Pretty solid start to this grow. All 3 seeds came up even though my technique was a lot more hands-off than usual. Will definitely simplify my method from now on. Starting them off in bio-bizz light mix and will transplant them to my living soil pots once the worms have done their thing there - I went with no-till even though my pots are only 15gal (with only 40l of soil in each), so I wasn’t able to break the roots up or remove the main stalk of the old plants. Let’s hope this works!!!
WEEK 1 🍃
Forgive my late posting, I’m having wi-fi and connection speed issues!
Finally! The babies are no longer seedlings. They’re looking pretty happy and healthy, and have some nicely established roots. On day 15, I transplanted them into slightly bigger pots, with Bio-Bizz light mix amended with Ecothrive Life-Cycle. Within 24 hours, mycelium (or what I think is mycelium) became visible on the soil surface, and the plants seem to be happy in their new homes.
I do, however, need to raise the RH in my tent. Dancing around 55-60% right now, I had to get rid of my old humidifier so just waiting until I can get a new one. UPDATE: solved this by moving them to my dad’s tent where he has a humidifier and a couple plants in veg
New product alert: Bio-Blend! It’s a biologically complete compost that can be mixed with water to create a compost extract, and any solids that won’t mix can be top-dressed. Supposedly will add lots of fungal life and beneficial microbes, nematodes and mites to my soil. Excited to see it work! I used some of this the other day as soon as I got it, to speed up the decomposition in my big pots.
Hey guys, hope you and your plants are all doing well! Started this week off with a watering of some biosys microbial tea. I love this product, as it’s so quick to use and not messy, and seems to make a difference in my overall soil health. Added some mulch too. 2 of the plants are looking healthier, whereas one is trailing behind a bit. Not the end of the world as I only have 2 big pots anyway.
Speaking of the big pots; I chopped & dropped 90% of the cover crop, and gave them a dusting of worm castings on day 23, which is also when I topped the 3 plants. Hopefully this will buy me some more time before I need to transplant! The big pots still need a lil time for the worms to work.
That’s all for this week! See you soon dudes ✌️🍃
VEG WEEK 3: JUN 8 - JUN 15 (DAY 26 - 33)
Week 3 is done! And I have just trimmed the girls again! 😵 removed 2 more nodes from each plant. I know this will increase my veg time by a while, but as I’ve said before, I’m trying to buy time for my worms in the big pots to decompose the roots/stalks from the last run. On this note, I’ve been seeing mushrooms! Yay! They should help with all that stuff.
As you may have noticed, one of the plants is missing. Unfortunately, I had to clone some of her and turn the rest into mulch. With only 2 big pots, I chose the healthiest 2 and stuck them in the 2x4. They’re looking nice and happy in there now though!
- 1g/l Biosys & 2.5g/l Aloe powder on day 32
- Light is on 25%
VEG WEEK 4: JUN 15 - 22 (DAY 33 - 40)
What a week!!!! So to start the week off, I wasn’t able to water my girls for a day longer than usual, and by the time I got to them, they were all droopy! The slightly high VPD in my tent at the time definitely didn’t help. Doesn’t seem like any harm was done though, they bounced back quickly and now you wouldn’t even be able to tell it happened!!
On Tuesday (day 38) the girls had their final topping for the mainline, and they’re looking so good!!! My veg time could be waaaay shorter if I just LST’d them, but I needed the extra time and I like the tidiness of this way!
Not much else to report, other than amazing worm activity and fungal growth in the big pots!!! Can’t wait to see how the girls do in there 😎💚 see u next week!
Hey growmies 🍃🌺 This week has been so fun! Mainly because I finally transplanted the girls into their big pots on Wednesday. It was a bit of a spur-of-the-moment decision, but I chopped my cover crop, then dug a hole in each pot, covering the mulch & greens in a thin layer of soil. Next, I dusted some Dynomyco (see pics) in the hole and slotted the plants in there. Few handfuls of mulch, a sprinkle of cover crop, some dry amendment and some bio-char on top, then I watered with a compost extract I made using Ecothrive’s ‘Bio-Blend’.
The rest of the week has gone pretty well too! Mainly just trying to figure out how to LST without the amazing Air-Pots. But I’m getting there! Might install a net early to help them spread out. Can’t wait to see how they’re settling into their new homes! I can’t check on them every day unfortunately but this is one of the reasons why I’ve chosen to grow with living soil!!
