Running this strain again because they flowers came out great last round, the high and taste are both great, and it was by far the frostiest I’ve ever grown. Stoked to give these genetics a proper run in the closet tent instead of the much harder to regulate environment in the attic tent. She germinated in 2 days in damp paper towels. Planted and sprouted a few days later. It’s in a 1g fabric pot with ffof with added perlite and mycorrhizae. Keeping the humidity high in the tent to help with the root development and encourage vigorous growth. This is going to be a primarily organic grow. If I need to fix any issues I’m not opposed to doing a bottle feed if necessary. I’m going to be using a lot of build a soil products this round. I had a lot of success with them last round and picked up a few new ones to play with, but most of that will come when we get closer to flower. I watered in some recharge when planting, gave plain pHd water to keep the medium moist, did a light dose of the BAS big 6 when the first true leaves developed, and hit it with some more recharge on the most recent watering. She’s sharing a tent with a Twenty20 The Spice plant. That one already seems like it’s going to be smaller/slower but I had a similar situation in this tent last round and it wasn’t the end of the world, it’s just something I’ll have to be conscious of.

Solid week of growth. She has just about 5 nodes so I’ll probably top her soon. I know she’s going to be a big stretcher and the other plant in the tent isn’t so I’ll have to really try to bush this one out. Nothing fancy this week in terms of nutrition, just pH’d dechlorinated tap water twice and a bit of recharge yesterday. She’s a bit droopy but it looked similar to this last round so I’m not too concerned for the time being. I’ve dialed the lights up to ~70% and don’t see any signs of light stress so I think we’ll keep it there until we flip to flower. This is where it starts to get fun, I’ll top her and probably start training so stay tuned for that next week.

This plant slowed down a bit this week. It’s showing some fade on the lower leaves so I started adding some cal mag to the waterings and did a foliar spray and soil French with the fish aminos to try to get her back on track. This is the third plant from SQ1 that I’ve grown that’s having some issues early on — the breeder has great reviews so I don’t think it’s an issue with the genetics, I think it’s just something incompatible in how I grow them. The other strain in this tent is The Spice from twenty20 Mendocino and that plant is absolutely killing it. I topped this plant early this week so I’m hoping it’s just lost a bit of vigor because it’s trying to branch out a bit more laterally. Once it sends those auxins out to the lowers I think it’ll start looking better, it’s just in a bit of a transition phase so it looks a little janky trying to throw out tops all in the center of the plant. Not too stressed about it at this point though. Once it rebounds a bit from being topped I’ll probably repot her into her final 5 gallon home for flower so look out for that next week! I’m expecting a good week of growth.

Alright this grow is finally starting to get fun. I topped this plant last week and it rebounded and started bushing out. It’s been showing signs of hunger and was getting pretty big for that 1 gallon pot so I moved it into its final 5 gallon fabric pot. It was definitely ready because it had roots sticking to the bottom of the grow bag but the repotting went well. I filled the 5 gallon with FFOF as the base and added a small scoop of craft blend, a bit of worm castings, and some mykos so she should be all set for the transition to flower in a couple of weeks. I also started tying branches down to get it to really fill out the tent and get light to the other tops. Can’t wait to see how it does this next week as the roots start to fill out the bigger pot.

This week went pretty well. No major issues with this plant. It was getting hungry before I transplanted but the new soil and amendments seem to be doing the trick. This is my favorite part of the grow honestly, it’s just cruise control until flower. Im still adding cal mag to the water most of the time when I water, once a week I’ve added a bit of the big 6 micros and a bit of the Q to thoroughly disperse the water through the medium. The Q has been as crucial for this plant. Early in the grow the soil for was super hydrophobic and the Q corrected that immediately. The roots are rapidly filling the new 5g container so they’re getting about 1/2 a gallon of water every 2-3 days. I’ve been going hard with the LST to even out and fill out the canopy and we’re almost there. Now that there’s a decent amount of foliage I’ve been keeping the humidity a bit lower. The humidity is crazy outside here but the ac infinity fan has been doing a great job keeping it controlled in the tent. I can’t let them veg much longer due to the height restrictions in the tent so I’ll probably flip to flower next week if all goes well. The nana glue plant more than doubled it’s size last round so I have to be conscious of that here.

Great final week of veg. The plant is happier than it’s ever been, full of vigor, bushed out to fill that half of the tent, and all around one of the healthiest plants I’ve ever grown. It’s filling the pot well and should have plenty of nutrition left in the medium and I did a light too dress with the build a flower to ensure it has everything it needs when it starts stretching. I’ve defoliated slightly and the canopy is fairly even. I’ve removed some of the lower growth so it focuses on the tops. Tonight will be the first 12hour dark period so it’s going to start getting really fun over the next couple of weeks.

