Germination
April 29 started germinating according to the following way; 2 plates with kitchen paper in between, with plant spray well moisten. Seeds in it and plates on top of each other. Stable temperature and humidity is very important for proper germination. I used a seedling mat from Ali, on it 2 oven grids, plates on it so that there is no direct heat conduction otherwise they will get too hot again. Plug the mat into a thermostat controller and set to 21C and measuring point of controller inside 1 of the boards done. Tea towel over it. According to this way of germinating, Sensi Seeds also gives a 99% germ guarantee. If they do not germinate, they will reimburse your seeds. 2 May 99% germinated.

After this the seedlings +/- 0.5cm deep sown in bags of Aliexpress, grow bags. These bags are biodegradable and grow through the roots, so you can repot them with bag and all. Ideal, because autoflowers are really mega sensitive to repotting. During cultivation I have a low dose of aptus root stimulator and B'cuzz A and B, but I will omit that B'cuzz from now on, I will come back to it. They have started to stretch very much again, I always have with seedlings that would be lacking due to light. What to do against stretching of seedlings? I don't know what you can do directly against stretching, but as soon as the seedlings have to be repotted again, I put them a lot deeper, up to the cotyledons or even deeper. Next time I'm going to smear the stems with cutting powder with a few plants to try to get good root growth there. Then it is only the question whether autoflowers do not get stress from this, I do not think so since they are still in the growth phase. If someone has good tips to prevent stretching, I would like to hear it. When growing the seedlings, 1 immediately got stressed, which it did manage to the end, but with weird top growth.

After 20 days, the roots already started to come through the bags. Small white dots. Then I repotted them to square 18 liter pots in potting soil from the local garden center. Not what I wanted, but my local growshop had moved. I never trust that ordinary potting soil so bad pests and there is no perlite through it. After repotting, most of the plants died, 3 pieces, they just didn't catch on in the 1st way or another. Didn't want to root any further. I think they still suffered from the repotting. The following weeks I had some problems with aphids and snails. What to do against snails? His rotten beasts, I found out that they are under my pots during the day and then come out at night. 2 or 3 of those large slugs eat away almost an entire plant in 1 night. Looked under all the pots a few times and flattened all the snails. And this helped a lot. You can buy those grains, but I found that expensive and did not help nearly as well. What to do against aphids? I just got some stuff from the garden center to mix with water and treated the plants with a plant sprayer. Especially spray well under the leaves. Of course, you would rather never do this type of treatment with 'poison' in the flowering phase, since that poison will then sit in your buds which you will smoke up again. This stuff from the garden center worked perfectly, after this I had little trouble with aphids. The following weeks I had some problems with aphids and snails. What to do against snails? The growth phase went very well after this, partly thanks to the beautiful weather, 2022 had of course also been a top year with sun and temperature. I topped them 1x after the 5th anode and afterwards I should have budd them once and removed the bottom 2 to 4 branches. In the end, nothing came of it and only energy is wasted. Never do this pruning when they are in bloom, guaranteed that your autoflowers will go to shit because of the stress. I had not topped 1 plant, it was really beautiful, 160cm high with a thick head top. But you will be better off with yield if you top.