Anyway, I think that’s it for now. See you next week! 🍁🌿
WEEK V6: JUN 29 - JULY 6 (DAY 47 - 54)
Oops! Apologies for the late post. I’ve been trying to keep on top of life, and I’m doing a good job, but have definitely been neglecting my garden’s online presence. But here we are! Back for another week. Week 6 was a pretty uneventful one. Mainly just training the girls to fill the horizontal space in the tent, which is taking a little longer than usual. Probably because I put off transplanting for a little while. They’ll get there eventually! Haven’t had a chance to look back on my old diaries and compare, but will probably do that today! Hopefully I can post week 7 on time too (Thursday). Peace out for now! 👍🌿
WEEK V7: JULY 6-13 (DAY 54-61)
Hey growmies 😊 This is the last full week of veg on these girls. I’m gonna give them a few days longer to ensure the plants get big enough and produce a good yield. It’s been an exhausting week! While bending and training the plants, I snapped a single stem on both girls. Luckily, they both survived after a little painter’s tape to hold them together, but it was a close one!
On Friday, I watered some compost extract into the pots with some aloe vera
On Tuesday, I watered with Ecothrive Biosys and yucca/maltodextrin powder
On Thursday (day of posting) I watered with a half strength aloe solution and foliar sprayed with it too.
I’m thinking they’ll have between 2 and 4 more days until I flip. Can’t wait to see their flowers!! The excitement is unreal. Peace and love!!! ❤️🌿
WEEK F1: JULY 15 - 22 (DAY 61 - 70)
Finally we’re in flower! It seems like I took longer than usual to flip these plants. It could be because I kept them in small containers for a while and was trying to buy time for the big pots to be ready. But we’re here now! The first week has been a bit of a mess, but they both look healthy & happy.
Lots of LST & supercropping this week. Also a good amount of defoliation, just trying to get this canopy flat. Leaves were chopped and dropped. Lots of female parts showing and the plants are looking confident in their gender.
Saturday 15th - Compost extract
Wednesday 19th - 1st top-dress of REAPER; Biosys, aloe watered in & peppermint foliar
See you next week!! 🌿👍💚
WEEK F2: JULY 22 - 29 (DAY 70-77)
Sunday 23rd - Compost extract
This week was pretty laid back overall. Other than watering in the last of my biologically complete compost, I just made sure to keep training and keep the canopy flat. The light has been on 100% through the stretch, these girls can hack some serious PPFD!
They’ve been drinking a lot, too. About 5L each every 2 days! The nodes on one plant seem to be alternating instead of opposite, hopefully this isn’t a sign of something bad. Pistils are coming through straight and strong! Overall I’m a happy bunny this week. Peace for now! 💚
WEEK F3: JUL 29 - AUG 5 (DAY 77-84)
Saturday 29th - small top-dress Ecothrive CHARGE; biosys & aloe
Friday 4th - 40g Ecothrive Life-Cycle per pot
Some good bud development this week. Trichomes and pistils are really coming through. I can tell there will be a lot more usable sugar trim than my last grow, which means lots of edibles!!! New growth is looking a little yellow, so hopefully the worms make quick work of my top-dress! The plants look very healthy overall though. Been defoliating like crazy to keep up with their dense canopies! And the leaves get chopped up and go straight in the pots. No waste!
The pots are absolutely thriving with life. The bio-char, various top dresses, mulch, dying cover crop and defoliated leaves I’ve added should keep my worms happy. No mushrooms as of recent, but I’m gonna keep my eye out!
Well, that’s it for this week. Sending love! 💚
WEEK F4: AUG 5 - 12 (DAY 84-91)
Sunday 6th - Biosys & aloe
Saturday 12th - Worm casting top dress
This week has been great!! Visually, the plants seem to be doing wonderfully. One looks slightly further along, already getting orange pistils! The other has all white pistils, and a slightly more sativa-y look and feel. They smell practically identical though, now they both have their scent.
The tent is nicely filled, with hardly any excess vertical space. Just how I like it. I’m having a hard time controlling the environment, but once Summer is over I should be able to take back control.
