Exciting times.
I'm going for a full closet of Planet of The Grapes Autoflower by Ethos.
I just got things sorted out and these seeds in the water today. I've used ~3% H2O2 with my soak solution for sterilization purposes. I'm putting my seeds on a little heating pad and keeping track of the temp aiming for high 70's. Hopefully I can get 100% germ rate, I did not soak an extra seed. I will soak for 24hrs and then plant directly into my pre watered soil.
I've made a soil mixture of 2 parts Fox Farm Ocean Forest, 1 part perlite, with an additional supplement of Roots Organic Elemental @ 1 tsp per 3g of mixture. The pots are 3 gallons with tons of holes drilled into the bottom for nice drainage and aeration.
I'll be going fox farm trio and silica for this round, with calmag+ and Hydroguard. I plan to feed once a week @ 1/4 rate to start, beginning at week four or so.
I'll update with more pics until the weeks end, and report with the germ rate.
10/26/22 -update- All the seeds have popped little tails. So I've watered ea pot with about a 10 sec pour out a shower style gardening watering can.I want to soak in and around the area the seeds will take up to retain RH until they pop, but I don't want to sog out the whole pot. I made a solution of 2g H2O w/ 25drops of rapidstart, 4ml hydroguard, 4ml calmag+. I'll keep them covered and mist their soil daily to retain moisture until they pop out of the ground. Right now I've got my light on 50% at ~2ft.

Wahoo. All my seeds have broken the soil.
Good first week.
They all look healthy and happy. I'm very excited to have 100%germ rate.
With watering I'm trying to maintain decent moisture but not over water. I let them dry out until the pots go light and the surface soil is dry. I'm using the watering can already b/c with all the perlite I used it goes dry fast. I want to encourage root growth so I am watering around the edge of the pot. They're each getting about 1/6th of a gallon each watering.
This round I am going to LST all of these little ladies at like week 3. My last round responded very well to the training. It didn't increase overall yield, but it did help the plant make bigger formed buds throughout. Hopefully with the LST I will get the more developed larger buds and less popcorn buds.
Stay tuned. I'll add more pictures as the week progresses.
Good week.
Ladies are looking happy and healthy. I think they are about right where they should be, the plants on the right are a bit less developed. I checked the lux on my right light and it was lower than the left. I adjusted them even again. I've got my lights at 25" from the plant tops at about70% power.
Been watering about 1.3 liters per plant every 4 days with the above listed nutes.
I plan on training these ladies with some light lst next week.
Good Week. I'm very happy with the progress.
These ladies have responded quite nicely to the training. Again, I am using LST because my last round of this strain responded very nicely to it. Last round I just used a simple tie down. One tie supports the main base and the other tie is just below the top developed leaves pulling the plant down and spreading out light to the lower branches. I did this in week 3 b/c the lateral branching has developed but the plants are still young and limber. I try to keep the main growth point below or level with the other growth points. I don't want to stress them out for too long, I want them to get growing again. I will try and finish my training today then leave them alone except for leaf tucking. I'm debating tomorrow before I water if I should remove the lower leaves in contact with the soil. I just don't want to stress em out too much.
Not too much to report.
I turned up my lights last week. they're at about 24" away from the plants at ~75% power. I have a cheap lux reader on my phone and it says I'm at ~ 30,000 lux. For me this is good about 750 micromoles if I did my math right. I can still turn my light up in flower and hopefully get some good results.
I plan to start the nutrients tomorrow at the beginning of the 4th week. I am going to start with 1/4 strength to see the response of the plant and the runoff. I checked my runoff and pH is still happy and PPM's were still sitting at 1200-2200(beginning of the week)
I had some fading spots showing up on the leaves of the right plants. It was my bad I was using the recommended dosage for seedlings not week 2 or 3. I adjusted accordingly and the spots seem to have stopped spreading and the plant is growing healthy again.
Thanks for visiting and stay tuned, I expect these ladies to take off in the next couple of weeks.
Good week of growth.
