01/14/23: Today I transplanted these girls to 1gal pots. This was the first time I have ever transplanted plants of any kind and it was a lot of fun. Each plant was looking healthy as far as I can tell. I added myco bliss to the holes and the rootball of each plant. I watered each plant with a pump sprayer full of water Ph'ed at 6.3 after adding 2ml/gal of seaweed extract. This strain is supposed to be 100% sativa. My seeds are from Garden of Green. And I am starting to question their claim that these are Doug's Varin. I am not sure that I should be able to tell at this point, but I would expect that the leaves of these plants should be less round and a bit briter green than they are. I also expecteda little more stretch within the internodes at this point. Some of these nodes are basically stacked on top of eachother. And so it seems to me that what I am growing has at least a little bit of indica in it, and thus is not actually real Doug's Varin. However, I could just be completely wrong and building false conclusions. I don't actually know what the heck I'm doing here afterall. 😂 I'm hoping for a little more stretch at this point and so I have raised the light about 10in to about 30in from the shortest plant (#2). I have also increased the light to 50%. I'm really looking forward to seeing how these ladies respond to the transplant over the next couple of days. They are currently working on node 4. I plan to top node 5 on each plant once available. 01-18-23 These ladies responded nicely to the transplant and I've noticed no signs of trauma. So through my questioning here and in som3 discord channels, it seems clear that this is no 100% sativa and likely not even real DV. However I am committed now and cannot just scrap the grow because I do not know what they are. I've decided to do something that most will tell me is a bad move for a beginner grower. I'm going to mainline these at the third node. I figure that right now I'm only planning to keep 4 of the 6 and so I might as well try this while I have a few plants to loose in the event that I end up killing a couple... lol Today i clipped back everything below the third node.. know that I am going to mainline it on Saturday or Sunday, I decided to go ahead and start some of that trauma now, hoping that it might help send some more energy to that third node even before mainlining. I also watered with 50% of the recommended soil feeding schedule of Fox Farms today. 01-19-23 Today I clipped everything between the third node and what will ultimately be topped off as clones on Sunday when I mainline these ladies. I did this in anticipation of the mainlining with the idea that I would allow more light to the shoots on node 3 a few days before mainlining, hopefully allowing the shoots to mature a bit more. This may not have been the best idea, and it may be best to torment the plant all at once rather than over time. Not sure what the best approach is. Looking forward to seeing how they respond to this over the next couple of days. For now they look like some kind of grass type Pokémon design. Lol

Grow Questions

If these plants are truly a 100% sativa strain, would you expectthat the leaves would be the shape and color that they are? Do these appear to be showing sings of some indica? Is it to soon to tell? Has anyone had issues with Garden of Green seeds before?

First of garden of green isn’t reputable IMO. Seen lots of questionable shit from them. Buy from a breeder in the future - not a seed broker /reseller. Anyhow - no it’s likely a hybrid honestly. But the whole idea of sativa and indica are just kinda categories of traits. It’s not like you can do a DNA test to see how much sativa is in it - cuz it’s not technically a quantifiable thing. I don’t know what strain you’ve got but most stuff on the market are polyhybrids.. if you want what I would call a true sativa - find some landrace seeds with long flowering times and those thin fingered fan leaves. A lot of these companies breed with other varieties to get more favorable results for home growers. For example - Durban poison I’ve grown from ILGM has been obviously bred with some shorter flowering time and stouter genetics. This is common with Durban apparently from the mainstream seed companies. I touched on it before but I see you’re a new grower - I’d recommend finding a breeder that actually is doing the work and breeding and then selling those seeds. Most the companies advertised on here are just middle men, brokers, selling “white label” seeds. Bred by another entity, shipped to them and then slapped with that companies label. I could go on for some time on breeding and what not but you get the point. Personally, I’m partial to ETHOS for most my seeds.

Anyone know what’s going on here? I have several leaves in my grow that look like this. Going to harvest soon, and so not sure that I will do anything about it, but would like to know what I have done wrong, if there is a problem.

It is nothing that can harm your harvest. But like our fellow grower said, the leaves are a bit dark so for a next grow give less N during the flowering phase. Enjoy buddy! 😋

Why not just put a humidifier inside your tent? That will solve your heat issue as well. Space heater is gunna make it dryer! Wish you the best!

@@Carbonkiller1, I had not considered the residual heat of the humidifier helping with the temperature inside. I mostly do not want it inside because I am yet to really know how much tent space I'll be working with. As for the space heater, it is an infrared heater and so it should have minimal impacts on humidity, or so I've read.

Ok it’s had time to cure to perfection. How is it?
DaMunchies
DaMunchiescommenteda year ago
@Chaingangster, it turned out pretty wonderful. The cured bud has a very “classic weed” smell to it with a bit of something extra that I haven’t smelled in anything else before. The smoke is smooth and buttery, and the high is heady and trippy. I grew this because of all the hype around THCV. If this actually has any in it, it does not suppress my appetite.

@StarLorr, that’s a great way to look at it. Right now I’m still spending money at dispensaries, so I want my first grow to yield the best I can. 😀 But I expect every grow after this that I will not care about yield as much just because I won’t be buying someone else’s flower.

Hello, I’m impressed, . you have taken good care of your plants. They look healthy and strong. I wish you much success with your harvest. I think it’s smart that you wait another week until all the plants are ripe. The purple on the buds and stems looks very beautiful. You are doing great for your first grow. I would be happy if it goes like that for me. Keep on growing and stay high!👌
