Hello my fellow weed lovers 👋🏻. This is my first ever grow so any help or advice along the way would be greatly appreciated. I started with 10 Big Yield auto seeds, however 2 didn’t germinate and 1 died not long after sprouting. Is this normal or have I f**ked up somewhere? 😁

Its hard to say. They could of been improperly stored by the breeder or you. During shipping they could of gotten to hot and died. Your paper towel looks a little to wet which could of drown the seeds( rare to happen ). When you planted your tools/hands could of had bad bacteria on them and killed the taproot. Or it could of broke when you planted it. The soil used could of had some fungus growth right where the seed popped and killed it( damping off) So many variables that could cause a seed to not germinate or die right away. 70% success rate means your doing something right and that is what matters Happy Growing and good luck

Thank you all for the feedback. With the next batch I’ll try the 1% hydrogen peroxide for 12-24hrs, but sounds like 7/10 is quite norm! I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again 🙏

Peroxide can actually stimulate germination, but in my opinion good genetics germinate very well on their own without help

Sorry for the delay in posting, had Covid 🤒, but back on track now. Of the 3 Big Yield seedlings that died, 1 came back to life at the 11th hour so I’ve left her for now although she’s stunted and probably won’t give a decent yield. I replaced the 2 with Strawberry Cheesecake freebies and also added 1 Micromachine, so now running 11 plants in total. Thanks for reading and any feedback is appreciated. 🙏🏻 👍🏻 😁

The ladies have exploded in size over the last week and going very well. The little Big Yield is still going so I’m thinking of letting her go to the end. The Mikromachine is slightly yellow, maybe too much water so I’ll miss her out next watering 💦. The strawberry cheesecakes are coming along nicely and I can’t find much info on these online regarding size and yield so time will tell. Thanks for reading and feedback as always is appreciated. 👍🏻😁

Big growth spurt this week, both in height and width. First time at LST a few days ago and they seem to have taken to it very well with new shoots lower down springing up towards the lights. Slight defoliation to improve light penetration to the lower shoots, and they didn’t seem to mind at all. The Mikromachine is really struggling, not sure what’s wrong but slight yellowing of the leaves and not much growth. Little big Yield is starting to catch up with her sisters so I’m glad I kept faith in her! Thanks for reading and I’ll keep you all updated. 😁👍🏻

Hello growers. Is there a max limit on how much I should defoliate? I feel like I could improve the light to the lower levels more but I’m worried it could harm the plants and affect the growth?

You should almost never defoliate. Leaves = energy. With the current size of your plant it would slow her down dramatically by removing leaves. Only reason you should is if your doing a SOG or SCROG and need more airflow below the canopy. Most of the time the plant will naturally defoliate any leaves that don't get enough light. If anything you want to focus the growth by removing the lower and inner "Sucker" growth. Each fan leaf will have new growth between the main stem and the leaf. This is what I call sucker growth. It will grow just like the main stem and is where buds will start growing when she matures. By removing the lower growth she will focus more on the upper growth and be less bushey. But remember each "Sucker" growth removed is a potential bud site and/or lateral growth. Your growing an auto flower, Your best bang for your buck is to do some LST. Bend the main stem back and forth between the leaf growth to weaken it. Then once its weakened carfully bend her over and steak her down. All of the "Sucker" growth will now have more light and start growing faster and larger. It will usually take less then a day for the plant to adjust and be bending towards the light again. Good Luck and Happy Growing

Not much height this week but big growth in width and density. Having problems keeping the heat down with the freakishly hot weather in the uk at the moment so fans ramped up to increase airflow. Little big yield has really grown and almost caught up with her sisters. The strawberry cheesecake’s are really stretching and the Mikromachine seems to have recovered from whatever made her turn a bit yellow. Thanks for reading and any feedback is appreciated 👍🏻. 😁

Big growth this week. The Big Yields reacted very well to the LST with multiple bud sites now showing at the same level. Had a gnat problem for a few days so I let the coco dry out for longer between watering and it seems to be under control for now. The strawberry cheesecakes did not take well to defoliation and slowed right down and even though there only a week behind the Big Yields, there now less than half the size. The single Mikromachine is going strong but after the deficiency which I didnt get to the bottom of, it’s still small in size. White hairs are now appearing so let the flowering begin!!!! 👍🏻😁 Thanks for reading and any feedback (as always) is greatly appreciated.

