July 12, 2023 Day 64 Zkittlez One: Height: 34" DLI: 46 mol/m²/d (Main canopy and not the very top cola) Zkittlez Two: Height: 31" DLI: 40 mol/m²/d This week is a heavy focus on flowering for both ladies. I will no longer be doing any defoliation nor training of any kind. They are getting Advanced Nutrients Overdrive starting this week for the next 2 to 3 weeks. Zkittlez One had her last couple of leaves plucked today. She got a half gallon top water. When the reservoir runs out, I'll clean it up and start the new week nutrients. She hopefully has a final height of 34" tall. Super close to the light now, but the majority of the plant is a decent distance. DLI is spot on so I'm definitely not worried. I just wish I had a bit more light distance. As for her structure, this plant has well over 30 tops. Her main colas are super deep and covered in sticky buds. I managed to clear out nealy all of the leaves I wanted to. I left some that I just felt didn't super matter either way. I may take the tie downs off at the end of this week. She seems to be finally done stretching and is now just stacking. I believe it's been almost 3 weeks? Maybe? 2 to 3 weeks. So they should be fine to come off. Zkittlez Two is looking great! I finally decided to remove some leaves that were directly covering bud sites. I also plucked a good few leaves from the main cola to open up much more light to the lower part of the main top. Some of the inner leaves on the branches were plucked as well. The only leaves I took were ones that popped off with ease. Some of the single finger leaves. Not sugar leaves. Just some odd fan leaves. She looks much more open and cleaned up. Another 3 weeks or so left before harvest. She still isn't taking as much water as her sister plant, but seems to be picking up the pace a bit. Her reservoir was topped off with the last bit of the gallon I filled the other day. She certainly does not need top watering at all. Her structure is that of a Christmas tree. She has 4 side branches covered with buds. The main cola is covered from top to bottom with buds. The main cola is kind of triangular. Interesting shape. Buds themselves are kind of wispy as I've read that sativa's are. However, they are supposed to swell up really big, so hopefully those wispy buds become big ole nugs. She is also fairly top heavy already. A great sign, considering she isn't even in the fattening stage yet. That should start in a week or 2. Update: there was a caterpillar on Zkittlez One! It has been removed, but where did it come from? Gray with a black head. I checked threat of the plant and tent for anything else, any bugs or anything. I haven't seen anything else. But sprayed a non toxic insecticide. Hopefully that's good to keep anything else out. Grow System Environment: Temp: 75.9° RH: 58.6% VPD: 1.23 kPa July 13, 2023 Zkittlez One looks absolutely amazing. I pulled some of the branches out a bit. They were a bit too dense in the canopy. Now the canopy is big and airy. Plenty of light penetration. I had to top feed a whole gallon of nutrients. She's taking water in from the wick, but the system isn't fast enough to fully feed the plant. She also got a couple more leaves removed. Looking great and as always she's a beast! Zkittlez Two is still just doing her thing. She had 3 leaves removed opening up a few more lower bud sites to the light. Nothing else to do with her. She looks great and getting nice fat colas. Grow System Environment: Temp: 76.7° RH: 57.7% VPD: 1.30 kPa July 14, 2023 Zkittlez One is absolutely amazing! I ended up taking some of the side leaves off and some others in the center of the canopy to open a bunch of lower bud sites. The outer leaves were removed to make her a bit smaller. However, the removal was minimal and didn't do a whole lot. But that gives me a little more room for moving tie downs around so the air flow and light penetration stay deep. She's certainly very thirsty. But I think I got her back on track with the bottom feed system again. She will still absolutely need more top watering for the next couple weeks. Maybe every 3 days or so. I guess it all depends on what she wants. But she did end up taking in an entire gallon with no runoff. It seems to have been just enough to reach the bottom of the container and help reactivate the wicks. They are also completely engulfed in roots. To the point where I cannot lift her up without taking the wicks with her. It's kind of difficult to check that the wicks are still in place, though. A good problem to have in my book. Her dimensions are something to note. She is 34" tall, 31" wide and 24" deep. Her canopy is 21" down and filled with buds. There are about 30 tops total and each one is stacked like mad. The internodal spacing is about 1/2" long. From what I understand, that is the best distance to have. I hope that info is correct. I have noticed that her bud structure is slightly different than her sister plant. Zkittlez Two thin tall bud stacks where this lady has bulbous buds and seem much more dense. Zkittlez Two is still just doing her thing. She has some great tops and the main cola is really impressive for such a small plant. Although