Sweet Seeds: Gorilla Girl

I've been interested in this strain since it was released earlier this year. I have grown all of the Sweet Seeds "Red Family" of seeds and done a few diaries here. This should be a quite powerful plant at harvest being a cross of Gorilla Glue #4 and ThinMint Girl Scout Cookies. I'd like to thank Jp and Tommy at Sweet Seeds for helping me through other grows of mine and delivering more awesome Sweet Seeds genetics to me..... Here she goes: 2 feminized seeds have popped already in less than 24 hours soak....

Gorilla Girl are growing very strong. The 2nd seed was started 5 days behind.

I noticed yellowing of the lower leaves a few days back and was kind of confused because in the past my PPM was fine for "small plants/seedlings". At this size there should have been no problems. What I did not account for was the underground root zone I was growing this time because of the "RAW" beneficial spores and bacteria powder I added. Pleasantly surprised when I transplanted to 3gal pots from the red solo starter cups to see such a packed root zone!!!! I powdered the roots with Advanced Nutrients Tarantula and stuck them into the final home base of ProMix HP mixed with around 25%Perlite for added lightness in 3gallon pots. I prefer a dryer mix and can water more often when needed. Its easy to take care of such a small grow room when it comes to watering/feeding so the light soil works well for me and is a bonus at flushing time. Other than the little yellowing of lower baby leaf, the plants are very stout and study. The main stalks are quite thick for such small plants. I had 6inch fans blowing on them since the 2nd weeks so Im sure that helped. Video added and 2 pics

Took some very bottom veg off. Flipped to 12/12 to begin flowering. Plants are super healthy. Added my Mars Hydro LED in for more blues. I am very surprised the plants are not stretching much compared to the Kush Cake and ChocolateOG with them.

12/12 has been on for 4 days now. Mars Hydro BLOOM LEDs added to the COB LEDs. Noticed GGirl#2 has 11fingered fan leafs..cool Plants are beginning to stretch again and are filling in the tent space. Everything looks lush, green, no burnt tips. Will have to do some defoliation soon

Blooms are coming in very fast! I dosed these girls hard with Bud Ignitor last week. This week I went with full bloom nutes and fluids to 2L each I did a pretty heavy defoliation but it doesn't look as bare because the plants stayed fairly short to begin with. I pinched out the lower budding sites also after taking the bottom 3 branches.They are not stretching like my Kush Cake or ChocolateMintOG. No stretch is good for my short tent. I like that. High Temperature may become an issue now that we are budding. Wish them good tidings :)

Ran into the Advanced Nutrients salesman and he gave me a bottle of Voodoo Juice!!! :) nice These two Gorilla Girls are strong and healthy. They are budding very well. I am running nutrients higher than I normally do, but there is no sign of burn or stunting right yet. The tent is getting a bit too crowded though. Not every site is getting full intensity lighting although I do try to turn them once a day. GorillaGirl #2(the fews day younger one) is outgrowing her sister.

12/12 still day 21.... 375W COB leds and 200W Bloom leds. I added one EXHALE CO2 bag that is based on mycelial mass (fungi) today. Very strong and thick. I trust the Rhino Skin silicon is working wonders. The main colas are filling in nicely. Still a lot of growing time left too! There is a small amount of frosting this week, but worth noting that it has begun. Very light tip burn so I cut back the Nitrogen a couple of hundred PPM. Everything seems fine and impressive for 21 days of flower.

Day28 of flowering 375w Rapidled COB LED + 200w Mars Hydro bloom leds Everything seems well. I removed some small fan leaves that were facing inward to get better light penetration day 22. Tucking all upper fan leaves for direct bud lighting. Hung the Exhale CO2. I dont have a meter for CO2 so I'll assume it is working. We look a bit bigger and more frosty now. The main colas are filling in beautifully and will be very thick. Stems are thick and very strong and all lateral branches are packing weight now also.. Very slight yellowing of bottom most fan leaf. Not an issue but will keep an eye on it.

Day 35 of flower. The girls seem very healthy they are filling in and packing up. Tric production is mild. They smell of over ripe cantaloupe. Some of the pistals are changing colour now. Peeled off a couple of very lower fan leaves which yellowed over the last 2 weeks. Nitrogen levels must be perfect.

Day42 of flowering Girl #1 seems to have tighter buds and is still smaller, but looks like she will finish later (although she popped first by a few days) Girl#2 is much heavier and has sucked the green from her lowest fan leaves even though she is fed well. She also smells soooo good, over ripe cantaloupe/melons. I am really happy with these plants, which I did not top and let colas grow. I am thinking of removing the cola fan leaves to let light blast the other tops. Day 45, Removed almost all fan leaves to expose as much bud as possible to lighting. Scent is very strong and sweet. Very resinous leaf

Day 49 floweringSo very happy with this weeks progress! Trichome production was great this week. I peeled some lower bud sites on the main cola back away from the stalk to get better light penetration which seemed to work well. I think I am done giving the two Gorilla Girls nutrients and will fade her off with Flawless Finish now. Day 50: Flushed my pots until runoff was around 300ppm. Waiting a couple of days for the medium to dry then I will water with Ph'd Flawless Finish. There is a slight scent of citrus starting to come into the melon scent now.

Day 56 flowering The Gorilla Girls are almost ready to harvest. Foliage is still quite green and thick and tricomes are maturing. There is a significant addition of frost so I do not mind letting her go long and flushing well. Both plants smell the same with a slight heavier presence of melon in #1... Sweet, Nutty, Vanilla and dare I say it...Cakey. There is not much more to tell right now besides they are "greener" looking than the other 2 genetics in the tent. I cut a lower bud off today for a tester...I couldnt wait any longer :) Considering this was my first run of this genetics I think they did well with no topping. The colas are nice,tight and fat and the lateral branches grew quite well also. Next time I will use a little less PPM instead of pushing so hard. Plants are down now but I'll post a "Harvest" week after drying. GG #2 was heavier than #1 BUT BOTH COLAS had bud rot inside of them!!! Sooooo fucking sad, I had to toss away around 1/4lb of the best looking buds full of mold.... We had a week of very humid and hot weather that I could not control indoors and I guess thats what happens. Such a bummer, but a lot of the buds still are good and I've learned another valuable lesson... BUY A DEHUMIDIFIER FOR LATE FLOWERING!!!!!

After drying a week this bud is giving off gas. It smells delicious, like you want to nibble on it. The overall scent for two slightly different plants was #2 has more mango/melon scent and darker pistils. They burn and taste the same. Most of the frosting came very late in budding and threw a lot of trics. The main colas were very thick, tight and heavy. I busted them open to dry and found some bud rot. Most of the cola went to garbage immediately. This was a grow error which could have been avoided if I had a dehumidifier for bloom stage. It was a pleasure to grow and preferred 3/4 strength nutrients and some soil drying. I pushed it pretty hard and had some tip burn early in flower....... Delicious.
