WEEK 1 – 29/10/2023 - 4/11/2023 Grow no. 9! I initially wanted to take this year off from growing to focus on my studying. But I have some time off in between so decided to grow again. For this grow, I decided to scale down my grow space. Instead of using the usual 4 x 4 Gorilla grow tent, I installed a shelving bracket on the wall to hold the light and blackout curtain. So with this new space of 2 x 5 x 8 feet, I can only grow 3 plants. 2 feet width allows me to access the plants easily. Also it will make it easier for scrogging on future grows. But with this new grow space, the tent a bit further away from the drain pipe. So, I wont be able to connect a pipe from the trays to the drain pipe for the water runoff. The best solution for this is keeping a run off container which I have to empty from time to time. No biggie. I decided to go with Fastbuds this time around. It wasn't a hard decision. I've been wanting to grow Moby Dick again and since Dynafem closed down, I'm so glad Fastbuds has Moby Dick Auto now! It's one of my favourite strain and I really hope the genetics is similar to Dynafem. The plan is to keep half the harvest in bud form and another half will be for hash extraction. I'll maintain the same system of automated watering/drainage like my previous grow. Grow no. 9, here we go! 27/10/2023 - 6 seeds soaked in filtered water for 12 hours. 28//10/2023 - Seeds placed in paper towel and moistened with filtered water 29/10/2023 - 5 out of 6 seeds germinated.

WEEK 3 – 12/11/2023 - 18/11/2023 14/11/2023 - I've chosen 3 plants to continue the grow and transplanted them to 3 gallon pots. All five plants looked healthy and suitable for selection but I went with the three most similar phenotype. Similar internodal spacing and growth rate. 17/11/2023 - 5 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 5ml CM - 5ml/gal - 25ml Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 12ml Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 13ml Blm - 1ml/gal - 5ml HG - 2ml/gal - 10ml pH - 6.20 EC - 1.03 Been having issues with getting optimal temp and humidity. I thought I could just adjust my AC but the humidity goes too low when the temp is optimal. But the plants seem to be growing fine though some leaves are pointing downwards. I think I can start the first LST in 2 days time.

WEEK 4 – 19/11/2023 - 25/11/2023 19/11/2023 - 15 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml CM - 5ml/gal - 75ml Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 38ml Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 38ml Blm - 1.2ml/gal - 18ml HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml pH - 6.23 EC - 1.08 First LST done. 22/11/2023 - The girls are responding well to the first LST and growth is a lot more vigorous now. I've set up the automated watering system and its working well. 25/11/2023 - LST adjusted and I pinched several of the branches at the base so that they would form callus and could hold the bud weight during bloom. I have also increased the frequency of fertigation to 2x/day. It takes about 2.5 minutes each fertigation to get about 10-20% run off. So far all three girls are not showing any signs of flowering yet. If only they could veg for 1 more week, the size would be perfect for my grow space.

I couldnt help myself. Not only that, I really went to town with the defoliation. I'm sure it'll be fine. 30/11/2023 - The girls bounced back really well! 2/12/2023 - 15 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml CM - 5ml/gal - 75ml Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml Gro - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml Blm - 2ml/gal - 30ml HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml pH - 6.24 EC - 1.15 All 3 plants have started developing stigmas! I was worried that plant 3 might not flower and I might have to flip my light to 12/12.

I'm seeing early signs of flowering stretch now. 6/12/2023 - Defoliated some leaves that were overlapping to allow better airflow. 7/12/2023 - Topped up 10 gallons of nutrient to reservoir. 10 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 10ml CM - 5ml/gal - 50ml Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml Gro - 2ml/gal - 20ml Blm - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml HG - 2ml/gal - 20ml pH - 6.18 EC - 1.11

I've been doing supercropping every other day only to find it recover so fast and grow even taller. I really hope I'm not stressing it too much that it goes hermie. 23/12/2023 - Res topped up with 10 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 10ml CM - 3ml/gal - 30ml Mic - 2.5ml/gal - 25ml Gro - 1ml/gal - 10ml Blm - 3ml/gal - 30ml HG - 2ml/gal - 20ml pH - 6.12 EC - 0.99

