Welcome to the second Purple Pakistani Haze! Unfortunately I had to pull the first one due to an accidental pollination by another plant. I've decided to try again, this time with just the PPH.
To save a bit of time, I'll just copy and paste from my last diary.
I've heard alot of good things about ACE and I really appreciate that they continue to preserve and work on older legacy cultivars. Many of these cultivars just aren't grown anymore due to their difficulty and very long flowering time. Being a Sativa lover myself, it was a treat to be able to get my hands on these genetics and I am super excited to grow her out and see what she does.
These kinds of plants are supposedly a different beast altogether. They flower for 12+ weeks and their stretch lasts for eternity, easily outgrowing your tent if you let them. Heavy training is mandatory. I will be low stress training, topping, scrogging, you name it to keep the height down.
Started germination on 8/26 with the glass of water/paper towel method and had no issues. Put her in a 50/50 mix of light warrior and happy frog with some worm castings and she sprouted on 8/30.
One seed failed to germinate, so had to start another. That being said, no issues with the second seed. She's in a little pot with half happy frog, half light warrior and some worm castings. She's growing just fine. Will probably transplant her around week two.
Week two and she's growing very well. Temps and humidity in the tent aren't optimal but good enough. Transplanted her on day 13. Took her out of her small pot, sprinkled some myco on her roots, and transplanted her in a 10 gallon fabric pot with half ocean forest and half happy frog.
She seems like she's taken very well to the transplant. No shock or anything. She's growing great so I topped her at day 16. She's going to be huge if I keep her in veg so I will most likely flip her into flower sometime next week. Just wanna make sure the fresh new tops develop a bit first.
She's growing well. Started LST on her on day 26. This week I also flipped her to flower. I think I'll be able to manage her height with the LST, plus I'll be putting the SCROG net up at some point.
The growth on this plant while in flower is phenomenal. While there are very few pistils, the plant just stretches and stretches. Expecting more pistil production next week along with way more growth. LST has done its job for the most part and I'll be adjusting ties here and there but the SCROG net goes up next week.
Fed her with 1/2 cup of Craft Blend and 2 cups of worm castings this week as well.
Lots of pistils are now growing and she's well into flower. Her stretch is still strong and I expect it to go for another 2-3 weeks. The SCROG net is up and doing its job. I don't think I'll have an issue with the height of the plant.
I've seem to run into an issue. Noticed leaves were turning yellow quickly at the bottom of the plant which is usually and indication of nitrogen deficiency.. Also spotted signs of calmag deficiency as well as nutrient burn via burnt leaf tips.
So, what's the issue? Best guess is a PH issue. The plant can't uptake nutrients properly because the PH of my water is not right.
I decided to re-calibrate my PH pen and its seems that I've had pretty significant PH drift. Since re-calibrating I've been using much less PH down. Hopefully subsequent waterings will fix the PH issue.
I got pretty worried about the rapid change in the plant, so I brewed up some compost tea and fed her with it. Also fed a full cup of craft blend and worm castings and will feed her some myco tomorrow. I'm hoping the issue won't persist because I still have like 8 weeks left on her.
Other than that, she seems okay. Her growth is still good and her calyx are really starting to form and develop trichs. You can see that she is also turning purple which I'm super excited about.
See you next week!
Temps and humidity are starting to drop outside. Chilly season is soon upon us.
Pretty good week for the PPH. The PH issue has been corrected and subsequent waterings have proven this. The PPH took it worse than the Alien Vs. Tk (in another tent) but she's seemed to stop shedding leaves. Pretty bummed out about it but its not the end of the world. Reminder to everyone to occasionally re-calibrate your PH pen and PH EVERY time you water. I definitely slipped and it has costed me a good amount of leaves and possibly slowed growth down a bit.
That being said, she is still growing and chunking up. You can see that she's putting on mass, although slowly. A bit of smell is coming off her and upon rubbing your fingers on the lower buds you get this crazy woody, spicy, and fruity aroma. Its almost incense like and something I've personally never smelled before. Many of her calyx are also turning purple while the leaves stay green.
My stems are also turning purple up towards the top of the plant. From my understanding, it could be genetic, but is also likely an effect of the plant being nutrient locked for a bit.
Going to feed her again next week. Getting some fish hydrolysate soon as well.
Fed her a cup of craft blend with some worm castings as well as a tablespoon of Organic Gem this week and she seems to be doing just fine. Got another 6+ weeks of this, so we are in for the long haul.
She continues to chunk up, although slowly. Seeing good frost development and her smell come in a bit more. No issues with the plant since the PH issue. No leaf loss etc.
So far smooth sailing. Got probably another three weeks on her. You can see she's still producing a good amount of white pistils. Looking forward to seeing her chunk up and mature over the next few weeks. Definitely very foxtaily, but frosty and pretty. The smell is also out of this world.
Fed some more Craft Blend this week, probably her last feeding. Hoping for 2 more weeks, then hopefully chop. Her smell continues to grow and she continues to chunk up, although she is fox tailing.
Getting into the final stretch. She's got about another week or so on her before she's done. Still a good amount of white pistils forming, but its mostly foxtailing. Going to start checking her with the microscope soon.
Another week and shes almost done! Will probably chop her in the next few days. Very impressed with this one. Her colors are amazing and her trichs are maturing nicely under the microscope.
Beautiful purple nugs with a very unique aroma. Foxtaily and fluffy, but not overly larfy and pretty frosty. Not super potent, but the effect is wonderful. Positive energy and long lasting high. Definitely a daytime smoke. Took a few points away due to a late term herm. Harvested 200 grams, 41 grams of which were seeded and 159 grams which were not. Would love to grow this again.
Finally chopped her down on day 112! Hung her to dry for 11 days for a perfect dry 😁.
Very happy with this one. Bit of a PH problem early on, but she finished just fine.
Ended up with a total of 200 grams, 41 grams of which were seeded due to an undetected nanner somewhere. If not for the herm, she would have been perfect. Thankfully the nanner was on a lower branch and the pollen didn't spread to the entire plant.
Her Aroma is incredible. Its like incense mixed with berries and spices. Very unique. As for effect, its a happy, energetic high that seems to last for a long time. Not as potent, but the effect more than makes up for it.
I would love to grow her again. Her long flowering time is a bit of a turn off, but if you're looking for something unique in terms of looks, effect, and terps I highly recommend this cultivar. Watch out for herms!
Wow buddy!! super nice buds
What an amazing grow so far - good job and well done 🤝
Happy Growing & cant wait for your upcoming weeks 🌱
