24 hrs in moist paper towel, germinated 12/26, kept in towel another 24 hrs. Put in Fox Farm Ocean. Advised by growers that it may be too hot. So I dug up, surrounded seed with seed starting medium so it hopefully won't burn. Popped soil

What a ride! After 3 failed attempts on germinating. OG Kush (Olga) is my first success and she is strong. The first day out she had her true leaves. After a week her leaves are getting bigger and a bit taller.

High Susan, you want to prevent root bounding inside the pot for that reason you want a type of pot that breathes to air prune the roots. This will not only prevent root bounding but also stimulates the plant to shoot more roots inside the pot. I use air pots and smart pots and I personally prefer smart pots above air pots. The roots grow through the fabric and when finished a grow the roots look thicker and more developed than all the other pots that I've tried included the air pots. But there are many reasons how large a plant can grow that includes the size of the pot and your pots are really big and that is perfect for the amount of plants and the size of your grow space. I prefer more plants in smaller pots to keep them small and create a SOG instead of a few larger plants. In my opinion smaller plants in large amounts are easier to manage and when you lose some on the way it doesn't really decrease the yield. So that was just the pot and that the size of the pot can control how large a plant can grow. But for a large harvest you want to give them enough light, the right amount and type of nutrition's during the whole grow and a lot of love 😘

Day 8 Growing nicely. Getting 2nd set of leaves and 2 "tall. Watering 1 time a day in morning with 50 ml water. To get thru humidity up for the seedlings, I put a bowl of water, small humidifier, and 2 wet towels (recommended by @GrowingGrannie) I have to rewet the towels at night to maintain rh above 45%. With 3 seedlings in the tent, each opening on consecutive days, I will now refer to day in tent for consistency in discussion. Day 12 in tent started watering with 100 ml water once in the morning. Showing 3 set fan leaves and starting 5 set fan leaves. Her stems are pinkish and 2.5"tall.

Should I use a training technique on any of my autos or just get a successful grow to harvest for my first grow? If so when should I do this? Are there any stress techniques that should not be used on autos?

Don't top or "fim" autos and try and avoid (unnecessary) defoliation. Also, never, ever grow at 24/0! A bit of low stress training like bending or directing branches is all good and fairly easy to master. Just leaving them alone to do their own thing is also completely acceptable. The only person you need to please is yourself, not internet warriors! You can start bending your plants when they have 5 nodes or so, training too early can stress them and it really is never too late to start LST while ever the plants are still in veg. Training branches is just a matter of waitng for them to be long enough for training! For your first grow I would suggest concentrating on watering, feeding, lighting (18/6) and general growing practices and once you have a bit more of an understanding of these things, try more "advanced" methods on your next grows perhaps.

Starting week 4 she has almost filled the pot. Now 6 inches tall and may be on 4th node. Started fertilizer on Monday day 22 in soil 1/4 strength of big bloom and grow big. Increased water to 750 ml Day 23 Purple tinge shows in leaves and 9 fan leaf set Day 24 grew 1 inch now 7 inches tall. 1 liter water Believe 4th or 5th node Day 25 7 inches water 1.5 liters & fertilized Day 27 9 inches. Water 2 liter and fertilizer. Really growing fast bushy. Removed towels, bowl and small humidifier. Day 28 opened the tent this morning, 97% humidity 😳. Kept tent open for a few hours then closed up. Increasing water and starting feeding, she has taken off, grew 4 inches this week. Lots of stretch.

Og kush auto at 27 days is 9 inches. As I increased water, the soil has settled in the pot lower than when I planted so so most of her 4 inches is below the top of the pot. (Mental note: wet and fill soil prior to planting). Any comments or advice?

Not much you can do here... you can't add in 4" more soil. What you CAN do is to treat the growth below the lip of the pot as if it was below a scrog net and lollipop it (trim off all leaves/small branches) ... they're not going to get appreciable amount of light as her canopy is going to completely cover it and so will produce popcorn buds at best... Not the end of the world! Good luck!

