WEEK 1 – 14/10/2022 - 20/10/2022
Grow no. 8! This is the longest I've gone not growing since I started more than 2 years ago. It was so hard to find the motivation to grow again after losing a loved one in the family. But I figured keeping my mind occupied is the way to go. So here goes grow no 8. Not going for anything experimental in grow method. Keeping this one simple. Autoflower in automated watering/drainage system like previous grow. I wanted indica dominant strain this time and wanted to go with genetics that I'm confident with. So Dutch Passion it is and Blue Auto Mazar fit my Indica dominant preference perfectly.
10/10/2022 - 7 seeds soaked in filtered water for 24 hours.
11/10/2022 - Seeds placed in paper towel and moistened with filtered water
14/10/2022 - All 7 seeds germinated with 100% germination rate! (so glad I went with Dutch Passion).

Transferred to Root Riot, kept moist with Nitrozyme (10ml/1L) and placed in humidity dome. Light turned on and set at 50% intensity. Height adjusted to get around 200 ppfd.
11/5/2022 - Root riot transplanted to party cup filled with coco:perlite, 50:50. Great White mycorrhizae sprinkled prior to transplant. Seedlings are looking great!🙂
1L of water mixed with the following:
Cal Mag - 5ml/gal - 1.3ml
Micro - 1.25ml/gal - 0.3ml
Gro - 0.6ml/gal - 0.2ml
Bloom - 0.6ml/gal - 0.2ml
Niotrozyme - 5ml/L
pH - 6.22
eC - 0.68
WEEK 2 - 21/10/2022 - 27/10/2022
22/10/2022 - Set up the automated watering system and mixed new batch of nutrient in 5 gallons of water yesterday. This morning I noticed the seedling tray and whole tent got flooded. Only then I realized that I forgot to change the timing duration for the water pump. It was the same as the previous grow. So it was 6 minutes of continuous watering for 7 seedlings in a party cup. Sigh... Everything was going so well and this stupid thing had to happen. To make things worse, the nutrient I mixed yesterday wasn't even pHed properly yet. So the seedlings were getting fertigation with 7.1 ph. Anyways, I corrected the balance of the nutrient mix ph to 6.2 and re drenched the seedlings party cups to balance out the high ph. I just hope the plants dont get too stressed and affect the growth rate.
23/10/2022 - The seedlings seem to be looking fine. I'm going to omit feeding for today. Will remix new batch of nutrient and must remember to set new fertigation timing duration this time.
5 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 5ml
CM - 5ml/gal - 25ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 11ml
Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 12ml
Blm - 1ml/gal - 5ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 10ml
pH - 6.3
EC - 0.91
WEEK 3 - 28/10/2022 - 3/11/2022
1/11/2022 - Left the plants for 5 days with the automated watering and they seem to love it! They grew so big, I had to transplant today. Mixed 50/50 coco/perlite and used 3 gallon fabric pot. Did a little adjustment with the drip irrigation. Rather than just one outlet for each plant, I split it into 4 outlet for each plant. This way the medium would be fully saturated without any dry spots. Perhaps I should add wetting agent for better water permeability. Tested it with a stronger water pump and worked perfectly. Prior to transplant, sprinkled a little mycorrhizae and top covered with hydroton clay pebbles to avoid algae growth from frequent fertigation. All 6 plants were growing well and it was difficult choosing the final 4. Finally went with two plants with wider internodal space and another 2 plants with tighter internodal space. Let's see how they different the growth would be until harvest. So far so good and I have a good feeling about this grow. :)
2/11/2022 - 10 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 10ml
CM - 5ml/gal - 50ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 22.5ml
Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml
Blm - 1ml/gal - 10ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 20ml
pH - 6.23
EC - 0.95
3/11/2022 - Did first watering with the new irrigation system, and it took about 5:30 to get roughly 20% runoff. As this is the first watering so the amount is more. As i increase the frequency of fertigation, the amount should be less each fertigation.
WEEK 4 - 4/11/2022 - 10/11/2022
9/11/2022 - 10 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 10ml
CM - 5ml/gal - 50ml
Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml
Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml
Blm - 1.2ml/gal - 12ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 20ml
pH - 6.23
EC - 1.08
Plant 3 and 4 have started showing stigmas. Plant 1 pheno is a little strange. Each nodes has 4 tips coming out, two on each side. I hope it can flower and doesnt turn out to be a dud.
