I bought Bulk seed bank seeds over a year ago, put 4 of them in water for 12h, and then in root riot cubes. All gave roots βΊοΈ Its the first time I'm running 24/0 lighting schedule, so far so good! The lamp is dimmed to 25%, leaves are developing pretty fast. I added ExHale homegrown CO2 to try
By design, there will be variation (phenotypes) amongst the plants when growing from seeds. Even a legendary stable strain like Blue Dream still has some variation in seedlings. I am currently running 10 different Green Crack seeds and I am already seeing differences in phenotypes 3 weeks in.
@NegotiatedBubble, yes that's true. I do realize it, yet it's the biggest difference I experienced so far.. hight differs for a meter almost. before flowering they developed pretty equally. I had nice even lovely scrog. But after - chaos started π
@Girl_Scout, initially in veg, I was only pulling in cool air from the hallway into the Lung Room, but in flower I need more cooling / dehumidification capacity. My A/C and dehumidifier currently reside in the Lung Room. During veg, I run higher temps and humidity, and also can run the lights at a lower intensity, which reduces the heat load in the room as well.
I plan on utilizing both to decrease electric costs.
Placing equipment in another room is usually related to heat load. For example, if I had an insane amount of LEDs, I would want to put the LED Drivers (the metal "power box" for your LED's) in another room since they generate some of the heat. Sometimes one wants to purposefully increase the heat load in a room to force the A/C to cycle longer and thus increase dehumidification.
@NegotiatedBubble, yes, I have similar thoughts coming time to time, that I should grow less plants in the room, for better conditions. but voice of reason never worked so far π I still need to use a dehumidifier, it's not very powerful though..
@Girl_Scout, Wow. That is a monster fan. I either need install one similar to yours, or stop using the grow tent entirely because of humidity issues. I am dying to see what 35% RH grown flower is like.
@NegotiatedBubble, thank you for the detailed info! I see your point!
As for me I installed a duct fan with an airflow over 1300 m3/h for my current room. It's working great and doesn't make much noise, room temperature is 24-26, which I'm happy about. I hope it will continue to perform well during the summer heat.
It just bugs me how much space fan and filter occupy in the room..
I tried to keep the ducting as short as possible and avoid turns to maximize airflow. So this monstrosity sits directly above the lamps π
@Girl_Scout, yes - I found them at the Home Depot here in the US, but they are cheaper in bulk online. I returned to the store at least 5-6 times and would have saved
both time and money buying bulk.

@NegotiatedBubble, thank very much for the detailed info as always π I might go for it in the next cycle! Yet I don't know how useful it will be with opening the tent few times a day π€ probably better then without it
Ps sorry for replies as fast as pigeon post! extremely busy period of life is here π
@Girl_Scout, it's all about the MERV rating for the filter being used. You can pay for a pre-built fan+filter, but I prefer to make a homemade one because I'm cheap like that. Taping a box fan to a square filter is the most basic, but box fans cannot not pull very much air through a high MERV filter. Grow exhaust fans are higher intensity. You can make a box out of cheap rigid foam board insulation from the local hardware store and tape the fan/filter to that box.
I found one site that says powdery mildew spores are about 1-3 microns, but I would research that more. Looking at the below chart, it looks like MERV 8+ is a starting point. In general, the higher a filterβs MERV rating, the stronger a fan must be in order to pull air through that filter.
ββββWhat is a MERV rating?

@NegotiatedBubble, sounds very reasonable as well! could you recommend some in particular? I don't know much about them.. I see the models and pricing vary greatly.
I see appearance of bud rot this time is luck of care from my side. The tent is very crowded and I've been postponing defoliation. I'm finally taking decision to reduce the amount of plants next time π
Lol, I will refrain from calling you bro or buddy @Girl_Scout. I am buying a CO2 setup next month. I think I will be going with beverage tanks and an injector timer, but I am also looking at propane CO2 generators since I am enriching an entire Lung Room. You can get cheap CO2 refills at a fire extinguisher servicing companies. Every area has one.
@Girl_Scout, I started on the Lung Room about mid veg and have some pictures in Week 7. Since then, I have sealed the room added an A/C unit and my badass LGR Dehumidifier just arrived. I will have that up in the next diary. My biggest fear is humidity right now.

The propane generator is a pilot flame similar to a water heater that self extinguishes if the gas flow stops, but I am going tank as well.
@NegotiatedBubble, hahah thank you! I chose controller with tank in the end. And I found person refilling fire extinguishers as well π pretty dope! price is 5 times lower then co2 tanks in growshops.
Propane feels like kinda more dangerous solution, isn't it?
Whoa you have a lung room! Amazing! Do you have pics of the setup?
@Canna96, happy to hear π this grey tray stands on the hydroponics table, and has holes for drainage to the container under the table. And from there I just pump out the runoff to the bathtub π