Week 1 of flower went great, these plants have filled up the canopy, are starting to stretch, and are starting to pop pistils at the nodes. I’ve started adding build a bloom to the watering once a week, still doing the big six and recharge once a week or so as well. Not much else to say really, it’s been humid as fuck here but I’ve been really impressed with the ac infinity fan, it’s doing a great job keeping the humidity down in the tent. I’ve got the lights dialed up to 80-85% and the temps have been alright too. I didn’t do a trellis this round because I hate working around them but might end up throwing one on if it needs support in a few weeks.

Week 2 of flower and the stretch has really set in and she’s showing pistils everywhere and the tops are becoming buds. She’s putting on an inch or two daily and still super healthy. I added a really thorough top dress of build a flower that should carry her through early bud development. I’ve done a bit of defoliation of the lowers, nothing too serious, I just pluck off some of the lower bud sites and I’m removing the leaves as they become easy to pull off. I’ve tucked some of the upper leaves to expose some lower bud sites. I saw how insane the feeder roots can get in an earth box when they’re covered and not exposed to light so I’ve tried to crudely replicate that with some cardboard that I’m putting over the top on the edges of the pot so I’m interested in seeing how that turns out. The stretch seems to be slowing down which is good honestly because I’m getting close on vertical space. This plant is starting to pass the The Spice plant in height, which was expected going into this grow. It’s almost perfect right now though so I hope it starts slowing down. I got a good deal on the rootwise biophos so I swapped out the recharge for that but it’s too early to tell if that’s making any difference. Excited to start to see some buds develop this week!

Another solid week, the stretch phase has pretty much stopped and I’m getting some early bud development. It’s definitely showing some signs of hunger, the lowest growth has been yellowing and falling off and the tops are lighter than they should be. I’ve upped the build a bloom, and added it to 2/3 waterings. I also whipped up a compost tea with some local compost, a handful of build a flower, a scoop of cowoco castings, some craft blend, a pinch of the rootwise biophos, and molasses. I’m going to go out and pick up a bottle of big bloom tomorrow I think so I have something a little more immediately available than the top dress. I had this happen with one of the plants last round so I think I just need to start adding some nitrogen in early stretch. It’s not the end of the world though, she’s still plenty healthy. The only leaves that have died were ones that should’ve been lollipopped off anyway. I’m liking the structure of this plant more than the last one. Not sure if it’s different traits or just because of the stress the last plant dealt with but I can already tell this one is going to stack harder and hopefully not foxtail quite so much. I added a dehumidifier to the tent to keep the humidity down now that it’s starting to develop some buds and it’s also just been humid here lately. I dialed the lights back just a bit too while I work out the feeding so I’m not pushing them quite as hard. I think the an infinity fan is really helping keep the temps and humidity in check, it’s noticeably better than the cheap online fan I had in there before. Really looking forward to seeing some more bud development this week!

Another solid week, this plant is really happy and healthy. She’s done stretching and has transitioned to bud development. This plant stretched more than the The Spice plant it’s sharing a tent with and is stacking a bit more. It’s starting to show the first signs of color in the leaves which is always my favorite part of a grow. I’ve been alternating watering in build a bloom and big bloom as the staples, then adding the aminos, big 6 micros, and rootwise biophos each about once a week. All in all this grow is going really well and I can’t wait to see how the bud development progresses this week.

Kinda at a weird stage in this grow where it feels like the flowers should be bulking up but they haven’t quite started yet. This happened last round and it did seem to pack on the mass in weeks 6-7 so I’m not too stressed, but compared to the other plant in the tent it does seem to be falling a bit behind. It is starting to turn some beautiful shades of purple that don’t come across nearly as well in the pictures. A lot of the lower leaves are falling off but I’m thinking that has more to do with lack of light than nutrition, I have just a small amount of tip burn on the upper leaves so I don’t think it’s hungry. I’ve been keeping the watering routine pretty consistent, water with a few additives most watering a to supplement the nutrition in the medium given that I’m only in a 5 gallon pot and I’ve been pretty happy with that. It’s not full on hydro where the plant is constantly fully dependent on me for nutrients all the time but definitely not water only, which just isn’t an option with two plants in this size tent, I really can’t up the size of the pots and still have space for the dehumidifier and fans down at the bottom. All and all I’m still pretty happy with this grow, really hoping it starts packing on mass this week!