11/11/2022 - Did LST for all 4 plants and defoliated the lower nodes and leaves to allow better air circulation. About 2 hours after I noticed the main branch of plant 1 broke clean. I don't think I tied it down too hard. Something is up with this plant's phenotype. I decided to just remove the main node and hoping that the other 5 branches would be sufficient to flower.
Plant 2 have started showing stigmas as well. I'll give plant 1 few more days to see any evidence of stigmas. If none then I'm thinking of force flowering by turning down the light to 12/12 so that I can harvest all the plants one shot.
WEEK 6 - 18/11/2022 - 24/11/2022
22/11/2022 - Left the plants for 5 days and when I came back they recovered really well from previous LST and defoliation! It's really awesome to see large Indica fan leaves.:)
I was previously using 6 port drip manifold and only used 4 ports, one for east pot. Received the 8 port manifold from Amazon today and changed the whole irrigation tubing. So now, each pot gets 2 main tubing that will branch to 2 drip each. The watering is a lot faster now. Previously I had set my timer to 4 minutes to get adequate run off. Now I only have to do it 2 minutes of watering, 3 times a day. The girls are showing huge difference in growth since I added air pump to the reservoir.
15 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml
CM - 5ml/gal - 75ml
Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml
Gro - 1.5ml/gal - 22.5ml
Blm - 2.5ml/gal - 30ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 6.22
EC - 1.11
25/11/2022 - Plant 1 still hasn't shown any signs of flowering yet while the other three are on flowering stretch of week 2 bloom. This is the one thing I don't like about autoflowers. If one plant doesnt flower, the other plants are forced to follow the same light schedule of 12/12. That's exactly what I need to do now. Starting tomorrow I'll start 12/12 light timing until harvest. So disappointing. I was hoping to see how 20 hours of light could improve the yield of autoflowers.
WEEK 7 - 25/11/2022 - 1/12/2022
1/12/2022 - 15 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml
CM - 5ml/gal - 75ml
Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml
Gro - 1.5ml/gal - 22.5ml
Blm - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 6.10
EC - 1.11
Plant 1 still isn't showing any signs of flowering despite 1 week of 12/12. But it's growing healthy. The annoying part is the nutrient requirement would be different when the other 3 plants enter mid bloom next week. Now I'm reminded why I preferred photoperiod for previous grows. So.. back to photoperiod for next grow then.
WEEK 8 - 2/12/2022 - 8/12/2022
2/12/2022 - 15 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml
CM - 3ml/gal - 45ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 34ml
Gro - 0.5ml/gal - 7.5ml
Blm - 3ml/gal - 45ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 6.10
EC - 0.88
The plants are in autopilot mode now except plant 1 which is kinda showing flowering signs. This means they have another 3 weeks of stretch. It's already almost as big as the other 3 plants. By the time it finishes stretch, it will occupy a lot of space. So there's going to be plenty of supercropping and LST to maintain the canopy with the other 3 plants.
WEEK 9 - 9/12/2022 - 15/12/2022
14/12/2022 - 15 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml
CM - 2.5ml/gal - 37ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 34ml
Gro - 0ml/gal - 0ml
Blm - 4ml/gal - 45ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 6.00
EC - 0.80
Left the plants for almost a week and the automated fertigation worked flawlessly. Plant 2,3 and 4 are on full flowering mode now. So I decided to cut off Gro from the feeding regime. Even though plant 1 is still in its stretch. Lets see if plant 1 shows any nitrogen deficiency. If it does, I would have to start a separate nutrient schedule for it.
WEEK 10 - 16/12/2022 - 22/12/2022
The smell is getting stronger. Sweet and mango smell which means the myrcene terpene dominates this strain as most Indica dominant do. But not too overwhelming that the air filter cant handle.
It's monsoon season here and the humidity is quite high outdoors. The AC has been having a tough time to bring the RH down even on dry mode. Lights on its between 60-75, Lights off 70-80. But I dont see the need for a dehumifier yet. The plants have been defoliated well and the air circulation seems to be good.