What do the do against yellow weed leaves and stress? Yellow leaves that burn afterwards often mean an excess of food and that is easy to solve. Just rinse for a few days with ordinary taps of water and then they will recover. But this did not help and it only got worse, stress and yellow purple leaves with white spots. Shocking and worrying. The largest leaves first turned light yellow and started to droop, then large yellow spots appeared in them. And then they burn. It seems to be more common for large leaves to be shed when they start flowering, but this was more than that. The whole plants started to turn yellow and I was really worried, I thought there goes my harvest again. Some plants also turned completely purple. This kind of problem is always very difficult to say what it is now and afterwards what it was and what really helped. My thought first went to switching to other foods. I started googling that B'cuzz food and it turns out that there are also some basic nutrients missing. I then got a bag of regular fertilizer containing all the basic nutrients, eurosolids NPK 12-10-18 Arm. First tried on 1 plant and with good results. This plant turned a beautiful dark green again within a day or three. Then I added to all the plants and they all recovered fairly well. But yes, before I had come to the idea of that fertilizer, of course, a lot of damage had been done. What is PH and EC and why measure PH and EC? (How to measure PH and EC? You can google that yourself, it's full of it) PH is an acid or base measurement measured on a scale of 1 is max acid, between 7 and 8 is neutral, and 12 is max base. From what I know, plants mainly like a somewhat acidic soil, is what farmers actually do with spreading manure over the countries. At a certain PH value, plants absorb certain nutrients best and with cannabis plants I fluctuate around PH 6, between PH 5.7 and PH 6.3, they say that young plants like nice and acidic, maybe PH 5.6, but then you are on the edge. And how accurate is your PH meter, so risky. So I also started feeding with PH and EC measurements again so that I am certainly well. PH around 6 and EC around 1.8 (1.8 would be good for a Sativa dominant strain) kept all this time. I had sometimes understood that measuring PH and EC would not really be necessary if you grow on soil and then also outside, but to be 100% sure you can do it better. Occasionally a little rinsing and also EC measured off the ground to see if it dropped. Somewhat adapted to the diet, with the B'cuzz bloom and Canna Flores the EC value to 1.5, and then to the 1.8 with Aptus Topbooster. Then with PH acidification to PH 5.9/6.3. And the summits went like a rocket after this, some became really rock hard. What it really was I do not know exactly, the potting soil will also have come around this time without nutrients. I think it was initially 1 of the basic nutrients. But by working with PH and EC it certainly became much better. The plants became really thick and dense, on which I thought more sunlight is always better. I then moved them a bit and tried to spread them out in my garden so that more light could come in. I'm afraid I shouldn't have done this either. 3 plants got stressed and wanted to grow again, these 3 I was also able to write off. So also learned from this, autoflowers move as little as possible.

1st week of August they started to bloom, there was some top rot in it. That means from germination to harvest 14/15 weeks. And that is correct with the given 12 weeks flowering of Sensi. But I wanted to leave them for a while to rinse well for the taste. Normally I cut out those first buds with rot and I only cut those. Another mistake, autoflowers should never be cut out when they are in bloom. Not even when flowering, because within a few days they will act weird again, they get stressed and they want to grow again. If 1 gets rot, you should always cut the entire plant immediately. And how exactly you know when your buds are really good is also difficult for me. I keep it at 60% of the threads should be brown. I have also read that with a magnifying glass you could see a brown stripe on a THC drop to know for sure.

These photos were taken after they had been cut down for a while. So the roots are a bit browner than normal. They have well rooted, but almost only down. Sees that placing deeper by stretching is not ideal with regard to the space that the roots will use in a pot. But I don't think it's really had a detrimental effect on yield. Drying went pretty well, maybe a little too hot. There are really hard peaks in between, but others are not. Within 2 weeks everything dry, because it was still warm in mid-August. Thick yield of 1.7kg which after all these problems is a very thick and higher yield than expected. 200gr still taken out, because I didn't think it was good enough. Because of that cutting out of buds, the buds that remained became very airy and weird again, really a shame. More than a month of curing in large air closed cans purchased from polyestershoppen.nl. Its ideal large cans with clamp bracket, 3 pieces of 10L and 2x 20L. What to do to improve smell and taste? Now some testing to improve the smell and taste with dried fruit and essential fruit oils. Even fruit dried in the oven, but I honestly have little confidence in that, unless you let it be cured in a pot for a year. I'm going to try essential citronella oil, because at least it smells. If people have any tips for taste and smell improvement at the end, I'd love to hear it. That essential oil has a real effect on the smell, but taste with smoking actually does not. I think that fruit takes a bit longer, but ultimately has little effect. Think that for taste you really have to apply light stressing during growth and flowering. Google it, I'm going to try next year. I'm already looking at what I want to do next year. Think I'll stick with this strain for 50% since I now know where I stand. And then I really want to try some Cali autoflower strains. Runtz, Weddingcake, Gelato, something along those lines. Do people have experience with this, which are the tastiest Cali strains with smell and taste of 2022? And which seedshop is certainly reliable? This is because Sensi does not really have everything in the Cali strains yet. What about the taste and effect? I smoked 1 and the taste was very good for an Dutch outdoor, bit sour and personally i like that. My friends smoke it and majority likes it, and are amazed it was grown outdoor in Holland.