Thanks for checking on my progress. Please hit the like button if you like what you see and I'll check out your plants as well. Og Kush is strong and vigorous. Grow an1 inch per day and drinking 2 liters in 2 days. Day 32 I defoliated her fan leaves and opened up the top. White hairs are starting to show. Day 33 added dehumidifier as the additional water in the tent is keeping the humidity very high. Hopefully this will get the tent below 50%

TDS pens measure EC and convert to ppm using a simple factor. Depending on the brand of the equipment it may convert to different PPM numbres... So, use EC for the least possible miscommunication. Most products in north america are on the "500" scale.. so 1.5 EC is 750ppm on those brands, but may be different with another brand. Whne irrigating or fertilizing, always ensure entire pot gets wet... usually a minor amount of runoff is necessary, but if you pay attention over time and consistently water at same pot-weight, you can dial it in pretty damn well. soil ec... slurry? slurries and runoff is not a perfect indicator of the substrate... it can be useful info to track.. make sure you measure at same points of runoff or use same volume of soil and same volume of water of a known pH before you mix it up and measure. it'll always be a bit off from what the soil actually is, but over time you will learn normal range and how to react if it exits that happy zone. 1.3-1.5 is what hydro/soilless typically uses. (slight increase between irrigation in soilless with a little evaporation occuring) In soil you likely see it spike higher then drop back down as you alternate in some patter with water and fertilized water.. whatever that pattern may be.. every other? every third? "on demand" will typically work out better so, more fertigations with slightly lower concetrations are probably better than gassing it one time, then feeding water for a couple gos. and that's where your testing over time can help you dial it in... you want to find a dose and frequency that maintains a certain aamount of nutes... neither dropping or rising over time. it may need to be higher in soil with soil nutes... if oyu have to rely on bacteria fixating or chelating molecules in order for the plant to uptake them and use them, even though that stuff cannot fit into roots in original form, it still increases conductivity of the liquid it is dissolved into.... so yu get higher EC but as far as what enters the plant is lower. (otherwise it's evaporation-caused spike or simply feeding too high of one.)

Vigorous and getting bigger every day. Now 20 inches she is the biggest gal in the tent. Growing about an inch a day. Drinking about 1800 liters per day. End of the week, Olga (OG Kush) is 23 whopping inches tall. On Thursday she got all gussied up for her girls' night out with her gal pals. Check her out. Shes a beauty. She is getting thirstier. Day temps range from 76-80 with humidity between 45-61%. Night temps 73-81 with humidity 54-89. I can't get this down using a small dehumidifier. I will be leaving the tent open for a few nights to see if I can get the temp and humidity down.

I like my 2x4 tent. It works great for me. bigger tent = more plants, that's about it, note that with bigger tents you need bigger equipment as well. think lights, ventilation, fans, nutrients, pots, exct. I don't think I will upgrade past a 2x4, maybe a 3x5 at one point. I like the rectangle shape vs square. It works well with my lights. Some lights are designed for a square tent vs rectangle though. Max plants in a tent is estimated 1 plant per square foot with aorund 100w of light. If you got a 2x2 and a 200W light you can grow 2 good plants in there. Or one really big one. I have grown 3 plants in a smaller tent under 100w before, it worked well, they did not get as big as they could have if they had more light/room but I still loved every bit of it. Good Luck!

Bio Canna make "Bio-Vega" and "Bio-Flores". B.A.C. make "Organic Grow" and Organic Bloom". All these are complete fertilizers with one bottle for veg and one bottle for flowering and both lines can be used for hydro or soil cultivation. I have used both these lines for years and can recommend them highly. Generally when growing in soil, fertilizers will need to be started somewhere between week 4 and week 8, depending on the quality and nutrition levels of the soil to begin with. Generally starting with half strength nutrients is the safest way to gauge how your plants react.......it is far easier to give extra if needed, but very hard to rescue over fed plants.

