problems... but I solved that issue with the other grow so I'm prepared!

Ladies are starting to stack up nicely... getting a little too close to the light but there doesn't seem to be a problem with that... I'm going to let it go unless they get much taller!

The biggest issue this week is the temp... it's gotten very hot here all of a sudden and the temps in my tent were up over 90... so I've reversed my "winter schedule" of 24/7 lights and taken it back down to 18/6 with the lights off during the hottest part of the day - afternoons. I'm also opening up the tent wide during their lights out period to further help get the temps down and the humidity under control. I may actually take them outside to spend their days if I don't have any success getting the temps in the tent down - and I mean DOWN!! Ideally, I'd like to see them around 75degrees but even outside it's warmer than that however the breezes and the super low humidity we've got now would be a plus... Stay tuned!

I've got 3 pots going - the plant in the 5 gallon is MUCH taller than the others and taking much longer to fill out but there are many more bud sites on her and she's going to be magnificent. I've had to pull her away from the light but that was difficult as she's not that pliable any more... still, what I've done is helping all the other bud sites get lots more light. Plant #2 in a 3-gallon is the closest to harvest with nice, fat buds and lots of trichs - she's maybe got another 2-3 weeks. Plant #3 is, well, the runt of the family. She IS starting to bulk up but only just slightly. I find it fascinating that 3 seeds of the same strain from the same seedbank given the same treatment (except for the pot size) can be so wildly different... that is perhaps the inherent weakness of autoflowers... but I still love to grow them. I'll be harvesting these three ladies at different times which will be just fine by me... I hate being in trim jail!

The three plants are, oddly, in three different stages of "readiness" ... I'll probably be harvesting the first plant towards the end of this week unless she continues to bulk up ... in about 2-3 weeks, the second one will most likely be ready - followed by the third a week or 2 later. Very odd... but at least it will spread out my trim jail time! 5/29 - finally got a decent loupe to use and took a look at the trichomes.... omg! The first plant is ALMOST too late to harvest so she's come down and is drying. The loupe also confirmed my assessment of the other two - it's going to be another week or two for them...

These three seeds are a perfect example of why I tell everyone to treat each seed, each plant as an individual.... #1 is going into their cure jars today, #2 still has probably 2-3 weeks left and I'll take down #3 at the same time even though she's not fattening up a whole lot. Fascinating differences ... my mantra is that if they can ever get the genetics right with autoflowers, they'll beat photoperiods by a mile! Until then...

Nice strain to grow - it would be perfect if all three seeds performed the same but this was most likely due to my own errors.

So the three plants are wildly different in outcome... and the failures are all mine! We'll go with the saddest one first: it has only produced popcorn buds but plenty of them... they'll make nice pre-rolls and I'm not all that unhappy. The other two plants are fantastic... one was grown in a 3 gallon pot and finished in 9 weeks... harvested 1.5 oz from her absolutely LOADED with amber trichs. I'm now harvesting the last one that was grown in a 5 gallon pot - she was MUCH taller than the other two and had a LOT more bud sites and the buds are all wonderfully big and dense. I can't wait to see the final tally of dry weight... but that won't be for another week!

That's a good tip with the towels for the ambient moisture - I use this stuff called Oasis, which is a weird crumbly sponge substance, but a towel seems just as good and costs a lot less! 👍

@GrowingGrannie, Hi! The grow questions I usually close in 24 hours - I think I've asked about... A seed shell that was really thick, an auto strain that went a bit funny, the same auto that went funny again, and recently I hoped someone might help me with another auto in an Aerogrow thing that I burned by forgetting to put on the pump... These two I thought I would leave longer, as the seed companies of course don't want you to use seeds from plants you pollinate and it's good to get some answers about these things - all the grow questions are about fixing problems rather than "other; other" open questions about stuff like making autos :) I'll remember to close them, yes ma'am! :D

What's also interesting, grannie, is that the big plants in the big pots, from the same seeds in the same conditions that my buddy has - the ones in the big pots have the least developed roots..! The little pots have thick, full roots all over the place, but the big pots have very thin and much shorter root systems..! It must be as much to do with the watering and access to the underground world, as much as anything! :D
GrowingGrannie
GrowingGranniecommented3 years ago
@@Teh_Saccade, That's just plain WEIRD!!! It's counter-intuitive to say the least... you'd think, given more room to grow, the larger pot would have the most roots... Once I harvest these ladies, I'm definitely going to check out the root systems and will be back at you about it!