her tips are just one tiny little bud. It's pointy. She's great on water. The bottom feed system is still running strong with her. I hope it stays like this for the rest of the grow. Less work on her means more attention to her beastly sister. Still, she may pull out a couple ounces. Grow System Environment: Temp: 76.6° RH: 58.7% VPD: 1.25 kPa July 15, 2023 Zkittlez One is perfect now. Just a leaf or 2 I may remove at some point if they really start to block anything. I'm waiting for the leaves to fill out a bit more. She got a complete watering today. A full reservoir and a full gallon top feed. Buds are swelling up quite nicely. Lots of stacks everywhere. Just an overall perfect plant. Well, perfect in my opinion. Lol. Zkittlez Two got a reservoir refill today as well. No top feeding. She doesn't need it at all. Her buds are swelling up and filling in the colas. Her branches are super strong, so I don't expect to fall from bud weight. Don't get me wrong, that would be absolutely awesome if they did. Alas, I doubt it. Anyway, still a well filled out plant. The main cola is nearly filled with bud from the third node up. Very impressed. Grow System Environment: Temp: 77.1° RH: 58.5% VPD: 1.29 kPa July 16, 2023 Short entry today. Both ladies are in the stage where I don't have anything to do, but watering and maybe a leaf or two. Zkittlez One is stacking and swelling buds. She will be heavy in the end. Maybe I'll get lucky and have a 15 lb whole plant. Just saying. Pipe dreams. Lol Zkittlez Two is just swelling now. Maybe a little bit more stacking, but mostly done and focused on swelling up. I don't expect to see much fade as I rarely get any in my grows. But I do expect some really nice bud. Looking great! Grow System Environment: Temp: 76.8° RH: 61% VPD: 1.20 kPa July 17, 2023 Zkittlez One happily needed a full gallon in the reservoir today. I am definitely getting a handle on plant size to water intake. And how to keep the wick system running properly. It's a matter of keeping the soil at the ideal moisture level. When I dips a bit too low in the soil, the wicking system has trouble keeping up with the demands. So to keep it active, the gallon top feed worked wonders. Now I have another week or so of efficient water intake before resetting. The buds on the plant are all getting nice and fat with 3 weeks left in the grow. I can tell that the colas are going to be hefty. There's definitely some branches that aren't strong enough to hold the weight. They are thin auxiliary branches, but they are still tops. Fortunately, they are all in the center of the canopy, so falling over won't be much of an issue. There are some side branches that may get weighed down. Also, I have been doing all I can to keep her off the walls while still leaving room for the other plants. It's definitely a chore. I even took the tie downs off another plant in there to keep it more vertical than spread out. It's probably a bad idea, but it's the best I have for now. Either way, this lady won't have any trouble at all. Zkittlez Two is still doing her thing. I took a couple inner leaves out today from some side branches. You know, the ones that are sticking up against the main stem and buried in the buds. So now the buds have a bit more room to expand and swell. They are also getting more light in the lowest part of the plant. She's great on water and needs no real attention. For now anyway. She definitely will never be as thirsty as her sister plant, but she seems to have a nice flow. Maybe 1/3 gallon a day. Something I have noticed is the lack of intense smell coming from either of them. I could be nose blind, but I can definitely tell when it's a loud plant. These are not loud. Not yet at least. I think Zkittlez One is shaping up to be a nice loud strain towards the end of the grow. Who knows, Zkittlez Two might be right around the corner for an overwhelming odor. Something to note: roots on both plants are completely taking over the wick systems. Zkittlez One way more so, but Zkittlez Two is starting to catch up. Grow System Environment: Temp: 76.8° RH: 59.5% VPD: 1.25 kPa July 18, 2023 Zkittlez One is absolutely perfect. I cut another super low branch off today. It was just not up to snuff. This should be it for defoliation and pruning. She has also grown another inch over the week. I think she's done now. Buds are getting fatter and connecting more and more up the branches and stems. Beautiful colas are forming all over the plant. Trichome production is starting to pick up the pace. Let's hope the vigor and health of the plant gives some super dank and frosty buds. Her water intake is right on point. About a half gallon over the past day. Zkittlez Two is frosty and fat. She looks great, has a nice aroma coming along. Very loud when the leaves get snipped off. She's also super sticky. Watering is fine for her size. Everything looks good on that end. I also took a measurement as well. She is 31" tall. Stacks are done and now it's just a matter of more and smore swelling. She still has 3 weeks left, so I expect some massive tops. Or at least some heavy tops. Grow System Environment: Temp: 75.9° RH: 59.7% VPD: 1.21 kPa