I cleaned up my closet a bit. Just got the electrical stuff off of the floor. Those power strips already have little mount slots on the back of them. Hopefully this will help me utilize some of the high lux areas in the center wherethe lights cross and the power cables were.
I started the Fox Farm liquid trio plus open sesame at 1/4 recommended dose for week 4 from their feeding guide online. file:///C:/Users/calla/Downloads/fxf_soil_usa_std-1.pdf
My PPM's and pH were happy after the feed at the beginning of the week. I got some very minor leaf tip burn on the right plants, which is weird b/c their ppm was lower.
I noticed from my last round of POTG autos that the ladies were a bit further ahead around this same time. I thought maybe my light experiment keeping it at ~600-700 for veg was slowing them down so this week I cranked the light up gradually to 100%
Some of the ladies had started to flower harder than others, seems to be the ones closer to the center or crossed light beams.
I'm excited to see these ladies finish stretching, fill out, and stack on some preflowers.
Hopefully the FoxFarm can keep up results wise with the Earth Juice Sugar Peak.
Thanks for checking out my diary. Stay tuned. The fun part is getting close.
Wahoo, Go Ethos!!
Good week of growth for these ladies.
For food I am using 1/3 of week 5's nutrients on the FF site with the above listed products. I fed twice this week. Once at the beginning then a sledgehammer flush in the middle and food again on Saturday. The plants require water every other day now. I will feed accordingly to keep my ppms @~1000. I don't know if I will need to feed twice every week or just the flush weeks.
My pH's and PPM's are in good order.
I got sick of the lower leaves being in my way, so I defoliated any under leaves hanging near the dirt. I also decided to take off the tiny growths on the bottoms of the plant that hadn't developed any flowers yet. Playing around with the plant I noticed these ladies have a really strong smell already. It gets me excited to smell that fresh fire. I'm very happy watching these ladies. It's about time for them to stack up. Hopefully I can keep them happy.
So far so good. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for checking out my diary!
Good week.
Experienced a bit of Phosphorus def at the beginning of the week. I've increased my CalMag+ a touch and the FF trio up to a half dose. The soil seems to be void of any nutrients now. The sledgehammer really seemed to clear out my soil. My runoff is really low on my flush days. I'm worried to feed more, or to feed instead of flush. I don't want more burn. Hopefully the increased food will help.
With the exception of one plant(R2) all the ladies are flowering nicely, with L2 in the lead as the most developed plant.
Thanks for checking out my grow! Stay tuned. Hopefully they will be getting real juicy soon.
Good week of bud thickening growth for most all the plants.
Little bit of yellow picking up this week. My runoff pH has dropped lower than I'd like it and I believe that is having an effect on the plants not allowing them to get what they need. As well I believe i have been letting them go a bit too dry. so now I will water when light and dry on top but not feather light. I think also a stronger amendment of the roots organic elemental at the beginning would have helped it stay in range.
For the autos shorter life cycle I took a week off of the middle of the grow schedule. So now I am at week 8 where the tiger bloom is doubled.
I am pleased with all of the plants but 1. It did encounter more stress than the other ladies.
I'm pretty pleased with the close up shots. These ladies still have a ways to go, but it's always like a candy jungle or something when you look through the digital viewer. Makes my mouth water.
Thanks for checking out my diary!
These ladies are doing great!
Fattening up and getting really stinky!
Not too much to report. I did another sledge hammer flush on my water day.
I am very pleased with things. The smell is outrageous now.
Go Ethos!!
Happy Holidays Everyone!
Thanks for checking out my grow!
Good week of swelling and stinking. haha
They're doing good. A little more yellow than Id like but they are getting close to finish and I will just ride it out. I see 2 things affecting the yellowing. First doing an every other feed I find when checking the runoff from the water part of that it comes out really low. I'm sticking to my plan this time and still feeding every other time. Secondly I used 1 tsp / pot of Roots organic elemental and I think I should have done 1.5tsp/pot or 2tsp/pot. My last round with the grandpas stash I did the 2tsp per/ pot(3g) and my pH stayed nice and steady @ 7 pH through the whole grow. So I will be returning to the amendment amount that provided me the good pH and once that's in range I will consider adding more quantity or frequency of food if just the pH alone doesn't help.