What a week! Massive growth in height, width and density apart from 1 plant (Big Yield photo No 4) which is lagging behind her sisters and not sure why. Average size is 16 inches and looking at other Big Yield diaries this seems about right. “Little” Big Yield is now my second tallest plant and remember I thought it was dead in week 2 and even germinated another seed to replace it, but looking at her now I’m so glad I didn’t. The 2 Strawberry Cheesecake’s are coming on good and seem to have recovered from the defoliation stress now along with the Mikromachine. Can’t wait for week 7 😆! Thanks for reading and any feedback (as always) is greatly appreciated. Happy growing. 😁👍🏻

This was a week of ups and downs. Ups being big growth overall, even No 4 from last week has started to stretch. All deep into flowering now and had to raise the lights as some were nearly touching. Little big yield is now one of my best looking plants so it just go’s to show the resilience of this strain is something else, and the Mikromachine is looking awesome. The downs from this week are I snapped a stem of a Strawberry Cheesecake overdoing the LST, but after a bit of electrical tape wrapped round it seems to have recovered, so lesson learned there 😢. Also I missed a plant when watering and found it drooping over, but she’s recovered very well (sorry no photo as I was so pissed off!). Thanks for reading and happy growing. 😁👍🏻

Flowering has really come on this week with all apart from the Strawberry Cheesecake with the broken stem, but taping up with electrical tape saved the day. She’s now about a week behind the others. Had a calcium deficiency which I missed for a few days as very busy with work, but under control (for now!!!) It’s amazing how different the 8 Big Yields are with some dark green, some light green, some bushy, some bare, and some tall and others short. These were all from the same batch 🤷‍♂️🏻. Still about 2 weeks to go id say. Thanks for reading and see you next week. 😁 👍🏻

Is there a reason as to why my 8 Big Yields are so different in size and colour? They are from the same batch, had the same lighting and temps and identical feeds.

Each seed is going to produce it's own individual... they're going to vary in height, what they like to eat, how they grow... maybe not a LOT but there will be differences every time unless you're working with clones. That's part of the magic, part of the challenge... Your grow looks stunning and I wouldn't be complaining or worrying about a thing!

Big week for bud development with all the ladies. Slight yellowing of the lower leaves but not sure if this is normal or not 🤔. 1 Big Yield had developed brown spots on her leaves so I’ve changed up the nutes for her as per online advice so fingers crossed. 🤞🏻 Also apologies as I wrongly put in last weeks diary that I was adding flawless finish, but I was supposed to put down overdrive!!! 🤦‍♂️🏻 Thanks for reading and any advise (as always) is greatly appreciated. 😁

BioBizz nutrients do not do well below a PH of 6.2, giving your going in at 6 I would bump that up. Also not all nutrient brands are interchangeable, some of them might reacted with each other and lock out things in the medium. This to me looks like a calcium issue and I bet its caused by a lock out of to many fertilizers in the medium. Your going in a 1.4ec with a lot of products. Autos like to lightly feed compared to there photoperiod counterparts. https://www.autoflower.net/forums/threads/med-man-method-feeding-chart-ppm-ec.47856/ This is a great reference point for auto feeding, it needs to be noted it is not universal but a great start. I would also look at monitoring your runoff EC if you are getting any. This will let you know how much the plants need. If the ec is higher in the run off its getting to much,. The EC and PH values will have a small effect on each other as well. lower ec raises PH and higher EC will lower the PH..typically. You want to use this 4-10 days before you harvest so this is something you're going to have to decide. It's a nice window, actually - gives you a bit of flexibility as to when you harvest! Take a look at the trichs and figure out if they need another week or so or if you need to harvest quickly (4 days) ....then mix up a solution and thoroughly soak your pots. Then you wait 6 hours and flush the pots with clear, pH'd water and continue to ONLY give the plants pH'd water until you harvest... Sounds like you're approaching trim jail! COOL!!!! Good luck....

Started flushing the 8 Big Yield and 1 Mikromachine with Flawless Finish as showing signs there coming to the end and and looking milky under the microscope. The strawberry Cheesecakes will get another week of nutes before they start flushing and maybe longer for the broken stem one. Looking forward to finding out what weight I’ve got, but not looking forward to trim jail but it’s got to be done 🤷‍♂️🏻. Thanks for reading and see you next week. 😁

All Big Yields and the 1 Micromachine are cut and now drying. Total wet weight after slight wet trim is 64.44 Oz. Little Big Yield ended up with 5.7 Oz wet weight which is amazing considering I thought she was dead at early seedling stage and actually germinated the Micromachine as a replacement!!! The 2 strawberry Cheesecakes are still going and will look to start the flush on these maybe at the end of the week. Thanks for reading and stay tuned for the final dry weight before curing begins. 😁 👍🏻