Well the Natrona sisters, Olga, Penny and Gigi, got all dressed up real pretty for the @Fastbuds Valentine's party. They had on their sparkly prom dresses, necklaces and flowers in their hair. So pretty for their first night on the town. My girls came home heart broken 💔 as the bouncers wouldn't let them in. Day 47 Still having trouble keeping humidity down at night. I will try dry ice soon. Cool the tent without raising humidity. Also I will be leaving the tent open with 18/6 lights. I had to raise the lights as high as they would go due to her rapid and steady growth. At 24 inches she is now within 10 inches of the light. End of week 30 inches tall 9 inches from light. This may present an issue. Temperature and humidity have been a problem. Tried a bowl of ice packs, dry ice 15# ( evaporated within 24 hrs. expensive $30 for one day.) I'm sure my gals got benefit of C02. Didn't work. Tent full open and partial pen at different times of day. Minimal changes in either temp or RH. I ordered a personal A/C unit to bring down temps, i fear that it will continue the humidity issue . hope fully it will come in soon. Tent open all day dropped RH to

Olga is the big gal in the tent at a whopping 31 inches. I've been giving her 2750 and she is feeling a bit light the next day. She is bigger and wider than 1ft sq. So in concidering a new tent, i need more than 1 ftsq pre plant. I'll be increasing her water next week, get trimmed up. Growing strong. Happy gals.

This week is closing with mixed feelings. I ordered a small air-conditioning unit at the beginning of the month to cool the tent and reduce the humidity. Well no shipment has arrived yet. So I called the company, they cancelled the order because they are out of stock. There was no inventory at the manufacturer 😮. So my 3 girls have continued to endure high temperatures mid 70s to low 80s in the day and mid 70s at night lights off with humidity high 50-60%. I did the final trim start of 3rd week of flower per @Legacy market place you tube and GD tutorials and fed immediately after. To counter brown tips, I reduced ppm to 850 for this feeding. 2nd feed was Wednesday with ppm at 900.

Week 10 Last week I did the final deformation day 20 in flower. Recovered nicely despite my struggles with high heat and humidity. So basically I keep the tent really open during the day and vented at night. There small ac well, it blew cool air but not enough to reduce temps. So these gals are doing their very best all things considered. Olga is the tallest at 31 inches. She will not grow any taller. Her buds are stacking and fattening up. The top bud is about 3 inch and half. My arms are getting a bit sticky when I pull the girls out. That's a good sign. The tent room is carrying a heavier mixed scent too. Based on the see info I should be looking at end of this month harvest.

Calcium and magnesium deficiency......simple to fix, add a cal/mag supplement to your fertilizer line up! Might be a bit late to affect a cure, but it should stop it from getting worse. Pity you went so hard on the defoliation, those buds were relying on the leaves you removed to make the energy the buds need to grow to their biggest size. Over fed too btw...........autos can usually get by just fine on half strength nutrients. Remember too, in soil it is a schedule of plain water/plain water/feed/plain water/plain water/feed.........