Should I thin this out? The canopy is about 8" deep, so 4 layers of foliage. It looks like it's still a bit much. Should I wait for the stretch to finish up and then defoliate properly? Am I being overly analytical Just need to double check with the professionals. Thanks!

A leaf here and there won't hurt her. I would defoliate every 3 or 4 days or just do it all in one go after the stretch. It looks healthy so will be able to tolerate a bit of stress.

My humidity is uncontrollably high at 64%. The plants in there are a mix of flowering, pre-flower and veg. Can I safely close the tent door and just let it all do the thing? I have 2 6" fans one is oscillating and a 4" exhaust fan all at full blast. Will that be safe?

Ppl in the likes of the US that are in flo and so on. Their RH is 70 average all yr round. And, they produce some of the most sought after weed ppl pay silly amounts of money for, "cali". Good practices. Don't getting your buds wet. Great ventilation and so on, and air exchange will promote similar conditions to outdoors. I'll admit when I 1st started growing. My weed was crap. Invested 300e in a 20L meaco A energy rated dehumidifier (mutplie which awards). And I can truly say. All it did was raise my lecky bill by 150e

Light leaks is what i have always found to make it. A change in light intensity to fast can do it also.

I have canoeing leaves from either light burn or a nitrogen deficiency. The 240 watt light is close but at 50% and the the deficiency is from taking out veg nutrients. Is it fine? Or should I drop my intensity down even more?

High bro, you give too much nitrogen I can see that from the dark green color from your leaves. I just checked the Advanced nutrients and you need to stop giving the Nirvana nutrient to prevent more damage in the future due Nitrogen toxicity. Next to that you just need to do what you have been doing your plant and diary are looking great!

The fan leaves can snap at the base pretty easily. I'm wondering if this is a problem. For me it's great. Just a little tug down and snap. BUT is that bad? Both plants suffered a bit of nitrogen toxicity. Is that a side effect? They don't fall off on their own. Just easily

Before I will answer your question I would like to give you a well deserved compliment with your training and growing! No nothing to worry about during this phase of the grow. It is near fall for these lady's and they are getting old. So far I can see you did a great job and I wish you a happy harvest!

Happy Gardening 💪

Pre harvest defoliation. Should I put my Zkittlez Two in a 48 hour dark period after I do the pre harvest defoliation? I'll be wet trimming this one, so I figure it's easier to start a little early and then use the 48 hours to recover before harvest. Any suggestions? Yay or nay?

I wouldn't recommend the 48 hours dark period because it's a myth that is supposed to induce higher stress on your plant in order for the plant to provide better yield but when tested they found that the there wasn't any difference in yield but the plants that were give a 48 hour dark period were more susceptible to mould. Pre harvest defoliation, I support and recommend. It's a good idea to remove some foliage prior to harvesting because it induces stress just make sure to not cut them too early pre harvest. Good luck with the rest of your grow and enjoy the yield

How the hell do I deal with this humidity? My dry tent is stuck over 70%. I can get it down to 68% for a short time, but it's 89% humidity out today. What do I do? Shut the room lights off and open the tent door for now? Neither the AC or the Dehumidifier are enough. Help!

Place the air conditioner in the room and shut the door if its a mobile unit, close the blinds and shut the windows and other vents. AC cools the air and removes excess humidity. If you can get that room down to 22-24c the RH should drop down with it. Running a dehumidifier in the same space as AC will cause the temps to spike as they generate heat thus making the AC unit work harder. If your AC unit can't keep up it might be low in refrigerant or the radiator coils need cleaning as they can't dissipate the heat. If the RH outside is 89% you might just be fucked till it lowers a bit or you can manage your environment better/ fix the ac unit. I have a feeling your tent or the room it is in is drafty and that's where all the cool dry air from the AC is escaping from. Keep air flow going in the tent though, turn on exhaust fan on low or a fan blowing into a wall of the tent moving air but not directly pointed at the buds. Stale air is not good. A fan alone with not lower RH it just moves the air and adds minute amounts of heat from the motors moving parts. If the air its moving is also high in RH it does not just magically disappear. Granted homes with bad air flow can trap heat and RH if they are stuffy and cramped. Good Luck!

I have been drying this one Zkittlez for 17 days and it seems like it stopped drying. Nothing has changed in days. The bend feels the same. The buds are still really loose and airy. They also don't snap off at all. Any ideas? Or is it obvious? Thanks!

High humidity does not stop the drying it just makes it slower, for me to dry slowly is better and more efficient but I will say watch out for the mold If you see any sign of mold then you can remove the mold and rest rush them and place them in the jar and burp, that need to be last option, I will still say wait for it or you can cut the big branches just hight with the small branches that hold the buds or you can just dry the buds without the branches 💪🍻

Sry about double mes as if they're too long, "block" So, yeah.. Good ventilation will secure you a good grow really. Don't get hung up with high RH. you'll read, the only way it'll have an ill affect on potency is if your plant has issue with poor nutrient uptake in you sub, your plant will find it hard to uptake nutes and high rh lowers uptake. But nowadays this is usually countered by good enzymes and so on. The days of high RH harming a potential for a great bud results are gone with the advances in knowledge of gentics, good ventilation and so on. Yes, a low RH of 35 for late flowering helps with resin and fade but, as I said. With sugars & enzymes these days. Them issues are old news
