PaxIlluminare Process planning and organization have dominated the work this week. I have all necessary production materials and equipment as far as I can tell. This is my first indoor grow so I am certain there will be something that goes wrong or that I have missed. I have designed a floor layout in a standard grid using conventional labels, Letters Identify Rows and numbers the position of the pots. for example I have 6 plants in process, each pot is assigned a floor position, Example: ___A___|__1__|__2__|__3__| The positions become buckets you can use to log key data points you need or can think of. As I am somewhat obsessive I have spun up a DB , added Batch numbers and ID for the individual, allowing analysis to pretty fine detail. Currently I record, environment data, soil data. Little help, am I missing any key pieces to watch? In your experience what are the best indicators to collect?

PaxIlluminare Watered with feed about 1 gal per pot, Temps and humidity are remaining stable, PH is dead on 7 researching weather to bring it down a few points. Growth is proceeding rapidly stalks seem strong though I have two leaners, Leaves are green and showing no signs of deficiency. Thanks to all who took the time to guide me concerning PH and it's importance. Being a new grower any and all experience shared is a gift, I really appreciate it.

No @M0use that is only true if you have a living soil. When you use a normal soil without organismes and the right bacteria living in their it doesn't regulate shit because it is not living... I always make living soil with bacteria and fungi that regulate and work together with the plants root system. But you need to feed them from the start till the roots can provide then with enough sugar to be self regulating. But when you are feeding them bottled nutrients and nothing for the soil life there is really nothing living in there! Goodluck PaxIlluminare! πŸ˜‹

Yes, you should lower the pH of your water. Bad things start to happen when your plant is in neutral soil. Powdery mildew is easier for your plants to catch. Molds thrive in this pH. Pests will start chewing on your plants because they aren't as healthy as they should be. A lot of people don't realize how important pH and pH testing is. Try and keep your pH moving between 6.0-6.8. Doing that helps your plants take in all the varying minerals and nutrients it needs to thrive. pH also influences the rhizosphere. The rhizosphere is a bunch of microbes that help break down different things to make soluble for your plant's roots. All these things are what help make a plant healthy and close to untouchable for pests and mildews/molds. So, don't forget to feed your rhizosphere! 1-3 tablespoons of unsulfured molasses per gallon, once a week. I hope this helps.

PaxIlluminare My lighting timer went on the fritz and the plants got 24 hours of light before I found the issue. regardless the girls are growing up fast and strong. Nearly 6 inches of growth this week. I am very happy with the progress. Considering when to apply LST this week.

PaxIlluminare Major Thanks and shout out to Growing Grannie https://growdiaries.com/grower/GrowingGrannie for helping me navigate my ignorance and saving my grow. The Auto's are flowering so I switched to 12/12 so the widows will follow. otherwise all is well save some damage to foliage from over feeding. I have discovered my tap water is garbage, the pH from the tap is over 9 and the chlorine is overwhelming. Looking at an RO system to compensate. Also I stumbled upon a rabbit hole that has me wondering how many use music in there grow. I found multiple studies showing benefit from playing music for your plants. The studies I have seen claim classical to show the best results so I have started my Girls on Mozart.

"One study, conducted in 1962, found that the growth rate of plants can be accelerated when plants are exposed to music. This study found that different types of music, including classical music and raga music, all had an impact on a plant’s growth rate. This particular study found that violin sounds had a stronger effect on plant growth than other types of musical sounds. " Never take grow advice from stoners.
