August 16, 2023 Day 78
Note: I don't have a good macro lens, so no trichome pics. Sorry everyone.
This is the last week for these ladies. Both got a full watering today and may end up with one more mid week, if it's needed.
Watermelon One is starting to show some color. Nice purple hues coming in. Tons of trichomes making it look like purple ice. Quite beautiful. Her buds are looking fantastic. Not much swelling left it think. She is about done with that. More and more orange pistils today. I still feel like she will be done by the end of this week.
Watermelon Two is also looking good. She's not getting any color yet. But she may in the days to come. Her buds are bright green and have stopped swelling. Her pistils are about half orange now. Super frosty and smells wonderful. I'm hoping the weight is being put on and I just can't tell. I'll start checking trichomes in a couple of days. No need yet. I can tell she's not ready quite yet.

Watermelon One looks great! More colors coming in. Super fat dense buds. Great aroma and super sticky. She is completely covered in trichomes and a lot of them are cloudy. More so than clear. I'd say by the end of this week. Maybe less time. She should have been done a week ago. But I would say a little longer makes sense.
Watermelon Two is also looking pretty good. She has plenty of cloudy trichomes and a whole lot of orange pistils. She's not quite as coated as Watermelon One but still a respectable amount. And still quite sticky. Overall, this plant has bounced back to something worth working with. Her buds are still swelling a bit and getting more dense. I can only imagine how much she weighs with all that bud on such a small plant.
No water needed today. And honestly, I don't think I'll be watering them at all for the rest of the grow. They have plenty of water in the reservoirs and are quite damp at the base of the containers. So in theory, they should be good for the rest of the week.

Watermelon One is looking absolutely fantastic. She's just about ready. By the end of the week I'd say. Her buds are super super frosty and her pistils are turning orange at a more rapid pace now. And they have started to shrivel up as well. I found a few amber trichomes, but there's still a lot of clear. She's just not quite there yet. No watering needed today. Maybe for the rest of the grow.
Watermelon Two is looking about the same as her sister plant in progress. She may be a little bit behind, but not by much. By the end of the week she will also be done. No watering needed for the day and probably the rest of the grow. She's a bit more dense and a bit more frosty. More orange pistils and some shriveling up. Trichomes a still a bit too clear. A couple of amber here and there, but nothing of importance yet.

Watermelon One is getting a nice fade. She has lots of color coming in now. She looks wonderful. Buds are tight, pistils are about 70% orange and trichomes are almost all cloudy. There's just a couple amber, but I'm not woo worried. As fast as this lady is developing, I expect great things in no time. She may need a reservoir refill today. I might wait for tomorrow though and let the container dry out some.
Watermelon Two is coming along nicely. Good bud structure. Most of it is pretty loose though except for the very tops of the colas. There's a decent amount of it, but it's going to be light and popcorny.
She will also be needing a final reservoir refill tomorrow. It will be the last one for this lady.
Trichomes are a tiny bit delayed vs. Watermelon One, but nothing too crazy. Maybe a day or 2? Maybe not even. She does have a few amber here and there, but still a decent amount of clear. Also the pistils are about 50% orange. No fade either. Nice bright green buds, but no fade at all. Still behind some? I might ask the GrowDiaries community on that one. When do we think this one will be ready?
Unfortunately, the jewelers loupe I have is kinda garbage and I shake a lot so it's really hard to see what I'm looking at. As said before, my macro lens sucks, so no trichome pics.

Watermelon One is absolutely beautiful. She has some wonderful colors coming along now. Her trichomes are nearly 80% cloudy. I see a couple amber trichomes here and there. Her pistils are about 75% orange, and the rest seem to be later growth.
There's still that one weird top. It's pistils are finally turning orange. I feel like when that top is done turning orange, the plant will be ready to go.
She got a half gallon in the reservoir today. I believe that will be the last watering she will have for the rest of the grow. As she doesn't drink a whole ton and her container is still nice and moist. By the time all of that is dry, she will be ready for the chop.
Watermelon Two is a bit behind compared to her sister plant. Maybe a few days to a week? Either way, I'll swap her out with Watermelon One when she's ready for harvest and allow Watermelon Two to finish her grow cycle. At least I think that's what is happening. I could have a phenome that doesn't have the purple gene. Either way, I don't think she's as far along.
She also got a half gallon in the reservoir today. Same story as Watermelon One. Last watering for the rest of the grow I think. She drinks less than Watermelon One as well, so this should definitely last her for the rest of her grow cycle.

