Note: the plants in the smaller buckets are leaving this week. Week 2 (Day 1) - Transplant day. Prepped 3.5 gal hempy pots in the morning. Each pot took 2 gallons of water before showing any signs of run-off. Let run-off to 20%. Armor Si 2 ml/gal, Calmag 5 ml/gal, Coco A/B 8 ml/gal, Recharge .5 tsp/gal. Final feed stats ph 6.15, EC 1500. PM: Transplant, chose the 4 with best chances and moved them to their forever homes. I at first wanted to plant the entire coco pot but was worried it wouldn't break down so took all the coco pots off. TONS of roots. Watered each pot with 1/2 gallon 40/50% run-off. Armor Si 2 ml/gal, Calmag 3 ml/gal, Coco A/B 6 ml/gal, Recharge .5 tsp/gal. Final Feed stats - pH 6., EC 1326 Week 2 (Day 2) - No apparent transplant shock. Everyone has grown significantly since last night. 1/2 gallon per pot, 20-30% runoff. Armor Si 2 ml/gal, Calmag 3 ml/gal, Coco A/B 6 ml/gal, Rhizotonic 8 ml/gal, Cannazym 10 ml/gal. Final feed stats - pH 6.0 EC 1252. Checked EC of outflow of pots, EC at ~1150, solid drop from the previous two feedings. Hungry babies. Week 2 (Day 3) - Solid growth all around. 1/2 gallon per big pot, 2 cups per 1 gal pot. 20-30% run-off for coco plants. No nutes for the 3 potting soil plants. Armor Si 2 ml/gal, 5 ml/gal calmag, Coco A/B 8 ml/gal, Rhizotonic 8 ml/gal, Cannazym 10 ml/gal. Signs of nutrient deficiency on the smaller plants. They're getting donated, so I'll do my best, but am focusing on my coco plants. Final feed stats pH 6.05, EC 1330. Week 2 (Day 6) - Significant growth. 1 gal per big pot. No water to soil pots. 20-30% runoff for hempy buckets. Armor Si 2 ml/gal, Calmag 5 ml/gal, Coco A/B 8 ml/gal, Cannazym 10 ml/gal, Recharge .5 tsp/gal. Final feed stats pH 6.05, EC 1450. Runoff EC in pots was ~1240. Good uptake numbers. Notes: topped the plants this morning. Topped @ 4th node, growth of 5th node. LFG. Week 2 (Day 7) - Finally got the nuts up to top, defoliate, and LST. Topped on day 6. Just finished trimming + LST. No feed.

Hi all, first time grower. I've just put my seeds into jiffy pellets. How's everything looking? I have some of my wife's plants in the tent as well right now. I'm thinking of going 60% at around 24 inches for the first few weeks with this mixed bag. Thoughts?

ThaDollaGeneralestarted grow question 2 years ago
I have seedlings in jiffy pellets and am concerned as the cotyledons are curling downwards. I suspect the pellets are too wet right now and am letting them dry out a bit before watering again. I am following AC Infinity's lighting schedule with 100% light 18/6 @ 36 inches.

They are meant to curve downwards to expose the true leaves growing from the centre of the cotyledons.

Hi All. New Grower here. Just checking in, how're we looking? 70/30 Coco/Perlite. 18/6 light @ 36 inches @ 100%. Canna nutes + Calimagic + Greatwhite. I'm getting some settling of my coco, so I'm adding a bit on top every once in a while.

if you have gnats, consider different source for the substrate... if stored outside, you get gnats. buy a product with Bti in it, like mosquito bits for a top dress or mosquito dunks if you have a reservoir (not good for irrigation plumbing though). i only mention cuse i see the sticky traps.. can use bti pre-emptively and avoid 99.9% of it.. if i see zero gnats i'll stop using it at some point in the grow, but will use it to stat every time. it's cheap enough and worth it. you'll see 1 or 2 around if the larva is present in the substrate.. it's never 100% but it most definitely controls it - if used midstream it'll corral a problem within 2-3 weeks. sticky traps still good to put out... kill in 2 parts of life cycle that way. no worries on adding more to the top.. you can easily bury with transplant, too. Roots will lose their function over time due to exposure to light. burying them will eventually cause them to re-differentiate yet again into roots... cause and effect. it's small potatoes either way as long as they are in an appropriately sized pot, which they are. watering habits will help the most to avoid superficial roots. You are in coco/perlite, so it's easy as pie... find a well-balance nute mix and use a concentration somewhre around 1.3-1.5EC every irrigation with 10% runoff. the runoff ensures each time the concentration is where you want it. you may need to tweak balance of the various nutrients invovled, but the concentration range will be damn close to what you want relative to your garden's variables. you can push higher and some plants may want a little less, but those contexts are extremely obvious and slow enough to react to with no harm. change formula? give a little extra runoff and that new balance is in effect immediately... another benefit of soilless grows. start tracking how much of each nute you feed... ppms, weighted average of label %'s.. whatver floats your boat. when you se tox symtpoms, make note of what levels you are seeing it... if you see a consistent result in this regard, you can easily avoid it in future. Even if i change products, i can devise a formula that comes out near what i used before and be confident it's going to work well, because reality is deterministic and works on cause and effect. makes you feel all warm inside... despite the fact it also means free will may be an illusion, but that's not a topic for discussion here... :P