15 gallons of water mixed with the following:
Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml
CM - 2.5ml/gal - 37ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 34ml
Gro - 0ml/gal - 0ml
Blm - 4ml/gal - 45ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 5.80
EC - 0.80
WEEK 12 - 30/12/2022 - 5/1/2022
2/1/2022 - Plant 2,3 and 4 trichome inspection done and it's about 50/50 cloudy/clear. So it's in its harvest window now. But the buds chosen for inspection were not the main colas. According to Dutch passion, this strain can be harvested around 10-11 weeks from germination. But I'll be starting Ripen at the beginning of week 13 . That would take another 10 days and 2 days of Kleen and just nice to harvest. This time I'm going for more amber trichomes as the strain is Indica dominant and I am looking for more of couch lock effect with more trichomes turning amber.
As for plant 1, it still has some time to go as it started flowering 3 weeks after the other three plants. It had longer time to veg so it should yield more.
5/1/2022 - Set up another reservoir for Plant 1. As for the other 3 plants I'll be starting Flora Ripen feeding tomorrow.
10 gallons of water mixed with 5ml/L of Ripen for plant 2,3 and 4.
pH - 6.01
eC - 1.81
15 gallons of water mixed with the following (for plant 1):
CM - 2.5ml/gal - 37ml
Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 34ml
Blm - 5ml/gal - 75ml
HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml
pH - 5.80
EC - 0.80
WEEK 13 - 6/1/2022 - 12/1/2022
16/1/2023 - 5 gallons of water mixed with 3ml/L of Florakleen for plant 2,3 and 4. While Plant 1 still following the previous regime.
The smell is a lot stronger now. After 3 years of using the Vivosun carbon filter, it's no longer effective in filtering the odour. It's a combo of fruity/ spices/earthy smell. But when I accidentally brush against the buds, it's more fruity. I quite like this terpene profile.🙂
18/1/2023 - After 2 days of Kleen, Plant 4 and 3 harvested and wet trim done. I only had enough time to harvest 2 plants. Hoping to harvest plant 2 tomorrow.
20/1/2023 - Harvested plant 2 today and did wet trim. This time I didnt bother separating the buds by plant since all of them have almost the same phenotype.
24/1/2023 - Plant 2,3 and 4 dry weight came to 488g. Thats an average of 160g per plant! Pretty great for an autoflower I'd say! But the buds are quite loose and airy. I attribute this to high RH during flowering. Hoping the final plant would have denser buds.
THC - 15 - 20%
75% Indica/ 25% Sativa
I quite enjoyed this grow. Smooth and no major issues with the automated watering/drainage system.
Good plant genetics but cant say the same about the autoflowering side. 1 plant failed to flower despite waiting for almost 4 weeks when the other 3 are in full bloom, which forced me to change the light timing from 20/4 to 12/12.
They grew like typical indica. Responded very well to LST and defoliation. They rebounded back fast despite aggressive training and even when I accidentally cut the main stem.
The terpene profile during bloom was quite pleasant. By week 5 of flowering, strong sweet and mango smell. But not too overwhelming that the air filter cant handle.
It was monsoon season where I live during mid bloom period and the AC couldn't bring down the RH effectively. And I didnt have a dehumidifier at the time. This definitely affected the first 3 plants that got harvested. Most buds are loose and airy. But the one plant that failed to flower by itself escaped the high RH period and the bud structure is more dense and solid. And that one plant yield came up to 230g! All together the total yield is 718g. How??!! That's just insane. They are just autos.
Harvested the first 3 plants when the majority of trichomes were cloudy and some amber. Did wet trim and dried for about 4 days. Then placed them in Grove bags and the RH was at 65. After bagging them, if the RH goes more than 65, I take them out of the bag and spread them on a tray to dry. Once the RH stabilizes at 60-62, I stop burping and let Grove bags to continue curing. Hoping this would help to maintain the terpene profile later on. The last plant I harvested, decided to do dry trim instead and dried for about 8 days.
After curing for about a month, the buds appear more dense and thick. Used a dry herb vape for first smoke test. Earthy and pine aroma with a hint of spices. Cheerful and giggly initially. Very pleasant high. After an hour or so, it turns to a more relaxed and calm effect and perfect to fall asleep. I really like this strain. Perfect for evenings after a long days work. The THC is not excessively high like the more newer strains and to me this is exactly what I want.
I'll be taking few months off from growing to focus on other things in life. Thanks to the ones that have been following my grow.