The girls are super frosty, and with 5-6 weeks left I’m soooo excited to see how they turn out. Peace out growmies! 🙏💚
Hi all! This week has been a little all over the place, as I burned my hand in the kitchen on Wednesday. So I’ve just been focused on actually doing all the jobs, and haven’t been keeping track of when I used Biosys etc.
But everything is looking good!! The tent has been a little warmer than I’d like, and now we’re 5 weeks into flower, I turned the light down to 75% and lowered it slightly. This shouldn’t change the ppfd by much. Humidity is a little high however.
The girls are suuuper frosty; one a little further along with more squat buds than the other, but having 2 different phenos of the same strain excites me! See you next week with more good news! 💚🙏
WEEK F6: AUG 19 - 26 (DAY 98-105)
Not much to comment on this week other than how frosty these girls are getting! The advertised 27% thc seems to become more believable every time I open the tent! Having trouble keeping the environment dialled in; it can get a little warm at lights off, making me concerned that these plants may not be able to show their true colours! But that’s okay, I’m not after these flowers for their colours. Green has done me just fine all these years.
New product alert! Ecothrive Flourish. A seaweed extract designed with organic growing in mind. Hopefully it will be a welcomed addition to the soil.
That’s about it this week guys. Thanks for reading. Catch you next time! 💚
WEEK F7: AUG 26 - SEP 2 (DAY 105 - 112)
Just a quick update this week! I’m a week behind on my posting so I won’t go on forever as I normally do. Temps have been slightly higher than I’d like, and so has humidity. But I’m ensuring there’s lots of airflow and space to minimise mould risk. A little foxtailing is happening on one plant but I’ve turned the light down and my AC on to try and combat this. Week 8 will be longer!! Peace out ✌️💚🌿
WEEK F8: SEP 2 - 9 (DAY 112 - 119)
Phew! I’m glad this week is over. We’ve had a sweltering heatwave where I live, and temps outside were reaching 86f. And the sun shines right on my bedroom window all day! My AC has been able to help, but not completely fix the issue of high temps.
Despite this, I’ve been seeing more purple appear on both plants’ buds, one more than the other. They should be ready to chop in a week or so, by the looks of the trichomes. The more purple one also has some foxtailing, so this mixed with the high heat forced me to turn my light down to 25%. Hopefully this means my harvest window will be slightly longer, albeit further away. My 12L/day dehumidifier is working hard but still not able to fully keep up with the RH in the tent.
Overall, though, the girls are looking friggin GREAT! Frost is mostly on the buds, although there will be a lot more trim than my last run (Pineapple Chunk) so I’m excited for that! Did a little more defoliation where needed, and that’s where we are! Have been using Ecothrive Flourish (seaweed extract) with every feed also. See you next week! 🌿💚
WEEK F9: SEP 9-16 (DAY 119-126)
The girls are 4 months old, and almost ready for chop! It’s been a pretty chill run, with a little environmental stress as usual. Was hoping to see some fading but it doesn’t look like they’re planning on doing so, and going off the trichomes they’re about 5-10% amber on one plant, so I think I should chop.
So happy to be done! It feels like I’ve been watching these plants mature for ages now, and I’m soo excited to see how they taste, as the aroma is lovely. Sweet and creamy, and super sticky on the gloves. Can’t wait to get them trimmed and into the grove bags.
Will attempt to dial-in my drying environment, and get closer to the 60/60 goal. Hopefully I’m successful! Dry trimming was a dream last time, so that’s what I’m going for again.
I’ll be back once they’ve been harvested!
HARVEST
CHOPPED 17TH SEPT - DAY 127 FROM SEED
DRIED FOR 10 DAYS
PLANT 1 - 127g (4.5oz)
PLANT 2 - 151g (5.4oz)
TOTAL 278g (10 oz)
Sorry for the late post! Harvesting has been the main priority. Everything is done now though! These 2 plants ended up verrrrry different. One smells sweet and gassy and fresh, and the other smells extremely savoury, almost like chicken ramen. Trimming only took a couple days, and I’m really happy with the result! The smoking experience is very pleasant. The nugs are sooooo sticky that I need to prepare my roaches and papers before I touch the flower otherwise my fingers will be too sticky. An amazing dilemma!
