This is a grow dedicated to Barney's Farm, and I'm extremely gratefull for having the chance to run it. Condition are hard as we are in the middle of the summer with temps above 29 Celcius, thus I decided to use LED for this grow. I choose the Chinese brand BESTVA to do the work mainly due to their efficiency and their red to blue ratio.
Entering second week, things seem to be running smoothly. No signs of stretch indicating LED's are working fine for the moment, plus the plants look super healthy and green.
Everything seems to work as expected, with the plants acquiring the desired development, short compact with relevant sidebranches. There are no signs of stretch (being my greatest fear using these led) with the Phantom OG and the Liberty Haze already showing white hair heading into preflowering. I'm satisfied overall with the grow and everything shows I'll be getting the full advantage of Barney's premium genetics! Cheers ya all!
Getting into the 4th veg week things look pretty much ok, the Phantom OG and the Liberty Haze are already getting into preflowering and things seem to be moving fast
This week I'm entering preflower stage and I also proceed with my first defoliation. I've also increased my lighting to 540 actuall watt. Plant sizes vary from 25 to 40 cm, while most of them have given some exceptional phenos. Temperatures are my worst enemy at this time, as they greatly diminish the plants metabolism. Keeping nutez low and freezing my waters seems to get them going.
Overall things are moving smooth. Temperatures aren't friendly at all and some of the Lsd and Peyote Cookies and Sugar Candy seem to be affected without worrying me too much. Plain water with regen a root seems to be the best healing potion for them. I also had to drop my ph down to 4.0 in order to compensate with the high alkilinity of my tap water and destress my plants of Nitrogen as this didn't seem to work well with high temps. The Liberty Haze and Phantom OG seems to be thriving at these conditions and I expect great yields from them. Tripple Cheese and Peyote Criticals are showing great structures with a lot of bud sites although the got a bit late into flowering and Laughing Budha along with Topdawg and Ayahuasca Purple gave out some great Indica phenos amongst others. I hope my temps headaches will be over by this week getting things back on track. Cheers to all!
The plants seem to be loading pretty well, heading nice into full flowering. The triple cheese are a bit behind but this usually leads to more load through the end so I guess it's a good thing. I have also added an extra 50W UVB so as to gain these thick crystals I love. Temps are still an enemy but I think by next week they ll start falling back.
Things are moving pretty awesome and the plants are loading at a decent rate. Ayahuasca Purple and the Topdawgs clearly will not thrive in a 12/12 system, but they do produce some amazing resin. Phantom OG, Liberty haze, Tripple Cheese and Peyote Critical seem to thrive with a perfect structure for my system and I do expect great yields from them. I got approximately 8 more weeks to go and having solved my temps prob, I think I'll do just fine. Cheers!
Things turned out a bit shady for this week as my plants give me a feeling of being stuck in depression. I need to fix things out starting by ordering a new batch of ascorbic acid as I really doubled the doses and this looked odd from the beginning. Apart from that I'm still waiting for the water analysis that will give me an apparent view of what 's going on. I also had to cut few trees as I was running out of stash. Peyote cookies, even though not treated well by my side, performed an excellent flavonoid profile that amazed as all. Can' wait to try the Liberty Haze that's actually drying right now.
This was a recovery week, I had to switch back to HPS since my temps wouldn't rise above 21 and plants seemed to love it. I chopped off few plants as I was runnin out of stash and the ones shown in the pics are phantom og and peyote cookies with the last one having a profound taste in the volcano. Buds are solid and super frosty with an overall solid quality. Cheers!
Buds seem to be building up this week and although quantity wise I don't expect much, quality is on another level this time. I ve chopped off a Topdwag and a Laughing Buddha along with an Ayahuasca Purple. Extremely small and compact plants yielding around 5-10 gramms each but really frosty and smelly buds. I expect around two, three weeks more to go for the rest to complete. Cheers ya all!
Ayahuasca Purple is an amazing indica that stands up to its name. It easily turns purple with compact buds covered with crystals. It does not need a lot of nutrients and would perform better with a month of growing. It's calming and soothing effects are unmistakable and its the perfect medication for hard stressfull cituations. Cheers y'all!
Overall a good strain but a bit on the average side for my taste since I am more of an indica guy. Plants had a very good structure with compact crystals full of resin.
After processing and vaping this strain I was even more pleased. It has a perfect energetic headbang to make you productive and uplifted. Great strain overall
I will get back to regrowing this strain, as I think I could do better and I strongly believe it can produce nuts! Vaping it reminds of the good old days when skunk was one of the best hybrids to get blazed and surely reminds us the value of keeping it simple! Thanx Barney's!
Peyote purple has been an awsome strain to grow and absolutely purple and beautifull, but never actually obtained the desired strength heavy users might go for. Blending with Critical produced a plant with all the great phenotypical characteristics and a load of high that you will remember. Relaxed and relieved are two of its main charachteristics. Great vaping it at nights to blow the stress away!
I wish I had none of my problems and actually managed to grow these strains to the maximum, nevertheless Barney's has done a great job and Phantom OG can get through hard times. I love to vape it in the morning as it really gets your head high!
Overall a really good strain that I kind of mistreated so I will definitely give this another try. The head was average but the taste was really special being really earthy with chocolate undertones. Also it gave out great color variations setting it as really fun to grow.
Hey man, Awesome grow! I got a journal for Fastbuds iPhone contest , if you could stop by my 2xGSC-COCO journal and leave a LIKE & comment I’d really appreciate it! Goodluck bro!
Most of your plants look like they are in distress. Why are you giving them 4.5 ph water/nutes? Try to bring that up to 5.8, your plants will thank you. If the ph is off, the plants shut down nutrient intake, so a good ph is key. Also, I know that a lot of people suggest a calmag supplement, but you really need it here. Good luck!
@BeefWellingtons,Hi there mate and thanx for the kind input, Yes you're right about the problem in some plants, but rather far from the solution since the case here is a bit more complex, but I will try to explain in few words. My input PH is 4.5 but my runoff measuremeants are around 7.4 and this has to do with my water. I use tap water with a small carbon filter just to keep chlorides and sodium away, as the rest of the water is full of usefull stuff including high amounts of calcium, iron and potassium amongst others. My main problems had to do with high temps and a large scale damage in one of the water companies main pipes that led me in getting water from different source, changing the composition of the water. I'm running multiple strains and situations like this are much harder to controll plus this time I worked with new strains so I didn't had much info upon how they behave and what to expect, but I think this is part of the fun process of learning. There's still some time ahead so hopefully I get to fix things, but I will need some luck involved definitely. Cheers and thanx!
This one is gonna be fun. I am a big fan of Barney’s Farm genetics. I had a pheno of their Red Diesel which remained in my garden for a few years. Best of luck with this schmorgisboard of Barney’s Farm Seeds!!!
@MagicMikesMeds, second that mate! I feel so happy for having the chance to try all these strains aside but I think i might need a second grow to fullfill their catalogue :) Their new strains rock! Things are moving great for the moment, despite the harsh temps, so let's see how they go! Thanx for the vibes! Cheers
I agree Ayahuasca Purple is a nice anti-stress strain))) rescued me more than once xD=) one minute and no stress😘 even getting funny how stupid it was😎 and still makes people kinder.