Im going to call this reset week. My plants have had a month of veg and about a month and a half in flower. Thus far I've over fertilized, have too much heat from the lights and haven't been able to control humidity. A month was wasted waiting for a small air conditioner from the manufacturer. I finally called only to find out they had NO inventory. I ordered a similar one off Amazon, which arrived within a week. Unfortunately it did only reduced the heat in the tent by a degree or two. Following that, I tried dry ice to reduce temps without raising humidity. 15# evaporated in less than 24 hours at a $30. I added another fan and keep the tent open during the day. My day temperatures range from74 to 82 with the day RH range of 39-51%. The higher humidity occurring after watering. My night Temps range from 72-77 and rh from 40-54% So today Mar 8 (day 74) I decided to flush the ladies with 1 gal of water each. Hopefully reduce nutrient toxicity in the soil and plants. Also I'm reducing lights from 18 hours to 14 hours since the lights give off heat and I'm crisping my girls. I am hoping for a yield that is average considering the struggles I've put them thru. 3/9 Made my mini antennas today 1 for each plant. See week 5 cannabis links diary for more on Electro culture 3/10 flushed another gallon of filtered water thru each plant. gals got another and photo session today. The Trichomes forming are clear and opaque but no amber keep tent open during the day day 72 hairs turning yellow Day 73 Feed 1 tsp per 2 gal Day 74 reduced Light schedule to 14 hrs on 10 off Day 74 Flushed each plant with 1 gal of filered water Day 74 & 75 working on my antennas for energy accumulation Day 75 placed antennas Day 76 flushed each plant with 1 gal of water Night 76 - since I reduced light hours, the girls lights out is 9:00pm. Put them in the garage at night garage temps are ~ 60f so the drop in temp will induce purple or other color profiles. garage is not light proof so they will not be in complete darkness

So how was this week. Major changes: Turned lights to 14 /10 to reduce heat on the plants and reduce burning the tips. Keep tent open during the day to reduce humidity and temperatures using 2 fans. Temps range from 76 -78 with rh 43 - 46%. Put the plants in the garage at night. This greatly reduces night temperatures also we have been having colder than normal weather. The night temperatures ranged from 53-58 & rh 41-51%. I continued to flush with a gal of water for each plant on day 79. This is because I've been over feeding and thought this could reduce the in plan nutrient stores. Responses to my last question revealed that I have a cal mag problem. I go to our local hardware / garden store that I know carries cannabis fertilizers. No they did not have any cal mag solution. Order came in yesterday at the end of the week. Day 81 fed 1 tsp tiger bloom per gal ( used 2 gal for all plants). Ppm was at a very low 410. This is much lower than the recommended feeding range but they have been getting too much. Day 82. Normally I would not water as the pots still had weight to them, but the cal mag came in so I made up 2 gal with 2 tsp fox farm cal mag and fed their usual water amount. 👏 Based on the seed info, it looks like I'm within a week or two from harvest. Thank you for the visit, I appreciate the love and encouragement and leave a like or a comment 😘 See you next time ✋

Well this is week 13, my ladies are coming into their own. The smell from the tent is getting heavier. I'm going to start the flush process with cold water every other day for 10 days followed by 2 days of darkness to fatten the buds. I'll continue putting my plants in the garage where night temperatures are generally 15 degrees colder than the daytime tent temperatures. I've accepted that this is not an optimal grow despite giving them what they needed...light, heat, water, and food..perhaps other than the light schedule, nothing was optimal. My set up was pieced mealed together based on what some of my local friends had done without researching further. I have ordered a new tent kit from AC Infinity ( Thank you @GrowingGrannie and @Ex_Alchemist for sharing your opinions). Once I complete this grow, I'll clean out this tent setup, put down poly over more of the floor. Then set up the second tent. I'll use the smaller tent for dry cure and maybe my vegetables in the winter time. Hope the AC Infinity kit will provide the optimal growing conditions. Since I'm finishing this grow I would like to take this opportunity to give big thanks to this GD community for likes, comments, follows and all encouragement and love ❤️ vibes. Also I've enjoyed meeting new friends here. I look forward to meeting many more😊. Shout out to my mentor Andrew @Legacy Market Farms who recently advanced to Guru 👏👏. Congrats 🎉.

