24 hours in a glass of water then into a rapid rooter. 3 came right up, 1 got stuck & died. I germinated another seed and drowned it in the rooter (my fault). Third try was the charm and I have one seedling now 1 week behind the others.
Transplanted to solo cups as soon as roots started showing on the bottom of the rooters. I should have waited a bit longer - the seedlings were very frail and I bent some. I made some small supports and they straightened right up. No nutes yet, I'm watching the bottom leaves closely for signs of being used up, then I'm planning on top feeding with weak strength 3 part flora series + calmag.
Topped 1-3 at node 5, #4 is still catching up. The Ph drifts about .3 per day. 5-10 drops of GH Ph down daily brings it to 5.5. No signs of plant stress, very green and healthy. Some fungus gnats from the coco. The sticky yellow fly traps on Amazon work well, but be careful when the plants are very small - their leaves can stick to them and then tear.
I installed a trellis net, not sure I'm doing things right with it, waiting for the plants to grow up to it - will veg until the screen is full. So far I'm really loving the autopots.
I'm loving the autopots. I did have a flood due to one of the valves not being installed correctly. Make very sure they are completely pushed down into where the little arms rest. Cleaning up the flood wasn't a big deal. I bought another set of autopots for my second tent.
Some yellowing of the leaves on one and the start of nutrient burn on two. I realized I was feeding way too hot - the feed chart I'm using is "custom" but it's practically the same as the full strength GH chart. I dropped the PPM from 720 to 450 by just adding RO water. Plants have already recovered.
Using the scrog net is easy and it's filling out well.
Some yellowing of leaves on 2 plants, some light burning on the same plants. PH looks good at the res (5.5) and at the tray (5.7). I've dropped the feed to about 600 PPM - I mix up the nutrients in the reservoir then just add another gallon of RO or so to dilute it a bit. I Induced some VERY high stress training and broke a top off one - I need to work on my super cropping technique. I'm planning on keeping the feed the same through veg and I'm planning on vegging until the net is filled out.
Yellowing of two largest plants - I think I'm underfeeding them. The feed chart I'm using stopped at like 4 weeks. Upped the TDS to 680 and saw improvements immediately. Flipping to flower this weekend.
Plants are starting to green up again! I was clearly under feeding. I brought the TDS to 950 with good results and now I've raised to to 1050. Starting this week I'm going 100% light intensity, so 680W. One plant is still yellow and wrecked looking, but new growth looks better.
Growing well now that I'm feeding them properly. Decent stretch in the first 2 weeks and the net helped a great deal. Will begin to reduce humidity this week.
Bud growth is noticeable day to day - they are obviously bigger each day. Still some yellowing, upping the TDS to 1250 this week. Lowered humidity to 50%.
I've made a few mistakes so far - I initially underfed these, then overcompensated and overfed them. It's interesting to see signs of nutrient burn. I'm still getting a feel for how long it takes changes to the reservoir to show up in the plants. I'm backing down the PPM to 1,000 and keeping it there for another week, then I'll start to taper the feed down. The buds look good despite the leaves looking a bit ravished. Stunted growth due to underfeeding at the start is visible in the plant on the back right. I've upped the calmag to 5 ml/gal based on deficiencies I experienced in my other grow. The smell is very mild.
Despite the burn, the plants are doing pretty well. Dropping the TDS down to 700 (I'm just following the GH medium feed weekly schedule) stopped the burn and the leaves are greening up nicely. It's interesting to see how the plant recovers. The bud size has improved drastically this week and they're becoming much denser. They are very sticky and I'm planning on examining the trichomes with a microscope this week. The smell is mild and pleasant.
These are shaping up nicely. The bud density has continued to increase and trichomes are uniformly cloudy with the first turning amber on the sugar leaves. The smell is mild and pleasant with pine as the dominant aroma.
The scent is still mild, but clearly discernable - the dominant note is pine. Overall it's a very fresh, light scent. Terps are continuing to cloud, more amber on the sugar leaves but none on the buds yet. The buds appear frosty and are very sticky. The breeder puts the flowering time ending next week so I'm thinking I'll harvest sometime within the next 2 weeks.
In the spirit of experimentation and impatience, I lopped off a couple of small buds, tossed them outside to dry in the brutal desert sun, then into the volcano. They smelled like grass clippings and got me completely baked. Overall I think I'm going to be thrilled with the harvest and yield despite over feeding.
I burned these plants and it was interesting to see how they dealt with and then recovered from the abuse. Despite overdoing the PPMs a bit the grow was a huge success overall. I don't know the dry weight while I'm writing this and I can already tell I'm going to be happy with the results. I'll update these notes with the dry weight once the dry out is completed.
20.5 oz dry, smells great - lemony and berry. I'm happy with the results. Nice, mellow high.