Well this plant is definitely my least favorite of the two at this point. The buds put on a bit of weight but are still lagging behind the The Spice plant in the tent. I’m hoping once the rest of them start filling out more I’ll come around on it but at this point the structure is really reminding me of autoflowers. There are a few that a globing out some so I have hope the rest will follow suit. The frost also isn’t up to par with the plant last round and is definitely behind the other plant in the tent. All of that being said, I’m really liking the fade and think it still has potential to finish out strong. I did a final top dress with build a flower and I’m supplementing with low levels of build a bloom and big bloom. I also added some rootwise biophos to hopefully ramp up the breakdown of the top dress. I think this next week is going to be pretty crucial to how these buds turn out.

Another week down but I’m feeling the same about this plant as I was last week — just not thrilled with the bud development compared to last round and the other plant in the tent. A few of the buds are nice and chunky but more than half are just meh. The frost level just isn’t there in this one either. Fortunately it smells just like it did last round and I really like the terps so it should still smoke great, even if the buds aren’t exactly what I’m looking for. Like last time I’ve got a lot of lowers that look like they’ll be worth trimming so that’s always a plus too. It still has some time to fill out so I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. It has a lot of pistils thatve gone orange but it’s also still pushing white ones too so I guess it’s still going. Most of the lower foliage has faded and been plucked. Humidity has been a bit rough here so even with a dehumidifier the tent was pushing low-mid 60’s which is way higher than I’m comfortable with at this point but it’s the best I can do. I need to invest in a better quality dehumidifier for the room outside of the tent. I’ve been doing the same with feeding — water with a low dose of either build a bloom or big bloom with cal mag or just the big 6 micros. I’ve been a bit concerned with the rate that I’m losing foliage throughout the whole grow. It’s been treated basically the same as the other plant in the tent and that one has been healthy throughout the whole grow. Anyway, we’ll see how she finishes out. I’ll break out the microscope this week just to get an idea of where we’re at and hopefully we’ll be on track to finish out in the next 2-3 weeks.

Onto the final stretch with this girl, she’s on day 56 of flower, the buds are ripening and the trichomes are mostly cloudy with a bit of clear and a bit of amber, the leaves are fading, and most of the pistils have gone orange. As I’ve said before, I’m not a huge fan of this pheno unfortunately. The frost level isn’t up to par with what you’d expect from crossing these two legendary strains, the bud structure is a bit wonky with some of the tops not really filling out, the leaf to bud ratio is just alright, and the lowers aren’t filling out nearly as well as last round. All in all it’s just nothing to write home about — it’s not bad per se, it’s just not what I’m looking for and not up to par with what I expect from sq1. Since we’re getting close to the end and we’re just in the ripening phase I’ve cut out all supplemental nutrition and we’re just going to ride out the rest of the way on what’s left in the medium. I expect to go at least one more week but the trichomes will ultimately be what determines when I chop. Be on the lookout for a new square one genetics diary if you’re interested in following along — I’ve popped a glamorous grapes (grc x bbc x forum gsc) seed for the next round and we just got past the seedling stage so the first veg post will be up within a week or so.

9 weeks of flower in the books and this grow is winding down. I liked the last pheno of this strain that I grew more than this one, but I think this is still going to be great flower. The buds are getting nice and chunky, the trichomes coverage is solid albeit a bit underwhelming considering the parent strains. This plant’s trichomes are pretty much where I’d be happy to chop but the other plant in the tent needs a bit more time so I’m gonna let this girl ride it out too. Idk what triggered it but the lowers started going off a couple of days ago and pushing white pistils so it never hurts to give those more time. I won’t trim it up for jars but I’ll process it into some dry ice hash at least. This will probably go about one more week. In the meantime I’m taking a break from the nana glue, I’m running another seed of The Spice and I snagged a pack of Glamorous Grapes from Sq1 so I’m going to run those. Those plants just finished their first full week of veg so I’ll start those journals up soon. Thanks for following along with this grow, we’ll probably get one more week and then the final harvest post a few weeks from now.

Like I said, kinda disappointed with this grow this time around, I’m gonna take a break from it. Yield came out very low thanks to how airy the buds were and had tons of larf. Could’ve yielded a bit more but I hate trimming Larry buds so most of it got bucked to turn into try ice hash. I’m running a different square one strain that I’m a few weeks into — hoping that one comes out better because I haven’t been blown away by square one at this point, it doesn’t live up to the hype IMO.