I am stoked for these ladies to be finishing up. The tops of the plants are looking pretty nice to where i am think of chopping in a week or 2 but I am totally waiting for the full development of the plant or until I am losing plant health.
Good Week for these ladies.
I did a major defoliation at the beginning of the week to get some more light penetration to the lower buds.
I'm getting real excited for the harvest. Keeping an eye on the trichomes. Gonna go to just pH'd water until harvest.
Good week. Victorious day today.
I am posted this week a couple days early but I have decided to chop. The indicator buds were starting to turn. I don't want to deal with any mold as I will be making fresh frozen water hash from the trim, and the far right plant.
I watered them yesterday and the runoff ppm was down low enough for me. Hopefully watering them the night before a chop they will dry slower and retain flavor.
I will post up the harvest photos when I get the dry weight.
Thanks for tuning in.
Go Ethos!
Wahooo! Planet of the Grapes Auto by Ethos Genetics is an amazing strain for beginners and novices alike. This was my 3rd run of POTG Auto and it was joyous and rewarding. Delicious red-fruit grape smells have dominated my 2nd bedroom for a couple months now. I love this strain. It makes fire buds, fire hash, and has never dissapointed me. Don't miss out, get yourself some of these seeds!
This has been a wonderful journey with an amazing harvest.
In the future I will be using less perlite for the FFOF and more Roots Organics Elemental dry amendment. I also did an experiment keeping the lights a bit lower in veg, I won't do that again.
I am a little disappointed with how fast they dried, but I did what I could do to keep them in range. It's just too dry here in Coloradistan. I'm not worried, b/c they smell fire. I shouldn't lose any of that with the cure. I keep them in mason jars in a dark little camping cooler for the cure.
I wound up with 365.99 grams of dried trimmed high quality smokeable buds from 5 of the plants, because I saved one whole plant for bubble hash.
I haven't processed all my fresh frozen trim and plant matter into hash. I wanted to get a couple warm up runs so I plan to to the 3 qt bags of trim first. I ran 1 qt bag of trim so far, the smallest one. From that I got 2 grams of full melt hash, and a gram of sub par bubble hash(it bubbles and melts just doesn't burn as clean). I also got an unweighed amount of scissor hash. All hashes spoken of are quite delicious. They have retained the wonderful Grape Skunk flavor and are a joy to smoke. Even the Scissor hash bubbles and melts real good, just not a fully clean burn.
I am super stoked with these nugs. They are dense they are frosty.
I will post some cured shots and close up shots when I do the smoke report here in a month or so.
Thanks for checking out my diary.
I appreciate all the support and positive energy.
If you haven't already, GO BUY SOME ETHOS GENETICS.
: 1:👌👊
those big buds are just draining the leaves, thats most of the yellow. i'd take off the bigger fan leaves to to get a bit more light penetration.
very nice looking plants!!!!
@felixthegrower, Hey thanks! I appreciate it 👍🙏. That plant in the first pic has been the runt the whole time. Finally though it is coming along, filling and frosting up. I plan to make bubble hash out of that plant. Thanks for the kind words!
@Dilphoducus, Thnx, I appreciate your kind words! 🙏👍👊 They're really shiny in the closet drying. The trim operation turned out very well. I can't wait to report the harvest with weight once it drys. I also ran a bit of practice bubble hash run today. Looks stellar, can't wait until it drys to sample. Gonna do another run tomorrow if the ice is ready.
@SpaceStation, thank you, I'm very happy with them yessir, I'm gonna do 3 sssc auto purple og punch and 3 pineapple runtz auto. Pretty excited. Just got a nectar for the god's sample I'm gonna try out. Sad to sit on the FF stuff because it did a great job by but I gotta try nftg out.