Week 14 days 92-98. I've reduced the light cycle from 18 to 14 hours to reduce heat stress. It may reduce yield as well based on comments I've read in other growers diaries. An oz per plant would be nice. Of course more would be better but an oz makes a pound of cannabutter. Reducing the light hours is reducing the purpleness in the stems of og kush and gorilla glue but Purple chill still has purple stems The Natrona sisters spend their nights in the garage where the temps are 10-15 degrees cooler than in the day temps in the tent. Night temps ranged this week between 63-66 with rh 51-76%. The high rhythm comes after a rain. During the day, I'm keeping the tent open while circulating 2 fans. Day Temps can reach 80 so it gets hot in there. This week 75-79 with rh 43-55%. Sunday day 92 watering, instead of limiting to the normal consumption amount, I flooded each plant with 1 gal of water with 1 tsp cal mag and 1 tsp tiger bloom. Tuesday 94 used up my tiger bloom 4 tsp in 3 gal and 3 tsp cal mag ( water amount is for 3 plants) Thurs 96 3 tsp cal mag in 3 gal. Saturday flooded each plant with 1 gal of water. From here forward I will be flushing all plants with filtered water at 1 gal for each plant every other day. This week has been about the trichomes. Using an Ankylin 1000x wifi microscope camera, trying to get a close up of them. What an ordeal! I need at least 5 hands to take pics that have any clear image. Oh and an additional person to recessuitate me after passing out from holding my breath to minimize hand shake. How many are clear, milky, amber? Well from the photos most are milky at 98 days with 5-10% amber if that many. As I'm now flushing them in preparation of harvest, I can only hope they ripen up in the next week. Since I'm finishing this grow, I would like to take this opportunity to give big thanks to this GD community for likes, comments, follows and all encouragement and love ❤️ vibes. I've enjoyed meeting new friends here and having fun in the contests. I look forward to meeting many more😊.

Week 15 days 99-105 . I'm am flushing all plants with 1 gallon of filtered water each. Day Temps can reach 80 so it gets hot in there. flooded each plant with 1 gal of water. From here forward I will be flushing all plants with filtered water at 1 gal for each plant every other day. Monday, flushed with 1 gal of water. Starting this flush, I added ice to the top of the soil before watering. See photo. This is a stress technique used to force plant phenotype colors. I don't think it will work for mine as I over fed. While I have 3 different strains, they look the same with blue green dominance. Thursday, flushed with 1 gal of water. Starting this flush, I added ice to the top of the soil before watering. See photo Saturday, flushed with 1 gal of water. Starting this flush, I added ice to the top of the soil before watering. See photo I'm not seeing any change in leaf or bud colorations from flushing out the fertilizers nor from the ice treatment. General comments" After putting the plants in the garage during the night, morning soil temperatures are within a degree of the night air temperature. This has been about 15 degrees cooler (50s) than the tent temperatures (75+). This week our weather has been unseasonably warm so the night temperatures have been 63-71 with Rh 51-70% Tent temps in the day 75-80 and RH 47-59%

Week 16 Happy Easter week. 4/9-15/23 Flushing, nights in the dark with cold feet. This is week 2 of flushing before the harvest. Sunday I flushed each plant with 1 1/2 gal of filtered water after layering ice the top of the pots. After flushing they were just put in the room not in the tent. I had an ocsellating fan moving on a medium speed. Moved to the garage for the night. Tuesday flushed each plant with 1 1/2 gal of filtered water after layering ice the top of the pots. After flushing they were just put in the room not in the tent. I had an ocsellating fan moving on a medium speed. Moved to the garage for the night. FOUND BUGS ON PURPLE CHILL. Harvest is moved to this weekend rather than next Tuesday as planned. Wednesday all three plants were put in the dark room put ice on top of the pot. No further flushing will be done. Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Lights remained off Temp 73. Rh 71% when I opened the dark room. The dark room has black out curtains, however there is light exposure around the edge of the curtain. Saturday afternoon photos taken precut down. Trichomes photographed as best I could. Additional hands are required as I must take 50 pictures only to get 5 acceptable ones. 4/14/23 Friday Cut from the base of her stem, weighed and hung on the rack in the dark room with a small fan. The drying has begun. Wet harvest weight 580 grams 20.46 oz. Room temp 77 Rh% 60 April 15-19 Hanging in dark room with temperatures ranging from 73-77f Rh 49-74. April 20 - 22 Hanging in dark room with temperatures ranging from 71-77f Rh 50-80. The higher humidity is a result of turning the home a/c off during the night. Since its drying time and not much to say. I decided to locate photos of the same plant at day 20 of flower when I did the last heavy defoliation and side by side comparison to the day of harvest. I don't know if this is a normal harvest or small yield for OG Kush. See last pic in week 16. She will be drying for 2 weeks or so. I have been checking the stem stiffness or bendiness since the humidity fluctuates. It does not snap yet.