WEEK 9 – 24/12/2023 - 30/12/2023 29/12/2023 - This is the longest flowering stretch I've experienced thus far. 4 weeks. Usually it's 3 weeks for my previous grows. The plants are so bushy and tall, almost touching the light now. But it looks like they have stabilized. Autoflowers have come a long way since I started growing. They are as vigorous as photoperiod now. 30/12/2023 - Res topped up with 15 gallons of water mixed with the following: Si - 1ml/gal - 15ml CM - 2.5ml/gal - 37.5ml Mic - 2.25ml/gal - 33.8ml Gro - 0. 5ml/gal - 7.5 Blm - 4ml/gal - 60ml HG - 2ml/gal - 30ml pH - 6.01 EC - 0.87

WEEK 10 – 31/12/2023 - 6/1/2024 3/1/2024 - The new leaves at top colas are not the usual vibrant green. Looks a little faded. It could be due being close to the light while I was away for few days and the plants grew too close to it. OR it could be because I have reduced Gro which resulted in nitrogen deficiency. But either way, no biggie. Light height got raised and I am still feeding them small amount of Gro despite being in week 4 of flowering. Had to defoliate quite a bit today. The growth rate of this strain is beyond crazy. I'm still performing heavy defoliation despite being in week 4 of flowering. 5/1/2024 - I decided with extreme defoliation for this grow or often referred to as Schwazzing technique. All large fan leaves removed. I know it's a little late for it but since the plants have been responding and recovering well, I think it should be fine. I'll also be using UV light the last 3 weeks of flowering, so more bud sites would have access to the light.

But the trichome production is not as dense as Dinafem Moby Dick though. Trichome inspection revealed about 70:30 cloudy:clear. I think I'll start Ripen in four days time so that harvest can be exactly 2 weeks from now. The terpene profile is definitely myrcene dominant. Fruity, mango smell.

Happy Harvest Day!

THC - 23% 30% Indica/ 70% Sativa I quite enjoyed this grow. Smooth and no major issues with the automated watering/drainage system. All three plants started flowering around the same time. The phenotype is a little weird. One plant grew like typical sativa similar to Dynafem's genetics, but the other 2 grew like indica. But the bud structure for all three plants are great. Responded very well to LST and defoliation. They rebounded back fast despite aggressive training and even when I accidentally cut the main stem. Quite impressive for an auto. The terpene profile during bloom was quite pleasant. By week 5 of flowering, strong sweet and mango smell. But not too overwhelming that the air filter cant handle. Harvested when the majority of trichomes were cloudy and some amber. Did wet trim and dried for 6 days, then placed them in Grove bags. The yield came to 833g for 3 plants. If I had grown 4 plants, it would have yielded more than 1kg. Crazy impressive for an auto strain. So did the UVB help increase the trichome production? Hard to say objectively as there is no control plant. But subjectively from 4 years of grow experience, UVB seems like it helped in the last 3 weeks. Used a dry herb vape for first smoke test after 2 weeks of curing. Earthy and sweet profile. Quite pleasant. The THC percentage is slightly higher than Dynafem's Moby Dick, so the initial high is a little intense but not too overwhelming. Great mood boost. The coming down effect is pretty good. Not too heavy. I'm so happy I can get a reliable Moby Dick genetics from Fastbuds after Dynafem closed down.

WEEK 17 – 18/2/2024 - 24/2/2024 20/2/2024 - UVB duration increased to 3 hours/day. The top leaves are definitely showing tip burn, but it's fine, I'll be harvesting in a week anyways. 25/2/2024 - Harvest day! Did a rough wet trim for all 3 plants. I'm planning for hash extraction from 2/3 of the harvest and keeping 1/3 in bud form. Easier storage for for long term. Will be doing dry ice hash extraction. Bubble hash extraction is too tedious and time consuming. 2/3/2024 - After drying for 6 days, bagged the buds in Grove Bags. I seem to have overdried them as the RH is around 45% in the bag. I always screw up the drying part. Well there goes my terpene profile. I placed in Boveda humidipack hoping that it would bring up the RH. The yield came to 833g for 3 plants. If I had grown 4 plants, it would have yielded more than 1kg. Crazy impressive for an auto strain.