Hi! I am 2 weeks out from my seeds getting wet. Everything seems to be progressing OK. I'm thinking of transplanting the pots to their final homes tomorrow. Thoughts? Too soon?

I would say go for it. The root base is typically twice as big as foliage. So you are due very soon. Try not to distrub the roots too much to avoid shock.

2 plants in that space would be more suitable, or even just one. Flip them to flower pretty soon if you want space for bud growth.

Check-in- How are we looking? Week 4, Day 2 Question: Are my plants wide enough to now start allowing more vertical growth? I have discovered I love LST! I'm very happy with most of my horizontal growth and am now thinking I should allow more vertical growth. Thoughts?

Hello If you plan to SCROG then continue horizontal growth, but tent will be soon full when you flip to flowering. Be aware to not left of space late in flowering, plants can be stretchy Great cultivar from ETHOS!

First time grower - How are we looking? This picture is right after feed. Previous Feed was Armor Si 2ml/gal, Calmag 5 ml/gal, Coco A/B 8ml/gal, Cannazym 10 ml/gal, Rhizotonic 8 ml/gal. That was 2 days ago. Slight yellowing of the leaves? Nitrogen deficiency? OK? Need Calmag?

They look good 👍. First grow, nice little setup. Done some training it looks like also just from the picture. Yellowing of the leaves I can't see on the pic, give them all some calmag to be safe.

Beautiful SCROG! 😋 Most important thing with a SCROG is airflow between the leaves and buds. Make a beautiful screen of green and get rid of everything under the screen that does not get direct light from the lamp to support the upper growth.

I want to say I agree with Mining_Green get a jewelers loop or you can buy 100x microscope on amazon If 80% of your trichomes cloudy they're definitely ready to chop, if you're looking to a deeper inset couch lock high the more the amber they are the deep the couch lock.

I am in late flower and am seeing some discoloration on leaves of 2 colas of only one plant. Start of fade? Issue? At this point should I just let it ride? Picture of issue and rest of canopy. TIA!

No not fade. Yes likely an issue of some sort. I’d try and let it ride for the most part. Personally if I was in your shoes, seeing as it’s coco - I’d do a flush of sorts, run water thru medium. Assuming you have a high EC runoff. It’s quick and easy and of no real consequence in coco to flush water thru to straighten out any salt build up. Then do a mild feed afterward to replenish. Your plants look like they still have some bulking to go..

@@ThaDollaGenerale, I'm still on the curve too - I'm on my second grow and my first was plagued by deficiencies because I had no idea what I was doing and I didn't have a good, reliable feed chart. I used soil and it was confusing to me when I needed to start feeding. I'm still confused as to how to know the right amount of nutrition is being supplied. I'm using a feed chart I found online that others have used with success. Another thing to consider if things keep not making sense: don't rule out the possibility too that your equipment may be faulty. I've read enough stories about PH pens going nuts and providing wrong readings that I recalibrate my Bluelab every month and I have paper PH strips to double check if things seem weird.

ThaDollaGeneralecommented2 years ago
@TheConstantGardener, I just started following you. I've been on the strugglebus the past week or so with the plants looking like they need some calmag. I'll be interested so see how yours grow out. Mine have always been on the lighter green side and I don't know if that's genetics or deficiencies.

For a small tent things are looking good. Just a tip for next time…get your plants just a bit closer to the light during flower. These babies love the light, full direct light and lots of it. But I gotta say, I don’t think my 1st grow 20 some years ago even had anything to smoke in the end 😂🤣😂