Watermelon One is looking absolutely beautiful with her purples and greens. Her buds are super fat and her trichomes are stacking on top of each other. There's a whole lot of cloudy trichomes and very few amber. Not too many clear ones left either. Her pistils are mostly orange now. Just waiting for them to start shriveling up.
She won't be getting a watering for the rest of the grow. She has a half full reservoir and her soil is nice and moist. 57% saturation. I may water if she still isn't ready in a couple days, but only a half full reservoir as long as it's empty.
Watermelon Two is still has too many white pistils. The trichomes are about 50/50 clear/cloudy. Very sparse amber. I think she still has a week left. Unless she starts to rapidly mature over the next couple days, she may not need the week.
Her reservoir is about half full and her soil is also around 57% saturated. I don't think she will need another watering for the rest of the grow. She should start to dry out in about 3 days. And will be dry enough for harvest in about 6 days. I'm just guessing now.

Watermelon One is looking fantastic! The fade is amazing, her colors are beautiful and her smell is delicious. Buds are massive. Pistils are nearly all orange now. I'd say like 75%. She's not ready though. Still too many clear trichomes. I'd still say another few days to a week before she is completely ready.
Tomorrow, she will be moved to the big tent. I have to harvest 2 plants that are in there and I need the dry tent. Plus, the light is better in the main tent.
She got a final half gallon in her reservoir today. Just plain water. No flawless finish.
Watermelon Two is still moving along. She still has some time left. Closer to a week now that I'm really getting a deeper look at her trichomes. She will be joined by Watermelon One tomorrow, after I harvest the 2 other plants in the tent. So the light will be positioned much better and will cover the whole canopy for the rest of the grow. Just a little bit of time under ideal light conditions. Much better. She won't be getting any water for another day or 2. Her reservoir is almost empty and I plan on refilling with a half gallon. It should be enough to last the week while also letting her dry out before harvest.

Looking for a second, third, forth and so on opinion. One of the plants in this diary is in the tent with a huge Zkittlez Auto. It's really squished in there. Overlapping branches and leaves. How to make it fit? Thanks! Snip outer leaves? Remove tie downs? Let it ride? Thanks!
You can use LST, given that its in flower now and its an auto to much stress can stunt it growth.
Some autos grow massive some don't its a real coin toss. A lot of people prefer photoperiods as you can do almost anything to them in veg and they will recover. HST LST w/e
Good Luck!
There is one auxiliary branch that has weird leaf formations. The rest of the plant is fine. Just the one branch. It's got strange curled leaves. Still green. Tons of trichomes and no pests or anything. Any insight?
3 options, one should be out, because its auto, but i saw many strange autos, so :
1. light leak, some stupid reveg mode at certain point
2. too intense light and heat
3. heavy excess of nitrogen during flower caused it.
This is looking beautiful! Love the red trim on those sugar leaves. I'm wondering why the RH is 57.5%? Haven't seen this so late in flower before and would love some insight. From a noobie growmie, great work!!
@Prilyfe13, Ah I understand! I'm also fighting high humidity with season change occurring. I've got a portable heater in my environment and that has been a bud-saver. Not sure if that's something you can incorporate - keeping temp under ~79C?
Thanks so much for your response, and again - congratulations on the grow thus far, it's incredible!
@MMSC16, Thanks! These ladies are definitely pretty. The RH is not on purpose. I'm fighting super high humidity at home. I'd much rather it be around 50% if not 45%. I just record what my averages are for the week. So far, I haven't seen any issues. Flowering is slow, so it might be the RH? Not too sure to be honest. Thanks again!
Evoluciona con un colores preciosos!
No te preocupes en dejar un par de semanas más a la planta numero 2
Seguramente te recompensará con unos cogollos bien duros!