OG Kush, aka Olga was easy to grow. She was the tallest at 31 inches and had strong stems to support her buds. However, being the tallest, she suffered the most heat stress and was the first to show cal-mag deficiency. Og Kush aka Olga, was my first diary, initially planned to combine all my plants in one until I found out that for contests, you have to have single strain. So I jumped in feet first and ran 3 separate diaries. This was a bit much for me. I am totally inexperienced on growing cannabis, much less track the grow with all the nuances on an unfamiliar platform. I really intended to enter Olga in the Newbie contest, but I woke up one morning and Bam, I was an apprentice. With 3 failed germinations, 3 new diaries and no harvest surely was not deserving at that time. Because I'm running 3 diaries, when growmies visited, they checked out all of them and my likes increased significantly. 3 diaries 15 weeks,=45. easy to see the math. So here I am. First, I want to thank Andrew @LegacyMarketFarms for introducing himself to me my first week here. He invited me to his tutorial videos on Youtube. Every Sunday I watched one or two weeks at a time while I folded the laundry. I watched some over and over, taking notes along the way finding tips for that weeks progress. While I could understand many of the concepts, I never quite achieved them. I struggled with VPD in many forms: from not enough humidity during Veg to too much RH during flower. It's a world turned upside down. I was happy when he was recognized as a Guru 👏. Congrats again Andrew. Secondly, Warm thanks to @Ex_Alchemist and @StarLorr for helping me with platform technology problems. After emails to GD went unanswered, they offered suggestions for me to try and fix. When I kept getting blocked, they listened to me express my frustrations and anxiety this was giving me. They kept encouraging me to hang in there. I was ready to quit but I know I need to be here. My apologies to all that got blocked for 7 hours because you visited my diaries. Thanks for sticking around anyway. And my apologies to those that I did not chat with following a visit or comment because I was blocked. It is a two-way street. A big thanks to @m0use. Your comment on Premium Cultivars, made my light bulb click on for what was causing my continued 7 hour punishments. I had links in my diary comments to other cannabis sites, electroculture, recipe sites. etc. Since I've cleaned up the links, I haven't been blocked😊👏. Thanks to all the growmies that responded to my grow questions. Particularly my medical question as that is why I'm here. You shared with me your personal journeys and health issues and what works for you and what might be good strains for me to start with. I won't name names; you know who you are. My prayers 🙏 and blessings to each of you For all of my questions, I had a difficult time choosing the best answer. Know that I have learned from al of you. I'm here to learn to grow and have fun doing it. I entered some contests but no luck. My curiosity got the better of me and I went looking at the champions DreamIt @Ju_Bps, @gottagrowsometime, @love_2_grow, @ZombieKushAddicted and so many more diaries with contest wins. I saw beautiful plants, perfectly grown, but also fun presentations using technology. There's that word again. My extra special thanks 😘 to @DreamIt who has spent hours tutoring me in video technology. How to make a video, add music and add an avatar. I have a few short videos but while the music i selected was perfect for the theme, the music has copyrights and doesn't upload. I'll keep trying. In closing this diary OG Kush (Olga) and grow cycle with Purple Chill (Penny) and Gorilla Glue (Gigi). My thanks go out to all of you for assisting on those diaries as well. My sincere thanks to all that visited, liked, commented and/ or followed me. Happy growing and have fun.
